I never meet anyone around here from Nebr. I lived my whole life in Nebr. and moved to WV when I got married 30 years ago on Dec. 29th. Is anyone out there from Nebr. and around me?

Hi Cathy. Nice to meet you. What part of Nebraska did you live in? I grew up in Grand Island. Where do you live now? My brother-in-law grew up in Missouri around an army base.

I grew up in Stanton (small town near Norfolk) and went to college at UNL. My dad was at the Nebr. Veterans Home in Grand Island for awhile. I've been living in St. Louis for 21 years (with 2 one-year breaks), but lived a few places between the time I lived in Nebr. and the time we moved here. Nebr. is still home to me in a way that St. Louis isn't, and I get back there at least once a year for a visit.

WV is supposed to be gorgeous, but I haven't ever visited there.

It really is pretty here with all the trees and all the colors. It kind of reminds me of Colorado with leaf trees instead of pines. My daughter is in college as a Freshman at WVU downstate in Morgantown and it is a beautiful drive. But I know exactly how you feel. It just isn't home, even after 29 years!! When I think of home, I think of sky as far as the eye can see and all those corn fields and cattle. My husband can't understand that because this has always been home to him. My dad goes the the VA Hospital in Grand Island for all of his regular check-ups. That isn't far from where my parents and sister still live. One thing, too, the snow isn't as bad here as it is there with all the drifting. smile.gif It was kind of fun when we were kids. smile.gif

I used to live in Peterstown, WV, near Princeton--miss it terribly, even though I grew up where I am now, in Martinsville, VA, about 3 hours away. I LOVE the mountains! :)

Hey guys, Im about 40 minutes north of Charleston. Small world isnt it. Im with you, Katie. I love everything about WV. Born and raised here. No plans to leave. OK, OK, I wont break into a chorus of "Almost Heaven, West Virginia"
but it really is a wonderful place to live. Ive never been to the midwest but I hope to visit someday. I know that I would be very homesick if I had to relocate....that must be hard.
