Hello Again, fellow exercise buddies, Everyone ready to join me for another week of exercise??

Last week was pretty good for me. I continue to increase both tensions on the Nordic Track, so even though I am staying at 6 miles, those 6 miles get increasingly harder as time goes on. This week I am also going to try increasing the incline, just a little bit.
I will again alternate the N.T. with Cathe Friedrich (step) & Christi Taylor workouts (step & aerobics), plus daily 30 min.outside moderate walks, weather permitting.
Good thing I only work part-time, & I'm home each afternoon. How else would I fit all of this exercise in?

Now....let's get this party started!!

Dawna

Sun. - scheduled day off for recovery
Mon. -48 mins.Nordic Track,6 miles, 531 cal.burned, + 30 min.mod.outside walk
Tues. -Christi Taylor Step workout, plus 30 min.mod.outside walk
Weds. -50 mins.Nordic Track,6 miles,544 cal.burned, + 30 min.mod.outside walk
Thurs. -Cathe Friedrich 50 min.step workout,plus 30 mins.mod.outside walk
Fri. -6 miles Nordic Track,plus 30 mins.mod.outside walk
Sat. - scheduled day off for recovery

I'm in again, too! My goal is again six days of exercise, with at least three workouts at Curves.

This week is meeting week (out 2 evenings and one daytime meeting), plus a Stat Holiday, plus dd coming home for Easter. As well, ds is suspended from school tomorrow so I won't be able to leave home (I'm sitting on him, making sure he's working his bu*t off getting caught up with schoolwork while he's suspended.)

All this to say, it shall be an interesting week for me! I'll try and get my workouts over in the mornings since my evenings are so busy.

graemlins/thumbup.gif Sunday: 50 min on Nordic Trak and bike
graemlins/thumbup.gif Monday: 40 min on home machines
graemlins/thumbup.gif Tuesday: Curves and a 20 minute walk with friends
graemlins/thumbup.gif Wednesday: 30 minute moderate walk
graemlins/thumbup.gif Thursday: Curves
graemlins/thumbup.gif Friday: 45 min Walk plus outside chores, 10,500 steps for the day
graemlins/thumbup.gif Saturday: Curves

LegalEagle: be careful on your NT, you don't want to reinjure yourself again. I'm impressed, I still can only do about 30 minutes on mine at a time and only get 2 miles in. So you are going twice as long as me, but 3x as far in that time. That's mind boggling to me!

Hello buddies!

graemlins/sleep.gif Mon - work long hours
graemlins/thumbup.gif Tue - 60 min. treadmill

Have a fantastic week.

Welcome back, everyone~ It's so nice to have you all join me again.

Kathryn: Re. Nordic Track~ Yes, I really move on my Nordic Track & this time around I am taking a day off between N.T. workouts, and doing different exercise on the off days. Now, I have to say 2 miles in 30 mins. is mind boggling to me, especially if you have been using it for a while. Is the tension too tight for you? I think something has to be wrong?? I'm in pretty good shape, but I wouldn't say exceptional.
BTW, at the end of the 6 miles I take my heart rate. It is 21-22 beats in 10 seconds, which I know is pretty good. Try taking yours in a 10 second period after you use your N.T. I'm curious as to what it is.

You are talking about the Nordic Track Cross County skier, right?

BTW, when I lst. started using my N.T. again, I could barely do 5 mins. without feeling like a heart attack was surely imminent. It's taken me months to get to the point I am at now.

Hugs,
Dawna

Ok, I'm back for the week. After a bout of the stomach flu on Friday and my DH 30th birthday today I have been away from the computer the whole weekend. This weekend was spending time with my DH because he starts his 10 days straight working this week and then off to Louisiana for a week to visit his dad's side of the family along with his DM, DF, DS, DBIL and DGod daughter.
So I will definitely be getting my exercise in this week, between workouts and getting packed for the trip. The seven of us with our luggage, stroller and car seat are all going to fit into a grand caravan. We'll see. I think I may be washing clothes on vacation.

Ok, I am going to try for 5 on two off this week.

graemlins/sleep.gif Sunday: Scheduled day off
graemlins/ugh.gif Monday: unscheduled day off (cut my big toe and I couldn't wear any shoes)
:D Tuesday:30 minutes walking
:D Wednesday: The Firm Maxium Cardio Burn plus Abs
:D Thursday: 30 minutes walking
:D Friday: 30 minutes walking, housework for 90 minutes straight
smile.gif Saturday: no structured exercising, but cleaned the house and did lots of ironing.

Hey everyone,
Way to go with making a commitment to be active this week everyone. Especially you Jerrilyn, I know what it's like not to want to get out of bed during TOM, but now that I force myself, I do find exercise can be quite good for relieving cramps and back-tension and headaches. So just do it! It's worth it!

Anyway, as for reasons not to work out, I seem to have plenty these days...sore knees, sore shoulders, sore wrists, you name it. I actually think it's the long days at the computer at work that's doing me in, so I'm committed to keeping at it in terms of exercise! I need my workouts for stress relief, to keep my energy levels up and my muscles loose right?! But you may notice a little less running, a little more low impact cardio and strength+stretch stuff as I try to get past this (minor) knee problem.

Have a great week everyone!

graemlins/thumbup.gif Sunday: 50 min yoga (2AP)
graemlins/thumbup.gif Monday: 50 min spinning class 4AP
graemlins/thumbup.gif Tuesday: 30 min run, but no weightlifting :( Must do that tomorrow!
graemlins/thumbup.gif Wednesday: 40 minutes full-body strength training 2AP
graemlins/thumbup.gif Thursday: 50 min yoga
graemlins/thumbup.gif Friday: 35min run

Howdy folks,

Count me in for another week -- I'm training for both a triathalon and a half marathon in May, so it helps me to come here every week and plan out my schedule for the week.

Girlinmotion -- not sure what kind of knee problems you're having, but when I was having IT band problems, I found a great website with stretches/strengthening exercises for all sorts of sports injuries. Check it out (http://www.sportsmed.buffalo.edu/info.html) Good luck -- I know what a drag it can be. Take it easy on yourself and you'll be back in fine form in no time.

OK, here's my plan:
graemlins/thumbup.gif Sunday: 14K run (longest I've ever run before, woo hoo!), 4 hours volleyball
graemlins/sleep.gif Monday: much deserved rest day
graemlins/thumbup.gif Tuesday: weights, 30 min. swim, missed my spinning class cause I'm an idiot
graemlins/thumbup.gif Wednesday: weights, 30 min. swim, 1 hr. run (hills), 2 hrs. volleyball (managed to get through all of it -- thought I might have bitten off more than I could chew!)
graemlins/thumbup.gif Thursday: 30 min. run, 2 hrs. volleyball
graemlins/thumbup.gif Friday: 16K run (moving my long run to Friday because I'll be in Toronto all weekend)
graemlins/thumbup.gif Saturday: lots of walking in Toronto, shopped 'til I dropped!

Hi exercise buddies. My plan this week is to take it easy. I wanted to wait until later in the summer to take a week off but on Sunday after my bike ride I was so tired in the afternoon all I could do was nap. It almost felt like I had the flu. So, I think I need a break and then I will get right back at it!

I will be active, just not my usual routine.

Sun: Bike ride
Mon: Walk the dogs
Tues: Walk the dogs
Wed: Left for camping and a short walk on the beach.
Thurs: Nice 14 mile bike ride and home from our camp trip.
Fri: Walk the dogs
Sat: Nothing-poor dogs

Legal Eagle:

I have a NT Sequoia model of the ski machine. Basic version (I noticed yours has incline, mine doesn't). Just a knob to adjust arm tension and a strap you pull up for the ski resistance. I've got my resistance set to just under 6 (don't know if that will correspond to your machine or not.) At that level it is stiff enough that that the skis don't move too easily so I'm afraid of falling off it, but isn't too hard for me to use.

Mine has electronics for the speed, cadence, distance and time. I'm not pushing myself hard but my heart rate is between 135 - 145 during a workout (I seem to have a high heart rate when working out despite a good resting rate of around 62). I can go faster if I'm using Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell, but since my goal is long and slow this time around, I don't push myself on the NT.

I love the NT because I have a bad knee and the fact that it is non-impact means I can still work out even when my knee is acting up. As well, it's the best thing I've tried for reducing my butt.

...Kathryn

Hi again, Ok, I think our machines are different. I don't think mine uses a strap to increase leg tension, and it has a variety of inclines. Yours has arm pullies, right? & you can increase the tension on this also?

I will have to look up the Model name of mine.

I also love the way it is not hard on your knees. I have never had any trouble with my knees, but I don't want to either.

Wow! I worked out every day this week! And I made my goal of Curves as well. I had to drag myself this morning. I pleaded a good case to dh saying it wasn't worth the time to drive in while they were open this morning and then have to drive in again this afternoon to do a family thing. But he told me to go anyway and when it came time to drive ds to work, I threw in my workout bag and kept on going into town.

Now I need to come up with a plan for next week!
