Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! For me this means an extra day off and the chance to get caught up on things at home. Yesterday I put up a baker's rack in the kitchen, put my appliances (which have mysteriously multiplied since I first went to WW) on the shelves and plugged them all in. Wow! I have counter space!
Today I want to go through all my clothes and toss or give away all the big ones. My house is just too small to have a single extra thing around. WI tonight.
Saturday I took the baby up the mountain to play in the snow at Big Bear lake. We have to travel a few hours and brave mountain roads to get to snow around here. You'll think this ironic, but I envy you snowbunnies more than I do Susan. We're not even wearing sweaters here. DGD loved the snow and laughed, giggled at the snowfight.
Have a great day, everyone. No guilt trips allowed!
Blessings,
Lynn

Good Morning Buddies,
It is wonderful here in Alabama, jacket weather only, been too cold for here. 20' below what it should be at night. If it is to be this cold might as well be in Iowa, Naw.... just blowing steam...
Not going to exercise class to day. I am going to WW at 10AM and then to Curves instead. Much milder on my clumsy but still sore body. Will begin the exercise class again on Wed.
The owner's of the condo we are in are coming for drinks tonight, and we will go out to dinner.(l glass of wine for me) The are a nice couple and she has lost 27 pounds on the LA diet, what is that? Well, I will for sure find out tonight, cause in my 'honeymoon' stage of WW, I like to talk health issues. Notice how I side stepped the four letter word. LoL
Well dear hearts, have a great day. OP of course, cause it makes ones moods so much better. Hmmmmmm, wonder why I wondered away, when it makes one feel so GOOOOOOOD....?
Catch you later when I come back from registering my weight on the truck weight in scale, ha ha 'ain't funny Magee', anyone remember that old radio show?
Enough pradle...

Good morning all of my F& S buddies...looks like a good day on tap for us..sun is shining and going up to 59..purrfect!!!, I say. Now, if I can just get awake enough to get started on some much needed chores..UGH!
Missing Susan this morning..all I can think about is that glorious sun in Hawaii, and all the beautiful things there..I wanna go back someday...I think I heard her sitting on my shoulder this morning reminding me that this a great day to stay OP....think I will take that advice....
Enjoyed the chat last night Kathy...where was everybuddy else??.....I too had a trip to the bank, etc. planned until DD called and said she didn't work today.(she works for a bank)...can't believe I didn't remember since school is out too....Senior moment I guess!
Lynn..I will gladly send you some cold, but don't have any snow to give....I like the snow too..we lived in Tacoma Wash for 4 years and one of the things I enjoyed was the weather there, if you wanted you only had to drive around 60 miles to play in the snow with only a sweatshirt on..the weather there was pretty mild most all year around..
Chari.....sorry you are still sore from the fall, can you find a hot tub somewhere?, that will help....I do love this weather we are having, at least it is nice during the day here, got to be a little warmer down there than it is here....My SIL is on the LA weight loss plan too and it has worked for her, but it isn't a lifetime change, only temporary if you don't stay on it..don't know too much about it, but I like WW better. She did notice that I had lost!!

Happy Monday buddies! We're in CT where it's colder than Virginia! We went to NH yesterday to have lunch with my dad and it was even colder there and a LOT more SNOW!! But it was great seeing him. He's doing amazingly well for an 87 year old recuperating from 3 broken ribs and a ruptured spleen just two months ago. He walks with a cane but no limp or anything. He just amazes me!! :D
We'll be driving back to VA tomorrow and then it's back to work on Wednesday. It's been a good visit though. My friend has just started weight watchers and has also quit smoking again so we have a lot in common! ;) You're not alone, Diana! She's doing much better this time! :D We're both getting ready to go on a cruise in March! That's incentive to lose some weight!!
Have a super day buddies. I've been trying to catch up on the posts from the past few days. Sad to hear that Dee is taking a break from us! Hope she comes back real soon. I miss her already! graemlins/ugh.gif

Hi Good Buddies,
First off, I want to thank everone who welcomed me back yesterday. I really appreciate it. DS has been at me to start posting again but I just didnt think I had anything that was worth listening to. You can only give so many weather reports. Ha Ha. But all kidding aside, thank you all very much.
Well Kap it is cold here too. I guess we are experiencing the cold around the world. Hope all goes well with your house.
Lynn, I have been seriously considering getting a bakers rack. I too have been getting a lot of new appliances lately. Everyone thinks we need them I guess in order to eat healthy.
For some reason kids always enjoy the snow. And people that don't have it always want it. Well, I am here to tell you that in Wisconsin we get plenty of it. So you are welcome to help yourself. Although we are a little sparse this year.
Chari, have a wondersful time at your dinner tonight. And please let us all know what the LA diet is. I would be interested to know. And yes, unfortunately I do remember that radio show.
Have a great OP day everybuddie. Will see you tomorrow.
Hugs
Greenbrier

We are having a warming trend here today. It is a warm 34 degrees right now. We did go for an outside walk and I enjoyed being able to actually breath as I walked. I am determined to be OP today. I am just sick of not doing what I know I should do. Spring is coming and this goose is getting fat!
I am planning on being back to school tomorrow. We still have snow in the forecast. We have so many back mountain roads that it is difficult to clear them for the bus routes. YOu would not believe the roads that some of the kids have to travel to get to school.
DD keeps bleeping in on the IM to talk. I am afraid I am going to send the wrong message either here or there.... I think I better just quit. graemlins/crazy.gif

Good Morning Ladies, graemlins/wave.gif
I had to go to the Doctor's this am for my regular yearly visit. He took me off Premarin said it was causing breast cancer. So I have to go to the Health Food Store and buy this other stuff. He however did recommend I start taking Celebrex, and gave me some samples. So I will do what he advises. tongue.gif Yes, that was a great game yesterday. GO BUCS Unfortunately I do not like the Raiders. So I will be going for the Bucs.
Kathy - That was a great game wasn't it? I also had a lot of errands to do, but alas banks are closed. Pulled into one when I left the Doc's and sat there like a fool until I realized it was closed. Duh !!!!
Lynn I am a native California and we use to go to Palomar Mountain for the snow. Weird isn't it? I have been to Big Bear before, its great. But now, I don't want any part of snow.
Chari - Glad to hear your feeling better after the fall. I do not know what the LA Diet is, but I have seen it advertised on TV. It is not a change in your eating habits, I believe it is prepared food but not sure. Yes unfortunately I do remember that show "ain't funny Magee." Have a great OP day. smile.gif
Hiya Norma how is it going? Have a great OP day.
How's Meg today? I would not like to be where you are. CT and all that part of the country is way too cold for me. Glad your DD is doing well. People that have to brave cold weather, such as NH always seem to fair well.
Hiya Karena graemlins/wave.gif Have a great OP day.
Greenbrier - In answer to your questions. Yes I got the Taco Pie recipe off of the Recipe forum. I also put Rotel in my cheese broccoli/cauliflower, carrot soup. Went to another football party and took the above soup. And needless to say it was all gone by the end of the evening. Personally I love it.
Well I best get off this puter, expecting DSO home shortly. He only is working for half a day. I am on track and want to stay there. I will exercise, journal and drink plenty of water.
Everyone take care,

Good morning buddies! graemlins/wave.gif
Had a fairly busy weekend. Saturday we spent a good amount of time at Home Depot Expo picking out stuff to re-do two of the bathrooms in the house. In our bathroom we're replacing flooring the shower (a have to due to water damage) and the toilet. In the dd's bathroom they are having everything replaced except the cabinets. We're replacing their tub with a Jacuzzi tub, tiling the wall, replacing the sinks and countertop, replacing the floor with tile and replacing the toilet.
Sunday we went to Berkeley just to poke around. I was probably within spitting distance of Sharon, lol.
I'm at work today. As dh says "the corporate peons don't get MLK day off". ;)

Hi ladies! Well, we are finally having some snow here in southern Alberta. It's been nice not having to shovel, etc, but wow, is it ever dry! This morning I went out to pick up a print I had framed and managed to lock my keys in the Jeep. Duuuuuh! Anyway, I called my husband and said maybe I would buy him lunch if he brought over a spare key. But, how smart is he? He had actually hidden a spare key under the bumper. Now I won't say it was pleasant hunting for it - the Jeep is filthy and wet - but how nice to find it. I bought the Jeep from him last year when my daughter took over my Mazda and I guess he'd put the key there years ago. Anyway, what a nice surprise!
Motivation - I mentioned the other day, I'm doing poorly, acting like I expect to lose weight just because I want to and not changing anything. Like Dr. Phil says "How's that working for you so far?". Well it's working poorly (another Duuuuh moment) so last night after talking to Diana in the chat room (thanks so much Diana- you are inspiring!), I found a number of recipes I'm keen to try, and went to the mall this am. Looking at spring clothes is really motivating to me. There are the cute capris, the little t-shirts and so on. When you're really short like I am, it is limiting enough without adding extra poundage.
Lynn, I'm off work this week and one of my goals is to clear out some of the junk we've accumulated. The basement closet is on my list for this afternoon. Doesn't it feel good to give things away?
Chari, glad to hear you're so motivated. I started back swimming and joined a pilates class. My Curves membership is now gathering dust - so many women love it, but I didn't enjoy the music and it wasn't a good fit for me.
Luanne, we have bathroom renos on our list too. I'm not looking forward to it, but it's gotta be done sometime. We have a hot tub outside we use all year round (last night I was out at midnight in the fog and cold - it was wonderful!), but a Jacuzzi would be great in the house.
Did any of you see the Golden Globes last night? They are the only award show I watch, I love seeing the fashions and actually saw a few of the movies nominated. Most of the women looked quite elegant, but what was with Lara Flynn Boyle's pseudo ballet outfit????? Too weird. I wanted Kathy Bates to win for About Schmidt, she was wonderful. For those of you who haven't seen that movie, I highly recommend it.
LJ, the print I had framed was of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia doors and windows. From the old heritage homes. We bought it 2 years ago and never had it done. It looks great.
Well, the closets are calling my name, - time to get moving. Sheila

Hi Buddettes! Just a quickie hello from work. DH and I made our weekend trip to Atlanta and back. Disappointed that we did not see snow!! graemlins/sobbing.gif However, the weather was perfect for travel, cold and sunny! :D The earlier forecast had said wind of 20 mph and snow flurries. But they had neither one.
The whole trip was good, the traffic was light and weather clear, the visit with my sis and family and my one brother was good, and I even got to visit with my long time friend (since we were 14!) on Sat. afternoon! That was nice, and we also got to see her daughter that I hadn't seen in years and meet her husband and 2 children.
My friend had re-done her main bathroom and it was fantastic! A gorgeous jacuzzi tub and beautiful gold fixtures, etc. Windows at the tub level lets her look out over their 10 wooded acres while taking her leisurely bath. They have always done something new to their home in between our visits. Sigh........
My sis gave me beautiful baby yarn to make baby blankets with for my b.d. which was in Dec. For Christmas, she and her DH gave us a computer program for bird watchers plus took us to the Christian book store that was having a fantastic sale and had DH and me pick out a bunch of stuff. And of course they had to take us out to eat each day.
DH had today off work, but I was one of the "lower class" who had to work! :( He is at home catching up on the football games he taped this weekend. He needs some down time after the trip. He does all the driving. And also we will have DGS tonight. Sure wish I had tonight off but we did miss the little guy.
I will be posting my picture of DH (the one I'm drawing, it's not quite done but almost) on the Picture Trail hopefully tonight.
Everybuddy, have a great afternoon and evening! Lorraine graemlins/wave.gif

Helllllooo! I can't believe it is after 5 and I am just now getting to the Daily. I cleaned house this morning and had a meeting here this afternoon. My sorority is putting together a cookbook and I am the chairman! Yikes. This is alot of work, but I love cookbooks so I am really having fun. Ann and family are coming for dinner so I will have to make this quick.
Kathy, It's hard to keep all the days the PO is closed straight, isn't it? I didn't have those errands on my list, so I did alright. DH paid the bills last night and took them to the PO. I'm glad you are happy with the outcome of the games. DH didn't move all day! :D
Lynn, Hope you aren't working too hard there at home. It is amazing how many appliances we need to get the right mix, huh? I'm glad you and DGD had fun in the snow. I hate being cold and always have, so snow does not entice me. I don't mind looking out at it, tho! We have had a record amount here, I think.
Chari, Enjoy your dinner. I think LA weight loss is their food. I went one time, but never got past how much it was going to cost! I'll be anxious to hear how your eating plans compare to each other.
Norma, While looking for something besides football on TV last night I watched a really dumb show called High School Reunion. There were all these 20 something kids on an island in Hawaii. Didn't care for the show, but the scenery made me wistful. Loved Hawaii and know Susan is having a great time. Isn't it great when someone notices your weight loss? I am at the point where nearly everyone has seen me so no new compliments. graemlins/sobbing.gif
Meg, Glad to hear you are having a great vacation. Your Dad is pretty amazing! How great! Will look forward to you being home tomorrow.
Karena, I am so glad you are back posting. I loved it when Jeanette encouraged us to let you have it! I mean what are sisters for, anyway? tongue.gif We aren't really very particular what you write as long as you keep us uptodate on your doings.
LJ, Do you have just so many snow days you can use at your school? We have a few built in and then they start tacking them on to the end of the year. The kids hate that, but what they really hate is that our town has a reputation of being the only school that is in session when there is a big snow fall. We have no rural area to speak of and they never deem it too treacherous for the buses. The kids are encouraged to take the bus vs driving their cars on bad days, but no letting them out of school. Poor babies.
Katy, What did your doctor put you on? I am still taking my hormones, but it is a very low dosage. I have done fine with it so far.
Luanne, We have done major remodeling here. I think I will move the next time! Of course, we did the kitchen and it was a nightmare. 6 weeks of no kitchen was horrible. My coffee pot was on the vanity in our little half bath! I could go on and on, but I won't. I'll just wish you all the best with yours!
Sheila, sounds like you need to join us in the POP challenge. Several of us were feeling a little out of step (okay, in my case, alot out of step!). I watched some of the awards show and I just about died when I saw Lara Flynn Boyle. What was she thinking? I thought she looked like a pink flamingo! Just hideous. And if Jennifer Anniston gets any thinner she will blow away! Are the closets done?
Lorraine, Okay, I have to ask...is your Christmas tree still up? ;) I think of you whenever I see the lights still on at some houses. Glad you had a good visit with your family and friends. I am anxious to see your finished picture so be sure to let us know.
OOPs dinner guests have arrived!

http://www.castlemountains.com/postcards/images///jann17f.jpg Goodness, it's 3 pm! Later than that for most of you! I had a strange day - decided to keep working on the stained glass wall hanging I am doing, sat down at the machine and ran out of thread! I have hundreds of spools of thread but not the particular one needed for this technique - what can I say? I am picky! So I packedup the dog, my water and a snack and took the ferry to the main island. There is aquilt shop close by - they were closed! The next town has a fabric shop, no embroidery thread in black! Fortunately the owner told me of another place I didn't know about and was able to get my thread there. So having just got home, so much for my big sewing day! I worked on this hanging late last night and was really into it - it is a dragonfly with a stained glass background - so was kind of annoyed when I realized I didn't have the thread. Had a nice chat with Sheilalast night in chat - I guess we were too late to catch Norma and Kathy. I find 5 pm here is a nuisance for chat as Sunday is the only full day DH and I have together so I usually plan a nice dinner rather than the catch-up meals we have during the week. I made chinesefood (low fat), DH had fried rice and I had veggie stirfry and we both had chicken that I had marinated on lowfat onion and teriyaki dressing. It was good and there's another meal leftover for tomorrow. Next on the agenda is to bring in some wood for the stove and get on the treadmill. 7 degreesC here (45 F) and no snow - God's country! The big smoke-out is going well - I thought about buying a pack while I was out today - that's all that happened, just a thought! Day 20 and counting! Wish I could say staying OP was as easy! Am still trying to get my LT status!
Kathy, I have to tell you how much your cheerful posts brighten my day. Thanks buddy! You are always so positive!
Lynn, your baker's rack sounds like what I need. I have a small kitchen - is this rack long and narrow? I'm really not sure what a baker's rack is - I am challenged, I guess.
Char, glad you are getting over your soreness from the fall. Ouch!
Meg, your dad sounds amazing - we should be so lucky at 87!
Karena, welcome back - we missed you, buddy!
Katy, your remark about the Premarin isodd - as I understand it, the danger is only with unopposed estrogen ie. no progesterone to balance it out. Celebrex is a wonderful med - I went on it once and it did wonders - then the govt. delisted it and my plan won't cover it - very expensive up here!
Luanne, I am jealous! We have been trying to budget for a bathroom reno for 5 years - so far no dice.
Sheila, enjoyed our chat, buddy, but I don't know what I said to inspire you. I feel rather uninspired these days, but you are welcome anyway! :D
Hi to Norma,LJ,Lorraine, Carla and anyone else lurking here (Hi Dee, buddy - miss you!) Catch you all tomorrow! graemlins/wave.gif

OMG, I guess I'm playing little red caboose tonight. I tried to get online all day today, but both bosses were in today and breathing down my neck. So I couldn't really do that.
Went to a neighborhood party Saturday night and brough the Salsa Cheesecake recipe from here. It was very good and everyone liked it. Had more than enough since the party was small. Katy, I won't be trying the warmed tortillas again, tho. The corn tortillas got so hard, we could hardly chew them! We got a good laugh out of that one! They all wanted to know if this was the WW food I'd been eating! LOL!
I did get some nice compliments on myself, however. The first thing out of one of the neighbor's mouth was asking me if I had lost more weight? Now, I know this is a conversation starter, buddies. But one of the women had been on WW and asked me the same question. That made me feel good, since as Carla put it, any compliments are few and far between now. But it still did boost my spirits and made me remember how good it feels to have someone notice that you've lost weight (and kept it off for the most part)!! I'm not doing too well however on losing those pounds I put back on over Christmas. :( Like Sheila, I think they should just drop off because I want them to and I think about them. That's not working too good for me either, Sheila.
I used my new grill tonight (not GF). Mine is a Black & Decker Health Zone, with removable grates for cleaning. I had one of my famous Portabello Mushroom Sandwiches with a thick slice of onion and a wedge of LF Laughing Cow cheese. Yummmmm. It was wonderful, and all for only 2 pts! If you haven't tried one, you should try it; they are very good.
Well, I'm off buddies to watch John Edwards. I forgot about him and he's almost over with!!
Toodles....
