Karen !!!
So sorry to hear of your loss. No one ever knows why these things happen, and most times it just makes no sense and seems so unfair. Your friend and his wife, had very special friends in both you and your husband, and you can look back on the special times you shared together. Here's wishing you "mega-strength", and support during this trying time.

I'm so sorry, Karen. He was way to young for that to happen! I'll keep you and his family in my prayers. They've been through so much already.

Hello buddies...
I am posting this note so you will know why I won't be on the boards for the next few days.
My DH and I moved here to Oklahoma from California 7 years ago, and our closest and dearest friends, Pam and Mike, were our first friends in Oklahoma. We are best friends, Mike and my DH are like brothers.
Mike's dad passed away about a month ago, and Mike has been dealing with grief and other family issues since that time. I am so sad to report that, this morning, Mike suffered a fatal, massive heart attack. He had not been feeling well for a couple of days. His wife Pam went to work this morning, and told him she would come back at lunch time. She decided at work that when she went back she would take him to the doctor no matter what he said. When she returned 3 hours later, she found him on the bathroom floor... he was already gone.
Mike was 54, his wife Pam is 48. They have an adult son, James, and James' wife Amy.
I am distraught with grief... these are our dearest friends, they have watched my children grow up, they were so thrilled when my DMIL decided to move here as they had already become friends with her on her many visits here over the years.... just an amazing, inspiring, delightful, loving couple.
My DH is in West Virginia, and I have never felt further away from him than I do now. I have talked to him several times today - Praise the Lord for his cochlear implant... just 15 months ago we could not speak on the phone at all, and I'm so thankful that I could talk to him and personally give him this tragic news. He was due to come home next week on Thursday - he has changed his travel and will be home tomorrow. I can't wait to see him and tell him what a treasure he is, how much I love and adore him, he is the biggest Blessing in my life.
I'm sorry to pour this all out. I have spent the day with Pam, and the evening on the phone with our Bible Study class, informing all our friends of this tragedy. I am going to go take a shower now and try to sleep a bit before morning.
Thank you for being my buddies, I love you all.

Oh Karen, I don't even know what to say. This is a heartbreaking loss, I know. Sometimes we can even be closer to friends than we are to family members and it seems like you shared that kind of closeness with Mike. My heart and prayers go out to you and to Mike's family. What a blessing he's with our Father in heaven . . .
Much love,
Jane

I cannot express what your prayers and thoughts mean to me.. thank you all for your warm and loving responses.
I had been on the boards and read the responses yesterday, and when I was with Pam I was able to share with her that she had people from all around the globe praying for her and thinking of her. She was deeply touched.
It's been a difficult 2 days... but my DH made it here safely and I've been clinging to him the whole time. I'm so glad he's here, and I don't know how I'm going to be able to put him back on the plane on Monday morning. He is at breakfast now with a couple of guys from our Bible Study class, they sure needed to be together today.
The viewing/visitation will be tonight... that's going to be so tough for all of us. Tomorrow is the service, at our church. One of my dear friends is going to sing "I Can Only Imagine", a beautiful song.
Thank you again for your kind words... your prayers are so appreciated.
I Can Only Imagine - by Mercy Me:
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
{Chorus}:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine
