View Full Version : Eating on dates?

I was talking with my friend the other day, and he was grumbling about a girl he'd gone out with recently. He was annoyed because at dinner she didn't eat anything, and he said that "chicks never eat on dates."
As far as most of the "chicks" that I know of, none of them eat on dates either. I know I don't. At least, not much. Why is that? Personally, I'm usually so terrified of spilling on my shirt or slurping or *something* that I tend to hardly eat at all. Anyone else have any thoughts on the starving chicks?

Yeah, when you first get to know someone, it's so nervous-making. But then when you get comfortable, very different. I remember an old boyfriend who used to put food on my plate so I could "leave something for Mr. Manners." (heehee)

For me personally, I think it's the fact that I don't want the guy to think I am a pig and will eat anything put in front of me. And i think a lot of girls think the same way. But I've learned one thing from guy friends.....they really don't care. They would rather a girl eat, then order a salad and only eat half of it. They are taking us out to eat for a reason....to eat and enjoy the company. I have to say that i've gotten a lot better about eating in front of guys. If they are going to analyze everything i put in my mouth, i probably dont want to be around them anyways!! smile.gif

I can totally relate to this. I used to "not eat" on dates, until I found Mr. Right. I was so comfortable with him that I ate and enjoyed myself.

I think the key is not to go overboard. Granted, you wouldn't want to be with a guy who analyzes everything you eat, but put yourself in his shoes. No one wants to see someone pig out either. So choose something relatively healthy (and non-messy!) I also try to leave some food on my plate too. Believe it or not, they do pay attention. I was reading a guy's magazine online once just to see what kind of things they're saying about us, and it mentioned something about watching how much a girl eats and pushing away the dessert cart while she's in the bathroom. I know it sounds awful, but deep down we all want someone who takes care of their body, right?

What about pushing away the desert cart while she was in the bathroom? He did it or she did it? For the benefit of whom?

I think the point they were making was for the guy to push away the dessert cart while his date was in the bathroom so that she wouldn't be tempted to order dessert. Isn't that awful?

Yes. In a word. Pretty darn controlling.

Oh, that's horrible. It's guys like that who make women not eat on dates. Actually, it's guys like that who beat and emotionally kill their wives and girlfriends.
