Goodmorning buddies graemlins/wave.gif
no luck at WI last night, maintained, sometimes I wonder though, how the hell doesn't something show when you've really put so much extra into your week  At least the tape measure was extremely friendly, and you can't have everything :D DD and BF came over for tea last night, this was the longest I'd sen here for since she met him, as in the 6 weeks they've been together she slept home twice the first week in meeting him and virtually haven't seen her since. The main thing is though, after all the sh*t she's been through for the past few years, she's finally happy, and DH and I like this guy, so do my DS's.... He's a dinky-di aussie :D
Mardee... I love Sex and the City, is the final series now showing over there??????
Tina... WTG on riding to and from work graemlins/thumbup.gif with my old job I used to walk, was about a 50 min power walk, used to love it, but now I live too far to walk, plus you can't walk on a freeway!
Donna... only reason I could afford a tummy tuck, was I took a voluntary package from my old job, we realy could of used the money elsewhere, but I have never regretted in spending the 4 1/2 grand on my tum :D
Zaybe... when you said 'you into 3 skunks' did you mean no-hoper type people or actually skunks????? We got the no-hoper types down here, but not the smelly ones, actually the no-hoper types can often smell too.......lol
Must fly, gotta go get some petrol on the way to work, before the weekly price hike!!!

Good morning buddies graemlins/wave.gif
The scales are telling the awful truth today about how the stress got to me whilst the in-laws were here. I gained 4 pounds. At first it didn't seem like I had gained any but I stepped on the scales this morning and it was right in front of me, 164lbs. :( I'm mad at myself but not surprise at all. I have tried really hard today and have increased the water. Hopefully things will look better next week.
I think I have reached that point again today, the one when you suddenly feel a huge slap in the face that wakes you up. The last time I felt it was the day I decided to join WW. I know I can do it and I have to find a way to stop myself from stress-eating. The in-laws have left and I have no excuses anymore. I am still here and I'm still overweight :( I realised this when I felt the slap this morning after stepping onto the scales. I want to buy clothes without worrying about how I look in them. I still don't feel that I have reached that point, even after almost 30lbs gone. I really believe that the summer is the worst time for me to be feeling bad about myself, seeing all the skinny minis walking around in their tiny clothes and bathing suits(not that I'd particularly like to look like some of them do graemlins/ugh.gif ) but I'm sure you know what I mean.
So, on to another day at the reigns. I know I have lots of company on the wagon and lots of low point snacks so I can do it. I know I can.
Take care buddies, see you on the wagon

Good morning ya'll,
I think I'm back now. The DSL went out on Saturday after we had an additional Satellite receiver installed. On Saturday night, I spent and hour on the phone with the DSL tech support and they ccouldn't fix it. Sunday, the satellite instaler came back, and he couldn't fix it either. Monday afternoon, the phone company sent someone out and he was able to get it to work. He had no idea what he did. It worked for two hours and went out again. Tuesday, I took my DSL modem and router to work and had it checked out. I told our computer guy what had happened and he told me to go to Radio Shack and by a DSL filter for the new receiver. (we already have filters on the phone lines). I did this on my lunch hour Tuesday and DH met me at the house. After putting the filter on, we hooked everything back up and IT WORKS. So, if you have DSL and add anything electronic, get a filter. I was really irratated that the satellite installers and the phone company didn't know this was the problem. The new receiver has Teevo and the other two are just satellites. Maybe that is why it needs a filter too.
Not much else going on with me. Work is very busy because my boss is on vacation this week.
I hope to be able to get back on later today.
Everyone have a great day.
Cinna

Hi Buds,
Ok, here’s how it shapes up for school: I have to have Chemistry, Biology, and take the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course to even get on the waiting list for the 2 year nursing program, and right now, the wait is 2-3 years. That means it’ll probably be at least 4 years before I can even start the 2 year program, and I’ll be 52 when I graduate. But if I don’t start, I’ll never graduate so onward and upward. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning in a panic over the thought of having to work full time for benefits while I take classes full time for 2 years. It just seems like an awful lot to take on, especially since I’ll be over 50 by the time I start. I’m not sure about that whole thing, but I take my placement test Friday and I’ll have a better idea after that. I looked over the sample test, and I’m in BIG trouble! I don’t remember any of that stuff!!
Jane – Good luck pulling that wedding together! I’ll take notes on your trials and tribulations so I can learn from them. My DD#1 just commented tonight that she thinks her current BF is “the one”. Aaack!
Zaybe – I’m going to Vegas for the Girl Scouts’ National Technology Conference. Yup, they’re sending us to Sin City for that. Should be fun! And please don’t call yourself an ignoramus! I’ve only just started talking about school. (Nursing, by the way. Or maybe computer programming. I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up!)
Donna – See above for a school update. I’m excited!! (And scared and nervous and completely panic-stricken!)
Joni – Isn’t it funny how our tastes change? I don’t like a lot of the stuff that just used to make me drool! (Sorry for the mental picture that might bring on!)
Lindalou – I hope you got through the day with little or no disruption from the weather!!
Tinatulips – I hope the headache is gone and that you are feeling better.
Bethanne – I’ll just tell those instructors I’ll be at a conference and hope they don’t ask where!! Oh, and if you’re going to be ruled by videos, better the exercise kind than the “sit on your duff and get fat” kind!!
Janice – I wish my DD#2 would do what your DD did and dump her BF! But I won’t be that lucky. Can’t stand the kid!!
Hi Nancy, Mary, Becky, June, Trish, Cinna and everybuddie else! Time to get ready for work.

Morning,
I am feeling a whole lot better today! Took DH to the radialogist they won't start treatment for another 4 weeks. Good news is that he can drive himself back and forth and will more than likely have no symtoms.
I had to buy a new perfume. I always wear the same one and have done that for years, Well, Laura Biagotti took Soto Voce (silent whisper) out of the collection almost two years ago. I bought the last bottles and yesterday the last one would not give me a drop! So I bought her newest one Creations. I am smiling pretty darn good right now!!! LOL!
Bizz, Our offices are being moved the end of this months it will be a 20 a'30 minute walk from my house. I think I will walk it, when the weather is good and power walk back. Can't be all stinky for my clients.
Cinna, Glad the DSL is fixed. I find that they dont'always know what they are doing here either.
Mandy, come on, we are in this thing together.
Grace, follow your heart, if this is really what you want to do, who cares what age your are.
graemlins/wave.gif at everybody else for now. I will check in later.

Good Morning All graemlins/wave.gif ,
I am doing the happy dance again this morning. I can tell you that DS#2 is coming home this next week (I can't say when for security reasons-wouldn't they love to shoot a plane full of American soldiers out of the sky!), but I did manage to get an airfare special this morning to Colorado Springs for a third of the normal price :D So DH and I will be at Ft Carson to greet him when he comes home graemlins/crazy.gif They will have a big welcome home in the gym there.
Well, that is all for now, I am so excited I can't think.
Mary
Bethanne this means I will get to see you-I will have a day or so before he gets in! I will see you on Tues night if nothing else.
Grace GOOD FOR YOU GIRL! You know the old saying-in 4 years you will still be 50 whether you go to school or not, so GO FOR IT!

Good morning buddies,
I have a few minutes to check in.
We have cloudy and cooler weather, maybe some rain.
Dd and I are going to the movies tonight, we plan to see Spy Kids 3-D. I won't want it to get away. We have enjoyed this series.
Mandy, welcome back to the wagon. I know your "vacation" was tough. I think we all eventually learn - the hard way - that if hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution, but it's not easy. And even once we know it, it's not easy to stick to. If weight management were easy we wouldn't be here!
Cinna, I'm glad you got your dsl fixed.
Grace, with the chronic nurse shortage, you'd think there would be more capacity at nursing schools. A 2-year wait? WOW! But go for it, and don't worry about your age.
Tina, I hope you enjoy your new scent.
Bizz, I'm glad your dd has found a decent bf.
Everyone else, graemlins/wave.gif ! Maybe I will have time to check back later.
I hope everyone has a great OP day!

graemlins/wave.gif Good morning y'all! Work is at a crawl this morning, so I thought that I would post. Life is busy, as usual. Mike has to register for HS today, so big Mike is home and doing that ugly task. His fees were $200. Good Lord! What on earth do I pay such high school taxes for? Anyway, soccer tonight, Branden tonight and out to dinner with the boys later on. Things are plugging along and my allergies are driving me NUTS! I'm on my Allegra and, at least, able to breathe.
Bizz-I don't understand the scale thing, to this day. I'm sooooo happy for Laima! Tell her that I said so, please.
Mandy-Family just sucks, sometimes! They are the 1 bunch that you don't get to choose to be associated with. Dang it! Next week will be better! graemlins/bcbkick.gif
Cinna-Glad you got your DSL up and running again. I think that I'm gonna have to invest in it, too. Otherwise, I'll never get anything done on the computer.
Gracie-Deep breaths, girlfriend. You can do this! It's the same BCB attitude! OMOHOD at a time!
Tina-So glad that DH is feeling better! Stiff upper lip!
Mary-OHHHHHHHH MY! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOUR WHOLE FAMILY! Give him a hug from me and tell him Thank you! Branden has me kneeling on an exercise ball and doing bicep curls with 15 lb weights. It can be done! I also kneel on the ball and do pulldowns for triceps.
Nancy-Glad to see that the weather will be cooling off a bit for you! Enjoy the movie!
Ice-You are in my prayers.
Jane-Stay the course, gf!
Lindalou-Hope it cools down for you, babe!
Gram-Glad the strike has been averted for now. Will keep the prayers going.
Bethanne-The first time I tried to kneel on the exercise ball without holding on, Branden sang the circus song for me! He's such a smartie pants.
Prayers, love, hugs and **********{SV's}}}}}}} to all! Have a great OP day y'all!

Hi guys. Another nice day in the neighborhood. Nothing special planned for the day, just work and I'm going to try not to let that bother me (LOL).
Bethanne: Don't worry, the program is very safe. She doesn't recommend walking or moving around with the leg weights. I copied the following FAQ off the web site (www.strongwomen.com), which addresses your concern:
I have been lifting weights on this program for two years. I also walk two miles three times a week. I am 47, 5'2" and I use 12 or 15lb hand weights and about the same in leg weights. My question for you originally came from a dentist friend who regularly does bench presses and squats. He warned me that the exercises you have suggested might be putting more stress on my elbows, knees, and hips that those joints were intended to take. Have you done any research on this?
At Tufts University we have done strength training studies on frail older people up to age 100. We have not found that the strength training puts too much stress on the joints. In fact, we have found that strength training at a high intensity is healthy and safe for the joints. Follow these tips:
Progress slowly as you go through the program.
Always make sure that you can lift the weights in good form.
Keep breathing throughout the move.
If you are struggling, decrease the amount of weight that you are lifting to a weight that you can lift in good from for all repetitions.
You should never have any acute pain in the joint when you are lifting the weights.
If you follow these guidelines, you will be performing the program safely and effectively.
I'm really quite excited about starting this program and boy does that seem to be a wierd thing to be coming out of my mouth, I'm the original couch potato.
Bizz: I think the tape measure is a much better judge than the scale.
Mandy: This is a long journey we're on, and so far I have had several moments similar to yours. I think the important part is not giving up, but picking yourself up, and going on. Good for you, girlfriend.
Cinna: Let me know how you like Teevo. I don't think we can get that in Canada, but with DH's hours it would be perfect for us.
Grace: Wow, I really admire you for going back to school.
Tina: I love perfume, and I'm pretty picky about what I wear, nothing too overpowering. Bet you smell wonderful.
Mary: Great news about DS#2.
Nancy: Enjoy your movie.
Sal: Good to hear from you. Isn't it wonderful how we pay so much in escalating taxes, yet they still don't cover everything?
Well gotta go. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning,
Busy day at work. The girls have dance class all week, they are getting ready to dance at the fair next weekend. So that means two weeks of carting the girls around to and from classes. But it is so much fun for them to dance at the fair. And I love the fair, it starts tomorrow. We already have plans to go on Sunday, DH has a employee day there, although he won't be going. He is golfing in a tournament, so the girls and I plus a friend of mine are going. I am so anxious to see the Vitamix man. I just love to watch him in action :D DH wants me to get one this year so I don't have to spend hours with him everytime he is in town....lol We'll see. It is so much money!
Well not much else going on, but it is going to be a busy weekend. I have Friday off and DH, friends of mine are going to Harrahs hotel/casino in Council Bluffs on Friday afternoon. I got 2 free rooms and concert tickets to see Brad Paisley, Chris LeDoux, and Mark Wills. It will be terrific. And I am taking a little gambling money....I love the slots. On the way there were are stopping in Walnut, Iowa, which is the Antique mecca off Iowa, it is actually nicknamed, Antique City. I can't wait. It is only a couple hours from my house, but I have never been there.
Saturday a small town near us is having it's annual sweetcorn festival, which is always tons of fun. And then on Sunday the state fair. It is going to be a busy, busy weekend.
I better get to work, hope you all have the best day.

Morning Buddies. The weather is much better here today. Nice and cool and cloudy! :D My favorite kind of day! I think it will be warming up as the day goes on, but at least that searing yellow ball will be in hiding for most of it. I think I was a mole in a former life. The bad news is that an 8-year-old girl was struck by the lightning yesterday morning. I don't know if she survived or not -- apparently, she was camping in her backyard under a tree. So very sad.
Biz - I am SO GLAD to hear that your daughter has a new guy that you and DH approve of and that she is happy! After all she's been through, it's about time! I've been feeling quite thin the past few days so snuck a peek at the scale this morning - I hope that's not what it will say on Saturday, or I will be quite put out!
Mandy - well, you've identified the problem as stress eating (and you've sure had enough of that lately!) and you're back on the wagon. You go girl! It is hard to face sometimes -- I've lost over 50 pounds and I'm still fat! Drives me nuts, but I keep on trying!
Cinna - I had to put filters on my line when I got the DSL in the first place. Didn't you have to do that? Anyway, the only difference I noticed is that I can't hear people when they call on my regular phone anymore. There seems to be some white noise in the background and I have to keep telling people to speak up! I use my cell phone for most phone calls now, just so I can hear what people have to say.
Grace - Well, you've got a couple of years to figure out how you will juggle the job and school. Maybe there are some other courses that you can take in the meanwhile that will apply towards the credits you need for the nursing degree? Nurses make good money, but the job is a stressful one -- it would be worth working towards.
Tina - I hardly ever wear perfume any more. I love it, but am sensitive to so many kinds. Also, the bees love it, and I'm allergic to the bees! My favorite is Opium by Yves St. Laurent. Glad to hear that your husband's treatments won't have terrible side effects. That will be wonderful that he can get there and back himself.
Mary - oh what fun! Get the family all back together AND get to see Bethanne! I'm glad you've been shaken out of your boredom! ;)
Nancy - I haven't seen any of the SpyKids movies, but I'd love to, just to see Antonio! I love his eyes!
Sal - my goodness! $200 for fees? Glad you're getting a little rest at work anyway. My what a hectic life you lead.
Donna - good luck with the program. I think I know what the leg weights are for - not for aerobic exercise, but strength training, kind of like if you were in a gym using the leg lift or leg curl machines, no? I try not to let work bother me either, but it takes up so much of my day!
Becky - sounds like you have all sorts of fun coming up! This weekend is the Scandinavian Festival up in Junction City, about a 20 minute drive to the north of town. I'm walking in the Scandia Run on Saturday morning. 4.1 miles out in the beautiful farming country-side. It should be fun. I just found out that two of my friends are doing it also, so I'll have company. Then I'll have a look at the crafts, while avoiding the ableskeevers (sp?) and the funnel cakes! Next week starts the county fair, which I always dread because I live only five blocks from it. Traffic in the neighborhood gets nasty and then there is all the noise! I leave on the 14th for Massachusetts though, so I'll miss most of it!
Ice - sending many prayers your way.
Charlie - where did you go? Did Tony get the better of you?
Well, lots to do, so I'd best get to it!

Good Morning!
I woke up with the mega hungries this morning. . . I have high volume low point food today so hopefully it will satisfy my hunger! I always have my popcorn handy just in case!!! I don't rely on that too often though . . . Speaking of popcorn . . have any of you ever used a microwave popcorn bowl/popper? I posted on the general folder also but figure I'd ask here too. . .
It's very quiet around here. We just got a new manager and have hardly seen or heard from her??? I actually prefer that to an overbearing manager . . .
Bizz: I finally straighten out my confusion on the exercise challenge and finished posting my week 4. . . sorry for the delay! Be very happy about the friendly tape measure!!! congrats on the maintain!
Mandy: Don't be too mad at yourself. . .you've been under a lot of stress. Sounds like you are doing the right things . . .so don't give up!
Cinna: These new fangled high tech things can cause major headaches when they go down! Glad you got it straightened out.
Grace: Just remember the time will pass anyway! As far as the tests, things will come back to you, I think you will be surprised!
Tina: At least your DH will have a bit of a breather prior to treatments. Glad to "see" you smiling!!!
Mary: How exciting that you son gets to come home! Will he be home to stay?
Nancy: I want to see Spy Kids too! They are such fun movies! You'll have to let us know!
Sal: Hope your allergies get some relief. It is no fun to be plugged up. I'm doing zyrtec which seems to help me more than allegria.
Donna: I have definite couch potato tendencies, but I am getting addicted to this excercise thing!!! I would have never guessed!!!
Becky: Oh go ahead! Splurge and get the vitamix. It is expensive, but you won't regret it. And once you have one, you will never want another kind of blender! I have had mine for 4 years and I still use it all the time! I can't praise it enough! If you like smoothies, this is your machine!!! I figured the amount I saved in buying smoothies and blended coffee drinks payed off my vitamix in no time (not to mention the savings in calories of what you put in your drinks!)
Linda: Wow you guys have had quite the weather lately. What a bummer about that poor girl getting hit. You have to wonder why she was outside in that kind of weather?
Well Fellow Fabeeeez . . . have a great day! DRINK DRINK DRINK (water that is!!!)

Joni, thanks for your reply, I want a VitaMix so bad, and everyone that has one says they are by far worth the money. Glad to hear that you still use yours after having it for 4 years. That is my problem that It will be just collecting dust after the novelty works off. So glad to hear that it won't be.
Also I have a micro popcorn popper and I love it. It is so easy to use and it was inexpensive. The only thing that you have to buy are those cardboard things that go in the bottom of mine, and I reuse them over and over so the expense is very little. I couldn't tell you the brand I have though....maybe Presto Pop or something like that.

Hi Buddies,
I'm having a horrible day (you know how it is when everything hits the fan at once - ex, kids, job, car, the works!) so I just popped in for a boost. (I am happy to tell you I remain OP despite being in the middle of chaos and crisis.) The support I get from people I've never even met just makes me want to burst into tears (happy ones)! Thanks for being there, and thanks for the positive comments about school. It has made a huge difference in my day. Love you all!!!

Happy Wednesday Buddies,
Another hot and muggy day. At least the girls have a full day of camp today, so I’ll let the counselors take them outside!
Lunch at the Japanese Buffet was cancelled yesterday—too many flood warnings for my comfort. The highways have been flooding like mad all week. We’ve rescheduled for sometime next week.
I spent 45 minutes on the treadmill this morning. I programmed it for a cardio workout at level 3. It told me that I had walked 2.5 miles, and burned 300 some odd calories. Does that mean I burnt those calories in 45 minutes? Or does it mean that that is what I would have burned in an hour? Also, can anyone tell me what MET stands for? I’ll be walking tonight with my neighbor if the skies don’t open up…. So I’ll have logged in over 5 miles today if all goes well. I love my evening walks! Last nights walk was cut short because of the rain, so when I got home all the kids were still up. (Drag). I usually time it so that I leave at bedtime (hee, hee) and DH has to put them down! I’m out for an hour, and come home to a quiet house—I love it! Unfortunately, bed time is also chat time—if anyone’s still around, I’ll be on-line at around 9pm EST….
Biz- The skunks I run into are the 4 legged furry stinky kind. Love the no-hoper name though!
Mandy- Ok, it’s over. You have a handle on the situation. You’re going to be just fine. Stress is really difficult to deal with. Rejoice that you are nipping this in the bud at 4 pounds. Another time another you might not have been able to get back on the wagon. Celebrate your strength and your resolve. I’ll move over and you can sit next to me!
Grace- I am envisioning Girl Scouts in Vegas! LOL! Have a great time. And you go for that Nursing degree. You’ve got some time to work the kinks out—what’s age got to do with anything? GO GIRL, GO!
Tina- Glad to hear you and DH are OK. I hope his therapy goes well, and that he isn’t too uncomfortable from the treatment.
Mary- So glad for you! And meeting a Buddy too!
Lindalou- A mole?!! Never. A bat….maybe!
Bethanne- Got any ditty’s I can chant while I’m walking?!! Loved the one from Rosie!
Ice- Hang in there. I’m glad your DH will be with you soon.
All right ladies, gotta go— I want to shower and hit the library before camp pick up. I hope to catch some of you on chat this evening.
Best,
Zaybe

Hola, mi amigas y amigo!
Not much going on around here - that's a good thing, I think. I've actually been staying darn right OP this week - getting in my water AND exercising! DS has his weekly visit with the counselor later today.
Only one personal for now...

Afternoon every-one:
Today started out with such promise, a phone call from some very close friends to go for coffee with them. So off we go to Tim Hortens for a low fat muffin and milk. We get sat down beside this couple and a few mins later the man falls over and has a heart attack!! graemlins/sobbing.gif We get him lowered to the floor and because the police were there they took over the CPR for us. It seemed like forever till the ambulance came and they started to work on him for about 45 mins. When they left with him there was still no pulse. We asked the fireman who was there as well if he thought he would make it(wishful thinking) and he said he did not think so. I have to tell you this brought back such horrible memories of when one of our 13 year old boys died on the play ground a couple of years ago. The CPR we did for him did not do any good then either because the coroner said he had a heart defect and nothing we did would have made any difference. I think the thing I will always remember is their eyes they were wide open and just staring at you!! Sorry about this being so long guess I just had to write this out so I could think straight again.
On a brighter note I weighed in at home today and I have finally broke past the 130 I am finally 129 lbs. graemlins/crazy.gif It's only 1lb but I will take it.
Any-ways I think I am going to go for another walk and try to clear my head. Talk to you all later if I get a chance. Have a great day every-one with lots of hugs and love.
Chrysilis :D
