Hilde,

The beauty of journaling is that when you do have a bad day you can look back and know why. I know my leader suggests that besides writing down what you ate, write down how you were feeling. I haven't done this myself, but if you find that you are eating more than you should because of stress or certain situations you might be able to find a way to deal with those things when they happen again.

But good for you for coming back here and posting about your experiences!

Hilde, My Dear...

Pick it up and move it on.... today is a better day and we, well most of us, myself excluded, learn from past mistakes... I gained 2.5 pounds in the last two weeks. Talk about a bad 14 days!!! odear.gif ! Good grief, why wasn't I born when men were judged wealthy that had fat wives!!!???LoL ;)

Jump on again and try again... I fail alot but I am always trying. And who knows maybe just maybe somewhere something will make the click go off in my head...

Hope today is a better/best day for you.

Hilde, I have many bad days since I started WW's almost two years ago, but I have had many more good days and that is what I focus on, the good ones. The important part about having a bad day is to find out what went wrong and have a plan on how to do better the next time you are faced with a similar situation. In the end I have had far more good days, many better days, a few best days, and far less bad days and that has resulted in a net loss of 61 pounds, which is a gain for me. ;) Keep practicing and you may not hit perfect but you will see improvements and that will result in losses at the scale. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Good morning Hilde,

I am sorry you had a bad day. Here are your graemlins/bcbkick.gif for going over points. And a graemlins/thumbup.gif for journaling.

You said
But will do better tomorrow. It may help if you define that a little bit more.

When setting goals keep in mind three things. They should be: Specific, Positive and Measureable.

For example:

Specific: saying "I will do better" doesn't really identify exactly what you are going to do differently. Saying "I will eat 4 servings of fruits and veggies" or "I will post to BCB when I am stressed" is much more specific.

Positive: Goals should always be postive. Focus on what TO do, rather than on what NOT to do. "I am not going to binge" tells you what not to do, but it's doesn't really help with how to handle it.

Measureable: How are you going to know if you succeeded. "doing better" is really hard to define. At the end of the day I can look back and clearly see if I ate within my points or got 20 minutes of exercise. Then you can plan some type of non-food reward for yourself!! :D

I hope that helps, or at least gives you something to think about. Let us know how you are doing!

Dee...I can't begin to match your words of wisdom...but I can relate... Hilde.....listen to this woman...she knows just how to say what we need to hear.. People ask me how I do what I do raising a child again(and putting up with a husband for 37 yrs)LOL, and I always say I just try to look at the overall picture and the good always outweighs the bad!,no pun intended here!...and it's true the good days make it all worthwhile!...
