This is taken out of the WW cook book,
"Healthy Lifestyles" and makes two servings.

Oven"Fried"Onion Rings
2 cups sliced onions(separated into rings)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
3/4 ounce(5 tablespoons)cornflake crumbs

1)Preheat oven to 450*F. In medium mixing bowl combine the onions and oil; stir to thoroughly coat.Add cornflake crumbs and toss to coat.
2)Spray nonstick baking sheet with spray Pam
or one of your choice., spread onion mixture
on the sheet.Bake ,turning frequently, until onion rings are crisp and browned, about 20 minutes.
Each serving provides:
136 calories,5 grams of fat, and 3 grams fiber, I put that just at the 2 point mark.

Hey! These look good & easy also. My DH loves onion rings.

How do they taste? Anything like the ones you buy outside?

I'm going groc. shopping tonight, and I would like to try these for him.

Thanks,
Dawna

Now you have to realize these are baked not fried so they will have a different taste, but I do like them, also try spritzing them with Pam Spray before baking, they crisp up alittle smile.gif Mona<><

I make a similar version of this with a bit of flour and italian bread crumbs instead of the corn flakes. Spray with PAM & bake til crispy. EVERYBODY at my house loves them. tongue.gif

Our leader gave us an onion ring recipe and says that they taste just like Sonic Drive In.

Here it is:

2 Tbsp flour
1/3 c breadcrumbs
1/4 c egg substitute
2 Large onions, peeled, sliced 1/4" thick

400° oven, spray baking sheet with PAM, coat each ring with flour, dip into egg and coat with breadcrumbs. Arrange on cookie sheet and spritz with Pam. Bake on top rack till brown (5 min) turn and back 2-5 min longer. Makes 4 servings = 1 pt each
