Has anyone out there switched from Atkins to WW? I have a friend who wants to make the switch but is scared of gaining back weight that she's already lost on Atkins. I'M NOT TRYING TO START AN ATKINS VS. WW DEBATE HERE ;)
I just wondered if anyone has made the switch and can offer any suggestions/advice.
Thanks!

Well, your friend probably will gain a little back with the transition. Just because her body will go into a type of shock wondering what's going into it. That's the trouble with Atkins and other low/no carb diets, when you start eating carbs again your adding things to the body that it hasn't had in a while and (in my own terms) needs time to figure out what to do with it. As long as she sticks with it once she starts WW it will come off again.
On the other hand, she may not gain anything. She might just stall and then start losing again. It will probably be a hard transition at first but help her to stick with it.

I personally began Atkins on July 1, 2003. I lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks. At that point I decided that I decided that I could no longer go 'without' carbs. I went back to WWatchers and did gain slightly the first week. Since then I have had a total loss of 15 pounds.

I think she can do it with the understand and expectation of gaining a little as she reintroduces carbs back into her diet. Her body will need time to adjust. As long as its not a shock she will do fine.
from then on its downwards baby! The healthy way.

I just switched a couple weeks ago. First week I basically stalled, but lost 4 the 2nd full WW week. I'm doing OK reintroducing carbs, just still being careful of "white/processed" stuff.

She may gain alittle at first but she may not. Bottom line, she'll feel soooo much better! Take care, Patty
