How do I tell him....?

Ok. I have been talking to this guy on the internet for about 4 years. We were great internet friends. I enjoyed talking to him but we were both in other relationships at the time. Well our relationships long since ended and we started talking on the phone. He's totally into me. He calls me all the time and frankly I feel a little smothered. He lives 2 1/2 hours away and I did go to meet him last week but I know in my heart he's just not someone I want to be in a relationship with. Problem is he gets very depressed and I'm afraid to hurt his feelings. Whats the best way to tell him I just want to be friends? I really hate hurting people.

I'm not single, but I heard someone on Oprah describe a way she had been let-down easily.

The guy had said (very friendly), "You know...I just didn't feel that indescribable something that would have let me know that we could be a match."

They also said, "Don't describe reasons why you think it wouldn't work." The person could counter those reasons, and argue them with you. And reasons could be hurtful to them, or linger.

Its funny, there was a time I would have gone out with him simply because I thought I couldn't get anyone else. I thought I had to be grateful for his attention. Not so much anymore.. thanks to WW and BCB
