Tuesday I reached a new target 22 pts I know the scale flucuates daily heck with me hourly and I know it shouldn't define who I am (that was part of Tuesdays topic) anyway long story short I hopped on it anyway and I'm up I have until Tuesday but here's my question I just moved to this target and was wondering is it normal for it to go up when you reach a new target? it's only 1.5 up but I find it weird in the beggining I was getting only 2 more pts then I am now. I used to before never eat my AP unless I was working out and earning more then 4 a day now I work out just to get the two extra so I won't starve. I feel hungry and even though it's 2 extra pts it's making me mad cause now I'm using the "dangling carrot" (AP) where as before if I only earned very little I wouldn't use them and now here I am doing it just to make up for the 2 pts I no longer get. I know it's normal like I said for the scale to go up hourly in my case. But How can I make this easier on me using just 22 pts NO AP unless it's over 4 like I used to? I know it's going to take awhile for me not to miss the 2 extra pts But still Does anyone know what I mean?

Why don't you want to eat your APs? The program is designed for you to do so. Most people's weight fluctuates by a few pounds from day to day (and even at different points in the day). If you need to eat the APs to stay full, by all means, eat them. You don't want to get to goal eating so little that you can't maintain unless you continue to eat so little.

I don't eat them cause to me they signify a dangling carrot as in I get rewarded for doing something that I should be doing anyway. Is that odd? Any who I do eat them if their over 4 a day but since getting at 22 I now just earn the two to make up for the two that I no longer have. Forgot also to mention I've gone back to winning points and was going to ask Sue (my leader) but felt embarassed that I was am scared) That's why I went back to winning points in the long run not sure if it's me or pschological but I did flex from November til Feb and I didn't lose much point something here point something there up down up down etc and if they were there I was going to eat them. I played with the point somethings forever until I decided to go back to winning in Mid Feb.

Just something for you to think about....Your body NEEDS the extra fuel if you are working out. Not eating your AP when you're exercising could throw your body starvation mode so that you stop losing or even gain weight. I do a lot of running and don't worry about using my AP. If I am hungry, I figure I need them and have eaten 10 or more AP in a day and still lost weight with no problem. Don't consider the extra food a "carrot" or reward...consider it fuel for a body that is working hard.

Good luck to you.

Carianne,

I think that Ann is right on the mark. If your exercising and not giving your body extra fuel, your throwing yourself into a state of starvation and your body is holding hard to those calories!
You need to feed your body. If your doing it by feeding your body healthy and nourishing foods than your not doing anything wrong. This "dangling carrot" philosophy is obviously not helping you, because you said you've gained.

Second thing. STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF HOURLY. It's pointless to do that. First of all, your weight will fluctuate throughout the day. Second, it's not doing anything for your morale when you weigh yourself at 7am and than at 5 in the afternoon your noticing a pound or two and feeling down because of it. You need to get that scale out of your house if you can't help yourself.

I agree with what everyone is saying about eating your ap points.......but I personally have the same outlook as you do. I just can't help it either. I don't feel like I should reward myself for exercising. The way I have compensated though, is I eat more of my flex points, when I really didn't use them too often before, unless I was going out or something like that.

You also said that you went back to winning points. If this point loss thing is really getting to you, why don't you just stay at your previous points, and continue not counting your AP, and see where it goes. This whole plan is flexible, and it just might work for you. If you continue not to lose for a few weeks, then you know you need to change something. But if you have been steadily losing on the higher amount of points, then I would say to stick with them until your body tells you its not working anymore. I stayed with my higher points for 10 lbs longer than I was supposed to, only because I didn't realized I had lost them. And I lost steadily throughout.

Just hang in there, that is what is most important!!

I would have to aggree with those who say eat your activity points if you are hungry. I run for most of my exercise and couldn't survive if I didn't eat the extra points. I also eat some of my flex points every week too. I have consistently lost since January.
