View Full Version : Countdown to Goal! Super-Charged Support Thread.

Since those last 10 lbs. can often be the most difficult, I thought I would start this topic for those of you who are getting close and could use some super-charged support.

I am a Lifetime member who lost 65.8 lbs. 6 years ago and kept it off. Then I became pregnant with twins and during my pregancy was put on hospitalized bedrest for 6 weeks on a 3500 calorie diet (to put weight on the babies because the doctors knew they would be coming early). Unfortunately the weight stuck to me and after delivering Alec and 3 lbs. 5 oz. and Amanda at 2 lbs. 15 oz. I had 48.8 pounds to lose!

Fast forward a year and I am now within reach of my goal weight, but have been at a plateau since March.

So here are the stats and I hope there are others out there like me who would like some super-charged support:
5/23 161.6
Pounds to Goal/Goal Weight: 6.6/155

Wow, 123 lbs! You are my hero. I think you are exactly on track, just keep on doing what you've been doing. I don't think you necessarily will have a harder time. My problem has been a lack of focus, I totally own that and know what I need to do to be successful, which is exactly what you've been doing for 123 lbs.

If you haven't received it already WW has a great little booklet called "Breaking Through" which provides some great tips to deal with plateaus should you face one on this home stretch.

I think uping your cardio a bit can help if you are feeling like the weight loss is sluggish. Patience, of course is a good skill, and trying remember to enjoy this very special time even if things slow down, it will come off eventually.

Keep me posted on your progress!

This is a great idea for a thread. I'm 6 pounds from my WW goal and I find my biggest challenge is impatience. I want to get there soooo bad. I've never made it all the way to goal before. I know this time that I will, but I want it NOW! :D I am finding that being this close has really helped me with my motivation to stay OP. Or maybe it's this board. I just found this recently. I wish I had it all along, but what ever it is I'm more focused than ever. We'll all get there if we stay OP so let's pull together and get it done!

Hi everyone! I'd love to join you. I just made my WW goal last Tuesday. Now I need to knuckle down and really fine-tune my program to get to my personal goal of 135. I have 12.6# to go. My losses have been very slow the last few months and increasingly erratic (down 2# one week, up 2# the next). I'm sure it will take me many months to get there. I hope to do it by September but I may be working on it well into 2004! We'll see. smile.gif

Hi Sandy:
Thanks so much for starting this! I am getting close to being back at goal too, only it has been a long 9 years (and two kids) since I've been there. Now I am closing in--8.5 lbs to go! I am soooo motivated to do this!

Hi all!

I'm so excited about the response to this thread! I am truly inspired by the weight-loss fire power -- many of you have already lost the equivalent of an entire person! Somehow that makes losing that last little bit, not quite so daunting to me.

Joanne: Sounds like you and I are about at the same place -- I have 6 lbs to go to reach my WW goal of 155. How long did it take you to get "here" from 252?

Jessica: Hang in there! I'd rather maintain than gain! You are so close to your goal -- I bet you look awesome -- did you have to replace your whole wardrobe or are you making do untiil you get to goal?

Annie: Welcome! You are smart to "re-enlist" before you had to deal with a big weight loss problem. Those last few pounds are equally hard on all of us though -- I'm so glad you are here!

Katb: As our resident "Queen of Weight Loss" at 126 lbs., do you have any advice for the rest of us?

Well I w/i tomorrow, wish me luck! I discovered "flavoured water" this week -- 0 calories, sweetened with Splenda -- a great way to get that water in and feel like you are getting a treat. I'm a diet-coke-aholic so I'm glad to find an alternative with no sodium and caffeine.

Please be sure to check in and let us all know how your w/i's went this week. I'd also like to encourage you to share any learnings or tricks for the "Last 10 lbs (-ish) End Game." We can all be an excellent resource and support for one another.

I've gone through a lot of clothes this past year. I started in 16s and XL and now I wear 8s and M. :D I'm taking a HUGE pile of stuff to a consignment shop on Thursday. I'm trying to hold off on any more purchases until I reach my personal goal. I doubt I'll wear anything smaller than an 8 when I'm done but better safe than sorry. smile.gif

Sandy, I re-joined WW in Jan 2002 at 228 and have been mostly OP since then for the "bulk" of my weight. My top weight of 252 was in October 1999. I had to rejoin a couple times before I got it right. smile.gif I had a habit of losing 25 or 30 pounds or more then slipping back into bad habits after a vacation or holiday. Each time I rejoined I had gained back less, but this time I knew I couldn't let that happen again. I almost lost it last October after a long vacation, but got back on track after gaining "only" 7 pounds. I've been 100 pct OP since the beginning of this year but things are slowing down as I get closer to goal,
but you all know that since that's why we're here. tongue.gif My WI is Friday. I really hope to get my 90 pound star this week. Wish me luck.

Hi all! I had my w/i today and lost 4 lbs! Please note that last week I gained 2.2 lbs due to TOM. One thing that I think helped was I Wendie-ized my points (alternating high and low and super high and low points days -- i assume most of you already are familiar with the Wendie plan, but let me know if you aren't). So now I have 2.6 to go to get to my WW goal wt. I'm pretty excited. I'm just now getting back into all of my skinniest pre-pregnancy clothes. After giving birth to the twins I refused to re-buy a wardrobe my post-pregnancy weight so for most of this year I've been mixing and matching about 6 items (I'm sure the people in my office are positively sick of looking at them -- I know I am!)

Jessica: Size 8 is awesome -- you skinny-minny you! Good luck with consigning your clothes, hopefully you'll bring in enough to provide the seed money for your new wardrobe.

Joanne: I totally relate to your lose 25 lbs. then getting tripped up routine. I first joined WW in 1982 and have rejoined so many times I've lost count. 6 years ago was finally the time where I "got it" and made it to goal and kept it off. My highest recorded wt. was 220.8 (I'm sure it was higher, I just wouldn't get on the scale!). I'm so impressed you learned from the past to not let a vacation become the reason/excuse not to get back on the program. Good for you! Good luck tomorrow!'

Thanks from me too about starting this thread! Last week I was .8 away from wwg and this week I am 1.8 away from it! How frustrating!!!!
The one thing that I have noticed though..is that I can wear a smaller pant size! Size 8's haven't been on this body in some time. So, I guess that's a victory!
But still, I want to feel the adrenalin rush when I step up to the scale and voila...GOAL!

WOW wwkath! It's sooo wonderful what you have done! I am sooo impressed!

To all of you waiting..just like me, to reach our goals, I look forward to sharing and caring!
Hugs

Hi Fawn,

Thanks for joining us. Sounds like you are so close you can taste it (no pun intended, this IS after all a WW suppport site). Hang in there it WILL come off! Also I wonder if your going down a size whether you've gained a little muscle weight, have you been working out more than usual lately?

Hi Sandy
I have exercised just the same as I always do..Maybe it was the popcorn?! I had more popcorn during the week than I usually do.
Nah I don't know what caused it but I am feeling a little less stressed lately about it. I am sure that by staying op it will come off THEN I can set my sites to my personal goal (which is 5 more past wwg)
Thanks sooo much for your response! It means a lot!

Hi Sandy-- graemlins/wave.gif
I am soooo close to goal and it is a daily struggle for me... I have increased my exercise routine and WATCH my points religiously... I have been losing < > .4# then will gain < > .4#.. It is really getting discouraging.. but I WILL keep at it because I am going to get to goal and stay there... I was a WW lifetime member and stopped going to meetings--my first mistake... Hope everyone has success... Sharon

Hi All!
I had a 1 pound loss this week sooo I am now back to .8 away from wwg! I am really hoping to make goal next Monday!
I have a huge hurdle as I am going to the cape for the weekend...so although I do have control over what I eat, you never know what's out there. My plan is to bring a small cooler to keep in my room filled with ww bars, lite bread, peanutbutter and cut up veggies. my sister's has been following the ww plan (although not a formal member) so being that she'll be there too, we'll share!
So until then...

Hi all!

I've had a good week so far. I made the 1 pt = 2 cups taco soup and that is helping alot. I'm leaving for Chicago tomorrow and have already looked up a ww meeting location near my hotel. I think I'm also going to follow Fawn's lead and be sure to pack some extra food. I find the tuna in the foil pouches very helpful.

Joanne: So does that mean you got your 90# ribbon? That is awesome! Congratulations! You have come such a long way! Now just 2.8 lbs from your goal -- this is the fun part of the journey, we all have to remember to relish it!

Fawn: Love your emergency travel pack plan, I'm going to Chicago tomorrow for a conference and I think I wil follow your lead and bring as much as I can, at least for two meals each day. I'm thinking of tuna in the foil pouches, yogurt (frozen so it'll last), carrots, pre-popped and measured popcorn, fruit. Fawn, you are doing so fabulous -- only .8 to go! Fantastic! As I said to Joanne, this is the fun part of our journey, we all have to remember to relish it!

Sharon: Hi and thanks for joining us. I know exactly how you feel because I played with the same 2 lbs. between 162 and 160 all of March, April and much of May. I decided to reevaluate what I was doing, and for me, my "toying" was due to a lack of focus -- I was doing what I needed to "-ish." Now I'm back to doing the program the way I did it in the early days, and am having a bit more success. Good luck and let us know how your are doing!

Hi Sandy, Yes I did get my 90 pound star!!
It made me very happy, but that big loss also put me so much closer to the 95 pound star! I'm still super motivated. :D I don't know why I haven't been struggling this year, but I'll take it! Maybe it really is a lifestyle change that I've actually made! It almost seems easy. tongue.gif

Hi Sandy
First..thanks for starting this thread as I have really been enjoying it! And 2nd, I figure that I have come too far to let a weekend away ruin it. I think I'll pick up some more tuna in fil..they are great aren't they! AND what's the taco soup recipe? I think I have heard of it..but not sure where. i know that I'd love it

Joanne, your stats are great! I am sending you out good vibes for a "speedy goalday" or just that your day arrives in good time

Jessica, small is good cuz..it adds up! specially when you're going down...

Sharon..you will find success real soon just keep on keeping on ( an old saying from the 70's)

I DID IT!!!! I made my WW GOAL today!! I'm still going to stick around here while I get to my personal goal(s). I think it's going to be a moving target. First Personal Goal is to reach the 100 pounds lost mark. Only 3.2 away from that. Then I'll have to re-think it. I've never weighed this little so I don't know where I'll end. Can't wait to find out! Thanks everyone for all your support for the last bit to WWG!

but you know what? I am really not that upset..I have done great, I look and feel wonderful (or as wonderful as I can with the rainy season we have here in New England!) So hey..I'll get there!

I missed my WI last week due to vacation so I won't WI again till Saturday. According to my scale I'm the same, but there are still a few more days to go. It was a pretty impressive feat for me to visit my family for a week and not gain any weight. My sister was happy too since she didn't gain either. Used to be a visit was a total pigout, now I worked really hard at staying OP. It's hard to estimate for some homemade goodies but I think I did OK. I even had a small piece of a cheesesteak instead of a whole large one. Funny it didn't taste as good as I remembered. :D It's amazing that I didn't gain from a swelled head odear.gif since all my family was just gushing over me since they hadn't seen me for a year. LOL! That felt WAY better than any of the food would have tasted.

How's everyone doing? Anyone still there? I was down .4 this week for a total of 98 pounds. Only 2 pounds to my first PG after WWG! And only 3 more weeks till I'm Lifetime! I'm really stoked about that. In all the many times I started WW I never even got close to goal let alone Lifetime. When I first started I thought the top of my range was unrealistic, but here I am 4+ pounds under it!
