Hi Tina!

I'm not from Holland, but from Europe! I'm from Sweden. I know that there is one more swedish buddy, Lina who hangs at the 50+ with me, and I think that there is a german girl BiddyG? who uasualy posts on the daily!

It seems that the european programs are a little different from the US ones. Do you have points on most fruits, for example apples? Just curious...

See you around!

Hi there,
No Anja Germany is not far. Where are you in Germany?
Sandi, I lived outside of Ipswich when I was very young for 3 years. I moved over from Florida and was shocked that the sun didnot shine all the time. I would go outside looking for it. LOL!!! Where in England? One of my close friend is from England, she is so funny. She teaches English here, when I cannot remember an English word I ask her what it is. She says I only teach, I don't have to know!!! being in Holland so long, you lose little peices of your own language.
Hanna, My girlfriend is a painter form Sweden. Gun is so very talented. I use the US method, but I have a Dutch WW book and no most fresh fruits are zero points or 1 point for 200 gr.
They also are only allowed to use the low end of the point range. Potatoes boiled are 2 points for as much as you want to eat. All very confusing.
Thanks for answering my message. Always great to know some people who are just a little bit closer.

Hi Tinatulips,

I'm also from Germany - Hamburg to be exact. Only 3 1/2 hours drive to Emmen in Holland where I sometimes go for a day just to look at shops and visit my favorite supermarket Albert Hijn (spelling probably wrong).

Hi Tinatulips,

I live now in Karlsruhe, but grew up in the Muenster/Osnabrueck area, which is only half an hour to Holland. I used to go shopping in Enschede and Oldenzaal (not sure about the spelling).

Heja, hello german buddy!! My boyfriend grew up in Kiel, we went there for the Kieler Woche in June, and also visited the Lion King in Hamburg!!!

I am so happy to hear from everyone. I am thinking of joining the WW here, but it is so different from the states.
Maybe we can all keep in touch on this board. I sometimes struggel, because in Holland they have very few fat free or sugar free foods. How is it in Sweden and Germany??

Hi Euro Buddies,
How is everyone enjoying the beautiful summer? Goodness spring was great too.
Welcome Bee, No Berlin is not that close, but to be honest most of Germany is not close. LOL!!
I am an American living in Holland. I have lived here most of my life. So I am not a native Dutch person.
I bought the at home program from the UK a few years ago, but I found that I could not stay below the 22 or was it 24 points. I bought the Dutch points book online, so that does help.
How is everyone doing on the program?

Hi Tinatulips,

Compared to the US we don't have many fat free and sugar free foods. I really wish we had fat free mayonnaise, ff cheese, ff sour cream - the list is endless. I have quite a lot of US cookbooks and it really bothers me that I can not try all recipes simply because I can not get certain ingredients or have to look for substitutes. However, we are getting more and more low fat products so we are slowly getting there... Just a few more decades and we'll have the US variety... just kidding. Whenever I go to Holland I buy a calorie reduced chocolate bar with caramel. I can't remember the brand name now but it is usually available at the cash register and really good.

Hi Anja - did you like Lion King?

I'm REALLY enjoying this summer, this heat is so rare for Germany and I'm not a "winter person" so it does not bother me at all.

To all of you a great weekend!

Heja,
That is so true about the FF. They only have low fat mayonaise here, the cheese is 10% less fat, other wise it taste awful. I have found one store that sometimes has low fat sour cream.
But I believe it is better to eat the regular versions just less of it. So when I have a recipe I use the 1/2 fat products if I can get them. I am enjoying the wonderful weather.
Do you get banked points in Germany??? I know that my target points is 24, but how do ever stay below that amount?

Heja

Hi Tinatulips,

We can bank 2 points a day but quite honestly, I hardly ever get around to that as I usually use all my points. I also found that I don't lose weight as well if I "earn" pounds with exercise and use those on top of the 22 pounds I have.

Take care,

Heja

Hee, hee, can you see how concerned I am with my weight? I used "pounds" instead of "points" in my post...

Heja,
Do you really have to be very strick to stay under 22 points?
I find on the days that I only eat 22 or 24 points, I have eaten very samll meals and no snacks.
I hope you are still enjoying the wonderful summer.

Tina,

For me it is sometimes difficult to stick to 22 points and I can't imagine how difficult it must be if you only have 20 or 18 points to use. I just try to bulk up my meals with lots of vegetables and I eat a lot of potatoes for 2 points. It's the little extras and snacks that cost me a lot of points.

Yes, I'm still enjoying the wonderful summer although I have to admit last night was SO HOT that I could hardly sleep. That is a first for Northern Germany!

Take care,

Heja

How are the rest of the Euro gang doing?

Heja,
You are right, it is the extras that cost us a lot of points. But I find not having many light or Fat free product cost me a lot of points, if I want mayonaise 1/2 fat it still 2 points for a smidge. Olive oil for cooking, ect.

Another one in Germany....

Hi everyone. I rarely post, but I decided to chime in here. My name is Sally and I, like Heja, live in Hamburg. I'm American. I'm doing WW from home with the help of the CD. I started at the end of January and I have lost 20 kilos. I am 162.5 cm and weigh 64. My goal was 65, but now I'd like to see how far I can go and then linger between 60 and 65.

Heja, I don't go to meetings, but from what I know about the program, we can bank up to FOUR points a day.... I can eat 18 points, but if I can manage it or have something big coming up, I'll eat 14 a day to save. We can also earn up to 12 activity points a week. I rarely earn many of those... :(

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in here. Maybe I'll try to check back more regularly. I've got a big trip planned to the States in September though, so I am not sure how much longer I'll be around til then.

Take care,
Sally

Is it too late to join in? I'm in Germany too. I live near Mainz and I'm doing the program at home. Next we got to England for a week and I am going to do my best not to go overboard. But I have to have my fish and chips!

Thanks Tina,

Yeah well like I said I live near Mainz and have been doing WW for a little bit and I have to say I am happy with the results so far, in about 5 weeks I've lost 6kg. I do have to admit though the first time I stood on a scale here and I saw the 100 mark I was happy, until I remembered that it's kilos here and not pounds :( I want to loose around 30kg. Actually I will loose it! I did go to McDonald's (it was with a friend of my sons and they were both really wanting it.) I was good, I got a salad and then ate 3 nuggets and was very proud of myself until I got home and added my points I forgot and ordered the highest point dressing, Itailian 9pts!!!

Hi that is about what I need to lose. I always go to McD's when I am a little or a lot homesick.
Under the 100 kilo is a goal and congradulations on accomplishing it. I was thrilled. I only weighed over the 100 one month, but I was so very pleased when I was down to 99.

How is everyone doing??? Heja,Dora, Lisa-Marie, Bee, Sally, Anja, Sandi and Hanna?

Why don't we all post on a daily thread. Bizz ususally starts it.

Okay went overboard today. We went to my husbands grandmother's house and lets just say I was happy I saved points! She made everything, rinderbraten,
klosse, sauce the only thing I got to help with was the salad. We ate that, then ice cream and then later we had coffee, I was good with that, I ate the rest of the salad and only a half piece of cake (okay so I have eaten the other half since then.) To top everything off we are supposed to be flying to England on Tuesday so I have not bought a lot of food. DH and I were hungry and split a pizza and a salad. I kept well within my points but I feel like such a pig! I do want to point out he ate more pizza then I did (I'm trying to talk myself into the fact that makes it better.) Tomorrow I weigh in and I am afraid of what the scale is going to say. graemlins/sobbing.gif
