Off topic - google seach engine and your phone number

They should this on one of the local news channels (I think). If you go to Google and type in your phone#, your name and address come up along with map directions to your home. :eek:
If you want your name removed from this you can by clicking on the phone icon button. Click on that and follow the instructuions to get that information removed. It say it takes 48 hours.
Its simple, I did my #, my parents and my inlaws.

I removed my number about a year ago....can you believe the info out there?

Try typing in your full name....some interesting stuff comes up there too! At least it did for me...... posts from yeeeeeeeeeeeears ago, there they were!

I tried this last evening, by putting in my own tel. number & then, my full name. Nothing came up. Not a darn thing. I then put in other's names, and nothing came up. Must not know know anyone interesting, eh?

Good Morning,

When I entered my phone number at the main search bar at www.google.com, (http://www.google.com,) my DH address comes up. It must print the information from the phonebook. I used to teach computer programming at a local college. The prof who got me the job many years ago told DH that the University of Oshkosh (he's been teaching there for a few years) is trying to get an ethics course as a prerequisite for a Computer Science Major. Sorely needed, I'd say.

Ok, I put in our business # & DH's name & our business came up. I don't mind that, but it would have made me crazy if any of our personal info. had come up when I put in our home phone.

Hi,

I've done this before too. I believe that the only thing that will come up is what is printed in your local phone book. My address is omited and that's the way it comes up on Google. So if you are unlisted it shouldn't come up at all. When I did a search of my name. All I came up with was a bunch of things related to my name. Then on the third page I came up with a link to my Mom's obituary. That was strange.

I did a search with ny name and nothing pertaining to me came up. An obit did under my maiden name

I did another search on google for my aunt, her name comes up, like in the phone book. On the right of her name is a spot for getting a map to her house.
I don't like the map to one's house. The thing is not to give out your phone number on anything. Like surveys.

This is weird, I typed in my phone number and it came up with SOMEONE ELSE'S name and telephone number. We've only had the number for 2.5 years :rolleyes: Well, I guess I should be glad.

When I type in my name, here's one of the first hits: "Jennifer Paterson aka One Fat Lady"
(I guess you know what my real name is now!)

Never a good feeling when you see your name next to the phrase "fat lady"!!! (And, no, they we're not talking about me in 2002!!)

I didn't bother to go through the 12,000+ hits for my name, but maybe I'm in there somewhere!!
