I'd also like to hear from women who are 5 foot 4 inches. My personal goal weight is 123 but I've been fluctuating between 125 and 127 for a very long time. Wondering what others have for goal weights and how they are doing.

I'm 5'2" and look at my stats! I haven't been in the 120's since before child birth (12 yrs ago)!! I am 39 now, and BIG change in metabolism, so we'll see if I can get there and keep it. I'm so much happier in the 130's than when I was at my highest, but want to go lower because of my lack of height!!

I'm 5'4" and my leader made my WWG 131, my personal goal would be to stay between 125 and 130lbs. How are all of you losing weight, I went on WW over 18mo ago and lost 4-5 lbs by the 2nd week, but haven't lose anymore since 2001, yes 2001. I've stayed at 138 all this time and following program faithfully eating 18-20pts daily. I'm in WW@Work right now, my leader told me to eat at the high end of my points 18-23pt, I gained 2lbs that week, so...I started on the WP last week, this is my 5th day, I'm sure hoping this moves the scale one way or the other. With me not losing anymore, it makes me wonder if I'm even doing the program right. Any suggestions?

NashvilleCat (I'm not 5'4" but I think this advice is relevant no matter what height you are) - Are you exercising at all? Sometimes that is all it takes to kick-start your body's metabolism. Even if you are just walking a few minutes a day, that will help. Try taking a couple flights of stairs instead of an elevator, or if you are feeling up to it, rent an exercise tape or DVD from the library and try it out. And experiment with activity points, I find I lose best if I eat about 2/3 of my APs the day I earn them, but that is just me.

Hope that helps!

I do walk on a treadmill 3x week at least, I walk until I burn 300 calories or drop dead.
The only thing I can really see a pattern in is, the little calculator I got from WW@Home counts everything in half points up to a whole point, which would make you eat less food. I've been using it instead of the slider since I went on WP. I did get angry at times and would eat too low for my points and I would lose, but when I ate back at 18-20pts, I'd gain it back. I joined WW@Work and my leader said 'eat at the high end', I did and gained 2lbs, now I've got to get those 2lbs off. I'm even wondering if 'me' 'my body' needs less calories to run on. If the WP doesn't work for me after 2wks, I'm going to try lowering my points say, 17-19pts a day, I know that goes against everything WW teaches, but I've got to experiment to see what works for 'me'. Any suggestions would help!

Nashville Cat make sure you are drinking all of your water everyday. It helps wash all the salt out of your system so your not retaining water. Another thing is make sure you journal write every bite down that you eat. Sometimes the little samples we take add up without us realizing it. I also noticed I lose weight when I eat at my high end of the points but not my AP. Don't give up! You just have to play around alittle to see whats going on. I give you alot of credit for sticking with it this long if you haven't been losing so don't quit now! I'm sure your leader can help. Make sure you are figuring your points right too and counting enough for whatever you eat. Good Luck keep us posted.

I am 5'4" and my PC is 130! I think that I will look nice at that weight and be a decent dress size. I am also very curvy and anythink less 130 would make me look out of proportion. I am considering getting a breast reduction once I hit my goal. (That might bring me to 125# ;) )

Well, day 7 on WP, I'm eating way more than I have ever eaten in my life. Today I go to WI and I'll see if my leader thinks I should stay on the WP. I wouldn't mind staying with WP, if I could just lose a pound to let me know, something is working for me, or that I'm doing the plan right, but I don't know how long I can keep watching the scales go up. If I could get my body to lose on 'more' points, that would be a dream come true. I have limited my 'bread/carb' foods to up to (4) no more a day. I'm just trying to hang in there and keep an upper lip! :( Thanks for all your suggestions!

I am 5'4" but i am 49 years old. I did weight around 127-130 until I got to be 38-40 years old. Then it seems like every year after I have gained at least 2 lbs. (Although I did put down cigarettes in April 1998) I am up to 165 lbs. and can not get off that number for the life of me.

I just found WW and I feel that I have a home.

So, the weight does increase as you get older. I never had a weight problem until i got close to 40.

I'm 5'4" and I know I will NEVER be the size I used to be! I weighed 103 AFTER my kids were born. If I weighed that now I would look anorexic! Now, if I even weighed 115 or 120 I would be too thin.

I'm a golden 61 years and my now personal goal is about 135. The WW goal is 145. The closer I get to any goal the harder it is to lose graemlins/sobbing.gif

This past two weeks has been rough..I have to buckle down and get my journal up to snuff again. graemlins/bcbkick.gif

Several years ago when I joined WW, I was told that I should weigh around 132. My personal goal is 125 (been there - done that)...but right now I am right around 136-139. I know I am not at my goal because I am not consistent with EXERCISE!

I know if I exercise 6 days a week I can lose weight even if I eat 28-32 points a day instead of the usual 18-23.

I wish I could hire a trainer to come over here and give me a good swift kick in the behind and remind me how I felt and looked when I was taking better care of myself!

Good Luck with your WW journey!

Hey everyone-
This is a very interesting thread!
My pg is 115 and Im 5'3". But Nashville, i would stop looking at the scale and see how your body is changing. Also look at how you are eating those points- are you eating "bad" points?? Im sure you must be frustrated!!! Try adding weight training to your work out , muscle burns a lot of calories!!
I wish you luck and know that youll get there!!

Well it's been another week. My leader told me to go back to eating 18-20pts, and I did. I weighed Sat and I'm back to 137.5lbs, odear.gif )! I guess I'm just not moving enough to eat more points than that, but that's okay with me. I'm rejoining WW@Work to get the 'NEW' program, but I'm still going to eat 18-20pts, that's more food for me than if I 'quit' WW. I'm just playing by 'ear' with my body, I just hope for 2-3 wks I could lose 1lb each week just to let me know I'm doing the program right. I'm still walking in the afternoon, so I'm ok with all of it, right now. Thanks for all your help in my journey! ;)

I'm nowhere near 5'4", but thought I'd add my 2 cents anyway -- hope that's okay! smile.gif Nashville, since you're so close to goal weight, it's going to be more difficult to lose. I don't think you should reduce your food intake -- that can actually cause your body to hold on to every calorie you give it, since it's not sure when the next meal is coming! I think the only way you're going to see more results is to mix up your exercise -- when you do the same exercise every time, the body will often plateau. Try doing lots of different activities each week: jogging (there's a great program called Couch to 5K that will have you running 3 miles in 9 weeks: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml ), walking, elliptical machine, step class, swimming, bicycling, weight training, etc. I bet if you change up your exercise routine you'll see results -- good luck!

I am in the same boat as PC. At 5'2 I am currently at 125. My GW with WW was 119 (though I really wanted to get down to 117 or so. I made lifetime in Oct. 2000 but have found it difficult to maintain at 119, much easier at 125. When I hit 128 last week, I came back to BCB. Am trying to get back to goal and stay there! But, at 41, like PC am finding it hard. Am going to the gym 5 AM's a week before work and trying hard to stay OP. Only time will tell if I can stay around in the "teens" or not. But, if I were 5'4 I would be really happy at 123, so I say great job!

I'm 5'4 and I weigh 134. I have been happy with that weight for a year and just decided with the new program to go to my secret goal of 125.

To those who are stuck, I have a few questions that can effect loss. Are you on any kind of medication? Including birth control? Hormones, steroids, and other medications greatly change the bodies ability to gain/lose weight.

Also, if you have been stuck for over 6 months I would take body measurements, including a BMI test at your local gym. Then work as hard as ever and see if in a month your measurements have changed. Muscle really does weigh more than fat.

I'm almost 37 years old, am 5'4" and I have been at or under my goal weight of 128 for over 2 years after losing 30lbs leftover job/preg weight gain. 128 is pretty much what I weighed in high school and college but the difference is that now I think I look pretty good instead of fat! With age hopefully comes wisdom, eh?

I typically range from 125-128 (126.6 today) and to get to 122-124 means I am typically training hard 6 times per week for a race of some sort and by that I mean, running, cycling and swimming for 5-7 hours per week at a heart rate of 75%-92% for most of those hours. Not that 123 is not attainable but I am typically completely focused on eating perfectly and training to do it and keep it there. I did get to 120 about 1 1/2 years ago only because I was really sick and hospitalized due to an ectopic preg. and it was pretty impossible to stay there.

From personal experience, I would encourage those of you who have been at this a while and are sticking to 20 points a day and not losing to bump up your points to 30-35 on heavy exercise days and get 4-5 hours of good hard exercise per week. Technically a point is worth 50 calories so if you are only eating 20 pts per day, that's 1000 calories and your body is going into preservation mode. I will say I tend to eat at least 40-45 points each day on maintenance (sometimes more!) because I work out so much. Everyone is different but it works for me. Change it up with exercise and change your points like the "Wendie" plan suggests to keep your body guessing. But whatever you do, don't give up! Everyday is a new day to treat your body with love and respect. I remind myself that eating healthy is for life. WW is just the method I choose to account for my eating healthy. Good luck!

I'm not 5'4", but I just thought I'd add something ...

I'm 5'7" and my pre-pregnancy weight was 128 pounds. According to WW, this is the absolute minimum weight for my height. When I was this weight, I was fit and slim, but defiinitely not too skinny. In fact, my weight in recent years was as low as 123 pounds when I was heavy-duty into weight lifting and running. Even then, I don't think I was too thin -- I have a small frame. I had a very healthy diet, appropriate amount of calories in my diet and was very muscular. (I do think any less than about 123 would have been too low.) I'm still active, but don't have the time to be as gungho as I was.

On the other end of the spectrum is my DH: He's about 5'9" and about 190 pounds. He definitely doesn't look 190 pounds! He's doing the program with me, but I don't think the weight guidelines are perfect for him. According to WW, the max he should weigh is 169, but a more ideal weight would be 162. My DH feels like he would like to lose a few pounds. He thinks 20, but that seems like too much to me. According to WW, he would still be over-weight. My husband is very literally "big boned" and naturally has a more muscular physique.
Maybe some of the perceived struggles with losing those last few pounds have to do with muscle mass (because it weighs more than fat) and/or the size of your frame?

It depends on your age. I am now 54 yo. At 26 I got pregnant at 126 lbs, gained 33 and lost in by breast feeding in a year. At 30 I got pregnant again at 128 gained 35 lbs and lost it by breast feeding in a year. I stayed in the mid 130's until mobility issues and surgeries got me up to 140. But in the past few years I went to 150 Yikes!....Last year I did WW and got back to the mid 130's and I would not go lower. We lose muscle as we age naturally. I would look gaunt at 125. I also am small boned. That also makes a difference, I don't think this question can receive a blanket answer. Also, for some reason as we age, the weight goes to the breast first. don't know why, forgot the reason, but it's true.

I'm 5'4'' and within about 5lbs of my 140lb goal. I'm also 47 years old- I'm curvy by nature and honestly don't think I'd look or feel my best in the 120's- that's assuming I could get that low and maintain it! I think it's a very individual thing, especially if you have been considerably overweight for decades, such as myself...My brain and self-esteem are still trying to catch up with a body that isn't over 200lbs anymore. Anyway, you are the only one who knows what is going to feel best for you!!!:)

5'4", 41 years old. My WWG is 145, my personal goal is 132.

I weighed 118 in High School, 125 when I came home from the hospital with my son. After my dad passed away I put on 40 pounds in 4 months I went to WW the first time. Then my goal was 132. Which I made lifetime on and found out 2 days later I was pregnant with my daughter.

Now 19 years later I started back to WW at 198 and plan to make it to 145 by Christmas.

My goal is 146, the top of the printed range for 5'4" - although I noticed just recently at ww.com that the range THERE is only 145! Oh well, 1 lb more to lose won't kill me! I'm at the top of the range due to my very thick frame.

Anyway, size - I'm still 17# away from goal at 163, but I fit very comfortably in size 12's - I have a whole closet full of size 10's that I should fit into at about 155#. I'll faint if I can fit into anything smaller than that EVER, but at 145# I guess I'll find out.

I'm 5'3.5" but according to WW I'm 5'4". I have been waffling between 126 and 129 since the beginning of May. I haven't been on true "maintenance" yet because I really wanted to get to 120.

What scares me is that even at 20 points/day, I haven't lost any weight and some weeks gained weight. I can honestly truly say that I have only gone off plan only 1 week (and then only by 10 points for the week) since I joined WW. I journal everything immediately after eating it, even if it is bites and licks. What will happen when I go on "maintenance" and add 4 points/day? I'm already exercising at intense level a minimum of 5 hours/week, as well as walking 5 miles a day.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I probably will not get lower than 126. But I don't know that I can maintain 126 either.

Or maybe 20 weeks is a reasonable time for a plateau? What do you think?

I eat 4 APs per day. Every week where I ate more than 4 APs I gained weight. I have experimented eating more (than the WW recommended) 4 APs, I've tried CW and Wendy Plans and I've tried eating more points at breakfast and fewer at dinner. Since I eat mostly Core type foods anyway, I tried Core (with and without counting daily points). Eating Core without counting daily points (20 per day) created the biggest weight gains (between 1.5 to 2.5 lbs per week) even though I only averaged 24 points/day.

That Core experiment reallly made me realize I may need to maintain at 20 points and won't be able to add in any extra points for maintenance. Has anyone else experienced this as they got within 5 pounds or so of goal?

I agree with those who have said age makes a difference. I'm 5'4 and my goal is 137...and I'm not too far from that. I am more concerned about losing weight for health issues as opposed to being able to wear a smaller size. I have also learned that the older one gets, the harder it is to lose weight as our metabolisms slow down. At least that has been my experience even tho I exerise on a regular basis. But, as already said, as we get older, it appears to be easier to come to terms with our bodies and the fact we aren't going to look like we did when we were inour 20's.

I'm 5'4 and 1/2 I think and I weigh 125.5 or so. I'll be out of my 20's in a month. Right now, I'm in the low end of my range and am pretty happy there. Unfortunately, most of the weight came off my top 1/2 including my arms/shoulders/etc... and not my hips. I am small framed with smallllll wrists. I do a lot of intense exercise(like a previous poster mentioned) as I train for events. I eat 30-33 pts a day(once you count all the zeros because I eat a lot of them). As I get older, if I need to, I might allow myself to go up 5-8lbs and still be in my range.

As we age we lose muscle naturally, so if we lose fat and get slimmer, we will appear different than if we lost that same fat in our 20's. That's why men age better IMO since they have more muscle on them naturally than women. I really don't think it's fair to compare a 54 yo to a 24 yo at the same height and same weight and same body type, 30 years has to account for some changes! Right?
And about clothing sizes, they are all different. And so are body types. If you carry your weight in your hips and butt-- a dress with a loose skirt will fit in a smaller size, since a dress size is the bust measurement first. I weighed 118 for my wedding. I wore a size 9-10. Never smaller. My waist was 29-30 even then my hips a 35-36. I'm still built like a boy. very straight. So with no hips or butt, I can't compare my self to you curvy gals out there no matter what we weigh.
But what cracks me up is when someone goes from a 16 to a 10 and says they have lost 6 dress sizes. Come on.......isn't that really just 3?

I found this thread to be very interesting. I am 5'4" and 41 years old. I weighed 180 pounds when I started WW back in Aug 2001.
I was on and off the program for quite some time as I was doing WW on my own. There wasn't any meetings in the town that I lived in. In March 2005 WW started meetings in the town that I live in. I haven't missed a meeting since that time. I made my WW goal of 130 pounds in June of 2005 and Lifetime in August. My personal goal was 120 pounds...and there were times that I thought I would never make that weight. But I stayed on the program and continued to go to the meetings, and also I read and post on BCB everyday. At my WW meeting last week, I made my personal goal. It feels absolutely fantastic. I have more self confidence now that I have had ever had in my whole life. I went from a size 16 to a size 4.

I'm 32, exactly 5' 3.5", currently weigh 218, and wear a size 18/20 (some 22's, depending on the garment). I've also had four children. In high school, I weighed anywhere between 114 to 120 -and LOVED the way I felt and looked! I do have to say, I loved being really thin! Before my first pregnancy, I weighed between 120 and 125. I also felt really good at that weight! With my first child, the day of delivery I weighed 187 pounds. I lost only about 27 pounds of that. With my second pregnancy, I weighed 190. My third I weighed 203. And, with my fourth, I weighed 225.

The very first time I joined WW was after the birth of my second child (1996 -exchange program with weekend option). I weighed 186 and lost 5 pounds my first week. However, my father had a heart attack before my second WI. He died a few weeks later, and, naturally, I didn't go back. I also became pregnant with my second child, shortly thereafter (2nd and 3rd children are 13 months apart :exercise2).

In September of 1999, I went back and started doing 1-2-3 Success. At my first WI, I weighed 189.8 and by late December was weighing 166. At that time, I was wearing a solid 14 and a snug 12. It felt wonderful! But, life just got busy, and I stopped going. However, I did maintain my loss. But, in September of 2000 - a year later - I had a tubal pregnancy. To make a long story short, I gained 38 pounds back. The weight gain put me back up to 204. I lost a bit here and there but nothing significant. I tried going back to WW so many times I've lost count -but sure have a library of books with every plan they've had since 1996 . And, since I've had baby #4, my weight is at the highest it's ever been. Which brings me to now....

My first goal is to get below 200! Many of my friends, and some female family members, tell me I'm ridiculous to think I could ever be 120/125 again. I have even had one trainer at a local gym tell me I'm expecting too much -what a vote of confidence, huh?!:ugh: Nonetheless, it is my goal to work towards weighing between 120/125 again! :workout:

I'm 5'4 and my personal goal was 135 lbs but after reading this post, maybe it should be a little lower. I just know I was 120 in high school and that was pretty skinny. Prior to having my daughter, I was about 140 or so and very comfortable at that size, so I thought maybe 135. We'll see as I get closer.

I believe you can do it. There is NO doubt in my mind that if you want to be at 120/125, you can get there. You've proven your ability to lose. Life has happened along the way. But you have a good history of losing, you can do it again. Then, you can keep it off.

Stay focused. Don't let hold of that goal. :bcbsalute

I'd also like to hear from women who are 5 foot 4 inches. My personal goal weight is 123 but I've been fluctuating between 125 and 127 for a very long time. Wondering what others have for goal weights and how they are doing.
Hi, Debbie --

I'm 5-4, and I've sent my personal goal at 122. I had a real setback this year, but I think that based on what I looked like and how my clothes fit at 133, 122 will be about right for me.

With me, exercise is an absolute must; there's no getting around it.

I'll post more about the setback and lack of exercise in the Lifetime Journey thread -- as soon as I get back from my lunchtime walk!

Back in a bit . . . :walking:
