Hello! Hope things are going well for everyone! It sure has been quiet in here this weekend - everyone still hanging in there?

Kendra - How are you? You have that baby yet? Do I have a new birthday buddy!?! Can't wait to hear from you!

I had a good weekend. After the soreness wore away from the massage I felt better. I can't exactly pinpoint WHAT feels better, but I do have more energy. I didn't even notice it until last night when I realized that I had exercised 2 days in a row!!!!! (not a lot of exerciseand nothing even close to MODERATE...but about 20 minutes each day!) So anyway - I guess the massage ended up being a good thing. Lisa - I probably could have survived the soreness without an ice pack, but it was late and I was tired and desperate! So I just wanted quick relief so I could go back to sleep! graemlins/sleep.gif

My birthday was yesterday! What Dh and I are fondly calling my last "real" birthday! I turned 29...and plan to stay there until at least 39!!! Anyway - my birthday equaled a weekend full of going out to dinners and shopping! FUN! I think I did OK eating wise...not great...but ok. I'll just prepare myself NOW to gain more than 1 pound this week! ;)

Lisa - I loved your story about not wanting any more kids after one! I try to be reallllyyy careful who I tell...so I don't have to eat mud later if something happens and I end up preg again soon!! I REALLY hope that that doesn't happen! BUT I am aware that accidents happen - and that would be OK too. One of my biggest fears is to have this ONE and then get pregnant with TWINS and then end up with 3 kids! (I was one of 3 kids and uggh there was TOOOO much rivalry and side taking!). Twins are in my family so it isn't outside the realm of possibility!

Well - that is all for now! Things are pretty good right now - I had some REALLLLLY painful gas this morning and even wondered briefly if it might be labor pains since I was had 3 or 4 b-h contractions about every 25-30 minutes (or more) apart...but it went away (sorry! graemlins/ugh.gif ) so things are OK! Anyway - I knew a trip to labor and delivery wasn't necessary - so I didn't even tell DH that I was worried...he would have been running to the car! Other than that things are fine.

Can't wait to hear from everyone else! It has been WAY too quiet in here - I worry about you guys when you don't post!!! smile.gif

***EDIT*** PS - I just wanted to add that I exercised another 15 minutes today!!! I impress even myself!

Hi Everyone! Sorry I've been mia so much, it just hasn't been a good week. I'm so tired of being pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I love this baby and wouldn't trade it for anything, but I'm not enjoying being pregnant. My new problem is hemorrhoids. I had them a couple of months ago, but they weren't really that bad. But on Friday they came back with a bang. I can't sit at all, I can't sleep because I am so sore, and while standing/walking feels best, it is still quite painful (not to mention my legs and feet swell to 3 times their normal size!). I'm afraid they aren't going to go away until after I have the baby and that even then I might need surgery to get rid of them (how embarassing would that be)! I have to continue going to work where I sit at a desk all day. I'm taking Tylenol which takes the edge off the pain, but not nearly enough. Last night I had 1 1/2 hours of sleep.

Okay, I'm done my rant.

I was thinking about the discussion your guys were having about having another baby. I think that despite how difficult this pregnancy has been, I will go through it again (although I am holding out hope that the next one won't be so bad!). I don't want this little one to be an only child and I'm not really interested in adoption (although I totally admire people who do adopt).

I went maternity clothes shopping on Friday and bought a pair of capris from Motherhood Maternity. They were size... are you sitting down?... 2x!!! I was wearing 14-16 when I get pregnant and now I have to wear 2x's! And I haven't gained more weight than I should have. At this point I should have gained 18-24 pounds and I'm at around 20 pounds. Oh well, I was just happy to find something that fit. Old Navy did not have anything that fits me anymore in the way of pants.

On a happy note smile.gif , my shower is this Friday and I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to seeing all my friends and both mine and DH's family will be there. DH's family lives about 6 hours away, so they rarely get to see my family.

Kendra - I hope you are off having your baby!!! :D

Steph - I had a massage about a month ago and it was wonderful! It did hurt a bit, but after the soreness wore off I felt great! I think I'll have to book another one soon. Way to go on the exercise! I think I have forgotten what exercise is (I'm not allowed to do more than walking)! DH is the same way when I mention anything that he thinks should be checked out. Yesterday I was worried that I was leaking amniotic fluid (I wasn't, I think it was just urine, on of my fun new pregnancy related problems odear.gif ) and he wanted to rush me to the emergency room!

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi Buddies!

I’m still checking up on you guys!

I’m sorry that you guys aren’t feeling well, Kelly and Steph! I do not envy you being pregnant during the hottest days of the year! I guess I was lucky to give birth in early July. I only had a few bad days of edema, but that was more than enough for me!

It’s funny that you are talking about having another baby. Believe it or not, DH and I are seriously considering have another baby right away. I always laughed and said "not me" when I heard of couples having children so close together. But, I know that we want to have at least one more, and I do not want to be hugely pregnant during the hot summer months (especially after hearing from you all here!), if I can avoid it. So, it's either we start trying right away (like tomorrow - ha, ha!), or wait another full year to try. And, that biological clock is ticking for me, though I try to ignore it. So, we'll see what happens. I’ve also heard that it’s hard, but great to get the diapers out of the way all at one time.

Motherhood is great! Lexi is doing well and starting to sleep through the night more often. She sleeps through the night every couple of days, or every other day, which is a blessing! Though she still gets up at the crack of dawn, you’d be amazed what an unbroken night of sleep can do for you. I think that I am ready to start exercising again! She is such an angel ~ I look at her in such amazement sometimes, it’s overwhelming! :D :D :D

Kendra: Where are you? Are you giving birth yet? I hope that all is well!!!!!

Kelly: Believe me, I understand being tired and fed up with hemorrhoids. I had them plenty while I was pregnant, but they don’t sound as bad as yours. I hope you are feeling better soon!

Stephanie: I’m glad you are feeling better after your massage and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Take care buddies, and I’ll keep on checking in!

Not a whole lot going on here. I know that I won't be able to post but MAYBE once a day starting Thursday so i am trying to catch up whie I can!

I actually slept 7 hours last night!!! I still got up 3 times to use the bathroom, but I was able to get right back to sleep every time! I am hopeful that I will be able to do that when I am back to working full time! I am going to try to eliminate my afternoon naps (1.5 -2 hours) to try to make me sleep longer at night. I am also going to try taking a warm bath before bed.

Kelly - I haven't had problems with hemorroids during my pregnancy (knock wood!) but I have had them before and I do feel SOOO sorry for you! I was lucky to be teaching in a position where I could actually get away with laying on my side playing on the floor (sped teacher) for a lot of the day to avoid sitting so much! I have been having mild to maybe even moderate problems with urine leaking too! odear.gif Even when I JUST, JUST go to the bathroom - I will stand up, adjust my clothing and dribble! I am going to start wearing pantyliners as soon as I go back to work this week just to avoid having to change panties so often! I am doing kegal exercises as often as I think to do them, but it doesn't seem to be helping yet! My sister is a physical therapist - I am thinking about asking her for more exercises...but she is childless and I am afraid she'll make more fun of me than it is worth if I admit to THAT problem! :D

MOtherhood Maternity is our only maternity store close by here (except for the MUCHO $$$$$ boutiques that only carries FINE business suits and such!) and I had the same experience as you did. Every one of their tags says to buy the same size you wore prepreg! I wore small to medium before and am WELL into their XL clothes! I have tried walmart and kmart too, but their clothes are just so cheap looking and TACKY!!! (and Target doesn't fit anymore...) I don't dare shop online either - because of the size differences in everything - I have to try it on before I buy it!

I can't wait to hear about your shower! My first one was so much fun even though it was just a small, close family get together! I got TONS of clothes! I will have a church shower and a school shower still - so maybe I won't have to buy too much other stuff! ;)

Christine - I have actually been OK so far as far as the hot weather goes. I am a teacher and have been able to lounge around the house all summer in tank tops and shorts with the air cranked! Going back to school will be tough though because I will have carpool and bus duty in the afternoons (90+ degree Memphis heat along with 80+% humidity!) and will have to be wearing pants or dresses. NOT looking forward to that! If I had the option of planning the time I would have for sure decided to deliver in the winter or spring! It is funny though - my dh has a really high metabolism and is really hot natured - he has LOVED me being pregnant because now we are comfortable at the same temperature!

It is SOOOO good that Lexi is already sleeping through the night! Do you have any techniques that you are using - or has she just set the pace? Any good books or words of wisdom to follow?

Stephanie

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I updated my website with a picture of me and my huge belly! And no, I'm not having twins!!!!! I get asked that all the time. I think the next time someone asks I may play dumb and say I'm not pregnant! LOL!

Kelly! You look AMAZING!!! I loved seeing your picture so much that I got the nerve to post my own! Kinda scary though! :D baby page (http://www.latelydavid.net/baby.htm)

I was also asked the other day (by a girl from high school that I haven't seen in YEARS!)..."When are you due?" around Halloween. "Are you SURE!?!" YEP "Are you having TWINS!?" Nope. "are you sure?" pretty sure!

I LOVE, LOVE the sand leo pattern of the nursery! The little bear on it is SOOOOOO cute!!! Is that from Babiesrus? It wouldn't go with my border...but it is SOOOO cute - I wish I found it a few months ago!

Thanks Steph! We did get the bedding and stuffed animals from Babies R Us. I just loved the animal theme, especially since we didn't find out the gender.

I'm so glad you posted your picture - you look fantastic!! :D You know, for some reason I thought you were a brunette. It's funny the impression we get in our heads when we "talk" online!

Hi pregnant ladies!
I'm Sheri and I used to be a frequent visitor around here, but a difficult 1st trimester has kept me away for a while. I'm 23 weeks now with my second boy. DS #1 is 3 years old and I'm a SAHM -- Stay-at-home-mom.

Kelly and Stephanie, you all look great! I get the twin comment a lot, too. It hurts because this pregnancy started out as twins and now one is gone. I even had a complete stranger comment on how big I am just yesterday. graemlins/ugh.gif Anyway, love seeing the baby pictures. At least this makes me more confident that my u/s pictures are of a BOY. They are very different from yours, Stephanie. I'm so happy I found out this time. DH still doesn't believe it, though. I don't know why! Men! I would post my pictures, but I'm computer hopeless and I can't get it to work. By the way, I'm a brunette. LOL

Hi to everyone else! graemlins/wave.gif

P.S. Kelly, tucks pads work very well! I'm not saying how I know that. odear.gif

Oh my gosh! You guys look just great! Be proud!

I took pictures of my profile along the way, too……the scariest picture is one just a couple of weeks before Lexi was born ~ and it was the “me pulling my shirt up” BARE STOMACH photo! You should definitely do one of those, if you haven’t already. It’s so funny to look back at it now! Kinda’ weird, though…

Take care buddies!

YIKES!!! A bare belly photo!!! I will TRY to get the nerve to do that - maybe after my belly button pops out  and I am big, big! I don't know if I will post that one or not though! It might just go STRAIGHT to the pregnancy journal that I am keeping!

Bare belly picture! Yikes!! I may do it, but I don't think I would show it to anyone. I have tonnes of stretch marks!

Steph - My belly button has almost completely popped now!

Christine - I haven't actually found the summer months to be too bad. But I do know people who are struggling with the heat. I think everyone is different in how the heat affects them! I'm so happy you love motherhood so much! Sometimes I hear stories from people who are just unhappy being mothers. Every once in a while I get scared that that will be me. But I don't think it will be. I'm so excited to have a baby and I have realistic expectations of what those first few weeks/months will be like.

Sheri - It's great to see you!! I'm glad to hear you are doing better! Thanks for the tip! odear.gif

Hi there,

I’ve added my belly photos to Lexi’s webpage (address below in my signature). They are under the link, Pregnancy Photos, that is on the main page. I had to shrink the image files, so they are not too close ~ maybe that’s a good thing! I don’t think that I’ll leave them there, but just wanted to share with my Preggie BCB Buddies, who won’t keel over laughing! Now that you’ve seen mine, you might not be too scared to take some of your own. You guys are the first that I’ve shared them with besides DH!

Kelly, don’t worry about motherhood. You will be an awesome mommy. I had heard many horror stories, and had the same worries that you had. It’s really not that bad in the beginning. The first few weeks are definitely stressful and tiring. Granted, even now there are bad days and bad periods, but you get through it. Whenever that happens, I just feel so bad that I’m unable to help her. Usually when we go through a tough period it’s because she has gas. It’s hard not being able to do much to help her, except hold her.

Now that she is two months old (!!!!!), we are so much more comfortable with each other ~ I’m beginning to know her cries, and what they mean. We are settling into a routine with each other. And, now that she smiles and laughs, how frustrated can you get????? She’s also sleeping through the night almost every night. Of course, she doesn’t have colic and I know that can be so difficult, but we are very lucky that she didn’t have it. DH is also a great help, so hopefully you have a good support system in place ~ that can make a difference too.

Anyway, better get some things done around here! Enjoy (don’t be too scared) the belly pics!

Christine

I think I could take a belly shot from across the room like that...It wouldn't capture the roadmap of stretchmarks and dark blue veins! :D Thanks for sharing - it wasn't scary at all! lol I LOVE looking at the pics of Lexi in July - the one of her smiling is so contagious!!!

OMG - I am sooooooooo tired!!! graemlins/sleep.gif Going back to work yesterday has me reallllyyyy worn out! I guess I didn't realize how much time I spent actually laying down this summer(with no pressure on my back muscles) until yesterday when I did nothing but sit in inservices all day and I could BARELY sit up to drive home! Tonight I am going to eat dinner, take the hottest bath that the baby will allow and then BEG for a really good back rub from DH! I am even considering taking tylenol for my backache.

I wore a belly strap thingy almost all day today and it seemed to help - compared to how I felt yesterday anyway. I went out and bought a posture bra also today that I am gonna try on monday along with the strap. Between my bbs and the belly I don't know if I will make it another 12 weeks! Actually - "secretly" I am counting down to 38 weeks - thats just 10 weeks away. I would be PERFECTLY happy to have her 2 weeks early - it is technically full term!

anyway - I'll hopefully see you guys around this weekend and I'll try to get by as much as I can next week. But sleep and NOT sitting up is going to be my priority when I'm home for a few weeks until I get used to working again! So - I'll be around - just not so much probably!

Have a good weekend!

I'm here to try this again. After an unsuccessful attempt that ended this past January, we are hopeful this pregnancy will stick.

My first appointment is Aug 19th and I will have one every week until the doc performs the c-section. At the very least I will have an idea as to what is happening this time around.

Talk to you soon,
Tricia

Born August 2 at 5:41 pm. 9 lbs, 3 oz!

It was a tough delivery, but soooo worth it. She is gorgeous!

I am SO sorry it took me so long to tell you guys! A baby is so much work. LOL

I promise I'll be back soon with pics!! ((((hugs))) for everyone!!

Congratulations Kendra!!!! :D :D :D :D I'm so excited for you! Take care of yourself and your little girl! I can't wait to see pictures (no hurry though I know you must be busy smile.gif )!

Tricia - Congratulations on your pregnancy! I will keep you in my prayers that you go on to deliver a beautiful baby! It's great that they are monitoring you so closely!

Steph - I'm secretly counting down to 38 weeks too! I know I'm just setting myself up for disappointment because first babies are almost always late, but I can't help it! I hope you feel better soon! I know how horrible it can be to feel tired all the time.

Christine - Your belly pic is so cute! Thanks so much for the encouraging words! I have a friend who just had a baby and she is loving motherhood, so I'm feeling very encouraged by that!

We had our baby shower on Friday. It was so much fun! I can't believe how much stuff we got! But it also makes me realize how much stuff we still need! We did not get any clothes, which really surprised me. But I think because we didn't find out the gender, people have a hard time buying clothes. There isn't as much yellow and green out there as I thought, it's all blue and pink! Also, I guess end of October is getting into colder months and all the clothes are still summer. Anyway, it's time for us to go shopping!

Talk to you all later!

Tricia - Congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope that things go better this time! Do you already have a scheduled date for your c-section? My doctor has been monitoring me pretty closely (not every week though) and it is soooooo comforting each time to go in and find the heartbeat and each time I see her on ultrasound (5 times now!) it makes waiting so much easier! So - if you haven't had that first appointment yet...how far along are you? Congratulations again! I can't wait to hear your updates each week!

Kendra - we knew where you were! ;) 9 pounds 3 ounces!!!!! Oh my goodness!!! You just couldn't hold out another 7 hours to have her on my birthday huh? Just kidding! :D I'd love to hear your birth story whenever you have time to tell it. Can't wait to see pictures!!!

Kelly - I am hoping that at my school shower we get more "gear" types of things. But I think that since we DO know the gender it makes people want to buy more clothes - especially the cute little girl stuff!!! We are already almost "set" on our clothes between my family shower and the 10 cent bargains that I have been collecting at yard sales! I still need most of my big stuff...car seat, stroller, swing, bathtub, etc...but I guess we'll have to actually go and buy that stuff ourselves!! lol

I feel better now at the end of the weekend. I have one more work day in the classroom and then the kids come back on Tuesday. I am getting 2 new students this year and that will be sorta tough at first (separation anxiety) but I'd rather get them now and have my class be "full" than to have my substitute have to worry aboout enrolling new kids!

Anyway - not much to report really...oh! I almost forgot!!! Friday night I got...are you ready for this...10 hours of total sleep!!!!!!!! I only got up once in the night too!!! WOOO-HOOO! I felt GOOOD Saturday thanks to that! :D :D :D

Hey everyone.Hope you all are doing well aside from all these little aches, pains and wonderful pregnancy symptoms.LOL.My butt bone and straight down left leg can hurt so bad I think I'm going to drop.I went for a check up today and my glucose tolerance test.Everything is good. They wanted to monitor me but the skin is so thick at the bottom of my stomach they can't get the baby's heartbeat. The only way for them to get it is through ultrasound. This worries me so and makes me kick myself for being overweight.I did lose 2.5 pounds this week.My job is getting interesting. The other girl in our office turned in her notice this morning so now I have to train someone to do her job and mine or there will no one to work in my office.

Howdy Buddies! graemlins/wave.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will be 6 weeks tomorrow. My first appointment with the doc is Aug 19th. I really hope it is good news for a change.

I have been frequently nauseous these last few days and the feeling is getting stronger. I keep hoping this is a sign that this pregnancy will be successful. The last time I felt like this was 6 years ago when I successfully carried my son. The first 5 months of pregnancy were awful! Never realized what a blessing it was...

I have found clothes at The Gap online (in the past). Sometimes they have really great sales and if anything doesn't fit you can return it to any Gap store. And JC Penney did well with their sizing 6 years ago. I assume they are still close.

Stephanie - How's your first week of school (with students) going? My son starts kindergarten on Monday. We get to meet his teacher tonight. We are really excited.

Kel - Have fun shopping for baby stuff! It's amazing how something so little needs so much stuff!!

Sheri - Sorry to hear your first trimester was so tough, but I'm glad to see you posting now. You're more than halfway through, just hang in there.

Ronda - Think of how much harder this pg. would be if you hadn't lost 97 pounds first! Are you still trying to lose weight? Or does the doc weigh you every week (to notice the 2.5 pound loss?) I'm sorry about the pain, just try not to overdo it. How far along are you?

Talk to ya'll soon. Take care.

School is going pretty good. I have two classes (AM and PM) and today I just filled my last spot! I now have 8 children with moderate to severe disabilities and 5 typically developing children. It makes for a CRAZY day!!! The "special" children that I have are absolutely no problem to me - I AM however having stress over keeping the typical kids from tearing every toy out at the same time and making huge messes all over the place! Only 2 of them have ever been in formalized education before (have stay at home moms) so they have to learn ALL the rules of conduct and how to share! SO - It HAS been fun - but boy am I wiped out!

I am officially 29 weeks now - and 7.5 months! It seems so weird that I am now just 11 weeks away (or 9!! ;) ). I am REALLY able to feel her moving now and stretching! The stretching feels weird because my whole belly stretches to the right when she stretches! I haven't seen any elbows or knees yet, but I am waiting!

I do have a question for you pros...does your belly button always "pop" out? Mine is close, but it is still "in"...I was just wondering...I am guessing that I still had so much extra skin from before I lost weight that it had more room to grow than if I had never been overweight...I dunno... :D

ChristineP

Hi Stephanie,

Mine never popped out….just S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D further than I had ever seen it!!!!! :D  :D It’s still not completely back to normal. My mom’s never popped out either, so maybe it runs in the family?

Not much going on with me. I'm cranky from getting very little sleep last night due to the heat (we didn't get power back until this morning so the air wasn't working), but it makes me think back to my university days when every night was like that!

Steph - My belly button has almost completely popped now! Just a little bit at the top hasn't come completely out. It is very weird! I find it a little fascinating, but DH thinks it's gross! :D It feels so weird when the baby stretches doesn't it?! Yesterday I sat at work and watched my tummy move for about 5 minutes. It looked like there was an alien in my tummy! That is definately my favourite part of being pregnant! Whenever I feel down about something, all it takes is a kick to make me feel better!

Tricia - I'm sorry you're feeling sick, but I'm also glad that it is a good sign for you! I was sick up until around 20 weeks and now I'm back to being sick again, so I know how it feels!

Rhonda - Congrats on a negative glucose test! It is a relief to get the results back and find out you don't have diabetes isn't it.

Kendra - Still thinking of you! I hope you are loving your time with your little one!

Hi all you guys!
I am sorry that I haven't written anything here for awhile. As you all - or most know my FIL has been battling terminal colon cancer for the past 1.5 yrs.
A little over a week ago he died. It has been very stressfull here. DH and I had to fly out to be with his 2 younger brothers ( aged 22 and 24) who are taking it very hard. My DH is 34 and has dealt with a death in the past of his best friend-but these two siblings literally are feeling like the world has fallen. I feel bad for them all.

Once the services were all taken care of and we were home again we decided to take the kids on afamil vacation to vancouver BC and see all the attractions. The thrill for the two of them was the sky train and the seaboats...part of the only way to get to where we wanted to go!~ lol

We had fun and I am back now.

I am almost 32 weeks and feel awesome. We did do a LOT of walking during the time we were away and boy did I feel it in my boes. Not my tummy or my legs but in my pelvic /crotch area. That was a new pain!

Steph- my button never popped out with either child. Then again I was heavier by about 50 pounds for each of their pregnancies. Right now mine look EXACTLY the same as prior to being pregnant.
So far no stretch marks!!! yah...have plenty enough from the last! Most of them though came when I was about 14 and started to gain weight...When I got preg with the kids I got a few extra...touch wood I will get no more.

I send congrats to all of you who are pulling and lugging your bellies to work each day. I think I would about die if I was at work right now.
I did that with baby #1 and that was hard enough!
Baby #2 I was off work since he was so ill.
this time around I am not working at all.
Wish I was though since we get the yr off with pay now!!! With baby #1 it was still just 6 months...which is just the time when baby starts to really rely on you!!!

Anyway- will chart to you all later...
I have a Dr. appt on the 18th and will tell you the grand total of baby weight in there.

As much as I DO NOT want to go OVERDUE (!!) I do think it would be really great to have a little spook! Halloween has always been my absolute favorite holiday so this would make it even better! We have already figured out how EASY birthday parties will be - never gonna have to think of a "theme"! The only problem is that here in the Bible belt - midsouth - SO MANY people do not celebrate the holiday at all - so hopefuly that won't interfere with costumed "fall" birthday parties!

We already decided that her coming home outfit is gonna be a pumpkin costume (bunting type) and that we're gonna make her hospital pictures in that as well. We were planning on just buying the costume, but my friend who is a nurse told me that the babies at the hospital on the 31st get a free pumpkin costume! so - anyway - she'll be our little punkin...

AND if she happens to come a bit early - we'll just have her first costume already in hand and can take her treating at grammas in it that night (not door to door though! lol)

Things have been going pretty well here - still not sleeping great, but looking at the alternatives I think that is a pretty good symptom to have - so I'm not complaining! smile.gif My hips have been streeeeeettttcccchhhhhiiiinnnnngggg this week! I have just been so achy in both of them! Also having some b-h contractions (actually several today) so things are getting warmed up for the big day! It is so exciting and scary at the same time!

The hormones get out of control sometimes too! I sat and cried last night to poor dh about EVERYTHING that I could think of! I did have real reasons to be crying...but I just let them all pour out at the same time! graemlins/sobbing.gif He didn't know what to do - poor guy! He is so good to me!

Kelly - have you seen the carters outfit with the little teddy bear embroidered on it (he is kinda sideways next to the buttons). I got a green one today at a yard sale and it is sooooooo cute - I thought of you with the green! Thinking about you being stuck in the heat...my FAVORITE place to be right now is in my car with the air conditioning just blasting! I just LOVE the cool air and could drive for hours!

Lisa - WOW! Where did you go that it took sky trains and sea boats to get there!?! Sounds like so much fun - I know your boys had to of had a great time! I am sorry to hear about your fil :( Please know that I am thinking about your family right now...

Ronda - I agree - just think if you were still those 97 pounds heavier! I think your numbers are inspiring - to lose almost 100 pounds is SO AWESOME! And you know - the rest will come off after baby - AND you get lots of pictures of your little one with the ultrasounds! I did my glucose too this week, but don't know the results yet. Good luck with training the girl at work. It is so often just easier to do it yourself than to train someone new!

hi there---hey Steph,....2 weeks over and the punpkin idea could be squashed!!!! heheheh

Um...we went to Vancouver BC. WE took a long walk from our hotel to the sky train station, then on to the seabus from there...over to Granville island.
Science world
and stanley park.
Look it up on Google the pics and info are awesome!

WE leave on the 24th for one more family vacation...then I guess that will be it for the summer and the little one will arrive.

My friend had her baby on the 14th ...I went and saw her in the hospital and again later tonight at home!
What a cute peanut.
I keep obsessing over the whole birth experience....and worrying about it.
I know I have done it 2x already ( and we obviously forget to some extent) but this time seems to be worse for me for some reason! I worry day and night.....

then I keep telling myself that I won't die..it will be 24 hrs or less ( baby #1 was 18 hrs and baby #3 was 26 hrs). I will be fine and I will get a new baby out of all the pain and discomfort.....
then I dream all night long!!
Not to mention the stress zits right now too!!!

Whaaaa whaaa I know.
I will check back tomorrow!
Take care

uggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh LISA! That's NOT even funny!!!!! :D NO - She WILL be our little Punkin! I am the Mommy and I SAID so! lol if only it worked that way right!?!

I actually haven't started to really stress about the birth experience...maybe I am hopelessly naive...but it is too late to turn back now so I might as well deal with it! smile.gif The first part of labor freaks me out a little bit since it is drug-free, but I want as many pain meds as they will offer me. and I'm also a LITTLE bit worried about the drive to the hospital since it takes 45 minutes (with no traffic) to get there...and up to 2 hours during rush hour! So we are trying to get together some alternate routes just in case she decides that 5:00 PM would be the perfect time to come! Ok - thanks! NOW - I am freaking out! just kidding! smile.gif

I had a lady at work (who had 3 babies totally natural) tell me the other day about how God designed our bodies to handle labor pains...and that is how He designed us, so why interfere with that...MY belief is that God also gave man the knowledge and ability to create these wonderful drugs - so why not use them!? Kelly - are you still planning on going natural? What about you others? God love you for deciding that...but it is definitely NOT for me! (I figure that even if an epidural only half works...that at least HALF of my body doesn't hurt! lol)

LOL..Lisa I thought I was the only one stressing over giving birth.I know I've done it once before but I've thought just the same way you have. The first time they started me on a Thursday and I finally had ds by Ceaseran Saturday night at 11:40pm.I hope my body cooperates this time.My feeling on meds.Well the first time they doped me pretty early.I felt like I lost complete control of everything. The epidural didn't work. This time I am going to try to go as long as possible before I get an epidural.I do not want anything else put in my IV like they did last time.I feel like a lot of what they did so early on slowed me down.I plan to use a picture of DS as a focal point.I don't want to be in the hospital six days like last time so I hope I'm strong enough to see it through.Good luck to everyone.Wonder which one of us is going to have that Halloween baby?Don't think I'm crazy but I hope I am a week overdue so I can be out of work during Christmas.LOL.Let's hope little Dylan cooperates.

Kel

Yep, I still hope to go med free if possible! I have absolutely nothing against anyone who wants meds though (people often assume that because I don't want meds that I look down on people who do, which isn't true). I think everyone is different and it is their personal right to decide what their birth experience will be. I am not ruling out pain medication, but I am more afraid of the pain medication than I am of the pain, so I'm really hoping to avoid it! I have bad reactions to many medications, so I don't really want to know what my reaction would be to an epidural!

Oh, and I believe that God probably doesn't care how we give birth! Yes, He made our bodies designed for birth, but he also made us smart enough to come up with medications. It is our decision as to what we do with the choices we have.

A book I would recommend if you are nervous about birth is The Birth Book by Dr. Sears. It talks about all kinds of births (including medicated) and has about 30 birth stories at the back (from c-sections, to epidurals, to med free).

It's funny, I was nervous about birth, but I've done so much reading and DH and I have been practicing that I'm actually excited about it and looking forward to it! I know, I'm strange! I just feel empowered I guess.

Are you guys taking pre-natal classes? Mine start in about 3 weeks and end 2 weeks before I'm due! They are affiliated with my midwife, so they focus on med free births, but I know there are many around that are more focused on medications as well. I just hope I don't have the baby before the classes are done!

Anyway, enough ramblings from me! Talk to you all later! Oh, I hit 30 weeks today!!!! I'm so happy to have entered the 30's, especially since it looked like this baby might come at 23 weeks.

OK LADIES!!!!...
Let me start by saying that I will NOT be having the Hallowween pumpkin and I will not look like one at that point either as I would be 3 weeks overdue!!! argh!!!

45 min to the hospital. That works well for people like me who have hours and hours to go but until you have one ( and they are all different) you just never know how fast they will come into the world. I have nothing to worry about! My hospital is about 8 min away at 50 km/hr on a regular day...5 speeding.

Thanks for the info on the book. I will go see if the local library has a copy. I can't say that excited would ever be a word I would use when describing labour and delivery BUT then again my experiences haven't been ideal either. I wish I could be as relaxed as you and be excited. It would sure have a lot less stress on me right now. lol

I think the 1st time we don't know what to expect and it is more the fear of the unknown- and for some it goes really well. In the end we all have nice cute babies- some just have a harder time of it. The 2nd time round we compare and know what to expect and we fear that it will be the same or worse.- we still end up with the cute little baby though. I wouldn't change my experiences but I sure wish this 3rd one would give me a small break and have it arrive a tad sooner than 26+ hours! lol

I am a person who must lay down while having blood taken! I faint. If I can make it through long labours ANYBODY can. heheh
I shiver at the thought of an epidural as you can imagine! At the time that they arrive ( after 4cm dialated here) it was welcome -though they had the fear of God in me that if I moved I would become paralized!! So I never moved and was seriously loving the man who admininstered it. The laughing gas works well but only for so long...then the massage and shower.

I too tend to agree that the meds MAY have slowed me down and MAYBE the induction with baby #2 slowed me down as well. I will never know but a lot of people who have been induced SEEM to have longer labours. Who knows,. Just my thoughts.

Baby #2 was actually delivered without the epidural as the dr. was new and put it in the wrong spot. In fact- it was just leaking onto the hospital bed.... So I do know the feeling of natural and not so natural. I prefer the nor so natural as the pain were a lot less intense and I was able to relax a bit more.

Either way- it can't be that bad if I am here - prego again for the 3rd time- by choice! lol

well- I should sign off as all my ice is now gone. I eat about 1/2 bag of ice a day...you know the big ones you buy from the grocery store?
I can just imagine the dental work I may need from the crunching!
I just can't help it. Seems to be the only craving I have when prego- could be worse I suppose!

I will check back later...

Going to the dr in the morning and will update you guys.

Hello Everyone!

I am totally new to this board and all, having just found out about it last week. I'm planning to start WW as soon as I deliver (but I'll be nursing so I'm not sure about the points and everything). I am going to be a first time mommy on or about (hopefully!) September 10. Just 3 weeks!! yikes! I am totally understanding all of the posts about the meds at delivery. I had someone tell me the other day that it was cruel to have an epidural b/c the baby would be born stoned. I've learned just to ignore the ingnorant. I am NOT a big pain person, so drugs sound right up my alley! I definatly don't want them to induce me though b/c, like someone else said, I kind of think it may start the process happening, but I know a lot of my friends said it prolonged the labor b/c the baby just wasn't quite ready yet. I don't know. What do you guys think? Any info would be greatly appreciated... especially about the whole WW program with nursing!

Welcome Jessica and congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm expecting my first at the end of October. I can't believe someone would say that the baby will be born stoned if you have an epidural! While an epidural does get into the baby's bloodstream, he/she will not be stoned! Epidural babies do tend to be a little less alert at birth, but it doesn't last long and most of the time there is no harm done to the baby (in some cases the epidural can have negative effects on the baby, but it is extremely rare). Anyway, I don't want an epidural for many reasons (one of them being the potential risks to the baby - everyone has to decide for themselves whether the risk is acceptable to them, like I said, it is very small), but I didn't want you to think that the baby would be harmed because most of the time that is not the case. I would definately like to avoid an induction as well. Inductions tend to lead to other interventions that I don't want - epidurals especially because they induce you too quickly and the pain comes on too fast and c-sections because the baby wasn't ready to come out. But if I go more than a week overdue, my midwife will induce. But I'm hoping that I can get them to do it slowly so it isn't so bad.

Anyway (sorry, I go on sometimes smile.gif ), my best recommendation is to research birth (online and books) and make a decision that is right for you. There are no medals for childbirth, so you have to do what you need to do to cope and deliver a healthy baby! I figure I'll go into this with a plan, but I also understand that my plan may not work for the birth I will experience so I have to be flexible and willing to change the plan if need be.

I expect to start the nursing WW plan after the baby comes. I haven't decided exactly when I will start it. I may wait 6 weeks just to get used to the baby first, but we'll see how I feel. My understanding is that you add 10 points to your losing points range to account for the calories you burn nursing.

I have heard and read the same thing that kelly mentioned. In the past some of the drugs did cause the babies to be more sluggish, but they have refined the meds so that they barey affect the babies at all! I don't really know anything that Baby Story or "What to Expect" didn't address...so I am no expert! :D

I have to plug Playtex's 18 hour posture bra! I have been wearing one for the last several days and it has TREMENDOUSLY helped my backaches! My only complaint is that there is only one row of hooks around the chest (it isn't adjustable at all) it fits in the mornings, but digs into my chest by late afternoon. (I just put a small handkerchief between the bra and my skin) It is worth it though to be almost backache free!

I am hot, hot, hot and miserable! It was 95 degrees here today with the heat index being over 105 degrees! even with air conditioning it is horrible! I had to go grocery shopping and just about sweated into a puddle! This is always the hottest month around here - so just a few more weeks to go...ugh. I would love to be a little more north right now!

So many posts in the preggie section. Well congratulations to all of you preggies. Babies are wonderful - enjoy the younger years. There are so many advantages of just one child and more than one child. I have 4 and am waiting for grandbabies - no luck yet. I remember when my oldest was the only child. One day I woke up, saw him watching TV and said to my DH - he needs a little brother or sister. Wala - he got a baby brother a year later. He was so loving to him and it was wonderful seeing them interact. Then came 3 and 4 and now the youngest is 17 years old. Time has gone by so very fast. I just want to say Good luck to all of you and your decisions on having #2 and for those with just experiencing their first one now or to be - it will be a wonderful experience.

Hey everyone.I had a scare yesterday started spotting and had to go see my Doctor.I have a bacterial infection which he says is common in pregnancy.Does this common stuff never end?I am proud of myself though because I did not panic. He said I'm closed which is a good thing at 30 weeks.I want to keep Dylan in there till atleast November 1st.How is everyone else doing?Any trouble sleeping?I wake up every two hours.I figure it's practice.Take care everyone.

Ronda-
been there...done that! I had spotting for unknown reasons - at 22 weeks. I tried not to panic, but it was still scary - I guess because it was too early for her to live without me...I am SO TIRED of all of these "common" things too! I think my head could rot off and my doc would say that it is nothing to worry about!

As far as sleeping goes - that is my worst, terrible symptom that I have! I cannot sleep more than 3 hours at a time - on a good night. Most nights it is 1.5-2 hours. I try not to fret over it and call it practice too, but it does get so old! One night last week I slept for 7 hours straight without even getting up to go to the bathroom! I woke up and just couldn't believe it! I felt like those days in highschool when I would sleep all day! And that was just 7 hours! I haven't found anything that really helps me sleep...warm bath, hot milk, massage, benadryl! nothing helps. So now I try to go to bed earlier and then at least my 2 hour increments add up to about 6-7 all together! I am already so exhausted though - I don't know what I will do when she actually gets here and keep sme up all the time. I am just hoping that I AM able to sleep when she is sleeping and catch up that way! Right now I can't sleep at all, so anything would be an improvement! ;)

I got my test results back today from my glucose test - she left a message on my machine - so I don't know the details, but she said that my blood was "good" whatever that means! So - that is good news! No diabetes! I think they also tested for anemia, but I am not sure...

anyway - 9:00 - time for bed! Actually past time for bed! Have a great day tomorrow!

Kel

Karyn - Thanks for the encouraging words! By the way, my mom sells Melaluca and I love their products! (I saw your Mom team link)

Rhonda - I'm glad to hear everything is okay! I think the scares never end, even once the baby is here!

Steph - Ugg, I'm with you on the sleep. I sleep in half hour to one hour increments. I'm a zombie these days and really crabby too! I'm actually thinking of stopping work earlier than I anticipated because I'm really not able to focus when I get no sleep. Last night I got about 2 hours sleep total and I'm a witch at work today (I've already bitched at someone today when I should have kept my mouth shut). I think I'm going to get more sleep when the baby comes! I'm hoping that once I can sleep on my back and stomach again that at least the little sleep I do get will be good quality.

I'll tell you all what is helping me get atleast enough sleep to function. When I wake up all stiff because I can't get into pisitions I once could.I grab a blanket and head for the recliner. It's a new place,it's cool and if you suffer from heartburn just because your breathing like me then it helps with that too.I usually can sleep this way atleast 4 hours before waking. It's nothing for me to go back and forth during the night.DH will find me some mornings in recliner. He doesn't say anything just kisses me bye.The worst thing is Dh has to get up at 3:45am.His clock is bad enough but if he's having a bad morning and is real clumsy dropping stuff I can hang it up.I will be up for the duration and of course in my house it means war.LOL.Hope this helps some of you atleast.

anon236
08-21-2003, 01:36 PM
we don't have a recliner, but that is sorta what I do too. I agree to lay there (like I tell my preschoolers!) and "just rest with your eyes closed - you don't have to sleep" for one hour. If I am still wide awake after an hour then I go to the couch and have a warm glass of milk or other snack (oatmeal, toast, cereal, etc) and then try to sleep on the couch. I can usually get the pillows arranged around my hips to somehow (!) be able to sleep at about a 45 degree angle. If I am still wide awake I will turn the radio on to the classical station (and try to "meditate" at least) or as a last resort enjoy some favorite sitcoms on nick at night!

Glad to hear I'm not alone on the sleep issue! graemlins/sleep.gif

Hi guys!!

I feel so bad for all you guys.
I sleep just fine but only for 3-4 hours at a time. Sometimes shorter. I have to go pee all the time is why I wake up. Then again I get up at least 2 times when I am not pregnant anyway- so I am pretty used to it.
I use a body pillow and switch from side to side with one leg wrapped around it...something to try of you haven't yet.
We also don't have a recliner but it sounds good. I have never been able to sleep sitting up at all so am not sure if that would work for me. I don't think that would stop me from having to go wee weee . lol

I went to my Dr. apr and all is fine. I am measuring 34 weeks already...so am pretty close to actual dates!
Baby MAY be breeech at this point as the kicking isn't in the "normal" area and the Dr. couldn't feel the head down. Last week it was!!!! grrrr

The heart beat though is back up again to about 15o...fingers crossed!

Hey everyone.Hope you slept well last night.I wanted to ask.Have any of you starting having morning sickness in your last trimester?I wasn't sick in begining as much as I have started being in tha last few days.I'm trying to watch what I eat but then I get sick and then I'm hungry again.I have gained 45 pounds total which puts me back up to 390.I refuse to go any higher and reach 400.I have been really pushing my water, eating more fruits when I'm hungry and when I want something sweet I fix 1% milk with lite chocolate syrup.I woke of this morning and my feet were still really swollen. This is the first morning this happened. My feet usually go down by morning.I ate pork last night and wonder if that could have anything to do with it?I'm drinking extra water today to hopefully combat it.Anyone else have these problems and do any of you who have stayed pretty close to op have any advice?

Kel

Ronda - My m/s has come back too. It came back about 2 weeks ago. I had to go back on my medication that I was on earlier in my pregnancy. I guess some of us are just unlucky! I also have some swelling, but it is usually at night. I have yet to get any swelling in the morning. You are doing the right thing - drink lots of water. If you find the swelling doesn't go down, you might want to contact your doctor as swelling can be a sign of more serious problems (but most of the time it is not).

Lisa - You are braver than I am! I don't even want to know what my waist measurements are right now! I hope the difference this time means a girl for you though!

I'm still struggling with sleep. I've tried moving to the couch, sleeping sitting up, etc., but nothing seems to work. I have a midwife appointment on Tues. so I'm going to ask if there is anything I can take to help me sleep better. I am now going on over a week with no more than 2-3 hours sleep a night. I think I'll be heading for a nap pretty soon!

Well - TODAY things are going pretty well! I had a really long, yucky weekend though! I swear that I had every symptom of premature labor - just not all at the same time@! I had nausea, menstrual like cramps, bh contractions, achy hips and pubic pain...ugggghhhhh! Each came separately - so I never even called the nurse, but I was just so miserable! I also was just exhausted!

I don't think the baby's head has "descended" yet - I still feel her laying in all different directions! EVEN side to side!!! she is WAY to big for that now! It feels like my stomach will just pop open!! I TRY to tell her that there is only one way out!!! lol not yet though! 7-9 more weeks! graemlins/crazy.gif :D

Computer is acting crazy so I am gonna post this before I lose evrything - I will do personals later! smile.gif

goodmorning you pregos!
Today is Saturday and the sun is out and VERY hot here. Getting ready to take my "baby" to grade one- full time school this next week. How sad is that. Seems like he was just born but a few yrs ago...

I went to the dr. yesterday and I have gained 3 pounds in just 2 weeks!!! ouch! that is a total of 32 pounds so far and I am 34+ weeks. I should ave gained 2 pounds so it was only an extra pound but still. I haven't gained that much in a whole month up until now. lol
Oh well. I know how to get it off after baby arrives. Id any of you know the new Flex points I would really appreciate you posting it since I haven't been able to attend the meetings for a long time now.

the baby's head is down and ready to go. Blood pressure and urine etc are all just fine.
I am feeling very tired and anxious to get this baby out. Funny thing is with baby #1 I was fine right up until delivery without being too exhausted. With baby #2 the last 4 weeks dragged on...now with this one the last 6 have been taking a toll on me. It seems with each one I burn out a bit sooner near to the end.

I will be thankful though that I won't be having to do this again. I love the kids but hate being pregnant. Not for any other reason bu that it is very draining. I am not one of these ladies who walks around with a perfect basketball in the front and never waddles a day in the life of her pregnancy! far from it!

Anyway- hope you all have a nice weekend. I am going to pack up here and get the kids to the big sandy beach around the corner.

Will check back later---been pretty quiet here lately...what are you all up to?

Hello! I am around - but the fatigue and exhaustion has really set in the past week or so and it has taken SO much energy to just come and read! Things are going pretty well here! The aches and pains went away from last weekend and now I am just hanging in there for the next 6-8 weeks!

NOt a lot going on personally - work is about the same - it is getting so hard to get up and down from the floor! It is a required part of my job though so I try not to complain too much! tongue.gif !

Dh is in a rock band and they have a gig this afternoon at a local music festival - it is a pretty big deal around here - so we are excited about that! I keep hoping that exposing the baby to loud music will make her more likely to be able to sleep through anything when she is little! Their website is Lately David (http://www.latelydavid.net) if anyone is interested!

oh - one other thing...once I "resolved" in my mind that I liked Zadie Ann - and have started calling her that (secretly - when we were alone just the baby and I) - dh came to me yesterday and said that it doesn't "feel right" to him anymore! So we are back to square one - I'm not sure that I can (or even really want to anymore) convince him to like that name! SO - any more unique ideas?!?!

Kelly - how is the sleep going? We haven't heard from you this week...hope that your little one and you are still hanging in there! smile.gif

Lisa - OH! I wish there was a big sandy beach around here to play at! I would be splashing around every chance I would get! Well...maybe not this pregnant - I'm not THAT comfortable with my belly! I also do not have the perfect basketball! I asked DH yesterday if I had a basketball or a watermelon and her said "kinda both!" THANKS hon! :D

Ronda - about being OP...There are MANY days that I am not even close to being OP. As far as being in the mindset - I think that if you add those extra points and then keep track of them in a journal (or even in your head) that is what counts. It is still perfectly acceptable - and even very healthy to be in a conscious mindset. You know eating splenda sweetened foods, vegetarian meals, and lots of fruits and veggies! Just being AWARE is my goal most days. Making healthier choices. I do have to admit though that I don't deprive myself of anything that I want that is healthy. I figure that my body wants it for a reason. THAT being said...I have gained a little bit more than I would have liked to by now AND I am now hungrier than ever! So - I am trying to really decide if I am hungry when I am craving something or if it is HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired). I keep up with my points to make sure that I have at least the minimum every day (30 for me) but beyond that I have let myself have LOTS of flexibility with the program. But in summary - I don't think that "regular ww" is a bad thing at all...especially since you were overweight to begin with...just be sure to get in those fruits, veggies, and milks! And then if a couple of days a week things go hay wire - don't beat yourself up! Just get back to it and make better decisions starting the next meal...you know - regualr ww! You can do this - you have already lost almost 100 pounds and can write a book on the subject! Have faith in yourself! ;)Are there any specific issues that we can help you troubleshoot?

Have a great week everyone! I'll try to get back here sometime this week...but bedtime has been about 7:45 lately - so if I'm not here - don't worry about me! ;)Stephanie

Hi Ladies!

I'm still around. Sleep hasn't improved much. I didn't fall asleep until 4am this morning. Thank goodness I could sleep in! Sometimes I can't believe there are 8 weeks left of this! I feel like there is so much left to do, but I also feel like I want this baby out now!!

I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to make sure my placenta has moved out of the way (it was quite low at my 18w ultrasound). I'm looking forward to a look at my little one! I know he/she is head down and bum up (I see the bum move across my stomach, it's very weird!), but I want to know where the arms and legs are. I'm getting kicks on both sides, so I can't tell.

Something interesting (and probably TMI) is that I am starting to lose my mucus plug. I think it might be a little early, but I know that many people go quite a while after losing it before delivering.

Steph - The same name thing happened to me! We had decided on a boys name and then I wasn't sure I liked it. But after some time I am back to liking the name we picked. I am not great with unique names so I can't really help you there, but I hope you come up with something you both like. Picking names has to be one of the most difficult things to do!

Ronda - I hope the swelling goes down! I have been swelling a bit, but not a huge amount. I agree that water will help!

Lisa - I gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks at my last appointment too! But then the next day I was down on my home scale. So it might have been water retention. Since it is warm where you are, you might be experiencing the same thing. Oh, and I've been waddling for weeks now! I'm definately not one of those women who have great pregnancies either!

I'm off, talk to you all later!

I've been able to be on a little more this weekend. There are really no specifics I need help with just the over all.I worry about all this extra weight and delivery. My health and the babies.I worry if they have to do a c-section how bad will it be since I'm bigger this time.I would really like to drop a few pounds before delivery. The Dr. says it's fine.My regualr ww points would be 32 to 37 but I get scared it may hurt the baby if I were to be in that range and for some reason when I try op that's where I end up.I have a real hard time with the Fruits and Veggies. Some of the ones I like give me major heartburn such as tomatoes, bananas(SP),lettuce, cucumbers, oranges, gra pefruits. You get the picture.I pretty much can't look at anything that doesn't give me heartburn.I lean more towards carbs and the proteins like peanuts, cashews and pistachios. All of this I know is not the best choices.I constantly struggle with not knowing what I want to eat and never being satisfied.Any of you have this problem?
