I'm sorry to have been MIA for the past couple of days. I had been feeling like a real hypocrite, posting the QOTD when I've basically been struggling / off the wagon and in the dust for the past month or so. I didn't WI last week, but this week will face the music for sure.
Anyway, I guess that motivates my question.
What tips would you give to an AWOL member to help him or her rejoin the troops?

I'd tell him/her that it took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries to invent the lightbulb and even if it takes 10,000 attempts to lose weight, we are worth the effort.
There's enough shame associated with being overweight that we don't need to compound it with embarassment about having been OffP. None of us are morally superior for having lost weight. We just weigh less than we did before!!

I would remind him or her that NOTHING tastes as good as thin feels !!!!!!!
I would remind him or her to think of what their goal is and why? Why do they want to lose the weight in the first place? Get them to re-focus on their goals and the reasons they want to get there.
To feel better, to look better. Better health and self-esteem. So many things.
I'd encourage them to keep these things in mind and get back on track!

I would say - take a moment and reflect on how you felt "before" you started this journey to good health. If you "just let go", and go back to where you were, how will you feel?
We should never, ever let our feelings of remorse, shame, disappointment, sadness, etc. hamper us from getting back on program and/or coming back to BCB. What's past is past. There is nothing you can do about it, BUT think WHAT YOU CAN DO IN THE FUTURE! ;) graemlins/crazy.gif graemlins/thumbup.gif

Just as the other girls posted, I would ask him/her to get in touch with their feelings regarding their weight. Most people don't think about how long it took them to gain the weight...they just want it off in record time. That does not happen. Everyone feels so much better when they are eating right...and exercising right. To keep motivated, I read the Weight Watchers magazine every month...Mays issue is great! Also, plan to reward yourself with little gifts along your weight loss journey when you stick with the program for a full week. Maybe a manicure, or a new CD or a short day trip somewhere fun. Maybe put a dollar every day that you stay OP in a jar...at the end of the month...you could buy yourself a new blouse, or a new video tape!

Tracy: I would say that the time you most need BCB is when you are struggling.
Losing and Maintaining is tough. If it wasn't none of us would have put the weight on to begin with. I've been at goal for 3 years and I have to work hard each day to stay on program. It's probably the most selfish thing I've ever done but I truly feel good about it. Each day I work it the habits become more engrained. The temptations, stress and depressions never go away (nor will they) because that is just the normal day to day stresses of life but I have hundreds of little safety nets that have slowly become part of my life that did not exist 4 years ago.
No one can change the past but the future is ours to control. Don't dwell on being a hypocrite...focus on YOU! If QOTD is just adding more stress tell the other Moderators. You've banked a great amount of support that you have given to others. Now's the time to make a withdrawal.
Take the time to find your "click", focus on you and get back on track. We can't make it easier but we can help share the burden. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif
