Okay so I just had my first bad online dating experience!

I went out with this guy I was having doubts about to begin with, I was getting a little irritated because he kept calling, even after we already made plans and it was getting a little annoying.

As soon as I met him I knew he wasn't my type but I was trying to be nice about it. He kept pushing me about making plans to go out again and finally I had to tell him that I didn't think there was anything there. Boy does he have anger problems with women - apparnetly all the girls on jdate are alike, none of us will take the time to get to know someone, blah blah blah...and he kept pushing me and pushing me till finally I said that I wanted to leave.

And when I get home, I had two messages on my machine, I didn't listen to them but the second one started with what a liar I am - which I means that I"m a bad bad person for not giving the freak a chance.

Geez.....do some guys have problems or what???

What a loser. Count your blessings that he was a freak up front instead of finding out after you'd dated him a while.

This is the reason why you never let them know where you live, drive separately and if at all possible, don't give them your phone number. Make plans over the internet. Or get their number and make sure yours is blocked. I've been through all this..maybe this is why I've given up at least for a bit.

I've been in the bad habit of giving out my home number, but I've stopped doing that, now I'm only giving out my cell number.

I dont like the idea of making plans without talking on the phone first though, I don't want to go out with someone without having a conversation on the phone first to determine if I have any interest at all. I am very careful though not to give out any identifying information about myself.

On the plus side, I did get asked out on a second date by a guy who was really nice and I had a good time with. He wasn't my type romantically, but I did enjoy his company. Fortunately the freak of the universe has appeared to have gone away!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get "The Gift of Fear," by Gavin de Becker.

He is a former CIA security advisor. He's protected two presidents and he has an international security agency called Gavin de Becker Incorporated. He wrote "The Gift of Fear" in either '99 or '00.

It's about things that you just decribed. And how potentially dangerous they are, and how basic things can protect you from them. The book is AMAZING and every single woman should swear by it (along with The Watcher's Guide, ;) ) My mom doesn't have time to read and she got it from the library on tape. I read it a few years ago and I feel so much safer and so much more confident after having read it.
