View Full Version : NEW! 100 Day Hall Of Fame Countdown... Everyone Welcome!
Sunder

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie to Bootcamp, so hopefully I'm doing this right. I'm looking for like minded people to join me in committing to 100 days to being on program. The idea would then be for all of us, once making it 100 days (or to what I'm terming the "Hall of Fame") we could write a "speech" talking about our ups and downs of our journey. At the same time, keeping each other accountable for the 100 days.
If this generates enough interest, then perhaps, as a group, we could decide what is necessary to enter the HOF.
I'm open to any and all ideas. I just really want my own commercial (complete with the disclaimer "results not typical") with me showing off the 54 pound I lost...
Let me know what you all think!

Here's how the "HOF" works. Right now those of who join can become the Feb HOF Class. I started my commitment of 100 days on Oct. 27, and 100 days later will be Feb. 3rd. I've been so off and on with WW that I just needed something more than what I'm getting here I feel like I keep throwing my money away. So, for me, the committment started Monday... but it can be whenever you want to commit up until November 22nd. (We run out of days in Feb...) So START TODAY!

All right! Sounds like we got us a little group here!
You all may know each other pretty well, but perhaps some introductions are in order:
My name is mark and I live in Central Michigan near the capital in Lansing. I'm married and have two kids: Alana is 4 and Jacob is 21/2 months. I've had problems with my weight for as long as I can remember. I joined WW the first time in November of '99 and I've been off and on now for what seems like EVER! I'm almost 5'10" and I'm about 50 pounds heavier than I was in high school. I don't know why I haven't been able to transition into the idea that "WW is not a diet, it's a lifestyle" but my current stray away from program occured when I started eating some of the foods that made it into our house during my wife's recent pregnancy. Let's just say that I've got some sympthy weight AGAIN!
I've never been able to consistently log my food intake daily, and so one of the things I intend to do i make sure that "if I bite it, I write it.." and it is the focus for this 100 day challenge for me...
Today was my weigh in and I'm down 4.6 pounds from last week (YEAH!). I know that in about 4 more pounds, though, that a plateau is gonna hit, so my hope is you all can help me see through it.
I'm looking forward to our journey together, and when I get more time, I'll check out the conversations with the other rooms. This site is so cool!

Count me in Mark! Starting Today, my end date will be Feb 7!!!!! I too have a tough time journalling, but I've done very well the last 2 days!!!! (hey I take any success I can manage, no matter how small it may seem!!) :D
So how do we make sure we're doing this right? Are we going to check in here every day, week, what? I'm on my way to the Hall of Fame!!!

Hello all...
As for how much to post? I think you should be able to look to the group for as much support as you need. I'm busy trying to recruit others to join our little group by dropping hints in other topic areas. I've found that in the beginning, I'll probably post quite a bit, and for sure check in during weigh ins and when things get a little tough... For instance...
This weekend is the annual Michigan/Michigan State football game. :D I know that I'm going to WANT to counsume beverage in quantities that may alter my thinking, not to mention accelerate my appitite. As with all things, the idea here is moderation... but I don't plan on limiting myself. I do like the flex points system, as I can spend the extra tomorrow if I want to. Do any of you have any other suggestions to help me tomorrow?
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

I'm in as well, I think over the Holiday's coming up, I'll really need this added incentive!! so starting today, mine 100 days is also ending February 7th. Let's go!
Mark I would say if you know you'll get the munchies from having a few, then bring some OP snacks with you, counted out ahead of time, so that you know what the points are and are not tempted to go ahead and get the mini pizza or something. Sunflower seeds (in the shell) in those situations keep my hands and mouth busy smile.gif Good luck and let us know how you did!
TonyaP
10-31-2003, 07:16 AM
Mark, My only other suggestion would be to earn some AP's so you will have those points to spend also. Also try to plan as much as you can. Planning doesn't mean limiting. Just eat w/in your Points, including FP and AP and stay OP!! Oh and HAVE FUN!

Welcome new HOFers!
Thanks for the advice. I like the sunflower idea, as they helped me with my nicotine addiction and are not far from my side. I'll do what I can to keep those things in check. I have to remain accountable for my actions. It's what's gotten me into trouble in the past. I think too that to be accountable to the group begins to change my thought processes. I really don't want to have to fall off again.

Hi Mark graemlins/wave.gif Great idea! Count me in graemlins/bcbsalute.gif My end day will be Feb. 7, 2004 graemlins/thumbup.gif As for the game tomorrow, what worked for me in a similar situation last weekend was that I filled up on Zero Point Soup before leaving so I wouldn't be hungry and be able to make more 'controlled' food choices. I also took food with me that I could enjoy and know what my points were. "Plan ahead", my personal mantra  So far, so good, I joined WW on 10/03/03 and as of today's weigh in, I've lost 9 big ones :D

Hi Mark and Ladies!
I'm with you in the Hall of Fame on Feb 7! Sounds like a good idea to keep up the incentive and make OP a real way of life.
Mark, I too have a real problem with keeping up my journaling. Ugh! It's going to be a main goal of mine too from now on. I think you'll do fine tomorrow at the game. I'm rooting for Michigan (used to live in Ann Arbor)! ;) But I know you'll be fine cuz you'll have all of us to answer to if you don't do fine! I like the preplanned snack plan cuz you gotta have snacks, eat beforehand, and really work out hard in the morning to keep up that energy level and have those sore muscles to remind you of your goals when your 'thinking starts getting fuzzy'. Lol!

Ladies...
Not so good on my weekend. The tailgate wasn't the problem... it was the game. I don't know what came over me... but I lost count of my points when I hit 40. Too depressing...
Good news is I was back OP on sunday. 25 points on the nose. I guess you just need to get back on that horse when you fall off... right? I suppose I musta cashed in my 35 points, so I'm just going to halfta earn any extra points through some exercise.
Yea, UM beat us up pretty bad. I've got tix to next week's game at OSU. We still have a chance at the Big 10 title. We'll see.
Would someone please direct me the page where I can find all the definitions to the codes used in here? I'm still new to this.
Thanks!
Mark
PS H2O and points on track today as well. Taco Bell Dinner for only 8 points. I love this plan!

Aww, Mark, what are you whining about? :D I have to go to the Notre Dame game this weekend--at least your team scored  ND has been stinking up the football season this year...actually we are going to meet up with a group of old friends. We try to get together at least once a year, and have been to ND games in the past--some really great ones too! Only one couple are ND grads, the rest of us are from all over--FL, MO, CT, so it's great to see them all. So, I'm in sympathy and trying to plan for tailgaiting and dinner out on Friday evening. Have you tried posting to the What's on your Plate today thread on the Daily? It makes me PLAN ahead so I can list what my points total. Might be a good way to stay on target (pun intended!)

Wanna talk about planning???
How about this? I will not only do thirty minutes on my elliptical on Thanksgiving... but I will also do a High Rep/Low Weight resistance training on the bowflex I invested in years ago (which is now collecting dust in my basement...)
How do I know this? Well, I've just completed a calendar of exercise that has what I'm going to do from today until the end of the month. Prior to the end of this month, I'll do December, then January, Feburary..... and so on... and so on... (think energizer bunny). In addition, I've varied the exercising I'm doing on a daily basis so that I don't get into that "routine" thing. I might even invest in some "hip/hop dancing" exercise videos for the heck of it.
Sure... some of you may be graemlins/sleep.gif ing... But I've never, repeat NEVER planned my exercise before. I'm invigorated now, sure... but my hope is that this "plan" will keep me focused.

Hi All! I'm going to do this too. My start date is Nov. 3rd and it will end on Feb. 10th. This is going to be really tough, cause I am going to my parents for Thanksgiving, they are coming here for Christmas and also my best friend and her husband are coming here for New Years. All that spells OVEREATING!!! So this will give me the incentive to stay OP. It's so great to have BCB to support me in this cause I don't get it otherwise.

Mark, I think your exercise plan is a terrific tool to use to motivate yourself! I have done something similar, if I don't plan for it, I won't do it. As for the 'codes' are you referring to LOL, DH, DD, DS, etc.? If you are, their is no 'decoder' I know of, I've either figured them out or had to ask. One I haven't gotten yet is 'NSV', can anyone help me on that one? Thanks! graemlins/wave.gif Patty

TJ: NSV is a Non-Scale Victory. in other words a compliement or clothes fitting better or anything that is a victory that isn't shown by the Numbers on the Scale!
ShadyLadyOnAQuest
11-04-2003, 10:19 AM
Lol! I just recently got the "NSV" question answered for me elsewhere. It was driving me CRAZY! I knew it was something good though. Mark, all the D's before abbreviations stand for 'dear' like DH=dear husband, etc parts of the family, then there's MIL=mother in law, etc. smile.gif
Wow, I totally forgot Thanksgiving was sneaking up on us soon! I'll be doing the dinner this year so I will plan some healthy choices in there along with the family favs. I do mashed potatoes way healthy with no butter and its yummy, nobody turned their nose up at it last time anyway.
That exercise plan thing sounds like a good idea. I'm going to steal that idea and try it too. I need to throw in some different things to my regimen and this might help me. I have never planned that before either. Me? Plan? Lol! WW is teaching me how to little by little. One of these days I might even become organized! tongue.gif

LADIES!
WI today. 1.0 pounds GAINED :(
Buttcha know what? I've exercised every day. I'm sore. I feel good. 4 sticks of butter doesn't bother me that much because it's probably muscle.
I failed to mention one very crucial element to the planning of the exercise:
Do something different EVERY day. Why? The body, being a great MACHINE, will begin to "recognize" the same type of exercise over time and become more efficient at completing that exercise. The calories you burned the first time you did the exercise will be more than the 8th time you do it (and so on...). By changing the exercise, you will burn more calories over time. Enough, hopefully, to burn through those plateaus I hate so much.
Going to OSU tomorrow for the Michigan State/OSU weekend in Columbus. I will be OP the entire weekend.

Very good advice Mark. My only issue with that, personaly, is that I go to Curves and so do the same work out 3 - 4 days a week. I do however start on a different machine each time. I also go to belly dancing class once a week, and that intensity and what not will change in January as I am moving up to the intermediate class! graemlins/crazy.gif YEAH!!!!!

Well I'm at Day 8 and things are going well!!! I just labled some days in my Planner so I can keep track. I am also journalling in my new planner, but I think I am going to switch some things around, especially on my desk, so it is not in the way, but still easily accessible.
This weekend will be my first 100 Day OP challenge. We are having a birthday party for my DS at my parents house. They are doing WW too, but I am not sure if they are as committed as I am, so will have to be careful. As of last night, my mom didn't know what she was making for lunch. I know there will cake and ice cream there, so I think I will only have a tiny bit of either, or none at all depending on what is for lunch. Well wish me luck. I'll try to post tomorrow, but I normally don't hit the board during the weekends!

I'm mortified, discouraged and frustrated that I have already failed at this attempt. The Notre Dame weekend was a disaster--planning was out the window as dinner plans changed and changed due to late flights (met 6 other couples in Chicago) and other complications. No excuses, just irritation with my own failings. If I start today, I'm in for Feb 18, but I have to say, I'm REALLY nervous now. I was just reading in another thread about having faith in yourself--I seems to be lacking that right now. :(

Like... how bad am I?
Big thanks to TJ's mom for getting my attention. I've been off plan for a while, but recommitted my efforts on Thursday, November 20th.. That makes my new HOF date Feb 26th.
I've been really busy with the fall musical (South Pacific) which opened on Thursday. Our director was ill for almost two weeks, and I put in over 100 hours on the play from the beginning of October. It was really hard... and I found comfort (once again) in food. Why can't I stop this negative behavior?
I still had enough coupons left and weighed in last week. I had only gained back two of the four pound loss... But it's two steps in the wrong direction. Believe it or not I'm forcing myself to weigh in the friday after thanksgiving, to keep my self honest. I'll deal with however that comes out.
I'm sorry to have left you all, but I'm glad to be back. I'm in it for the long haul.

Hey!
WI on friday, and no lost but NO GAIN! I went way over on Saturday though, but I logged the 47 points I ate... Leftovers.
It was difficult logging all that I ate, but I forced myself to do it, just to get an idea of how many I had that day... It felt like balancing your check book after writing a ton of checks and not knowing how much over your balance you went.
SO then I got on the Eliptical and went twenty minutes.
All is good. WI on Thursday... I'll keep you posted.
