Hey girls!!
Since we're all so busy and not posting much, I decided to do a monthly thread instead of a weekly. I can't always seem to get in here early in the week to start a weekly thread. smile.gif

Kimberley How is your baby doing this week? He sounds just like Sarah- more interested in the world than in nursing, even when they are very hungry and thirsty! That's why Sarah only nurses at night and when going down for naps now. I miss our other special times. But I suppose it's nature's way. About my horses: I have three acres behind my house where we keep them. I have a small metal barn with three stalls and a tack room, so it's nice. Plus I have a sand arena to ride in- even though I ride out in the field most of the time. The horses are the only things keeping me in shape right now!!

Once again this week I've only worked out once. The rest of the time has been riding the horses. *sigh* Will this get easier? I really just wish I didn't have to work- things would be SO much easier. *sigh again*

I went to WW on Monday and was down 1.4 pounds so I got my 25 pound magnet. YAY! I'll go back again in two weeks. Now I'm aiming for that 30 pound mark. The weight is coming off so slow...but it's coming off so easy. I'm still able to eat to the top of my Points everyday and use activity Points when I have them.

Well, I'm very tired and VERY thirsty tonight, so I think I'll go make myself a huge glass of ice water and go to bed to read and lay next to Sarah. I'm so glad our power is back on! It's SO hot without our fans going!

Have a great night everyone!

Hi Lisa,

Congrats on your 25 lb. magnet! That's a great accomplishment. smile.gif

My baby's 2 mos. old today, and I've still got 15 of my 30 pregnancy lb. to lose, but I'm going back to meetings today. I'm really excited about it, and a little nervous, since I moved while I was pregnant, so I don't know anyone at this location, but I hope the leader's good, and I hope everyone's as nice as they are here, and as nice as they've been at other locations I've been to. smile.gif

I'm not hopeful for the weight to come off quickly though, because I asked my Dr. about losing these lb., and he said I should eat at least 2000 calories/day while nursing full time, which is more than my WW nursing/losing range. So, I'll follow his advice, and eat more points than the WW range, but follow the program in all other regards. I consider that to be OP, and I hope no-one disagrees with that approach. If any buddies have issue with me posting here and following program this way, please just let me know (by posting or by PM).

I'm also curious if any of you are pumping, and what kind of pump you use, and what you think of it. I have an Avent Isis, which I like, but it's slow, and just bought an Ameda Purely Yours for when I go back to work. I haven't used it yet though, so any feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks, and best wishes to all.

Hello nursing mommies. DS(almost 10m) and I are back to normal. I am able to keep my supply up to his needs. He still prefers to nurse over eating food though. I won't worry much about that until he turns one. I think it is just the fact that he sees me. Anybody else can feed him solids, but he only takes small amounts from me and then reaches out for his favorite source of nutrition.

About the pumps.. I have both (Purely yours and Avent Isis). I like them both. I mostly use my Isis because it is more portable and discreet(ie no noise or need for an outlet) I cam pump in the car or anywhere and just put it under my shirt. The Purely yours has been helpful if I have to pump more than twice a day, or when I pump and nurse at the same time etc. One thing that I have noticed for myself is that my breasts get used to one pump. So I usually switch pumps off and on too. All in all I think it is great to have both, so that you can use the most convenient one for the occasion.

Lisa, WTG on the 25lb magnet!!! Keep up the great work!!
Don't beat yourself up about not doing "formal" exercise. You enjoy riding your horses and that is exercise. One of the worst things I did the first time around was force the issue. I was working out 1-2hrs a day and eating foods that I thought were more "OP" and I just burned out of the whole process. I didn't learn how to enjoy it and I didn't learn how to make it work with my life. I made WW my life and you simply can't sustain that, especially with kids!!

I find with baby that he's fine if we can nurse in his room in quiet. It's harder when we're out of the house. I try to nurse him at my parents' and can't get more than a few minutes in before he's trying to get involved in whatever's going on. It's difficult to always be around home every 3hrs. I talked to the doctor about renting a pump and pumping so he can drink a sippy of breastmilk a few times in the day and we don't have to fight him or deal with dehydration in this heat. I just have to get around to locating a pump to rent now!!

Karen- I hope you find a good meeting! I rejoined two weeks ago and it was the best decision I've made in a while. It's hard to take that first step but worth it!
As for nursing points, I think that the nursing range *is* 2000 calories. If you're eating lots of fruits, veggies and fibre, your points will be 2000 calories. If you eat at your max which is 37pts, that's around 50 calories per point (1850 calories) *but* you can get more calories per point if you're eating foods high in fibre. One point can be as much as 100 calories if you're eating higher fibre. Likewise, veggies are "free" but veggies do have calories as well. I think you'd find that if you're eating whole grains, lots of veggies and eating at your max, the nursing WW points actually are 2000 calories. Why don't you try to keep track of your calories in a day instead of the points and then figure out how many points it is to get a better idea? smile.gif

Imagine- I'm glad you guys are feeling better. What a stinker that baby won't take solids with you. Thanks for the tips on the pumps. I tried to use a manual with my second and couldn't get anything out. I'm going to look into renting an electric pump to get the maximum suction! LOL

Whoops- I doubled posted so I might as well take this time for a bit of an update on us! smile.gif

I have an appointment at the nursing store tomorrow to get an electric pump. The manual and mini-electric pumps just don't work for me. Baby isn't getting enough nursing during the day and is dehydrating. He makes up for it at night and will nurse sometimes 4 times between 9pm-9am!

Now, baby won't take a bottle and spits out as much as he drinks in a sippy so we'll see how it goes. Our schedule is HECTIC this fall so I'm going to need to get up a supply as there will probably be days when we're not home for him to nurse and I'm not home to pump. He won't nurse in the car or in public or even on the couch at my parents' house. He will *only* nurse in his room, in the rocking chair, on his nursing pillow so that reduces some of the options out there!! LOL graemlins/crazy.gif
