Hey there,
My question is regarding weighing meat portions. I know that with chicken it is 1 pt per oz. Now I need to know if that is cooked weight or raw. If it's cooked weight, how do you know how much raw meat to start out with so you end up with 3oz.
Any help or tips is appreciated.

Generally, the points are for meat after it's already cooked. Depending on the cut, most meat gives you about 12 oz. of cooked weight for 1 pound of raw. I think a 4 1/2 to 5 oz. chicken breast would yield about 3 oz. cooked weight. Hope that helps.

hey I know this is way late but over here (in Germany) in our shopping book it lists the meat as precooked weight, then shows how much it would be once cooked. Here's an example:
Lean beef filet - 125g raw/100g cooked 3pts
other things such as chicken breasts are only listed in precooked weight. Hope this helps anyone who needs it. For some reason I don't think that WW expects people to know how much weight a piece of meat/poultry/fish weigh before it's cooked so that it equals 3,5 or more ounces. Then again I could be wrong it has happened once before, but I decided to get married anyway ;)

our leader was saying at the meeting that meat loses at least 1 oz when cooked. So ive been weighing it after i cook it.

GETTING A SCALE, and switching between grams and oz regularly to see what a true ounce really weighs!, was one of the best things I did. A totally suitable electronic scale is under $30, and is a great educational device.
For me it is also a way to remove all guilt, even if it is self-imposed guilt to begin with. Weigh and measure my entitled portions, and eat with delight and abandon.
