Flex Plan is no different than 1-2-3 or Winning Points!
I am betting you didn't think or have a second thought about eating anywhere in your range before. This program is no different...just the way you earn your banked points...you get thenm all in advance now.
They want you to get to your minimum daily, eat any activity points you earn then use your flex points.
If you look at the FlexPlan this way:
you have a minimum to eat just like before.
you have a maximum to eat just like before by dividing the Flex Points over 7 days gives you a 5 point range to work with...if you don't eat them push them to the next day or spread them out over your remaining days or don't eat them at all.
The only difference now is you use your activity points on the day you earn them and you use them before you start using your Flex Points.
If you have been doing Winning Points nothing but the way it is counted has changed except they went back to when 1-2-3 Success was in place and people ate higher and lost better until they started to abuse the fiber and that rule they are keeping and not changing back.

You can slow your loss just as easily by not eating enough. If your body doesn't get enough fuel it will think it's being starved and hold on to that stored fat. Eat your points, the weight will come off!

I do have one concern. The new Flex Plan has more points--more points(2 per day)--once averaged out per week. I was eating at the top of my points, and managing quite nicely thank you, and now there are more points. If I average them +5 per day, won't the extra points act against me?
Are we supposed to mix it up?
Is the goal to mimic Wendy's plan, i.e. to deliberately eat in wider variations (higher using flex points) and then "eat to target" the other days?
Does anyone have enough experience with this yet?

Avani, I don't think we have a reading on that yet. Like the old ranges, some people will eat about the same every day and some people will plan wide variations (like the Wendi plan), just like before. If WW wanted us to do things a certain way, they'd put it in the rules. They want us to have the flexibility to do things our own way. I do believe they do NOT intend for anyone to eat their Target every day and never use the Flex Points or Activity Points. I believe they expect most people to wind up in the middle somewhere. Beyond that, it may be hard to believe any two of us are on the same program, if you look at our menus for a week.
I now suggest working Flex Points similarly to how you were doing Winning Points - high end, middle, low end, use or not use APs, etc., until you get the hang of the mechanics of the new plan. A few people may need to add 1-2 pt. to get from the old minimum to the new Target, but other than that if you eat exactly the same, you will have Flex Points to spare (and use if you want).

W/W went back to the points total for the week when more people were successful and had less plateaus (1-2-3 Success). Remember mixing it up keeps the body guessing and can actually increase your metabolism by doing that. Personally there are days I am only 1 or 2 over my target and days like today when I am 10-15 over (using AP and FP so I am not off program).
