G'day babes graemlins/wave.gif

went off to the Trade Fair yesterday, wow wouldn't I of been in 7th heaven if individuals were allowed to purchas goods at wholesale prices :D Picked up my dress for my nephews wedding, DH just loved it when I paraded it for him, it's very flattering, the tummy tuck last year sure has paid off, there is no way in hell I could of bought such a slim fitting dress if not for it :D

I'm feeling good for WI tonight, measured myself this morning and in a month I've lost 10cm all over graemlins/crazy.gif

Trish.... sorry about your summer flying by so quickly, but that's music to my ears, that means mines getting closer ;)

Linda... glad to hear that you had such a great weekend, funny how things we hate to do, can make us feel so good in the end..... at times :D

Hiya buddies graemlins/wave.gif

Been keeping a low profile in all aspects of my life for the last few days. Ever since the in-laws left I have literally been 'burned out' and haven't been doing much apart from lazing around (oh yes and we did go to a wedding).

I'm back now and raring to go. Will post more tomorrow. Hope everybuddy is well. smile.gif

Take care

Good morning -- I'm running late, so I must keep moving, but thought I'd post a quick hello. I started watching "Sex and the City" last night, and now I'm hooked! What a wonderful show -- great acting; great writing; and a fun, funny concept. :D There were times I was just laughing out loud -- and I saw so many things that all women can relate to.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

Hi Buds,

I'm excited about my couselor's appointment at the tech school today. I did find out that school starts this semester the week I'm in Vegas, which stinks. Not much I can do about it though.

Bizz - Isn't it a great feeling to find the perfect dress and have it look great on??!! :D

Mandy - Sounds like some down time is exactly what you need for now! Enjoy!

Mardee - I've never seen that show. I see that they have it out on DVD. I may have to check it out that way!

Debbie - I used to be in a drum & bugle corps, so I remember those days of marching endlessly on hot asphalt in the heat and humidity! Kept me in mighty good shape, although it was tough work. I played French horn, and somehow, I always had enough hot air to keep it going!!

Have a great OP day everybuddie!!

Quick good morning buddies! I'm soooo overwhelmed by everything right now, it's making it hard to stay OP--I am, but it's really rough--I'm definitely an emotional eater. Glad I have you guys for support.

We're trying to find a location for DD's wedding and reception on the date she wants, in the setting she wants, etc. It's very time-consuming.

Plus, we're still in the middle of our remodel project. graemlins/ugh.gif Hopefully they'll finish everything by the end of next week (well, except for the paint and wallpaper . . . )

I need to start training again for the Half. My knee is doing great--still doing physical therapy and I think it's really helping.

Hope everybuddy has a wonderful day!

Good Morning Buddies,
Another hot, humid, and rainy day here today. We're meeting some friends in New Jersey for lunch at a Japanese Buffet later-- easy to stay OP-- lots of sushi and salads, edamame & fruit. The girls love it too, so it should be an easy outing.

I'm hoping the weather cooperates this evening so that my neighbor and I can get our walk in. We were out pretty late last night and ran into 3 skunks.... hope to get out before dark tonight!

Biz- Way to go on the dress! I love shopping for clothes when I can see the difference in my appearance! I hope you enjoyed every minute of the experience, and I'm sure you're lookin' hot!

Mardee- Sex in the City is an awful lot of fun isn't it? The show really cracks me up.

Grace- Glad to hear your knee is in good shape. Are you vacationing in Vegas? Sorry to be such an ignoramus, but-- what are you studying in school?

Jane- Weddings are stressful. VERY stressful. Just keep in mind, that this is the way it's going to be....and hang tough! It will all be worth it in the end!

Dawn- I checked out your Pizza post last night. Wow! I'll have to check it out as soon as it cools off around here! Glad to know you've heard your sweethearts voice.

Tina- How are you doing?

Mandy- !!! You survived! Enjoy your "time off!"

Karen- (TorBabe) How was your day off? So sorry to have missed you on line. Catch ya in the evenings OK?

Hello to all the rest of you buddies.

Best,

Zaybe

Good morning buddies,

It's the week we got the central air for - hot and humid, and it doesn't cool off at night. This is the first year we've had it and it is really helping at night. graemlins/sleep.gif

I did OK at last night's potluck, focused on taking 1-2 tablespoons of people's "specialties" (forget the store-bought stuff, I can buy that). The concert was fun. I'm really glad I started playing again.

Tonight I have another concert, this one comes with an ice cream social. I have some points in my plan for that too. This is a second band, I'm filling in for someone who's on vacation.

Grace, another horn player on the board! I used to march in high school, but they made me play alto horn. You're right, you do stay in shape! I now play in a community band, and will sometimes play a mellophonium for parades - but always the horn for concerts. The band doesn't march - we have a bandwagon.

I hope everyone has a great OP day!

Good Morning All graemlins/wave.gif ,
Just a quick note before I dash out the door to physical therapy. He has planned to add more things today, how fun-NOT! If you think you have strong abs, try what he is planning for today-kneeling on one of those big balls. You have to keep everything tight (he was having a hard time doing it yesterday)in order to stay on. Lets hope I can show him up! He has had me doing 90 crunches per day (I have to do them at home too). Well, I need to eat some breakfast, hope everybuddy has a great day!

Good morning.

I didn't even post yesterday. My weekend was busy, but fun. Got the girls and the anniversary party went very well. My aunt and uncle were very surprised, and there were tons of people there.
Sunday afternoon we (the girls and me) drove back home. And I spent the afternoon doing laundry and napping.
DH got home about 2:30 Monday morning from the race, the guys drove straight through after it ended.
Yesterday morning I went to the drs. for my annual yuck exam. He was very impressed with my being an non smoker for over a year. And said I looked great.

Well, I better get to these piles of paper on my desk. You all have a wonderful day.

Good morning, Buddies, and what a beautiful day it is. We're expecting another 100+ day here today -- but I love it (as long as there is the refuge of the A/C  ).

I'm in a particularly good mood this morning because last night I made my plane reservations to see my DH next weekend! It's been a week since we've been apart and I miss that man so much! Plus...I have another 10 days or so to lose more weight and be just that much smaller than the last time he saw me. I gotta tell you, the separation from him has been a great motivator for me -- wanting him to actually see a difference in me each time we get to see each other.

Becky - I just LOVE surprise parties, especially when the guest of honor is truly surprised (and pleased with the surprise).

Mary - Wow...90 crunches a day?? *Note to self: add tummy crunches to exercise routine*

Mardee - I've never watched an episode of Sex and the City because we don't have HBO. I think I've seen past seasons on DVD though -- so maybe I'll pick those up and watch them. I've heard it's a great show. Besides, I need something to take me away from those darn reality shows I'm hooked on!

Jane - Where in Texas are you? I'm in Central Texas and planned my daughter's wedding two years ago. We have quite a bit of info if you are anywhere in this area. I've actually seriously considered getting a certificate in wedding planning and doing it professionally.

Everybuddy - Hope all is well and happy.

Have a great OP day!

Hi guys. Back to work today after a long weekend, but hopefully to a bit quieter schedule. I had a fairly productive day yesterday, I managed to get most of my errands done and even got my mom's birthday present - new clothes.

Nancy - you asked about the 20 lb ankle weights. In the book, the author recommends the 20 lb weights because she says that you will 'outgrow' the 10 lb weights and then will have to purchase the larger size. She says you can also save some money by not buying the smaller hand weights, but using the bars from the ankle weights for the first little while until you work your way up to more than 4 lbs. Since she has been involved in many studies over the years, and has written several books on the subject, I figured I would be best following her advice.

Bizz: Wish a tummy tuck was in my future, I've got quite a bit of 'overhang'. I doubt that I'll ever be able to afford it, though.

Mandy: You definitely deserve a bit of down time, after all the stress during your in-laws visit.

Mardee: I never got started watching that series, but from everything I've heard about it, I should have.

Grace: Be sure to let us know how the appointment goes with the counselor.

Jane: It's hard to believe how much work a wedding can be. Hey, maybe they would consider eloping? (JK).

Zaybe: I just started eating sushi this year and I really like it. I can buy these little take out trays at my grocery store, and I will often pick up one for lunch on the weekend.

Mary: How the heck do you kneel on one of those balls? I don't think I could do it, considering that I'm 'balance challenged'.

Becky: Congrats on being a year smoke free.

Hi to everyone I've missed. I hope you all have a great day.

Just a quick good morning is all I have time for right now....Have a full house today and have got tons to do today here at the house, being I spent yesterday running erands...Then this evening I get to rake again...(WE are on four acres...and two days before we left for vacation the clutch went out on the tractor ($$268 OUCH!) so the front yard got mowed, but the back didn't so we have a jungle back there and after DH mows the first time we are having to rake up all the grass so he can remow it a second time)...It is probally going to take the rest of the week to get the yard back in order....But hey I am earning lots of AP's!!!! .....Gotta run....Talk to everyone later!!!

Good Morning,

Haven't posted in a couple of days. Was busy finishing organizing and cleaning my Dad's house. I'm happy to report that it is sparkling! He gets back from vacation late tomorrow! I tell you he won't recognize his house!! Hopefully he won't get to frustrated at us when he can't find anything!!!

My DH and I went to the fair yesterday! I banked and saved activity points so I could splurge! Funny though most of my usual splurges didn't even sound good. (wow I'm turning healthy?) I had a teriyaki chicken bowl for lunch which was yummy and the ff frozen yogurt for dessert! And then my big splurge was splitting a cinnamon roll with my DH! It was a beautiful day mid 70's - the fair grounds are right on the coast! It's just that much harder to be sitting here at work today!

Hope you all have a great day!!

Hi Buddies! Just a short post this morning, as I don't know how long I'll be able to stay on the computer. We had a massive thunderstorm this morning at 4:30 -- I had two quivering fur balls under the blankies with me! There was basically no delay between the flash of lightning and the crack of thunder, so I have a feeling those storm clouds were right over my house! It poured like the dickens. We need the rain so badly. I didn't hear any sirens after the storm, so I'm hoping no fires started. We still have rumblings this morning and the weather man warns that it will be a real "mixed bag" today! Will need to find some paperwork to do off line, as the electricity in this building isn't all that wonderful. Our cheap little surge protectors probably won't protect a thing!

Have a great day all!

Donna, thanks for the response. When I got my weights I opted for the 10-lb. ankle weights set because it was the biggest they had (their "men's" set  ), so I see your logic. If you want bigger ones you may have to go to a specialty store for weight training or even special order. For my exercises I have not outgrown my 10 lb. set, and when I do I can add another weight higher on the leg (hand held dumbbell just above the knee). I don't know what she'll have you doing.

I do know that I've appreciated having small hand weights because my latest Firm videos have a specialized upper body exercise that I need them for (2-3 lb.). Other than that the smallest weights I use are 5 lb., and that's for their aerobics routines that call for weights. In general you will use bigger weights to work bigger muscles, so for any workout you will need a variety. What I did was start with 3, 5, and 8, and added weights as I "earned" them. I didn't attempt to get everything I'd ever need all at once, and believe it or not I found earning more weights to be a motivator! I suppose you could try them in the store to get your starting weights.

Enjoy your search!

Hey Fabs graemlins/wave.gif

Thought I'd check in during lunch and see how everybuddy is doin!

Busy at work, busy at home these days. The Firm is ruling my life  - if I'm not working out, I'm hobbling around with sore muscles. WI tonight - hope I break 60!

DONNA AND NANCY - What's all this about 20 lb ankle weights???!!!! Be careful!! 20 lbs wrapped around your ankle is BAD, BAD physics. Think of your leg as a lever - which it is. Strapping a 20 lb weight at one end of the lever places unimaginable stresses on the hinge of that lever - your very own hip! Not to mention what it does to your lower back muscles!

BIZ - Congrats on the slinky dress!

MANDY - Are you hanging in OP-wise?

MARDEE - I've never seen Sex In The City - may have to check it out

GRACE - Call the instructors of the classes you'll be missing - I'll bet they will be willing to work with you......but maybe you shouldn't mention Vegas ;)

JANE - The Mother Of The Bride.....that's who they should make a movie out of!!! She Who Does All The Work .... Don't neglect to get a great dress for yourself - not one of those lace-covered pastel sacks most MOBs end up wearing tongue.gif

ZAYBE - 3 skunks! How cute is that? I've never seen a skunk in person.

MARY - Here's a chant for your evil physical therapist, which I stole from Rosie O'Donnell in her bit about aerobics:

I hate!
Your Guts!
You stupid, skinny Creep
I hope you DIE!

BECKY - Compliments from the Doc are the best, aren' they? You know you REALLY earned them!

JUNE - How long do you get to stay with DH?

TRISH - APs-a-rama! 4 acres of raking is about 3.75 acres too many in my book

JONI - Good job at the fair graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

LINDALOU - glad to hear the weather finally broke!

TINA - If you can stand to get a little exercise with TOM, it usually helps

Love you all

Bethanne, please don't panic! I've never put more than 4.5 lb. on one leg! Maybe some day I'll work up to 5. I only use them for leg lift exercises that are designed to use those weights. Most of them call for lying on one side on the floor and lifting one leg. Some of them are done from a kneeling position, with the chest supported by a bench or lower arms. For the ones that are done lying on your side, you can add a weight on the thigh if you want. Which, I agree, is better physics than adding yet more weight at the ankle. These exercises typically work the inner and outer thigh muscles, and the glutes (buttocks).

I know better than to walk around with them on - or worse, run - I value my knees! In fact, I usually sit down, put them on, exercise, take them off, and THEN stand up.

I have seen people jogging with ankle weights on. I have hard that is VERY dangerous for knees, even small weights, because our leg ligaments aren't designed for heavy feet. Even carrying hand weights (which is popular) can be hard on the joints (shoulders & elbows). For that matter, they used to tell you not to jump, jog, or run if you were 20 lb. or more overweight (to protect your knees). That's why "low impact" aerobics was developed. "Low impact" does not have to be "low intensity!"

I don't know why Donna's book calls for 20 lb. ankle weights (10 lb. per leg) unless they assume that at some point you will want more than 5 lb., especially since such big weights are so hard to find. My weights are adjustable in 1/2 pound increments (per leg) from 0 to 5 lb.

Hello every-one:

Just a quick check in today. Busy tearing down a fish tank and putting back togeather. Man those little critters can make a mess.

Not much going on around here today DH is on his long week so we have had four days of trying to keep the house very quiet. graemlins/ugh.gif

DD did break up with BF yesterday and as she puts it she is happy and sad about it at the same time. Go Figure!!!

Well I'm outa here have to go and get my walk in before the weather changes it says and looks like it is going to rain.

Talk to every-one later if I can drag DD off the computor long enough to Login. graemlins/crazy.gif Hope you all have a great OP day.

Thank goodness Nancy!

'Bout gave me a heart attack tongue.gif

There's lots of people I see jogging with ankleweights. It makes me cringe when I think of their poor joints.

WI was outstanding tonight - down 3.6 for a grand total of <drum roll please>

62.2 lbs!!!!!

And believe it or not, I can see a teeny little muscle cut in my arm :D , but the thighs and tummy are still in baaaaaad shape, i.e. no shape at all - just gelatinous blobs of FAT. So I'm getting real serious about the exercise these days. Plus I only have 12 lbs before the dreaded 18-23  I'll need all the APs I can get!

Tina, hope the bike ride made you feel better! I forgot to tell you that I heard a radio program on Saturday all about bicycling in Holland - it sounds wonderful! And so normal compared to here - here everyone has a bazillion-speed carbon fiber bike with a matching outfit

Hi again: graemlins/wave.gif

DD came off the computor long enough for me to get back on for a little while.

Not sure if you would call this a NSV or not but DH got on the scale today and was really surprised to see that HE had lost 14!! lbs. He came out and told me that maybe this WW thing wasnt so bad after all. smile.gif Now, I have not put him on WW but because my cooking habits have changed he has been eating a new way also. It felt pretty good for him to say he would like to keep this up because he has a motorcycle jacket that he could'nt zip up about three months ago and now he can. Says it's still hard to breath LOL but it will zip up now. I noticed him loosing around his face but I did'nt want to say any thing for fear of jinxing it. I am so proud of him for wanting to keep it going. I weigh in at home tomorrow so SV would be really appreciated I've worked hard to eat at the low end of my pts this week so we shall see.

Mandy: Enjoy youre time to yourself you deserve it.

Mardee: Don't you love shows that can make you feel that good.

Jane: Remember to take some time for yourself.

Zaybe: We have a great Japanese resturant that we have been to a couple of times. It's very expensive so we only go for very special occasions.

Nancy: Hope the concert and ice-cream social went well.

Mary: PT sounds gruesome graemlins/ugh.gif

Well better go DD is watching some kinda horror show  and doesnt want to watch it by herself so guess who is nominated to watch it with her. Have a great evening and hello to every-one I may have missed.
