View Full Version : GETTING BACK TO GOAL - Week of 3/29

Hi Everyone!
I decided to start this weeks thread since I am up and going early and solo this morning.
The past week we TOM so was a bit more difficult. I did get lots of exercise this weekend... On Friday, I ended up having to move offices. I knew it was coming, but was surprised when I arrived at work that that was the day. I have been struggling the past couple of months to walk over 1500 steps a day at work (I wear a pedometer). I walked over 4000 on Friday. Regretfully, I was wearing boots with heels instead of sneakers. graemlins/ugh.gif On Saturday, I mowed about 1/2 acre with a manual push mower and racked a million leaves. We don't even rack the whole yard (Thank goodness or we would never get done!!!)
This week is a new week with a new purpose. My fiance is once again working evenings so I am going to try to emphasize exercise and maybe try some new recipes that he isn't as keen on. We do a lot of pizza and quesadillas otherwise. Not too bad for me since I use lower point tortillas for both pizza shells and quesidillas. Low point cheese and TONS of veggies! If you use the fat-free cheese and spray it with a little Pam, it melts fairly well.
Well, the boxes and chaos I left at work on Friday is beaconing.
Have a good week this week!!! graemlins/wave.gif

The sun is out!!!!! That really sets the tempo for me. I actually exercised twice yesterday.  The workout routine is becoming easier and I am getting more limber. I don't seem to be losing any inches though. I'm beginning to think the WW High Intensity workout is really more cardio. I'm not complaining...I can finally reach my toes. But I am glad that I signed up for the Y. I think I just might be in shape to do the machines.
Sew: We're in the same boat. DF is on 14 hour swing shifts at the hospital. I haven't really seen him for days and when I do he's falling asleep.
Have a great day!

Good morning and I'm out the door graemlins/wave.gif
Sew, I never thought of sprayiing ff cheese w/Pam. Thank you. We have 10 acres and no we don't rake it all either graemlins/crazy.gif . Oh boy, I bought myself a new push mower to get around my flower beds. Sears had a nice sale on Sat.
I also walked alot this weekend.
Grainne, glad your feeling more limber. When I got the fast track from WW, I checked out the CD. I think its more cardio too. And thats a good thing. Any movement is a good thing.
Take Care and have a great OP day

Good morning everyone....
Yes, I'm sitting at DH's desktop. I guess I could be in DD's room eyeballing her clutter, or in DH's room smelling sweaty socks! Maybe it's time to get SARAH a computer! tongue.gif
DH is going to take the laptop to the repair place today while I'm at school. The guy that runs the place seems very "dry" and that intimidates me....so HE can handle it. Maybe if the guy won't fix it, he can at least tell DH how to fix it. If this were a problem with one of the desktops it's no biggie...because DH knows how to replace everything inside that tower. But getting inside of a laptop is a whole nuther ball 'o wax. :( Hopefully this guy with cooperate with DH after shelling out $275 for a simple repair job to begin with. (soldering something in place) Don't you wonder about people that are so "dry"....how can you live without a little humor in your life? ;)
Grainne - You're making me want to hit that gym, I'm jealous! I think you're really going to like it. I had to go to the city's rec center to sign Sarah up for t-ball. We have 2 rec centers and I have never been to this particular one. Well, I walked in to see a FULL WORKOUT FACILITY! Guess how much for the entire family per year? $200!!! I'm paying over $700 just for me! This is why I only signed a 1 year contract....I'll be looking elsewhere next year I'm sure.
Sewcrazy - Great idea with the cooking spray and FF cheese. I just use less cheese because I don't like a lot to begin with...give me the sauce!
Cheryl39 - 10 acres.....I betcha you love going into the city after enjoying the "space" 10 acres gives you. ;)
Nancy - Way to go with the bulgur casserole! My kids still won't touch it..and DH will only eat it if I cook it with salsa.
Kyoot - So you're a little ahead of me...by a few grams on that spaghetti hey? I'm having company over on Saturday and I'm making my family's spaghetti sauce...the all day kind. I'll have to do some arm curls and letcha know how I do.
Carol - Tivo for golf......you mean there are people that would actually RECORD golf to watch it later??? LOL
GTF - I hope all is well after the surgery and that you're feeling better.
Wendyj - Good for you for getting to the gym! We're all going to be so buff come summertime! graemlins/thumbup.gif
BCJen - I stick to the Winning Points too...whatever works for YOU is all that matters.
Lizarose - Wyoming...*sigh* I would love to see Wyoming! Glad you could join us....we'll get those 8 pounds knocked off in time for summer. graemlins/bcbkick.gif
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone,
It is a GLORIOUS day here in Buffalo, sunny and will be 65+ degrees today!! I brought my sneakers with me so I can get in a good walk on lunch.
Speaking of walking, I am really proud of myself. Yesterday I participated in a 5K walk and did it in 48 minutes. That might not be so fast for you, but the first time I did it 3 years ago (weighing 242 lbs) it took 1 hr and 15 min  !! Last year I did it in 44 minutes, but I also didn't have a cold/sinus issues. The weather was also beautiful yesterday, which made it a PERFECT day to walk.
Yesterday also finally inspired me to start exercising, not just because I SHOULD, but because I WANT TO. I felt SOOOO good after walking, that I want to keep that feeling up! So, I walk on lunch today, I will be checking out the "free" gym membership this week and will start checking out golfing lessons with my friend.
I have a week until I have to WI, and I fear it's not going to be good, but I am taking it one day at a time. Nice weather motivates me to eat better and exercise, and while the rest of the week isn't going to be this nice, it will be nearly 50 and NO SNOW!! So that's all I can hope for!
SewCrazy ~ I never use FF cheese because it doesn't melt, but I might try it using your trick because I LOVE, and I mean LOVE cheese!!
Grainne ~ Good for you exercising twice yesterday!!! Isn't it amazing what a little sun can do for one's mood??
cheryl ~ Wow, 10 acres!!! We have a half-acre lot and I can't imagine even raking all of that!!! But imagine the APs!!
raidermom ~ You are right, how can you live without humor? I swear that's one of the main reasons I married my DH...he is one of the funniest people I know and makes me laugh ALL the time (think Chandler on Friends, with a little more edge...)
graemlins/wave.gif to everyone else. Have a great OP day buddies!!

Good morning, GBTG Buddies:
Thanks raidermom and Kyoot. I am feeling better today and back at work. Now, on to weight loss and consequently keeping myself healthy post surgery smile.gif .
SewCrazy and Grainne, great for you all in those exercise efforts.
Wow, cheryl39, ten acres of land! That is a lot of maintenance. Do you own a farm?
raidermom, good luck with those computer repairs. Oh, yeah, I can relate to being dry. It's a defense. The guy is probably so goofy and able to let loose that you'd be surprised smile.gif .
Chat later,

Good morning all,
I would like to have that little graemlin waving to all of you, but since I am new to this computer fun stuff, you will all have to know that "it is the thought that counts".
So glad to read all of your posts.
Cheryl- Sorry to hear of your computer woes. They are so wonderful when they work, but NSW when they don't. Keep positive.
SewCrazy- I sure can relate to that TOM and what it can do to any good program or efforts we may have. I am going to my doc today to see what needs to be done as 2-3 weeks of ups and downs, physically and mentally, each month, are getting a little tough to take.
Grainne- Keep on keeping on. The workouts will get easier and you will feel GREAT!!!
Cheryl39- In my last weeks WW meeting a lady stated that she was going to buy a push mower for this season and may hire out so that she can get a lot of AP's. It would probably be a good workout.
Jenn- Thumbs up to you. Keep on walking it is the very best thing you can do and it works!!!!
GTF- Have a great OP day!!
Kyoot- Thinking of you too.
Tonight is the big WI- No pun intended. I really hope that the weight is moving down. I have all of these numbers on the scale that seem to be road blocks for me. I am not sure if it is mental or what?? However, these 160's seem to take forever to get through. The 150's will be about the same, but once the 140's roll around I usually cruise. I only have 10 weeks left until our Wedding Anniversary and I really want to be at goal. It always seems that I get to the weekend and Sunday night, before my Monday WI, I just cannot get enough to eat and I go for the PB, and any snacks that the kids have. UGH!!!
My DH has been doing the A diet (I know, I know,) for almost a year. He lost his weight quick and is maintaining. Everytime I say that I am struggling or having difficulty with something he says "you can always do my program".
He does plan to jump over to WW once I reach my goal and boy am I glad about that as it is difficult to make different meals or to even come up with enough ideas for his program.
Well I had better go for now,
Have a great OP day,
Wendyj

GOOD Morning, GBTG-Friends!
Well, we've got the same beautiful weather that the rest of you are experiencing...for TODAY, at least! Around 70 degrees is expected, I believe!
I've been on the phone with people who won't-talk-to-me about tax information that has DH's name only... tongue.gif It really ruined my morning routine. DH just sent me the info only HE was able to acquire, so we're almost through! :D
I'm eating the FIRST asparagus of this season from our garden, as I type! Yum-my~
We have 2 acres, one a fenced orchard/garden acre.
DH has a tractor, a riding mower, and a walk-behind. The "best" thing we did was to get a "mulching" mower...it mulches the grass and leaves into a compost, which acts as a fertilzer for the ground.
Well, I'm not going to say I'm BEHIND today...I'm on a TWO-HOUR-DELAY...! ;) :D
MY DH is the funniest, too. And I feel SOOOO lucky because of that. Watched "Sleepless In Seattle" last night; Meg's first boyfriend made an occasional joke  , but something was definitely missing...! The "Magic". ;)
I WILL REQUIRE MORE of myself today. I WILL remain OP. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif We're gonna' have fun days. We're gonna' have hard days. We're gonna' be tired. We're gonna' have things that need to be done. But EACH DAY we have a CHOICE: we can do this day OP, or, not OP. Make the right choices, Buddies!

Hi all,
I'm not doing good this week i've totally messed up my points nad used enough points for a month i'm sure. I don't know what happened, Excerise I can do and still love but the eating I love too and this week it got me bad! bagels that are 5 and/or 6points made it into me more than once in a day, and oh it was just bad! today I did a little better but still not where I want to be. I think it is TOM who should arrive Friday, (if not I'll have some words with him) and I'm just so BLAH! I blahed my way through the week , not good. Grainne, Cheryl, Cheryl, Carol, nancy, GTF, Lizarose, and all the other's your doing awsome and I know I can do it. I'm jsut not me today!

Kyoot~ I read something from a WW leader. She told someone having a hard time, "Aim for a good day; and if that's too hard, then aim for a good meal."
We've ALL done the "two steps forward, one step back", or "one step forward, TWO steps back" tongue.gif or we wouldn't BE HERE!
At least think about it. Were you "hungry", physically, for the bagels? Or were you filling another need? Emotional? Dr. Phil has a great first chapter in his book, "Healing Feelings". I had already realized before, that if I'm feeling a disconnect from DH I head towards something SWEET. Preferably, chocolate. A better way is to FEEL YOUR FEELINGS. Which can mean graemlins/sobbing.gif , for me. DD, 25, has a great attitude, "It'll make you feel better!" I, on the other hand, have often chosen to stuff it with candy...and then I don't have to re-apply my eye make-up!
I ate sugar-y things this week-end that I DON'T even LIKE?!! And the sugar made me feel horrible. I realized I wasn't being a very good friend to myself...at all. So, I'm treating myself well today. So far, so good! graemlins/thumbup.gif :D ((as she eats her bulgar/chili TVP/carrots/chow-chow, following a late work-out))
P.S. When I had children your age, I was tired a lot. Take GOOD care of yourself! graemlins/kiss.gif

Good afternoon buddies,
I sometimes joke that this is a good place to live if you like complaining about the weather 360 days a year. This is one of the other days... bright sun, clear sky, and warm enough to play golf with no jacket. How do I know? Because I played hooky this afternoon with dh and we played 9 holes. Now I have to work from home to make up the time, but that's OK. I love flexible hours. The forecast is pretty gloomy for the rest of the week.
So instead of a planned rest day, I also have a jump start on my workouts for the week AND my APs. Not bad for a Monday. Oh and I'm down 2.5 from last week which puts me halfway back to where I was 3 weeks ago. I too would like to make goal by my anniversary, but I only have 4-1/2 weeks left.
We thought about working in the yard this weekend but it's still pretty muddy, so we settled for repairing a fence before the deer get the perennials. I have 5 acres, we mow one. We don't rake anything except the worst of the leaves in the fall. I also have a mulching mower.
I'm going to skip the personals for now, I hope I have more time later. Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone, wasn't today nice? I walked on this trail close to work at lunch, justa quickie 20 minutes and walked again when I got home. Its also starting to get lighter earlier so I can (yikes dare I say it) walk bf work. so I feel like a Cancan girl at the moment (wink Kyoot). Carol gave you great advice, but Carol you usually do offer great advice, thank you for the "pearls". I like that about "Aim for a good day; and if that's too hard, then aim for a good meal smile.gif
Hi GTF, glad you're healing up. Won't be long. We don't own a farm, we used to talk about having a "tree farm" then a 3- hole course. I'd say the front 5 are taken care of. Past the pond its all rye grass and some trees and trails. Lots of wild turkeys, deer, fox. It's nice.
Jen, graemlins/thumbup.gif good planning to bring the "sneaks". That is awesome you even went on the 5K. GFY.
Cheryl, I'm sorry about the computer. I'm clueless about laptops. Hey, but out here we got city water, yup tongue.gif :D . I used to joke about feeling like Zsa Zsa Gabor on that show Green Acres (bf your time Kyoot) when I moved out here but I do love it now. I still want a Dooney&Burke barrell bag. It would so go with my black muck boots graemlins/clown.gif
Nancy, we put our sap stuff away too. Next year we'll know to start early. I hope to at least get to a driving range soon. How much is it to play 9 by you? Oh, great job on the great loss. Its motivating to hear that.
graemlins/wave.gif Wendy, I hope Wi is good for you. I wish I knew why we sabotage ourselves  . Tonight, I just had to leave the kitchen and come upstairs here to get away from the snacks. I'm fine now so I can goback to clean up. How many years have you and DH been together?
Ok I have to clean up and pack lunches and read this mornings' paper.

Good Morning!
Well, I hit the flex points yesterday already on day 1 of the week, but I did schedule an appointment with the trainer today!! We have the advantage of free trainers at the gym at work and I just haven't made the commitment to schedule it. Since I can adjust my departure time this week, I DID it! graemlins/crazy.gif
Even with eating the extra points, I did make sure to get my water in. So I am pleased with my baby steps this week.
Another thing I do with cheese is I regularly use the Veggie-slices as an alternative. It is a soy-based cheese (I think). It isn't fat-free, but it doesn't have any saturated fat. It is lactose free and it melts extremely well. I don't use it too often on my pizza as it melts everywhere.
Well, I must prep my bulgur cereal for work and get myself ready for another day out there.
Have a good day, buddies!

OK try again you all thought I was having a "if you have nothing good to say" day when you saw that mini post! nope, I'm back on the horse, I can see him Galloping my way!!! I did great so far this morning, went to bed with a headache (too much sugar?) after going to a book party, usborne books, anyone heard of them? I went to a party once before but was totally broke so bought nothing, this time I had the funds! and bought mr2 a book and mr4.66666 (hehe) a book and then won a free book.
So far this morning has been better, Carol thanks for your words, and advice it does help. I'm doing well Meal one of the day is over and I'm only down 4points. I will be working out today, (some how) and will not be eating those points, I can try to help next week work better I'm sure if I stop my self sabotage now.
Cheryl39 I used to watch Green Achers, on Nick at Night while breastfeeding Mr4. smile.gif He would stock pile from 7pm-11pm so I would watch NAN
Grainne have a great time tonight at the Y, try to keep the idea of fun in the back of your mind. smile.gif
Thanks everyone for listening to me "complain" about my bad week, and giving me some encouragement. smile.gif
HUGS and THANKS!!!

Good Mornin' everyone, graemlins/wave.gif
It is snowing graemlins/sobbing.gif here in WI this morning, but all of us know that it is still March and with that any weather can be expected.
I am so glad to be getting to know all of you. You are all such an inspiration and it really helps to know that we are all together in the "been there, done that boat". We will all succeed---Then watch out!!!
Cheryl39--Thankyou for your tip yesterday about getting out of the kitchen. Last night was a much better night. In answer to your ?? My DH and I have been married for almost six years (June 5), and have been dating for 10. smile.gif My good friend is getting married on that day this year, so I really wanted to be back to goal by then. At this point I will be at least within 5-10 pounds of it unless I have some really good losses. She is the one that after visiting when my third son was born--ordered me the Windsor Pilates--I think she thought I was really FAT!!! graemlins/ugh.gif I chuckle a little bit about it now. graemlins/clown.gif This time my DH is very supportive, I think he just wants his old girl back:). ;)
Kyoot---I can so "totally" relate to eating beyond the Flex Points. Flex points scare me a little as I just hate to use them for fear that I will go off program, and even just knowing they are there does not help. It is especially hard around that TOM. I was so glad that yesterday was the start of a new week. I love those fresh start Monday's.
I weighed in last night and ......I was down 2 pounds. I am doing a happy dance today.
I have to go and get a workout in before my daycare kids come. Today is my first day with two additional children here. I am a little nervous about it, but they are good girls. It will be nice to have a little spending money for all of those Pampered Chef, Candle, and Book parties. It always seems that I am broke at just the wrong times--My DH would say it is at all of the right times.
Have a great day OP day all of my buddies.
I will be thinking of you!
I will check back later,

Good morning ladies!
Gosh, the weather was SO nice yesterday. I'm mad because I had SO much work that I couldn't get a full walk in, but I did have an appointment on the other end of campus so I had a nice brisk, but quick walk (as brisk as one can muster in heels!) We've been cut a break here this morning, it's about 50 (which is about as warm as it will get today) and no rain until later on, so I actually got another quick brisk walk in in heels again, unfortunately) -- not entirely on purpose, they've closed some parking lots due to construction, so I had to park about 10 minutes away from my building and hike in. Gotta go back and do that again to get my car at lunch and get a closer space so I if I work late I'm not walking that distance in the dark. (If I didn't mention it before, I work on a college campus).
Darn the evenings, I am SO good all day and then not-so-good dinner on. I am taking Carol's advice of one MEAL at a time. I've got two meals down and only one more to perfect!
I'm not sure if that "free" gym membership is going to work out, I know someone who inquired about it and there are an awful great amount of strings attached that could potentially make it VERY expensive. So I am going to check out a pay-as-you-go yoga class on Wednesday night.
GTF ~ I am sorry, I missed that you had surgery? Are you OK now? I hope all is well with you!
Wendyj ~ I don't think I've said welcome yet, so WELCOME! This is a GREAT place! Knowing there are other people sharing the same struggles as you is comforting and motivating. And I think they are a great bunch of people too!!
Carol ~ Again, thanks for the inspirational quote! You make me want to move to Oregon the way you describe the weather, sounds great!
Kyoot ~ graemlins/thumbup.gif on getting back on track!! I think coming here is the best thing you can do, I sure know it keeps me accountable.
Nancy ~ So the weather in CNY is the same as the weather in WNY, huh? I hope you are getting the mini-repreve that we are from the doom-and-gloom that has been forecasted for the rest of this week.
cheryl ~ We get wild turkeys in our backyard too. Funny thing is that there were about 8 of them waddling through my yard yesterday when I came home from work!!
SewCrazy ~ Good luck with the trainer today!! And with getting the water in! Thanks for telling us about the veggie chesse, I might try it.
Grainne ~ You're seeing the trainer today too? Wow, what a bunch of "muscle heads" we have here ;) No, kidding aside, have a great session!
graemlins/wave.gif to everyone else!! Have a great OP day everyone!!

Good morning, GBTG Buddies:
jenn, thanks so much for your concern. I'm healing up pretty good, had some uncomfortable GYN stuff done, but feel much better. Thanks again.
cheryl39, your place sounds awesome, very serene and peaceful. Thanks for the well wishes smile.gif .
Kyoot, I know that oftentimes Canada and the US won't have the same products, but there is a bagel called the Western Alternative Bagel which are low carb, low fat and tastes absolutely great. They are 1 point a piece because they have loads of fiber as well. If you can't find them in the local grocery store, you can order them from their website (same name).
With that said, I know that finding a food substitute isn't always the answer, but we need to eat and when we have a taste for something it's better to eat it if we must, and if we must, it's better have a points friendly, satisfying food item. I'm glad you're back on track today smile.gif .
WWCarol, nancyny, sewcrazy, wendyj and raidermon, have a great day you all.

graemlins/wave.gif Hello everyone! graemlins/wave.gif
I went for my March w/i last night. I am now -7.6 lighter than I was a month ago! :D This might not seem like much, but it's a big deal for me! (Especially because it took me the first 10 days of the month to finally hear the click! )
It is so nice to finally be back on track! Last night's w/i was an affirmation that I can do this -- I have done it once before!
Thank you for all of your words of support! They really help!
Have a wonderful day!

What a nice crowd we have! :D
Well, to all you muscle-heads with the dusty sneakers... ;) Let me fill-you-in on a little secret. http://img14.photobucket.com/albums/v41/raidermombcb/shhh.gif Yesterday after doing the elliptical and lower-body weights, I felt an " afterglow "... http://www.dearbornheightsraiders.org/lovie.gif My Callanetics tape warns: "Will increase your sexual desire, whether you want it to or not"! ;)
Fair warning. smile.gif
I'm getting my foods in place this morning (making vegetarian chili and some Jell-O Cook 'N Serve LF Chocolate Pudding). THEN I start on Cleaning Fairy stuff. It took me 50 steps to get from the microwave downstairs (with my tea) to the computer UPstairs! No wonder I'm getting so many steps in! Thanks for the feedback, Jenn and Nancy! I KNEW not to wear them gardening...but "cooking"?! Sounds like they're going to continue being trouble. tongue.gif
I saw a news woman wearing them and I could barely tell she had glasses on. I thought they were  . They're also more expensive than any others I have owned... tongue.gif

Hi Fellow GBTGB, notice I said fellow, that's right I'm back in the game, had a great and totally OP day, and now I'm waiting on my walking partner to come.
GTF, I hope that your uncomfy Gyn work was nothing too serious,
Carol, sorry about the glasses, I think I'm going to look into Contacts after I get over my 22yr denial that I need glasses,
Cheryl you were right about the getting out of the kitchen I took it as far as getting out of the house with the boys today! YAY!! we were out playing, which really means me chasing them, for 2hours in a neighbours paved ;) drive way. I loved it and it reached 11C today,
I was wondering where the local weather station was getting all these "spring fever" clips, and then today I caught it, and althought offered a chair today to sit and watch kids play, I played. I feel good and energized and away from the fridge! Kitchen cupboards and breadbox with the evill bagels!
have a great night ladies

The trainer was great today! We just did cardio, but she was great a pushing me. It sure felt like it was worth more points than it calculated out ;) I have booked my next session for Thursday. They are having a weight management program through the gym at work. When I told her my success with WW, she said I could be a good motivation for those she is working with. I sent her my success photos although haven't updated it in a real long time. I hope it helps someone. I don't know if I have every included it online. It's Sew Crazy for WW Before and In Progress Photos (http://www.geocities.com/sewcookie) . I also drank at least 9 waters!!! :D I am psyched! Now to have GLOP for dinner.
Have a good evening!

Linda, Great photos! Glad your trainer was so good.
I was a little disappointed. My trainer was a young and very inshape young man. smile.gif He explained the treadmill and helped me set it for the right heartrate. I walked the treadmill for 1/2 hour at 3 miles per hour. He came over and asked if I felt winded or if my legs felt tight. I was fine until he said I would do this for 3 times a week for three weeks. I had hoped to start doing some weight training since I already walk 5-6 miles each day teaching.
He said he was going to speak to the fitness director to see if I could skip the first 3 week introduction since (and this made my day!!) " you are in much better shape than a beginner" :D :D
If he wasn't 1/2 my age I would have kissed him. :D

Good Mornin' Everybuddy!
I have been crabby and busy, hence my absence. I dropped off the craptop and paid the $85 for diagnostics.....he gave me a "warning" that this time there was a burning smell coming from the computer, which to me was saying "I will find something DIFFERENT wrong so we can make some money!" So I told him that burning smell was there the last time he fixed it. He said "hopefully" all that is wrong is the adaptor plug needs to be soldered back and reinforced....that's what cost me the $275 last time. It'll be a couple of days before I know what it's going to cost..............
The main reason I hate sitting at this desktop is the keyboard. DH has one of those ergo things..and I spend half of my time correcting errors in my typing! I am so used to the keypad on my laptop which is much more compact..............and a mouse??? Don't use one! But I'll adapt...don't start planning that pity party for me.
My Holter moniter gets put on tomorrow. I have an appointment for an ultrasound (for gallstones) Friday morning, but I just realized last night that I would still be wearing that monitor........not sure if I should be so I'm going to call and see if I need to re-schedule. I had several episodes of those palpatations last night and after a few intense ones I got a little spooked. Now last week I had two complete days without a one......watch........as soon as that monitor goes on I won't feel a thing.
DF had her baby on Saturday, a little girl named Mya. All of us "friends" got together and decided to cook her meals for a week, my night was last night which is why I wasn't here or ANYWHERE for that matter. I decided to make pizzas and a couple of braided coffee breads, which took ALL DAY.
I have finally perfected the perfect deep dish, not that anyone on WW would be able to eat it... , but still a proud moment. So she received a Raidermom original hand-tossed (yes, I know how to toss the dough or "flip" as I say....) AND a deep dish...with grilled chicken as the topping. DH thinks my sauce is a little sweet, so I might play around with that......I don't add any sweetener, but I do add Chardonnay and I'm thinking that's the culprit...maybe I'll switch to a merlot.
Carol - DH had those frames...HATED them. At first he really loved them but they constantly bent on him and the screws even pop out! He marches back to the optometrist office each and everytime...he's had them totally replaced TWICE and fixed several times. He gets one pair a year on our insurance so he dumped those frames ASAP.
Grainne!!! That is awesome! You must have been beaming to hear the trainer say that about you........ You go!
Sewcrazy - Loved your pics, thanks for sharing! How did you like the Great Smoky Mtns? I loved it there...we had cabin that was right on the side of a mountain...looking down from the deck was quite scary, not to mention the ride up TO the cabin!
Kimberly - 7.6, WOO HOO! Great loss for the month....keep up the good work! graemlins/thumbup.gif
Wendyj - You are down 2 pounds! Congrats! And it's always nice to have a little extra cash for a Pampered Chef party...that's my favorite party!
Kyoot - Get those bagels out of the breadbox if they're haunting you. I find the Thomas' Carb Counting bagel are a good alternative...but they're a little "bready".
Cheryl39 - LOL...it's funny, I was raised in a small town waaaaaaaaaay up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and now I'm Miss City Girl. I have mixed emotions on which I prefer and I often go back and forth between looking at property on the outer fringes of the city or sticking to the area I'm in so I can be close the action.....which is why we haven't moved yet.
GTF - I'm glad you are feeling better!
A big hello graemlins/wave.gif to everyone else! It's "busy" Wednesday and I need to get my rump in gear. Have a great day everyone....

Good morning buddies,
It's drizzly here too and we are expecting rain, and (relative) cold. (If it's raining, it can't be all that cold now can it?).
I took my car in for service this morning, and hope to get it back this afternoon, and that it's not too expensive. The tire dealer gave me a quote but they are famous for over-estimating what I need. I take the work to someone I trust more, and sure enough their quote is about 1/3 what the tire dealer said!
Grainne, it sounds like your trainer is perceptive. I would expect more, too. It sounds like they are conservative, but 3 weeks on just a treadmill? I'd be outta there! I hope his management approves his plan!
Linda, I checked out your pics. You look great! I'm in a fitness program at work, I have to work out regularly for 10 weeks out of 12.
Kyoot, welcome back to the wagon. It's great that you play with your boys instead of sitting on the sidelines. Your kids like it better too.
Oh and Carol, maybe that's why dh doesn't complain about my exercise program? ;)
I had a high points day yesterday, but mostly because I finally took a rest day. I got an elastic elbow brace. Exercise doesn't bother me, but putting my purse on the car seat next to me seems to involve an odd twist... weird huh? I've finally gotten a backpack for my laptop that replaces the old heavy briefcase. That should help in the longer term too.
I'm gearing up for the weekend, for Sunday I am making cookies and hot cross buns. The buns are pretty healthy - I use a traditional recipe that isn't very sweet and contains dried currants, then I make them half size (2 pt. each, 3 pt. for 2). The sweetener? Maple syrup of course, from this year's crop. I have done this for my church for so long they think it's a tradition. I love to bake as long as I know who (besides me) is going to be doing the eating!
I hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Wednesday!
Nothing much to report. The weather turned yucky, but it's not snowing so I'm not depressed!
I realized that my 2-yr anniversary of starting WW is coming up (April 23). In honor of that, I'm giving myself a challenge...to be below 170 (even if that means 169.9!!) Totally doable, if I really, truly go back to strict BCB-losing points and if I exercise. Even though Easter is in the mix...Easter is ONE DAY. I LOVE challenges, and making it public to all of you, that keeps me accountable.
Well, this is looking like a busy day, so I gotta fly. graemlins/wave.gif everyone and have a great OP day!!

Today was a bad computer day, GRRRR all Dh's fault. If he would stop hogging all the cable modem connections it wouldn’t boot me off!!! On the bright side, I took both boys out to get groceries, got them new car seat trays and foot rests(combo from Canadian Tire), got milk at the corner store, mopped the kitchen and dinning room, washed down the fridge, and the stove, and took the boys out to the garage to color, fresh air+coloring = sleeping boys! Dh says “ I should shut down the network more often” GRRRRRR!!! I also got all the toys into toy boxes for about an hour, all the books on shelves, for 3hours, and vacuumed the hall. Tomorrow I work on the bathrooms, and my bedroom floor, and we have a playdate for the morning of walking with a neighobur and her son, and a playdate in the afternoon of chasing kids up and down the drive way
YAY!! and then I have walking with my other neighbour in the evening. I will LOSE the 2.2 I gained this WEEK I WILL!!! I feel accomplished for a change instead of “just here”. Nancy it is fun being part of the play instead of watching. Cheryl39 it was a busy day. CherylR your pizza sounds great. I have a recipe for whole wheat and I knock down the olive oil from 6points to 3 and it still turns out great.
Carol, It is great to read everyone's stories because it helps me see I can do this. I went to the meeting tonight thinking I'll just do the meeting but I knew I had to weighin to see how bad I did, to keep me in check, and I was up that 2.2 and .2 over the limit but since I weighin every week I was covered for the month and got away without the paying, and the night was about a reason, a season and a lifetime I'm still working on that lifetime. The reason was easy a wedding, the season was easy, I did it for my kids, now the lifetime I have to do and keep doing this for ME!! so Back to I'm #1, Thanks ladies for giving me somewhere to ramble. your all a great support. Grainne how old was this trainer

It's April Fool's Day! graemlins/clown.gif
I'm workin' on a plan to get DH...but he usually catches on every year. LOL
Today I go and get my monitor put on. I have guests coming for dinner on Saturday (making my special famiy recipe for "Sunday Gravy" or spaghetti sauce) so the pressure of performance will probably start my heart a flutterin'.... This couple does not like coffee at all so my traditional tiramisu goes out the window for dessert and I have to come up with something else. Fussy, fussy people....the DH doesn't like cream cheese either, but loves chocolate. I'm browsing my books looking for something super chocolatey.......
Grainne - That 3 pounds will come off, you're doing everything right. And you just started at the gym, so cut yourself a little slack!
Kyoot - You sound like you have a busy day planned for today! I like keeping busy...boredom is my worst enemy when it comes to food. Also, I have a great pizza dough recipe that I use for myself, and also I like thin crust, I have a great recipe for thin crust pizza but it takes forethought as you have to start it the night before.
Cheryl39 - I know how you feel...I keep trying on my "at goal" jeans to see how I'm doing and that donut is still staring me in the face. But I'm doing everything right and I'll be back to exercising in a couple of weeks...hopefully SOMETIME this summer it will all payoff.
Jenn - I like your "doable" goal. I think that really REALLY helps that we pick the smaller goals that are easily achieved. Eventuually all the smaller goals add up to that ultimate goal we have for ourselves. Good luck getting to 169.9!
Nancy - It sure IS fun to bake when you know you're doing it for someone and it won't be YOU eating it! All that baking I did for DF on Tuesday went out the front door when I left and it didn't return with me. But I still had fun!
Carol - Any good buys yesterday? You know how I love a good deal!
A big hello to everyone else...I hope you have a wonderful day! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

I've exercised: elliptical and upper body. Had a healthy breakfast, got my pedometer ON, and it's time to be a cleanin' fool! tongue.gif
Way to look on the bright side, Grainne! ;) You made me LOL, so you get ten points from me! :D "Morbid fear of maintenance". Maybe THAT should be the name of this thread?! LOL.
Raidermom~ Couldn't you do tiramisu with a different flavoring, besides coffee? How could anyone not like tiramisu?! Or how about "comfort food"? Rice pudding, or custard?
As for good buys. Hmmm. I've convinced DH to give up our "messy" coffee grinder, and his manual way of making coffee for a programmable Melitta that grinds AND brews. We'll see how well he likes it. He's been dripping coffee on my white cabinets lately, and this is my solution!
Another beautiful day, Buddies! I can NOT believe this is Oregon?! I think I'm in http://img14.photobucket.com/albums/v41/raidermombcb/cloud9.gif! The Gravenstein apple trees are just starting their pink/white blossoming~ The squirrels are starting to get "crazier" with the corn bungie; several go to it each day...Time to move it higher ((opposite of a limbo beat: " Let's go LOWER now"! :D ))

It is raining here today, no more reprieve.
I just got a new mouse for my work computer and I'm trying it out. It's a trackball type; I hope it fixes a problem I've been having with my arm. I have 14 days to decide if I like it, or if it makes matters worse. So far it's awkward to scroll down and see the old posts.

Time to get back to work... have a great day everyone! No fooling!

Hi all,

Today was busy but not what we had originally planned, we didn't get out on our playdates but we did get some easter eggs cut out of paper and colored, and some bunnies made for our patio window. I got 35minutes done with that ww DVD handed out in January, and I went for my 95minute walk. I've eaten the 35minutes, am on target and will be eating the 95minutes before bed. smile.gif I'm in the GAME!! 1 day down the rest of my life to go
Happy April fools We didn't do much for that today, luckily the boys are too young, but remember TOM and AF they showed up this morning, I guess they were the ones playing the jokes! smile.gif

Grainne, too young for me.

Hi everyone!
TWO good food days in a row, I'm going for a third today, though that might be rough. It's a very celebratory office here today! ALREADY it's been a celebration for my co-worker's 20 year anniversary with the college  and a "coffee hour" for 2 people who just got a HUGE grant (even the president of the college came for it!) Later there is a birthday, then out to lunch with the anniversary co-worker, THEN a ceremony and dessert reception for the college-wide 20+ year people & retirees (gotta love working in higher ed!!) So, lots of food challenges today, but I will take each one as it comes. So far, only partook in 1/2 a bagel.
I'm happy everyone seems like they are going well. Raidermom, I hope the monitor isn't too obtrusive and that your dinner goes well. Grainne, don't worry about the 3 lbs, you are a work-out machine, they'll be off in no time! Hello Kyoot, lizarose, jenn and all other GBTG Buddies.
Yesterday OP wise was okay for me. It started by not bringing my lunch to work, not knowing what I wanted for lunch, ending up lunching at an office taste testing.
I did okay with the content, but probably had a little too much cuz on the way home I felt like I wasn't hungry enough to eat dinner, still full from lunch. But when I got home, I munched and munched, counted everything, but was not in control.
I find that when I eat too much at lunch, I always have dinner issues. Part of me feels full and part of me feels like I don't need the extra points, then I mindlessly eat.
I will just have to go out of my way next time and get a lunch that's better for my program.
Although the taste testing was free and I have to pay for a more OP lunch, it's best for me to pay with a few dollars now instead of a few extra food items that lead to me being out of control later.
I'm back on course this morning though and determined to get and keep these extra pounds off.
GTF

Hi to all of you wonderful GBTGer's
It has been a real hectic week. Lots and lots of things to keep up with. Monday I had my doctor appt that I had been putting off for about three months. I was a little reluctant to fill the prescribed medication, but after my very irritable Tuesday and Wednesday morning I decided that I had better go get it and get started. Lo and behold I started spotting Wednesday PM ARGH!!!! graemlins/crazy.gif 1-1/2 weeks early no wonder I was irritable ;) .
It is supposed to get up to 59 degrees today :D
I am so excited. Hope to have a lot of time outside and maybe even hang out some clothes.
Raidermom I hope everything goes okay with the Holter monitor, as well as your quest for the perfect dessert. I, too am having a family over and they are very careful about what they feed their kids. However, I have to keep it simple, so it looks like Papa Murphy's Pizza, salad, chips, (baked for me) and ice cream sundaes.
WWCarol How do you like the elliptical machine?? I have a friend who has one and loves it. I have a boring stair stepper that my DH thought would help me get "thin thighs" when we were dating, but I really want to sell it and look into an elliptical machine.
GTF I hope that you are getting stronger every day. Keep smilin'
Kyoot I am headed to the basement to do my WW workout that was handed out. I just need a change today and have not had the time to workout since Wednesday. I did play outside most of the morning yesterday with two of my boys and three little girls that I was watching. It was pretty fun and you are so right "Fresh Air + All of those little darlings = Sleepy Children. ;)
Lizarose 3-lb's down. That is FANTASTIC!!
You are doing wonderful!
Jenn It sounds like you are doing great. I know how difficult it can be in a work environment that seems to have celebrations for just about everything. I am glad to be a SAHM for the time being. $ are tight, but it is SO worth it. There is a little less temptation/or should I say I am in charge of the temptations that lurk here. You did great. I love bagels and always find it tough to stop at 1/2.
I have to share this with all of you. I went to my DH's company meeting last night and their guest speaker was a doctor out of the Appleton, WI area. He spoke on Health and Wellness. Basically, my DH's company is starting a Healthy Rewards campaign to try and keep the insurance costs down. There are a lot of incentive's/prizes being offered for losing weight, exercising.... Well this doctor totally blasted the A-diet (which my DH did and is on maintenance now. He will jump over to WW once I get to goal). The doctor said that WW is the most nutritionally sound approach to healthy weight loss and recommends it to everyone who comes to his office and needs to take off some weight. He said the the SB diet is better than the A-diet if you are just not the WW type. The other important thing he stated is that it all boils down to calories in/calories out. Any exercise is better than none and everyone should start out slow and build up. It was really great to hear a doctor (that none of us knew anything about prior)to sing the praises of our wonderful WW program.
Have a great OP day everyone.
Be back later.

Hi Buddies,
Today is going a little slower, we are doing less, looks like rain. I guess if we did some puddle jumping the boys would trash the house and I'd earn some activity with cleaning it but I'm not that into the idea of activity. HA! The snow is melting being out in the woods is keeping the shade on the back lawn and the snow is still there, the front lawn is almost empty of white "stuff", My walk lastnight was "Freezing" cause I refused to put on my winter jacket (what was I thinking?) I had to curl up beside the radiator after I got in. smile.gif It worked I got warm and then Dh warmed me up too. ;)
GTF, I get the same way when I have a "filling" lunch, don't feel so into supper, so I pick at salad those nights. But I get stuck in this must eat supper idea, and that bite me in the butt! and hips, and thighs, and well ykwim.
Lizarose great to see you, hi back!
Jen ACK! on the celebratory crowd, hug the veggie platter! Yep I'm a SAHM, in the US the kids were my make work project since I didn't have a work visa, now they are my reason not to work, I LOVE being home with them. I was a bit lazy at the mom stuff for the winter, but now I'm "back" at it with the "spring fever". Oh I have a load of BABYDUST I found today, that I'm not using so I'll send it your way, and then I found this "Post proceedure" dust I managed to snag from another group and well I'll send that on and I'm praying it all works! I've got a 26/29 rating on this stuff, got to keep my rating.
WendyJ, I think your dh's company is right on the "money". I must have cost my dh's companies lots before I lost, in the run of 5yrs I had 2 babies, bought an excerise machine, gall bladder surgery, and hernia repair. It adds up and I know I would have be able to avoid the Gall Bladder, and teh hernia repair (both emergencies) if I had been smart enough and bought the Excerise machine first, then had the babies, then lost the weight again. smile.gif
TGIF, wow this week is flying and we are only on page2!!!
most go do some excerise to add to the thread and here and there. smile.gif
Oh I woke up to "bunnywabbit" and mr2 in bed with me this morning, I don't even remember eithe of them coming in? You would think I would remember a big Fluffy bunny and a 35lb 2yrold climbing into my bed? nope!
ACK! I hear screaming Time to go

Good afternoon buddies!
The monitor is OFF! What a pain that thing is to lug around, sheesh! It looked liked I was pregnant too, LOL! The tech told me to take everything off exactly 24 hours later and return it at my convenience. I had to complain that the parking structure at the hospital wouldn't allow me to park my high-top conversion van....the only other alternative was to use valet parking. Not me..I parked in valet myself and refused to pay anyone to park my car. Then I complained to the tech while I was there and told him he would have to wait until DH got home from work with HIS car before I come back with the Holter.
I DID find the perfect dessert....Chocolate Braumkuchen. Yes, it's German and I'm serving Italian...but it is light and very visually stunning. It is paper thin alternate layers of white and chocolate cake, topped with a sour cream layer with halved strawberries and chocolate frosting piped in-between. I haven't made it in YEARS because it's so involved...but to impress dinner guests I'll stop at nothing. ;)
Carol - How could anyone NOT like Tiramisu?? You got me......it's mind boggling. I'm glad the weather has been so wonderful for you...it has been very gray and cool here, very depressing. I SO need some sunshine!
Nancy - How is that trackball working for you? I think it's a matter of getting used to it....I used to have one and loved it.
Kyoot - too much food talk....AYUP! I really enjoy cooking and baking and would love to go to the local culinary arts school when Sarah is in 1st grade....it's ranked 3rd in the country! But we are now talking about private school for Sarah and an expensive Olympic gymnastics academy....which means I think I'm going to ask Miss Sandra for a PAYING job after next year. I'd miss her too much anyway so she needs to keep me around. ;)
BTW - not going to ask how DH warmed you up. tongue.gif
Liz - Congrats on the 3 pounds, that's great!! graemlins/thumbup.gif
Jenn - Thanks for the well-wishes...much appreciated! I hope that DAY THREE proves just as easy for you as one and two.....
WendyJ - I've been on the SBD and I really don't think it compares to Atkins at all. I feel it CAN be very WW friendly...except for that first couple of weeks. The hardest thing with counting points AND doing SBD is counting high point items like olive oil, nuts and peanut butter....they can zap those points! But it was a learning experience and I know how to choose foods a little more wisely...foods that satisfy the hunger for a longer period of time. But I like the portion control and accountibility of WW......
GTF - It's funny......I think I just sensed your postive thoughts and well wishes...the atmosphere is light and uplifting! Thanks buddy....
Sewcrazy - Glad you are enjoying your trainer...that'll keep you motivated! Keep up the good work... graemlins/thumbup.gif
A big hello to all who did not check in yet........have a great day everyone! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Hi everyone. I can't believe another rainy day.
Kyoot, you are such a good mommy. Glad you're in the game. its infectious.
Jen, the people at your work sound like a fun bunch. I came from the kind of environment. remember the moment passes.
GTF, I know abou the taxes. We have to also. Haven't even looked at the state yet.
Liz, that is so great. You should post your journal so I can copy you.
Wendy graemlins/wave.gif smart man that doctor.
Cheryl, I hope you find out soon (next week) whatever the monitor caught. That dessert does sound exquisite.
I have WI tomorrow. I don't think I did as well as Liz but I'm hoping.
Later

Good evening buddies,
We had a cool rainy day here too. But that's OK, I had to work anyhow. We are expecting more rain and maybe snow. I know, I know, but the winter isn't over until it snows in April, so we might as well get it over with.
I've had a tough day, I got double whammied by a cold and TOW this morning. I wound up taking the afternoon off as sick time. I got out the PS/2 for a while, and generally rested. This has not done good things for my exercise program. I need to be sure and get time in tomorrow (no I don't know when).
Tomorrow is dd's music contest. Then in the afternoon I need to do my baking and taxes.
Cheryl, I need more time to know if I like the trackball. I don't know if I'm trading elbow problems for thumb problems. I hope to try a different trackball device too. I hope I can adjust to having 3 pointing devices for 2 computers (the work laptop has a TrackPoint which works well for office stuff at home, and I plug it into a port replicator at my desk -- I wouldn't mind a full size keyboard that had one). My home computer has a mouse. At work I don't have a big enough keyboard surface to hold the keyboard and have room for a mouse, so the mouse has been up on my desk, and my elbow has decided it no longer likes that arrangement. I guess ergonomics starts to matter when things start to hurt, and maybe pushing 50 has something to do with that.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Morning, Budettes~
My mom is soooo cool! She's 84, has a "personal trainer", and says she's going to "die healthy"!
I have been feeling defeated again...so it's back-to-meetings on Monday, NO MATTER WHAT!! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif NO excuses.
Today is, again, unbelievably GORGEOUS. DD is here, and after DH gets back from work we're going to GARDEN! graemlins/thumbup.gif Usually Fall is my favorite time-of-year, but now I'm thinking of replacing it with SPRING! :D
Wendy~ We bought a cheap-o Orbitrek through HSN. The GOOD thing was, we discovered DH loved it and used it. The BAD thing was he ground it into a pile of metal shavings. Then we purchased a Precor and have been totally happy with it.
Raidermom~ Did you heart act-up while you had the monitor on? Or do you know?...Many years ago I had a friend who served Jell-O Instant Chocolate pudding plus rum, to her guests with "refined tastebuds" and they raved (not knowing)! ;)
Well, I'd better get hopping! Lots of fun ahead!

Peekin' in to say HI! graemlins/wave.gif
I haven't even showered yet and I STILL have to dust the living room..... But I still have 2 hours....the sauce is simmering and the dessert (which turned out oh-so-beautiful btw) is resting peacefully in the fridge. All that's left is salad and a cheese and cracker tray.
Nancy - Ya wanna venture a guess as to how I woke up this morning??? With a cold and TOM..... I have been very concious of being on my best behavior though....if I let TOM show I'll get no help from DH when he gets home. So I'm calm and serene....that's a first!
Carol - I spent about 3 hours making that dessert....and that's no BS. I am soooooo worried about the sour cream layer on top...it's just a very thin layer that's put under the broiler for a minute...but I'm worried these fuss-budgets won't touch it. But I've changed my attitude...if they won't try it...more for US! I really don't care WHAT they try.......
I'm also thinking of pulling out the ol' Trivial Pursuit....me and DH always smoke everyone we play with. So if they rub me the wrong way at dinner, I'm pulling it out! :D tongue.gif
Have a great day everyone...it's back to work for me! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Cheryl~ GOOD Morning! GREAT attitude~ graemlins/thumbup.gif
When my DSis was an overseas exchange student in Germany, her family had a HUGE black dog. They would put down the left-over streudel for him. DSis said he inhaled it in ONE bite...BUT...left ALL the raisins behind! ;) tongue.gif
Surely, people can do the same. :D
Good luck. Have some FUN after all of your efforts! :D graemlins/kiss.gif

Hello buddies
We had a busy Day today but it was worth it, the boys both got haircuts. I go for mine Monday night instead of a walk, and my walking buddie will walk Tuesday with me instead, since we usually take Tuesdays off, but witht he time change we can do it after all. smile.gif don't forget to change your clocks, clock changers.
The boys did mcD's today and Dh and I did subway! Totally OP today, I did so well I still have 10flex for the rest of the week and I walked 5 off tonight. I feel great, and I feel back on track, got all my water in, got all my veggies in and got all my dairy/calcium in.
Carol, YAY on the gardening,
CherylR I hope your night went well with your guests
Cheryl39 Thanks for hte mom compliment, I think losing those 75-80lbs helped me get more motivated for the kids, they need a mom who can play or chase them.
Nancy, another busy weekend but I'm know you'll keep it all on track, you seem to "breeze" through busy like busy was made for nancy.
Happy Saturday to all, I'm off to bed..oops change clock first.

Cheryl your dessert sounds like its from a magazine recipe (level hard). Don't tell them what the top layer is.
Carol, I still like Spring the best. I'm on the lookout for our bluebirds. I'm still going weekly. I volunteered to setup the chairs next week, they promised me a box of 2 point bars. Maybe I can change that to a courtesty WI. BTW, I lost 1.4#
Hi Kyoot, you sound pumped. I am too. I even planned next weeks' dinners. Thats one of the things that got me to goal bf.
Hi everyone else graemlins/wave.gif

Good morning everyone; Happy Sunday to you all. I havnt posted in awhile but wanted to let you know I have not given up. Its hard to stay on program week after week and watch the scale bounce up and down with the same pound. Last week I lost the .8 that I gained the week before. I have been getting alot more exercise. I am sore but in a good way. I am thinking about buying a bike as another way to exercise. I mean a real bike you ride outside on. Is that a better workout than walking? Its been a long time since I rode so I am a little afraid I will fall off in the street. Lots to do today. More yardwork and fence painting. A basketball game on tv at 12:30 (go lakers!) and a whole house to clean. My plate is full but not with food! Have a great day everyone!

GOOD Morning, GBTG-friends!
I had the most productive day yesterday! :D I PRE-Spring-cleaned! tongue.gif DD polished the furniture and vacuumed, while I mopped and dusted. We were a great team, and I feel "hopeful" about keeping-my-routines again. It's the first of the month, so Flylady's zone is the front porch/entry/dining rooms. I polished the front door, washed the bench, did the sidelights and everything on the porch looks SPIFFY and inviting! graemlins/thumbup.gif
Today isn't supposed to be as beautiful as yesterday, but it looks like it to ME?! So I'm in shorts and ready to enjoy...You're right, Nancy, about Spring colors...I LOVE all the shades of GREEN! (Along with all the other colors, of course~) Time Of Whenever. Won't you be glad when meno-pause has meno-stopped! ;) You are in menopause when you haven't had menses for ONE YEAR. Sometimes you'll go 8 months, and then have to start counting all over again...! tongue.gif LOL.
Sandylee~ I don't think you can beat walking! However, I think the bike's a GREAT idea because it's always good to have variety and keep exercise "fun"...which bike-riding would definitely be! You know. Wind in your hair...bugs in your teeth~ :D
I swear, Buddies, I am fighting with myself all the time. In my head. The goal IS worth the effort! And we ALL deserve to BE there! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif Let's DO what we need to DO.

I'm here at night, yes. The contest went OK, we won't know the results until Monday because we didn't want to hang around and wait. I give the 5th graders a lot of credit for showing up at a solo contest!
And the concert is over. I like our new conductor. The solo violinist didn't look like his picture at all. I think the picture is from around 20 years ago! But he played wonderfully.
Between the two, I made cookies and also mixed up the hot cross buns. I put the bun dough in the fridge after it rose the first time, that lets it keep until I can work on it some more. I give myself exercise credit for mixing up everything by hand!
So now the hot cross buns are made and rising for the last time and I'm taking a break. I make them half size (it beats cutting them in half later and they all get the little crosses on them). I have 9 dozen. And 5 dozen sugar cookies in the shape of crosses for the kids. By the time I'm done, with the time change, I'm not going to get much sleep. Oh well I can rest tomorrow.
Carol, time of "whenever." This one was 17 days -- sometimes it feels like every week! But the previous one was 71 days. My dr. said it was going to be like that for the next couple of years. No more time of the "month." PMS sets in on day 15 and lasts for the duration. Having it for 2 months was no fun.
Carol, Cheryl, I never appreciated spring until I moved to central CA (San Jose area) for several years and came back. I knew I missed fall, but I had no idea how colorful spring is. Every tree will have its own color, just like fall but more subtle. That stage of spring is still over a month away.
I also booked our "spring" vacation. I feel like I missed winter - it was either too cold or we were too busy. So we are going on a ski vaction, to Maine! (We can drive there. No airplanes this time.) We're leaving the day after Easter, and returning a week later.
I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Good morning Buddies, oops AFternoon now, the day is flying away. I got to mass, Dh had cooked lunch when I got home, YAY!! so I just had to stuff a burger in, 5points, I used Ww bread instead of regular bun. smile.gif Supper I think is a ham but I have to get it in the oven first.
nancy, Sounds yummy, all those buns and cookies,
Carol, Your making me Jealous with your talk of shorts, we are still waiting on the snow meltage in my back yard. smile.gif
Cheryl I'm pumped but I should be pumped more, I'm working on it. smile.gif

Hey Hi Hi Buddies! :D
My dinner went very well last night and there were NO leftovers...that's saying something! Miss fussbudget Cheryl and her equally fussy husband were quite pleased and impressed! I waited until they were almost done with their dessert and I mentioned "gosh, I was so nervous that you wouldn't like sour cream...." Guess what? He doesn't like sour cream! He said that he liked it regardless though, LOL. He was even counting the layers in the dessert and said to DW, "gosh, and we only brought her flowers!" DH and I were so bummed that there were no leftovers...that we woke up this morning and made another Baumkuchen....LOL. All that's left to do is pipe the frosting on and slice some strawberries. DD took a picture of it with her cell phone, but it doesn't show off all the pretty layers. I'll have to scan a picture of the one included with the recipe so I can show you guys. With TWO people doing it, it's so much quicker and easier.
I was a little spooked last night ladies........more than a little. After our guests left I decided that since I was feeling a little stuffy I would take some Sudafed before going to bed.....now I don't know if this is it at all I'm just telling you the order of events. Anyway, I went to bed at 11 and fell promptly asleep after a long day of cooking and cleaning. I awoke at midnight, or should I say my heart woke me up at midnight. This time it lasted about 45 minutes....and this time I didn't need to put my fingers on my neck to check my pulse....I could FEEL it bouncing back off of the mattress. My heart rate was between 100-110 for that entire time....and from a sleeping state!! I don't get it! I going to tell my doctor about it for sure...but I hope that doesn't happen again. DH says maybe the Sudafed brought it on and has forbid me from taking any cold medicine until I talk to the doc. I wish I knew what was going on...........
Kyoot - Ham sounds delicious...I am making one next Sunday.
Carol - Boy, you're a busy little beaver aren't you? The sun is out in full force today and if it weren't so cool outside I'd like to wash some windows!
Sandylee - I agree with Carol, consider a bike something different to keep you motivated. The good thing about a speed bike is being able to play with the gears a little and make it harder for yourself to peddle.
Nancy - We both must be in the baking mood this weekend! I am also making sugar cookies today for DD...I promised her, so I am!
Cheryl39 - I don't know that the dessert is necessarily hard, how about chaotic? Lot's of dirty dishes.....LOL I hope to get that pic scanned so you all can see.
My parents get the bluebirds in their yard...do you clean out the nestbox for them?
Well, back to the cookies....I'll talk to you all soon. Have a great day! graemlins/wave.gif

OMG Cheryl, I don't know if the sudafed could've caused it. I hope you find out soon.
Kyoot, what a dear DH to have that all ready for you when you got home.
Carol, I know what you mean and the Goal is worth it. I made myself a mini goal of getting to 160, then worry about 155. I want to lose another 1.5-2 by next Saturday. Eat more spring seasonal foods was a good tip from you too.
Nancy, we actually had snow this morning :( . I needed to shovel it off the deck.
Sandy, hi and graemlins/thumbup.gif posting. Its good to hear from everyone.
Talk later on, I'm fixing roast chicken, microwaved sweet potatoes and roasted green beans, califlower.

Good afternoon all,
The coffee hour went pretty well, except for me forgetting to make decaf and needing a run to the store for creamer. I decided how many buns I wanted to be left over and left them home, and the rest disappeared! I have become a "tradition." In less than 10 years. Cheryl, I started making sugar cookies at Easter when my dd was an infant and couldn't have candy or eggs yet. I wanted to do something! So I bent a bicsuit cutter to the shape of an egg. I guess the third time I did that, it became a tradition. I now have several shapes (bunnies and chicks and the like). I'm glad to hear your dinner went well. The most elaborate dessert I ever make is pie!
It is now snowing here, yes, it always snows in April. We may get an inch or so.
We have a pork roast in the oven for dinner tonight. We have a ham for next week.
Carol, good work cleaning! Wanna do my house? tongue.gif Given my record, I am not looking forward to having PMS for a whole year. I hope that part subsides somewhat.
Sandylee, I love my bike! We have a variety of stuff around here, flat roads and hills and such to build leg muscles and endurance. I think it's a great workout. You can set your own pace, just as you can walk or run. If you're going to bother, start at a bike shop -- your bike won't spend as much time in the shop. Most bikes these days have multiple gears, so you can go faster and get up hills you never thought possible. Whether you want to start with a "hybrid" or "mountain bike" depends on how much time you'll be off the road. Don't worry, you don't forget how to ride a bike. Get a good helmet and some padded bike shorts and enjoy!
Kyoot, our spring is later too. Maybe not as late as yours though!
Anyone I missed or who stops by later, have a great day!
