I run about 4 x a week for my cardio workout. I'd like to add some strength training to my week. I have both the hand weights and the ankle weights. Can anyone suggest a basic video that can get me started on strength training?

I'm not sure of a specific video, but I would suggest you go to www.collagevideo.com (http://www.collagevideo.com)
They have the most comprehensive selection of workout videos and DVDs that I've ever seen, and what I like best is they have a customized search feature that finds videos most like what you are looking for. I'll let you know if I think of any specific titles, too, though.

Edited to get the link right.

Hi there, I have made purchases through Collage and have been very happy.

Someone I enjoy quite a bit who uses weights can be found at

www.cathe.com (http://www.cathe.com)

This is Cathe Friedrich. I LOVE her step workouts, and actually all of her stuff. I have a number of her DVD's. She is very motivating, but not for the faint of heart.

I have the the Kathy Smith Personal Trainer DVD, it is excellent. It has an upper body (dumbell) workout, lower body workout using lunges squats etc, an ab workout, short stretch and yoga segments and a cardio aerobics workout all on one disc. It is made from separate VHS' that Kathy has produced over the years...so if you want VHS I'm sure you could get them. The upper and lower body workouts are particularly good. You get a great overall workout in 30-40 minutes or so.And she gives good tips and demos on form.

I just started strength training and am using "Workouts for Dummies" DVD. The segments are only 15 minutes with a workout for legs, arms, abs, and rear. It's explained very simply & does use hand & ankle weights. The only complaint I have is the warm up segment is really hard to follow!

I too own the Workout for Dummies.

Its really great because each section is only 15 minutes, so i pick 2 for each day smile.gif The workout is basic but worthwhile and everything is explained in lots of informative detail smile.gif
