Mornin' buddies graemlins/wave.gif here we are halfway thru Aug. already. And it's very hot & humid. Heat index today is supposed to be 105-110...ugh Chance of more rain tomorrow evening I think I heard. We really don't need it again yet. Oh well...

Susan congrats on your loss. At least it was a loss, right?? Were you affected by that huge power outage last night? What a nightmare that was/is. Sounds suspicious to me but then what do I know. For it to be so widespread & then backups not work either?? Sounds like your DH comes from a great supportive family. My Dad's family was more like that than my Mama's. Mama's family was not really close at all. Don't know if it was because she left Pa & moved south or what. Maybe that's just the way they were. Sad tho when you think about it. Nice that family members are helping out, too. That's what loving your neighbor is all about, huh. Too bad about your WATP belt. When my last one broke the girl said after 1 free one the rest would be $5. But I'm sure the postage would equal that most likely.

Judy hope you get your sprinkler system installed today. It's supposed to be hot & dry here today. Figures the summer you get the sprinkler put in is the wettest summer on record, right?? I think if I remember...lol...I'll look for the Viactiv at Wal-Mart tonight. Sounds good esp. since I'm not a milk drinker.

Sue sounds like you'll be busy getting ready for your trip. I know you'll have fun. We're going to my nephew's wedding tomorrow. It's about 3 hrs away.

Hazel I'm so proud of you for conquering the image demon! :D I think we feel like we look so much worse than we do or that people pay more attention to us than they really do. I'm guilty of that as well.

Chouchi hope your DS had a nice birthday. A DQ cake sounds delish. Will he pretty much finish it up so it won't tempt you?? I hope you won't worry too much about the surgeon's appt. Knowing it's not critical should help. And just what you needed right?? Shingles? I've heard they are very painful. How long does that last? Must be miserable.

Happy congrats on your loss this week. You're right...at least it's a loss! That's what gets us to goal. There were lots of weeks that I only lost tenths of a pound. Gets frustrating sometimes but it gets us there eventually.

Found out yesterday that this JROTC leadership camp that DS was interested in is mandatory for staff(he's on staff as a Lt now) Nice of them to give us a little notice I thought since camp starts Mon  DS is scheduled to work Mon 4-10 and camp isn't over till 4. So somebody'll have to cover for him till he gets there. Then Tues. they go to Fort A.P. Hill till Thurs. They'll have a graduation Thurs. at 4:30 that we can go to but I doubt if DH can get off to go. I'd really like to be there tho.

My sister-in-law was over last night for a bit & I mentioned I needed to call today for my lab results. She'd seen it & the sodium was down 2 pts(right at the lowest limit)and the chloride was down 1 pt below the lowest limit. So I've got to call this a.m. to see what dr. says. Looks like this is gonna be my battle now. And my rings are tight this a.m. so that tells me I have enuf salt in my system. Right?? Will see what the rest of the results are as they did everything this time. Hope cholesteral is still down. Will let y'all know later.

I'll be in the gym later today. Am dazed & confused to start the day...lol Hope everybuddy has a great OP Friday smile.gif graemlins/thumbup.gif

Good morning, all!
DH and I went for one of his hilly rides this am. I had to stop 2x for my inhaler on one of the hills, but the reward was coming down the other side. Not to mention the 2 deer we saw cross the road... a doe and a buck. The buck stopped in the middle of the street and stared at us. They were beautiful! (I hit 35 mph down the other side, DH hit 41, but I rode my brakes)
The sun is shining, and it's supposed to be dryer today, tho still over 90. yuck.Summer, LOL After all the snow last winter, you'd think I'd enjoy this! Fickle, huh?
I never did get to go for a walk yesterday. before dinner I mowed the back lawn, took an hour, with non-propelled push mower. After that was grocery shopping, and by then I was out of oomph. I started the lawn because it was about 6 inches high, and it looked like rain;poor DH was going to the dump and stressing about the lawn, so I decided to pitch in. Phew, it was hot! We had a nice dinner of grilled chicken, salad, corn on the cob, and wax beans afterwards, tho, with MIL and Uncle Tom. YUM
MIL's foot surgery yesterday went well, tho she is HORRIBLE on crutches! She doesn't seem to be in too much pain, but she lacks the upper body strength to manover on the crutches. She was very pitiful getting up the stairs out front! She has to be off her feet for 4-6 weeks. Good thing there are lots of kids to wait on her <G>
Pat, we still have electric. I'm in one of the few areas of NEw England NOT effected (Boston area) I read that the Canadian authorities say it was a lightening strike in Niagra, but US says not, so who knows?
I'm gonna try replacing the WATP stretchie at the ballet store, they sell similar ones.
Pat, I sure hope they can get your sodium/chloride straigntened out. Its no fun to have to deal with , Im sure!
Sue, my youngest DD sewed thru her finger last year, trying to thread the needle. She moved the crank thingy on the side the wrong way, and it went thru part of her nail (at the base) and ALL the way thru her finger. I got it out, but she had thread in it.
I hope your plane trip goes well, I know it's hard to travel with littles!
Hazel, glad you could enjoy your swim anyway, in spite of your fears. Believe me, at over 200 lbs, I don't look good in a suit either! (nor in much of anything IMHO)
Judy, I would stencil using the stencil crayons, not paint. You color on either the edge of the stencil plastic, or on something else, and use it as a palate. They don't drip. That's what I stenciled my kitchen and living room with, as well as my bedroom at camp. I need to get some more to redo the living room this winter- MIL and I both miss it!
Chouchi, I'm so sorry you have shingles. I hear they are horribly painful! I'm sure the stress you are under helped that along. I'm glad the Dr thinks you are safe waiting. I pray your surgery will go well, and that you won't be too stressed waiting for it. Now , I apologize for not keeping up, but did they find it to be cancerous? Last I remember asking, you were waiting on biopsy results, and tho I read back thru last weeks posts, I still am confused. Forgive my ignorance! I have been SO busy since I got home I am finding it hard to catch up on back posts.
Happy, congrats on your loss!
BTW, my ankle feels fine today, but then biking doesnt stress it much. <G>
Well, Im off to drive DD to ballet camp.
Have a great OP day all

Good Friday Morning Everyone! TGIF. Thanks for your kind words...I really appreciate it. Well, yesterday I went to the community school near here and registered for two dance classes. One country line dancing class and a hula dancing class. Both start in Sept. right after Labor Day. Tonight, I will hit the pool again. I hope to hit it every other night. Then the nights I don't swim, hit the gym or just WATP with Leslie. My ankle is still swollen a bit, so I was told to keep iceing it. I want it stronger when I get to those dancing classes. Tomorrow over at Glendas house for chores and such. Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks again so much for getting me thru this emotional week. You guys are my strength.. graemlins/kiss.gif

Good morning, everyone! I weighed in today and lost .3 pounds. Yep, I'm officially a slow loser. :D I'm really looking forward to the new program as I hope it gives me a little kick in the right (downward) direction.

Pat and Susan, hope the heat doesn't get too bad for you. Rain is finally in the forecast here, and it's humid...for the desert, anyway...about 35%. I know that's nothing compared to what you deal with in the Midwest and East.

Couchi, I have fond, childhood memories of DQ cakes. My father would buy them for the kids' birthdays. Truth-be-told, they were his favorite, but we liked them too. graemlins/thumbup.gif

Hazel, your dance classes sound like fun. You'll have to keep us posted on your progress.

To the rest of you slow losers, have a great day!

Sue

Good Evening Everyone!

What a day! sigh I'm tripping over my own feet ( that is not a good thing in my case) I tried to log on earlier and couldn't get on at all until I realized that I wasn't even connected to the Internet and that was just few minutes ago. Either DH or DS was on and they must have closed my connection down. I normally shut down every night and reboot in the mornings but last night I didn't for some reason. I received a call this morning that because of the black out I will not be receiving my glasses until next week sometime. I desperately need them as I have a hard time seeing which means no driving for me. I was going to get my Dad's housechores done but am unable to drive DH to work as he is on duty all weekend. So looks like a busy week next week. It is so hot and humid again. It really drags me down. The shingles are very painful and I don't feel well because of those and the heat aggravates them as well. I've been staying in the house as much as possible.

Pat There is one slice left of the birthday cake and it has an owner,DS. lol He gave a few slices away and DH cleaned up some. Shelby had a slice. Thankfully it's not sitting in the freezer begging me to have some. I loaded up with produce so when the craving hits I grab a piece of fruit or some veggie sticks. I want to see a loss next time I get WI. The shingles can last for months sometimes I am hoping that this is not the case with me. The last time I had them I took medication and they lasted about three weeks.
So sorry to hear about your test results, hopefully you can get those levels back up soon. I imagine that would make you feel draggy as well.
Wow, that was a rather short notice to DS about the Camp being mandatory thank goodness he can get someone to cover for him at work.

Susan You energy levels amaze me I am tired just reading what you do. The biking sounds like lots of fun. The downhill certainly feels great after an uphill climb. I use my brake going downhill I've never clocked my speed but I'm moving and I have this fear something/somebody is going to walk out in front of me. DH goes flat out and he is wayyyyyy ahead of me. smile.gif You know we are never happy with the weather. Last winter was so long and we couldn't wait till Spring but this Summer has been so hot and humid we are not used to it being like this at all. Further inland is usually hot but we are right on the coast and I am soooooo looking forward to the Fall. The snow can hold off until Christmas Eve and leave again the first week in January. lol
I've never seen the stenciling crayons they do sound easier to use. I've always used my brushes and I also do freehand as well. When I can concentrate again I've got to get my materials out and get the stenciling done before Christmas.
They did discover a tumor it is very small non malignant at this time, it could turn that is why I am going to see my surgeon. My GP says he will probably remove that area. I will wait and see what happens next month and I'm praying that it's status doesn't change although he read the report and doesn't feel that anything will occur right away. I pray he is right.

Hazel I envy you joining dancing classes. I've taken line dancing and it is so much fun. Our instructors were wonderful. I've never joined a hula group before but I have a friend that did and she showed me a few movements. She said it was fun as well. If I had the nerve and someone to join with me I would love to try belly dancing. I've got the belly for it. ;) Enjoy your weekend.

Sue Congrats on the loss! They all add up no matter how small. smile.gif

Judy Hope you are having a great day!

Everyone have a great evening!
