Diet Vanilla Pepsi vs Diet Vanilla Coke

I have always been partial to Pepsi...and have always hated Coke. When the new Vanilla Coke came out I tried it and was THRILLED. Then I started WW and gave up soda as I am loathe to drink points. Then, they came out with Diet Vanilla Coke which uses a blend of aspertame and acesulfame potassium (Ace K). This blend allows them to use less aspertame which means NO icky aftertaste!!!
YEAH!!!
Well, my beloved Pepsi just came out with THEIR Diet Vanilla soda and I checked the ingredients and they use the same blend!!! YEAH!!! So I bought a 12 pack secure in the knowledge that it would be YUMMY!
BOY, WAS I WRONG!!!
I could hardly gag that stuff down!!! BLECH!!!! I took the whole rest of the 12 pack across the street to my girlfriend who drinks Diet Pepsi all the time.
Then I called both Coke and Pepsi to find out the information. Here's what they told me the ingredients are per 12 oz can:
Diet Vanilla Coke has 46mg caffeine, 50mg aspertame, and 34mg acesulfame potassium.
Diet Vanilla Pepsi has 35mg caffeine, 124mg aspertame, and 32mg acesulfame potassium.
Coke also told me that their regular Diet Coke has 121mg of aspertame. So, I don't understand why Pepsi even HAS the acesulfame potassium in its product as the asptertame doesn't seem to be lowered at all!!!
My opinion on the new Diet Vanilla Pepsi is 10 Thumbs Down!

Thanks for the review, Dawn. I'm not a Pepsi fan, but I do like the Diet Vanilla Coke. However, I haven't tried it in cans because the Diet Lemon Coke from a can tasted like the flavorings reacted with the aluminum with a result of a nasty, chemical-taste. How is the Diet Vanilla Coke out of a can?

Diet Vanilla Coke from a can is good, although I prefer the 700 ml bottles (or whatever size they are...) Diet Lemon Coke, in any format, tastes like Mr. Clean has been added, as far as my finicky tastebuds are concerned.

And now I have Diet Vanilla Pepsi envy - I gotta taste it!!!

I vote for Diet Vanilla Coke -- definately thought the Pepsi version tasted too sweet.

My 2 cents for what it's worth..My husband and I just tried the Pepsi last night for the first time...we liked it okay, but we have been drinking Vanilla Coke ever since it came out..we loved it, but we also like the Pepsi...I for one like the Pepsi because it is sweeter..the coke is great but it burns my mouth...go figure...good thing we don't all like the same things, the world would be a boring place, Huh?

I really loved the diet vanilla pepsi... I am a diet pepsi drinker and don't like diet coke as much.. I don't think I ever tried diet vanilla coke but did try the lemon and didn't care for it..

Not only am I a die-hard Cubs fan, I'm also a die-hard Coca-Cola addict. I love the Diet Vanilla! It tastes so yummy. I think the Diet Pepsi Vanilla tastes like it's gone flat. Diet Lemon Coke was good in the beginning but now I think it tastes like cleaner, too. I almost threw up the last time I drank it.

I used to like diet vanilla coke but when they came out with diet pepsi vanilla I switched. I like the taste of diet pepsi( vanilla) better it dose not seem to taste as sweet as the diet vanilla coke. I can't wait for them to bring it out in cans the bottles can be costly.

I haven't tried the vanilla pepsi yet I prefer coke products. The diet vanilla coke is great.. so I figure why fix something that ain't broke. Especially, after hearing the feedback here.

I just heard of the Diet Vanilla Pepsi last night - on a commercial, so I appreciate the review. I do like Diet Vanilla Coke though. Has anyone tried the Diet Red MountainDew. I love it. Don't know the actual name of it but it has color red on the outside of the can.

I would have to say that I like the diet coke vanilla better the then the pepsi version. The pepsi version just came out here in northern Vermont and the Shaw's has a 99 cent deal so I decided to try it. I have to say that I didn't care for it too much.
