Here we go again...another thread closer to #100 :D
I'm a little early to leave for my appointment at the university with my grandaughter but don't have enought time to start something new......so here I am for a quickie little post.
You should have see the weather here yesterday. A northern wind passed over like a freight train. Branches everywhere! The was major power failures all over the island, fortunately not too much in Victoria. The storm was so fast I watched it come like a big black curtain enveloping everythig in it's path. It only took 10 minutes or so to pass over and then sun was out again. I suppose Spring is coming "in like a lion" this year so we should expect it "to go out like a lamb". Sounds good to me!
Patti what a treat to see so many bluebirds all at once. We don't have bluebirds here at all. We have what is incorrectly called "bluejays" which are actually Steller's Jays. They are very attractive and similar in appearance to a cardinal except they are irridescent blue instead of red. Everytime I think of a cardinal I get excited again at seeing a couple of them while we were back east last year. They are my all time favorite bar none.
It's time to go, so I'm off to start my day. See you all "lighter"?
Hi Girls
Had a real good day today. Our computer class got to go to Vatterott College again and have lessons on how to make a home page. It was an hour shorter today 10am to 2 pm.
They had sub-sandwich on whole-wheat bun cheese and ham, relishes for the sandwich, potato salad, chips and drinks. I don't know how many points the sandwich was I found a place that said sub-sandwich bun were 5 points. Don't know if that included the meat on it or not. Had 5 or 6 chips to go with it. I am calling it 7 points??? What do you guys think?
They had Krispy Cream donuts and orange juice when we got there. I took 2 bites of the donut to see what it taste like. So many people rave over them. Myself I didn’t care for it.
Maple you are so versatile you remind me of my friend Mary Beth she is so talent about every thing. I was just thinking of interior decorating you cover a lot.
That hospice service is really wonderful I think. A lot of family and friends had to use them. Can’t say enough great things about them. I don’t think I could do that kind of work though. If it is my love one I can put myself through that pain and suffering for them, and stay strong. I wouldn’t want to put myself through it other wise.
The name of that tape is Leslie in Home Walking 2 Miles. Her name is Leslie Sansone. I got her 3-mile tape too. This one you work with weight doing it. It is over at my niece’s right now and I don’t remember the name of it. She has got I think 10 tapes out. I think she has been doing this for 15 years if I recall it right. I really like it better then walking on my treadmill. I think the 2-mile walk takes 30 minutes.
We have red birds hear all the time. My favorite birds in our yard are doves. I just love them. We don’t have such a big variety as you girls have.
Been doing well on staying in my points in fact yesterday I was short a couple of my minimum amount. I can carry them over so if I want to use them today can't I?
Have a good weekend.

Good Afternoon and Happy Spring!
http://www.harrythecat.com/graphics/b/dance5.gif Party hearty my friends! Not only is the weather nice today, but I am happy to report that as of countdown Day 41...drumroll please....I've lost 2 lbs! YEEEEEEEAYYYYY! Only 8 more to go. I've got the world by a string and I'm sitting on a rainbow. Hmmm, sounds like good words for a song. lol
Faye, I think the sub-sandwich bun that was listed as 5 pts was likely without any of the sandwich meat. I agree that 7-8 pts for all of it (if the meat was turkey or something comparably lean) would be just about right. You might want to add on 1 more pt for the chips though. As for carrying over the points, yes, at one time I think we did that (a few years ago?) I forget what the allowable limit is for point banking but you know what? I'd say that if you are not banking the points for some special upcoming high point meal, I'd just as soon forget about them and move on to your next day as usual.
As for the Crispy Creme donuts, I agree with you there too. I honestly don't see what makes them so much better than the average Dunkin Donut. To me they taste all the same. lol Delicious but comparable.
You want doves? We have a little flock of them in our backyard. At our old house we used to see 1 or 2 sitting together on a telephone wire. Here at this house we often have 10-15 at any one time and they roost up in the trees. Funny thing though....the ones at this house don't coo. Isn't that weird? Ahhh yes (ROTFL) they must be the elusive coo-less doves!
OK, I'm off for more errands. Maple will you be around tonight on IM?

I'm back from an impromptu girl party with my friend who lives up island (3 1/2 hours drive)in Comox. She called and said she was on her way home from visiting her ailing dad and asked if I wanted to come and join the girl party and stay overnight. Within an hour we were on our way! What fun.......I've not been so spontaneous in a long time and have decided I really must start seizing the moment more often. We laughed so much I'm exhausted now and am planning to go to bed early tonight. Of course I'm now back to square one again with my weight loss. I just get it rolling again and something comes up and I fall flat on my face again. At least one of us are doing better. Congratulations Patti, you did really well this week. I guess Lent is really helping you a lot. graemlins/thumbup.gif
I don't really have any news to share but wanted to let you know I'm still here but sadly not doing as well as I'd like OP. "Tomorrow is another day" is getting to old; I've said it too many times lately, so I'm going to have to come up with something new and motivating. Guess I'll just go and sleep on it.............

Hi All graemlins/wave.gif
A girl's night out is always fun. Sometimes more fun than with the men along! lol A bottle of wine, a little chit-chatting, and a lot of laughing.
Well Maple, you've slept on it. What's the verdict? Did you come up with a new slogan? Personally, I don't mind if we continue to use the "tomorrow's another day" ad infinitum as long as we start it fresh as another day with good intentions. But, I think I've come up with one better that truly states where we're at. How about "@#%!&* I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!" That works doesn't it? New approach. Get mad. Get mad with persistance and perseverence. Give a shout, stomp your feet, throw a fit...but don't give in to that cookie (or whatever). If necessary, punch out your ice-cream (lol I don't want you to get hurt). Now embrace your SF jello with a giant hug (ooh, that would feel weird)and plant a kiss your favorite OP food.
There now....doesn't that feel better? http://www.millan.net/anims/giffar/lolipop.gif

Hang in there Faye, that weird scale stuff happens. I think the devil gets in there and messes with the weighing mechanism just to make you give up. DON'T! I bet you anything if you keep on doing what you are doing you will see a nice drop next week.
"@#%!&* I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!" sounds good to me! I'm under control again and have been gardening all day so that ought to count for something. What a day it was here! Sunny and warm, birds singing and me up to my elbows in dirt. Couldn't ask for a better day! My DH calls me Mud Pie at this time of year for good reason. LOL
It's my daughter's 39th birthday tomorrow and Matthew's 6th the next day. What can I say? I'll really try hard and "@#%!&* I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!" LOL

Howdy doo to all of you,
Faye, I think Maple said it perfectly...sometimes weird scale stuff happens. The scale may be reflecting your activities from the previous week and it's only just showing up now. Try to think of it this way: If you HADN'T been good on WW all this week, you might have seen a really significant gain on the scale. The good thing is that you've probably jump-started your body back into high gear this week and I'll bet anything that the needle goes down on your next WI. In fact, I was re-reading some of my old WW pamphlets and WW themselves mention that sometimes it takes two weeks to see a loss. In any case, please join Maple and I in our new mantra:
@#%!&* I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!! http://usa.venus.co.uk/weed/agifs/images83/monkey.gif
Hey Muddy Waters...(oh wait, that was Mud Pie. lol) Have a good day today!

Hello Girls I am still hanging in there and yes @#%!&* I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!
Weigh this morning again and I am back down to 165. That really don't make me real happy though cause that means no weight loss. Course I guess it is better then that gain that show yesterday.
I think though I got to just realize I am not going to loose this weight like I use to. I will be 71 next month and been in menopause for 21 years. I screw up my metabolism big time from being a yo-yo dieter all my life. So I will just follow the program and not let it stress me out that I am not loosing like others. I am not others I am me and everyone body works different.
I will give it my best shot and accept that and be happy with myself.
Have you girls seen Mt. Olives brand pickles in your store? If you have check and see if they have the sugar free ones. They have bread and butter spears that are simply great. No calories in them either. They have the sweet pickles too that I use in dishes. Wal-Mart carries them here in their store here.
Ok have a great day.

Faye, even though it gets frustrating some times, you are doing great. You just keep going like the little Eveready bunnie. One way to look at it is you are at least holding your own and not gaining more weight. Sometimes we just have to be satisfied with that don't we? Keep up the good work and make one small goal like reaching 159. Then you can make it a mission to NEVER weigh in the 160's again. That has been working for me, so even when I gain a bit I look at the overall picture and know I'm staying true to my goal of never going back up into the larger "decade" At the momemnt my goal is to be in the 130's and never see any number in the 140's (higher decade) again. I'm struggling to go down, but at the moment my body is not cooperating with me but at least my last mission was never to go above 145 again is still working. Those pesky few pounds will be gone sooner or later and then I'll be out of the 140 range; never to see it again. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

I got another shock to my system this morning lol. Go to this url and see how you guys did.

No wonder I am not loosing according to this it would take me 1010 minutes walking my 2 mile tape a dat which takes 30 minutes. So doing this 30 minutes a day it would take over 5 weeks to loose 1 pound. graemlins/sobbing.gif

Good Morning,
Faye, you've become the icon master! Well done. And I love the "Think Spring" picture that your friend made for you. Is it a card or something larger that you can frame?
I looked at the healthstatus website you mentioned...lol How depressing is that!! From the way the information is presented, I don't even think an over-active 5 yr old running around could lose a pound! I guess that's why they say that exercise alone isn't enough to get weight off. We would literally have to run ourselves into the ground. It has to be a combination of decreased calorie intake and increased calorie burning.
Speaking of burning calories...I've been doing a pretty decent job on the treadmill lately. (ROTFL Although I'm probably the only person I know who lays down for 20 minutes prior to exercisingcause I'm tired after work). But, I've been knocking off between 300-350 calories everytime I get on and then sleeping like a baby afterwards. http://www.millan.net/anims/giffar/boysleep.gif Let's hope Saturday's WI reflects all this hard work. There is one concern however...I told you I made a pact to take off 10 lbs by May 1st...I'm praying that I won't need to step up the exercise any more if those last 1 or 2 pounds won't come off. I must have been out of my mind to agree to this, but, I'm trying soooo hard and staying OP 100%.
Maple I'm aiming to ease into my new decade on Saturday. It's scary how intimidating our own minds can be. We'll DO IT!!
Last thing, Faye...I'm not sure if we have the brand of pickles you mentioned, but I never thought of pickles as being a high calorie food. Are you buying the sugar-free ones because of Rex(he's diabetic, right?)?
Ok, back to work...Catch you gals later. Maple, Maple, I'm having IM withdrawal. Did I miss you again last night?

Good evening don't know if this image will work or not don't have the URL just the location. Oh well will try any way.
Patti those pickles are bread and butter and usually they are high in calories. Sweet pickles too. Yes they are perfect for Rex since he is a diabetic. They are 0 calories why I like them. I think they are really good. I love a pickle when I have a sandwich.
Your really doing good Patty hang in there you will make your goal.
Naturally I procrastinated on my exercise this week. Kept putting it off. I am so bad on doing that.
We have our first WW luncheon tomorrow I am having it. I am fixing this recipe I found on the boards. Have you made this? It is Crock-pot Sour Cream Salsa Chicken 4 points serve over rice haven’t check the points on that. Having a salad and Orange Dream cheese cake 2 points. So should run not over 12 points I hope.
What is this fast track program that WW has Patti? Some gal had it posted she wasn’t loosing and she tried that and it kick start her to loose. This might be something new since I been to WW.
Maple where you at haven’t seen any post from you recently? Miss you girl.
Just something cute that spring signature. She is going to make me a diamond signature too.
Well guess I better head to bed. Hope you have a big loss at your meeting Patti?
Faye
Hi girls these recipes for our WW lunchon and they are really keepers. We all love them.
ORANGE DREAM CHEESECAKE
Serves 8
Points 2
3 Tbs crushed graham cracker crumbs(2 squares)
2/3 cup boiling water
1 pkg sugar free orange low calorie gelatin
1 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 8 oz package fat free cream cheese
2 cups cool whip free whipped topping
Sprinkle crumbs onto the bottom of 8 or 9 inch springform pan or 9 inch pie plate sprayed with cooking spray.
Stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Cool 5 minutes. Pour into blender container. Add cheeses; cover. Blend on medium speed untill well blended, occasionally scraping down sides of blender container; pour into large bowl.
Add whipped topping; stir gently until well blended. Pour into prepared pan; smooth top with spatula. Refrigerate 4 hours or until set.
Garnish with orange zest or slices if desired.
100 calories, 2 g fat, 0 fiber, calcium 10%, 9 g protein, 300 mg sodium.
-----------------------------------------
Crockpot Sour Cream Salsa Chicken
Serves 4 1 serving=4 Points
4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
1 pkg reduced sodium taco seasoning mix
1 cup salsa
2 TBL cornstarch
1/4 cup light sour cream
Spray crockpot with cooking spray. Add chicken breasts. Sprinkle with seasoning. Top with salsa. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. When ready remove chicken. Mix cornstarch with a small amount of water. Stir into salsa sauce. Stir in sour cream.
Note: I made this today and everyone LOVED it. I served it with bulgar wheat instead of rice and everyone liked that too (bulgar wheat has half the points of white rice and a lot more fiber). Also, I didn't have any taco seasoning so I found a recipe on the internet and used that instead. In case you are out of taco seasoning, here's that recipe:
Taco Bell Taco Seasoning
2 TBL flour
2 tsp chili powder
1 1/2 tsp dried minced onion
1 1/4 tsp salt (I only used 3/4 tsp as the above recipe calls for 'low sodium')
1 tsp paprika
3/4 tsp beef bullion
1/4 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 dash onion powder
----------------------------------------
I got these recipes on this board. I shredded my chicken and put in the sauce then served it over Wow chips and serve refried beans f/f.
I am going to put some left over meat into pita bread and have sanwhich with lettuce tomato and some cheese.
really good kid you not.

Hello!
Faye, thanks for posting the recipes. THey look pretty good. I'll probably try making at least one of them this weekend. I took Monday off from work (I've accrued too many vacation days. Imagine? I need to take off more!) so it'll be nice to spend some of the time cooking and trying new recipes.
I've just finished week #2 of my "do it or die trying" weight-loss effort. I am pleased to announce: -2.5 lbs!!! :D :D :D Yeah! Just 5 1/2 more pounds to go in the next five weeks. At least this now looks attainable to me. LOL I'll told you I've been treadmilling like crazy. At this rate, I could have walked to New Orleans. Who'll need a plane?!
Any special plans for the weekend anyone? Either way, have a good OP day! graemlins/wave.gif

Drat! I lost my post!
graemlins/thumbup.gif Great going Patti, sounds like you will be on your way to New Orleans in 5 weeks. :D How long are you going to be there for?
Anyway, I don't want to redo the post I lost so I'll just say I'm hanging in there and plodding slowly along in the right direction. http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:7qXMaGUYrJsJ:spaceplace.jpl.nasa.gov/tortoise.gif
Good evening
Well I weigh today and gain a pound. I just don't understand I stay with in the points and don't loose instead gain. I didn't exercise any though this week. That shouldn't made me gain though.
Patti your doing marvelous. How many points do you have a day? I think your walking is really paying off for you. Keep up the good work. You will probably make your goal way before your five weeks.
Maple glad your back girl friend miss you.
This Patti is on fire.

I just can't believe what happen to me this morning.
I got on the scale and I'll be darn if I didn't gain another pound. I just can't figure this out. On SS I didn't gain I just stay the same but boy oh boy not on this I am gaining every week.
I am going to try that "fast track" program of WW just found out what that is.
You just eat 20 points per day and no more. Said to just stay on it for 2 weeks.
Not this week but maybe next week I will try that.
Have you ever did that one girls? Do you get real hungary eating just 20 points????
Let me know if you have and did it work good? Probably did for you cause you are loosing so good just doing the regular ww.
Not going to let this get me down. It sure is making me mad as the dickens though.

Faye did you weigh yourself twice in the morning? If you did, remember as the day goes on, your weight begins to go up too. Mine goes up 3#'s from first thing in the morning to bedtime. So if I ever get on the scale in the evening I just deduct 3#'s and that's the weight I'll be in the morning. Yes I did do a fast track once or twice using only 20 points maximum. I didn't really have trouble with hunger because I was extremely careful on what I "spent" my points on. Make sure you always eat a small portion of protein with each meal and try to do away with as many refined carbs (bread, pasta, white rice, potatoes, sugar etc.) that you can during this time and I guarantee you will begin loosing again. That's what I'm doing right now myself to kick start my weight loss again. I just got stuck in a yo-yo pattern and I had to take drastic measures to get it moving again.
I didn't do hardly anything I had hoped to do today in the garden. I kept getting side tracked with one thing and another but all in all it was a good day. I got my sweet basil plants repotted for kitchen use until it's warm enough to plant basil outdoors. I spent a lot of time fooling around on my computer downloading mp3 and wav music files for use in my screen saver shows. It's great to have soothing music playing in the background when my slide show is playing.
