Karin, your Dreamicle dessert is a dream come true! I made it earlier today & we'll all have for dessert this evening. To think that I can indulge in 1 entire cup & use only 1 pt. I may just skip dinner & max my remaining daily pts on Dreamsicle heaven. http://www.healthdiscovery.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'm glad everyone is enjoying the dessert I posted. l serving is l cup. I have 2 cups for myself which is 2pts and that is filling. I could just eat the dessert and skip dinner it is so light and low in points!! You can actually eat dinner and dessert. I skipped my light icecream which I love in favor of this and this is far less in points. Glad everyone enjoyed!

Karin!
Thanks for the fabulicious dessert recipe!
My son recently had a biking accident and he was bemoaning his lack of exercise (temporary) and was worried that he would gain weight BUT this dessert will keep us both on the straight and narrow and OP...
Many many thanks for that one point wonder.

Sandra1947, how many peaches did you use to compensate for the manderine oranges and keep it at about the same point range?

Dreamsicle Pudding
Dottie I am sending a recipe that I developed. It reminds me of the "Dreamsicles" we used to get as kids. Remember? Thank you Pat!
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 box instant vanilla pudding, sugar-free (2 pts)
1 can mandarin oranges, drained (1 pt)
1 container fat-free Cool Whip, 8 oz (6 pts)
l box sugar free Orange Jello (1 pt)
Dissolve jello in 1 cup boiling water. Add 3 ice cubes to a cup and fill with cold water. Stir until dissolved and set aside for 5 minutes to cool. Drain oranges and set aside. With elextric mixer stir in instant pudding (dry) to jello, beating until pudding is well mixed. Let stand for 15 minutes. Then fold in the thawed cool whip and then the oranges.
SERVING SIZE: 1 cup
POINTS: 2.5

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I just made this dessert last night and figured the points from the ingredients....came up with 2.5 pts for each of 4 servings...however, found that if I individually package in gladware containers (snack size), can get 5 servings and at 2 pts each. Which is still plenty to eat and at a good point bargain to boot!

I've made this recipe a few times already. It's a hit with my family. For Easter, I used strawberry jello and fresh strawberries instead of oranges. Since my sister and I are both OP I figured I'd make a dessert we could enjoy too. Well, guess what, my dessert went while the others (cheesecake and chocolate pie) sat. Everyone commented on how tasty it was. Even at 2.5 pts per cup, it's a good point value.
Mmmmmmm I'm gonna have to try this!! I've decided to bring a dessert to our weekly dinner at MILs cause they always have stuff that's too high in points! This way I can have some without feeling guilty smile.gif I'll let you know how it turns out!!! And if it gets FILs stamp of approval

Hi KarinCurt,
Thank you for this recipe. My mom and I both love it. Unfortunately, mine is higher in points: the supermarket that I bought the ingredients at was a small one, so I had to use regular Cool Whip and regular Jello Pudding. I calculated my points though and a cup is 3.13.
Next time, I'm going to shop at a larger store and I think I'll try it mclaugja's way and use fresh strawberries and strawberry jello. tongue.gif
Bye for now,
Brenda.

This recipe is wonderful with a small can of crushed pineapple drained, instead of the oranges. The pineapple doesn't fall to the bottom as the heavier oranges do.

I gave this recipe to a friend at work this past Friday. I also made it for my family that day. When I got to work on Monday she asked me to copy it down again because her sisters want the recipe. She said they loved it. So did I and my daughter. I am a sweets person so this hit the spot. Thanks so much!

I've been making this for years. Its also good if you use fruit cocktail in the pear juice and drain it.Everytime I make it I switch flavor of the jello.
