I was just on the forum for New Products and we were chatting about the new crock pots that have timers and how nice they are. Something I did just before they came out was I bought a common household timer, the kind you use for your lights etc. when you go away on vacation. I didn't like the way so many of my dishes seemed to be cooked to death by the time I got home from work.

I set it to begin at about 10:00 a.m. long after I went to work. It worked GREAT!!
So if you got one of the new timer crock pots, don't get rid of the old one. Put it to use. Why not have 2 crock pot meals going at once? Maybe some nice OP dessert would be nice.

My ultimate dream: Have a 2 crock pot meal ready when I walk in from work, plus a nice loaf of bread from my bread machine which also has a timer.

Challenge: Whose with me? Let's put our heads togther and come up with the ultimate meal!! What do you say?

I DO use a regular timer for my crockpot..works out just fine, too!!! I just don't want the food sitting out too long without actually cooking it. I usually set it to start about an hour after I leave and then set it for however many hours it calls for. Works really well!
