Homemade Kalua with Splenda

Sorry, no recipe. Well I have the Kalua recipe except it calls for 2 1/2 C sugar and I was wondering if anyone ever tried making it with the fake sugar. I simmer mine for 6-8 hours, I think the Splenda would get bitter
