Hi:
Thought we could get a thread going on interesting food products/finds for those of us residing in the "True North Strong and Free". I'm frustrated in that some of the products mentioned by our American Buddies, I have not been able to find. Any ideas or information exchanged would be of great benefit to all. Let the Scavenger Hunt Begin!!!!

Hi Kath,
I couldn't agree with you more! And that is from someone who doesn't normally care for cold cereals. ( When I saw that few buddies had responded as yet, I thought I should get the ball rolling with the PC Raisin Bran, but you beat me to it.!!!!!!)
Karen :D
Karen have you tried the skinny chips yet? I buy them at Wal Mart, i cup for 1 point. I really like them. Hope you try them http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/stone/27/names/i/iris01.gif

I like the bbq skinny chips- and my sis says nacho are good too! smile.gif
I love the quaker crispy minis- especially cheddar and sour cream and onion.
I also enjoy the Yves Veggie Burgers and the Michealina and Lean Cuisine Pasta Bowls!
I have seen the Baked Doritos around, but the nutritional info made me think that they were still fairly high in pts:(
I wish I could find more low pts snacks!

I just found the Healthy Way Sprouted Grain Torilla's at Costco. They are the big size 8"-9" round. My slider works them out to be right on the line between 1 and 2 points.
Yves Veggie Ground round is another favorite with me. I cook up mushrooms and salsa and add a pkg of ground round and it is just great to have for tacos, soups, etc.

Hi to CordyC,
I remember trying a sample of that at Loblaws. It was very well chilled and quite nice. Think I'll go put that on the shopping list.
By the way, thanks to all the BCB for their fav's and keep them coming!!

SLIM COWS
Another tasty treat from Costco. They are Canada's answer to Skinny Cows. You get 10 vanilla and 10 chocolate ice cream sandwiches in the box and they are 3 points each. They work out to about 50 cents per ice cream treat too.

You have to try President's Choice 70% reduced fat breaded chicken cutlets (they're called "Crunchy Chicken Breasts"). Absolutely delicious - crunchy and spicy and lean, only 3 points and a very fair sized portion to boot. I have one with steamed broccoli and cauliflower (with 2 fat free cheese slices melted over the veggies) for a dinner that completely fills the plate and totals 5 points! smile.gif

Try this soda in the "diet coke cake" recipe....a can of pop with a no-name white cake mix...24 1 point cupcakes!! I've also used the diet lemonade with lemon cake mix....yummy!!!

Hi Glenda,
Thanks for the Info re: the cheesecakes. I haven't been to the Reid Dairy in Belleville for 12y. Does anybody out there in cyberspace know where their products can be found in Toronto?
Thanks,

Hi Buddies graemlins/wave.gif
Just wanted to tell you about a product I discovered last week shopping at Loblaws. They have a PC 50% Less Fat Roasted Vegetable Lasagna. Never seen it before, and only a fluke that I did find it!!!!
I thought the Lasagna was quite tasty. For 1/4 of a tray, it worked out to 6 points. (294 cal, 9.6g Fat, and 7.6g fibre). A fair sized serving as well. Lasagna made of roasted vegetables: zucchini, eggplant, red and yellow peppers and ricotta and mozzarella cheeses with tomato sauce. HUNGRY YET????
I love Lasagna, but recently it is one of the foods, like pizza, that I tend to avoid. This is a good alternative if you're not in a mind to make own low fat version.
Karen :D
P.S. to Glenda: Thanks so much for the Reid's dairy store location website. I see 2 loacations in east end of Toronto I'm going to check out re: cheesecakes.

Hi buddies, My favourite treat is my own home made "ice cream" sandwiches  . Between two graham wafers spread about 1 tbsp. of Ultra Low Fat Cool Whip. Pop two or four into a sandwich bag and freeze. If you put too many in one package they tend to get soft sooner. I make 6 or 8 at a time but if you have kids you better plan on more. My grandchildren love them too, and they are only 1 point each. graemlins/thumbup.gif

Good day!
I don't know if this is a Canadian treat or not, but my favorite low point breakfast is Silouette vanilla yogurt over 1 cup of strawberries or mixed berries. One serving=3 points
It's better than any berries and cream I've ever had! The yogurt is really nice in smoothies too!
Later!

Hi to all, but especially to CordyC
Was getting a bit tired of PC Diet Blueberry Soda, so poured approx. 1/2 cup Tropicana Orange Juice over ice, and topped up glass with the blueberry soda, very tasty and reminding me of punch. Some of you may want to try this !!
Karen
Thanks for all the great ideas - I got my shopping list out and will definately take a look at a few of the goodies. I'm also going to try the homemade ice cream sandwiches. YUM.
