This is a recipe I have been making for years. I don't know where it came from but it is truly magnificant.
4-5 pound lean post roast
2 large onions, quartered
2 cups water
3 packets low sodium beef bouillon
1. spray crock pot lightly with pam
2. put quartered onions in bottom of pot
3. put roast on top of onions
4. sprinkle bouillon packets over roast
5. pour water over everything
6. cover and cook on low (high does not
work)) 10-12 hours
Don't be fooled by how simple this seems. I remember being reluctant to try it at first, then, wow -it was the best I ever tasted.
Now for the points - get out your scales -
2 ounces - 3-points.
Enjoy - Dawna

Hi Dawna,
Just curious, what is a lean post roast? Did you mean a pot roast?
Thanks for the simple recipes. They are my very favorite.

Diane - I am so sorry and embarassed. Yes,
I mean pot roast. I try to proof read everything before I enter it. Sorry -
By the way, I have made the pot roast for my family today, and I am going to have some myself. It smells great. I tried out a new microwave potatoe recipe to go with it. If it comes out good, I will post it later.

Knew what you meant Dawna... too darn much fiber in those post roasts! We can only use 4 gms!

Thanks Bill
Well the pot roast was great as I expected. I have been making it for a long time, and it has never failed me.
The potatoes I spoke of were another story. This has not been a good week for recipes/cooking. I hope next week is better.
Bill - have you ever gone to a site called "astray.com"? It's quite a place. Lots of low fat recipes to look at.

Thanks so much, Dawna.
I thought that's what you meant, but then again, it could have been some exotic cut I had never heard of before. :D
It sounds wonderful!

Thank you, I'm on my way downstairs. I have one of those pot roasts in the freezer and I'll thaw out for tomorrow's slow cooker. I needed an idea.

...and it was magnificant. Its 6:00 and the meat just falls apart, so good.
I had an egg white, lite Velveeta and mushroom omelette for breakfast and threw the xtra mushrooms into the crockpot with the roast. its been a long time since I had any meat so this was great. Five ounces for 7.5 points

Hi Cheryl - I'm so glad you liked the recipe for pot roast. When I make it I rarely eat it. However, this past Sunday, I too had 7.5 points worth. I also had not had real meat for a long time. I've never been much of a meat eater, but when I do have real meat its usually my pot roast I have.

We tried this recipe yesterday, and it was a BIG HIT!! It's so tender and tasty. My DH had 3 servings. This recipe is a definite keeper. Thanks for sharing!

I have been making this recipe for a few years with onion soup mix instead of the beef boullion, I will try the beef next time. It also turns out mouthwatering with the onion soup.

I just purchased a Slow Cooker and my family was really unsure about eating anything that comes out of such a device. My first meal was this pot roast and boy was it a big hit!
Thanks so much for the simple and delicious recipe.

This recipe sounds great - I am curious why you can't cook it 4 hours on low. Any specific reason? Please let me know - I want to make it soon.
Thanks!

Hi Choco Girl,
The meat comes out too tough if you cook it on high. Only comes out right on low.

Thanks Dawna - that makes sense. 8 hours on low it is!!

I tried the recipe and it was great! Like some others, it's been awhile since having a real piece of red meat, and I think I was craving it. It came out so nice and tender, it was worth splurging on the points. Thanks!

Thanks LegalEagle for the "Magnificant Pot Roast" recipe. I have been craving a pot roast for a few weeks now and finally decided to make one. I was very pleased to find this recipe within minutes of looking for one. I will put it together in the morning before work and will have the pleasure of returning home to a wonderful smelling home and dinner almost completely ready. Must say that I love my crock pot - especially since being on program. Planning is definitely key to my success!
Thanks again!

I did this with a California roast and a packet of Lipton Onion Mushroom soup mix. AWESOME. DH and the kids practically INHALED it. :D
