Just taking a survey to see how I am doing. I feel like the weight is coming off so slowly, but I want to be happy it's coming off at all!!
James was born 6/17. I went into the hospital at 170 (40# weight gain). I guess I came home around 155-ish. My official start to lose weight was 151 on July 4. Today I am 140.8.
So, it;s taken a month to lose 10 pounds and it hasn't been an easy month.
I do not want to compromise my milk, but how long is it going to take me to get off another 10-20 pounds??
How much have you lost in how much time?
How old is your baby?
How long do you think it will take me to lose 10-20 pounds?
Thanks!

Congratulations! On the new baby and on losing 10 pounds in one month. That's really a lot.
I can't answer your questions - yet. I am due to deliver tomorrow (so, I figure she'll be a week or so late) and am trying to get a head start on the weight loss motivation. I gained 30 pounds and have many MANY more pounds beyond that to lose from my first child and before.
It feels like a long long road but I am very determined this time.
I did not find that breastfeeding helped me to lose weight much last time (with my son) except in the very beginning. I was hungry all the time and since I was adjusting to the stress of parenting it was very hard to eat healthy. It will be just as hard this time, but I will do it!
I'll let you know in a few weeks how my weight loss is going.

Hey! graemlins/wave.gif
Well, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but I will warn you just so you have the right expectations. It is *totally* natural for your body to hold on to anywhere from 5-10lbs extra while nursing. This is from breast size, milk duct production and increased blood flow to produce milk. Good news is that if you stay OP through the weaning process, you should dump those 5-10lbs quickly!
That being said, your baby is only 2mths old and you're in EXCELLENT shape having only 10+lbs to lose. Just stay OP, continue to get in enough fluids, dairy, veggies and exercise. You should find that the weight will come off, though it probably won't come off in another month. As you get closer to goal, your body will naturally slow down to maitain some maternal fat stores to feed the baby.
Ten pounds in one month is INCREDIBLE!! I have a hard time losing weight and I've lost 10lbs in FIVE months while nursing!!

Hi Teg,
My baby was born just the day before yours on June 16 -- small world. smile.gif
Anyway, I gained about 30 lb. during my pregnancy, and came home from the hospital with about 20 of them, and I've only lost 5 since then, so I've still got about 15 to go. I'm going back to meetings today, but I'm not hopeful to lose it quickly, because I was near the bottom of my healthy range before I got PG, and my Dr. advised that I should be eating at least 2000 calories while nursing (which is more than my WW nursing/losing range).
So, I'm going to count points, journal, go to meetings, get all my water, dairy, fruits & veggies, but I'm going to eat according to my Dr.'s advice while I'm nursing full-time, which I consider to be OP. I hope no-one here disagrees and/or thinks I'm off-P, but I've also heard what Kimberley pointed out about holding onto 5-10 lb. as a "reserve" while nursing, so I'd say you're doing great, and not to worry too much about how fast or slowly you lose the rest.
Keeping OP, and taking care of yourself & baby are the most important things. smile.gif
Best wishes,
Tegteg

I gave birth to my daughter on 9/15/02. I weighed in at 194 lbs. This was a 16 lb gain. I came home weighing 172lbs. I started WW in November 2002. I am now 140 lbs. I still have 15 lbs to go. Keep it up!
