I've been giving a lot of thought to becoming a leader when I hit lifetime in 3 weeks. What's all involved in becoming a leader? Is it best to be a receptionist first? Do you have any of say about the meetings you can lead and your schedule? Is there a minimum number of meetings you must lead?
I know I always wished for an early morning weekday meeting I could hit before work.
I'd be continuing with my full time job, but I think my experiences could be helpful to other members and it would help keep me motivated to maintain. How do you go about becoming a leader? Do you call WW or just talk to your leader?

Will you move to my state? We sure need leaders! If you are interested, it is probably best to talk to your leader who will tell her Territory Manager you are interested. I can only speak from my experience. They needed a leader immediately when I was approached by my leader asking if I would like to work for WW. I was sent to Kansas City for a fabulous 3-day training. Then I went right to work.

Leaders are required to learn how to do the receptioning, but in my case, I sort of learned the receptioning on the job when I was asked if I wanted to substitute as a receptionist in the summer when they needed help.

I'm a school teacher so I do only 1-2 meetings a week during the school year. I pretty much have told them when I can work. They are very accomodating. I suppose your schedule would depend on what meetings they had open...etc. But I sub all over the area in the summer as both leader and receptionist.

It's a FABULOUS way to stay at goal...which was one of my strong motivations to join, but I really love to help and encourage other folks. Makes me feel as though I am doing something to change a life for the better!

Hi Joanne. I'd imagine that WW will approach you once you make lifetime - that's what happened to me. Tell them you're interested in being a leader and they'll give you the details about getting trained. You would be a great leader if for no other reason than the amount of weight you've lost - you'd be a terrific inspiration for many people.

I was a leader 5 years ago. I just taught one class a week in addition to working my full-time (and then some) job. There were three classes taught back-to-back and with different students: week 2; regular meeting; week 1. It took about 2.5 hours if you include preparation for the meetings, weigh-in time, etc.

I liked being a leader. You get extra copies of the materials, discounts on WW product, and you are right: it kept me at goal. I don't know if this is company-wide, but the franchise here required that I weigh in once a week to make sure I was at goal. This was a huge incentive for me, and I stayed at goal the whole time I taught for them. I had to quit when I took a new job where my schedule was going to be too crazy to teach the class. The weight came back, of course. graemlins/ugh.gif

The franchise here likes everyone to know how to do the receptionist work because that's where they typically need substitutes (most Leaders are really loyal to their classes and sub infrequently), but I never learned how - I think it's an option.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you have and good luck!

Sue
