G'day babes graemlins/wave.gif

DH and I aren't doing much the evening so thought that I could have a bit of a catch up here. Goodness I've spent so much time seraching for some pictures of Melbourne to put in the 'hometown thread', sorry folks sort of got a little carried away with it all.

I got a voucher from work today, it was one for the shopping centre that I work at, you should see what I bought, this Japanese teapot that I've been eyeing off for near on 2 years. It's a squat round one made out of cast iron... I'm sooo happy I finally got it, $185, and it comes with a matching cas iron stand, and is fully coated with porcelain enamel inside. I'm so happy graemlins/crazy.gif

http://www.sensationalteas.com/smmoon.jpg
This is the exact teapot that I purchased except I bought a brown one :D

Joni... I've used steriod spray and beleive it or not, it makes my congestion worse, the doctors and specialists over the years have had me spray virtually every conceivable type of medication up my nose, and the supposed best two, being, steriods and cortisone both make me worse, I'm going to fly solo on this one and as of today have started weaning myself off them. If this way doesn't work, thanks to Mardee I found some great ideas for about four different ways to wean oneself of the stuff!!!! Why did they not tell me 20 years ago that it only takes up to 10 days for the sinuses to get addicted to the sh*t!!!!!

Linda... oh babe I had no idea that you where addicted to the stuff as well. I grind my teeth at night, and have these jaw exercises I have to do, to stop my jaws aching!!!! What a pair we are.........lol

Donna... my mum gave me her christening gown, which I would class as an antique, well and truly...lol it's 77 years old!

graemlins/wave.gif Good morning y'all! It's 4:45am, Saturday morning and I'm up and off to the gym to run before we leave for the soccer tourny in Lake Jackson. It's a 1hr and 10 min drive so, we'll have to leave by 7am to be there by 8:15. I'm beginning to think that I may have a problem with some sort of mental illness! graemlins/crazy.gif Am I crazy for getting up this early to go run, before being out in the heat (100+) all day? I know that if I don't do it, I'll be impossible to be around all day, so I guess I'll just heed my own words and "Just Do It".

Went to Walmart last night with Joey and we got him a few things, snackwise, and some Gatorade and H2O. Ended up finding some valuable stuff for Mike, too. He actually told me that he is looking forward to going back to school! graemlins/thumbup.gif Man! Never thought I'd hear that one! LOL Maybe there is hope?

Bizz-I know what you mean about losing track of time on the puter. Makes me crazy! graemlins/crazy.gif

Mary-Don't know if I already said it, but CONGRATS ON THE HUGE LOSS!

Prayers, love, hugs and **********{SV's}}}}} to all! Have a great OP day, y'all!

Morning,

I am up and ready to walk out the door. Very impressive for me :D I still have 10 minutes to spare. I have to have DD#1 picked up from camp by 11:30 and if I leave at 7:30 I should be a couple minutes early.

DH got gone yesterday. After work I went to a couple bookstores, headache and all. It was single with no kids and so I couldn't not shop. I got that fireking book you showed me the link to Mardee, thanks. I also picked up a couple other antique books and few others. I spent almost 4 hours in just two bookstores. It really was fun, no one was bugging me to leave or needing anything. Came home and did laundry...it never ends. Then got packed for tonight.

I won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. I heard that my aunt and cousins made it back from Denver and were at my moms last night. The anniversary party will be fun to see everyone tonight.

Biz that teapot is awesome, I actually have a whole collection of teapots all boxed up in my attic, but none compare to that one!

Sal, you are dedicated. Good for you, I know that there is no way I would get up that early to work out.

Well, I need to hit the road. HOpe you all have a wonderful OP day.

Good morning buds,

WI went MUCH better than I expected. Down 2.8! Considering TOM had just arrived and my parents visiting for the past week (and me struggling to stay OP) I'm very happy.

The kids and I found all their school supplies yesterday and managed not to put too much of a dent in the 'ol wallet. We weren't as successful with the clothes shopping. DD did find one outfit she was happy with and DS found himself a shirt. The prices were great though! If I get brave enough today I may fight the crowds at Wally World and take them to try and finish up.

DH wants to hang out at home and act like a couch potato this weekend. He put in a request to rent one of his fav's, Cannonball Run. If that's all it takes to keep him happy, I will definitely oblige graemlins/kiss.gif

Have a good weekend everybuddy!

hugs, prayers & **{sv}} to all~
Lisa

P.S. Anyone want to give a tutorial on how to post photos from the web? TIA!

Good Morning!

I made it through the stressful evening and the pantry is still full!

The guys are starting home from Florida this morning and will be home tomorrow night. (DS#1 and 2 buddies flew out to spend the week and DH flew out Wednesday to meet them, see his family, and drive home the Bronco II he bought from his brother for DS#2.)

I have decided my stress relief today will be a new haircut, manicure and pedicure! I'm on my way out now! I told DS he could hang out at the mall and wait on me, then we'd shop for school clothes (Texas is having its tax free weekend for back to school shopping.)

Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!

Good Morning Sleepyheads graemlins/wave.gif ,
No matter how hard I try I still wake up at 5:30  The only day I seem to sleep in is on Sunday and miss chat, LOL.
Nothing much on the old agenda here today, have to go pick up the doggy door I ordered. It is an insert for the sliding glass door, but our door is 8ft tall, so it had to be special ordered at Home Despot. The neighbor got one and will show me how to install it.
Have a safe trip to all that are traveling and everybuddy have a great weekend.
Mary

Sal My son in Cuba says they do the same thing there-roll them out of bed at 2AM to do PT (physical training ie;run) before the heat index gets too high. Only they have to step over the banana rats (he says they weigh about 20 lbs  ) and their droppings. graemlins/crazy.gif
Mardee Congrats on the one grade, hope the second is an A too!
Jane glad to help! I am glad that you are including DD fiance's family in some of the planning. My ex-DIL family would not allow us to have any say or do anything for our son's wedding-except plan the rehearsal dinner, which took 10 mins and my checkbook. The hurt was indescribable to be excluded from such an important event in my son's life.

Morning Fabs graemlins/wave.gif

Just have 2 minutes this a.m. before I need to get ready to fly out the door! Been doing phone with bro and SIL.

SIL is frustrated as all get out trying to ditch 10 lbs she's gained over the last year and a half. She's model gorgeous and slim, slim, slim, but she finds herself with a tummy these days that she hates. Now, I've seen this alleged "tummy" and I would pay big bux for a tummy like that, but she's spent her whole life with a flat stomach and size 2's. Now that she's 40 and up to a 6 it is making her crazy - so I've got her on The Firm and George Foreman and she's thrilled. I don't think she's eating enough still, but she has increased her protein intake, so that's good.

I'll do personals later, gotta fly for my hair appt!

Ciao!

Good morning -- it's another cool Saturday morning here! I need to buy a birthday present for my aunt -- my uncle is having a surprise 70th birthday party for her tonight. I'll probably wind up getting her a plant or something -- she has everything, and her only hobbies are golf and bridge, neither of which I know anything about but the basics.

I'm going to try and make a dent in my basement today -- it rained last night, so I'll forego the yardwork I'd planned this morning.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday! Oh, I'm down 1 lb! (of course, that was the lb I'd gained last week).

Hi Buds,

The concert was awesome last night! I didn't make it to weigh in yesterday as DD#2's senior pic photo shoot went long, so I went this morning. I think that may have been a seriously bad idea. I was dehydrated from yesterday. (I didn't drink all my water because I didn't want to have to spend the concert waiting in bathroom lines, and it was humid so I was sweaty being outdoors all night.) I don't usually weigh in first thing in the morning either. But I went anyway. Sure enough, I was down 3.8 pounds, which is not a true loss at all. Now I'll have to work really hard not to show a gain next week. The good news is that if I do show a loss next Friday, it will put me into the 160's! So that will motivate me to get my exercise in and have a bang-up week.

Gotta run. Lots to do. I was hoping to get my car in the shop today. It's making a horrid noise (the first 2 times I heard it, I looked up to see why that plane was flying so low!) when I brake. But the dang shop isn't open till Monday. It's the only place I trust around here. Several other places have taken me for a ride (no pun intended!).

Morn Fabs,
I am going on a canoe trip this morning I have nver done this before and I keep trying to not do it but I just keep telling myself to go take a chance .I know I would have a good time if I can just make myself get there. Was down a half pound today. Slow and steady will win the race.
Almost decided not to go but now that I have wrote this note I have talked myself back into going again. Better leave right now before I talk myself out of it again.
See Ya

Greetings to all my Fab Buddies! We are back from vacation, and am finally getting a chance to check in here.
I have missed two WIs, but the scale says I am down 3 pounds - guess it won't be official until Monday AM, my usual WI day. If it holds, I will be ONE POUND away from goal!!
I was serving as the nurse at a primitive, backpacking camp for teens, for the 12th summer. This summer was the BEST ever! Having lost 60+ pounds I had SO much more energy and we took two long day hikes and I did lots more walking throughout the camp. I got PLENTY of APs, and probably ate most of them. ;) The weather was wonderful and I am fairly sorry to be back at home and work. :(
Becky, I haven't read all the recent Daily Threads, but if you have questions about Fire King, feel free to drop me a note - I used to sell it and other Kitchen Glass. I have had several articles on it published, and have a lot of reference books. You can reach me at ~~kykate@pacbell.net~~, minus the ~~ at either end.
Bizz, your teapot is GORGEOUS!! I hope you are actually going to use it, as well as displaying it. What fun!!
Sal, you know you aren't crazy - you are taking good care of yourself and enjoying your family. ;) Seems reasonable to me graemlins/thumbup.gif .
Lisa, congrats on your great loss! You are well on your weigh to your goal and better health!!
Debby, sounds like you have a wonderful day planned for yourself. Have fun!!
Mardee, congratulations on your A. You are working so hard on your legal education, AND your health. What a great future you are carving out for yourself!!
Grace, Weigh To Go!! Even if you don't have a big loss next week, you are still going the right way.The 160s are fun - hope you are there soon!

HELLOs and HUGS to all!! Gotta run to the Farmers' Market before I have to go into work.

Good morning buddies! :D And what a GOOD morning it is! We have clouds! They actually dropped a little rain on us last night -- okay, it was only a sprinkle, but it was the first moisture to fall from the sky in almost 2 months! It promises to be only about 80 degrees today. That's still a bit warm for me, but I'll take it. Beats 105 any day! tongue.gif

Biz - I LOVE the teapot! It's so elegant looking. They have some like it at our teahouse, but they are so expensive. You're right -- you and I are a lot alike. Sinus and jaw problems, and we both love to spend money on fun things!

Sal - you gotta do your exercise when you can! I'm never able to gather that much energy that early in the morning. I can drag myself into the gym by 8:00 on a good day!

Becky - sounds like the party will be fun. I wish I enjoyed my family that much. I do remember BIG gatherings when I was little though, and they were a good time.

Lisa - yeah! What a good loss! Sounds like the school shopping is going okay. I can't believe it's time for that already!

Debbie - way to go on avoiding the stress eating. It will be nice to have the family home again where you can hug them all!

Mary - I wake up early all the time too. Then it's a matter of dragging my sorry carcass out of the bed! Wasn't too bad this morning with this lovely cool air!

Bethanne - my sister complains about her "tummy" too. She's still got hip bones showing for gosh sakes! I don't see any tummy!

Mardee - is your aunt one of those people who still writes real letters? She might appreciate some wonderful stationery. That seems to be the thing that my aunts like the most.

Grace - wow! that is some loss! It would be kind of fun to keep up with it. I do hope, however, that you will drink lots of water today!

Jan - you sound alot like me -- I decide to do something and then waffle about it for days. The half hour right before I'm supposed to go is major indecision time!

Kate - how nice to see you back! I ha forgotten you were on vacation and was wondering where you had got off to!

Speaking of people AWOL since vacation, where is our KAREN MARIE ? I know she headed for the hills, but it seems time she was back!

Well gals, I need to get to the gym, then get home and clean my room. I'm getting a new armoire and nightstand tomorrow. I'll actually have a CLOSET in my house! :D

Sal way to go up and running. Someday, when I grow up I want to be just like you.
Becky enjoy the party.

Oops I have to go try and find something for DH. Just wanted to say hi.
I am sending out skinny vibes today.
Bethanne even to skinny SIL's. LOL!

Good Saturday Fabs!

DMIL is moving here... she arrives TODAY! Woo hooooo!!! I'm so happy! She'll be staying with me until next Friday, when her furniture and belongings are expected to arrive. I will be so glad to have her, I am exceptionally blessed with a fabulous MIL!

Me and DS's are cleaning the house, then will go get her and will likely stop at Panera Bread for a meal - yummy salads there, just gotta stay away from some of their sandwiches and of course I can't even look at their pastries! No problem though, I do love their salads!

Gotta go, laundry calls.

Love to all!

Hi to my Fabulous Buddies graemlins/wave.gif

I don't know if it the switchover from nights, or the weather.....but I find myself very subdued and lacking energy today. I slept til 1100h, and its now past 2 pm, and I'm still in my PJ's. Nothing worth missing though. Rain and fog outside for our Civic Holday Weekend. Am still hoping the rain eases off late in the afternoon. Once it does, I will head out for my daily walk. They are promising nicer weather for tomorrow, so I do hope their predictions come true.

It's been extremely quiet in the city though, even though this is the weekend of Caribana. (All our tourists left when the Rolling Stones did.)

Well, I guess I'll get back to my laundry...cleaning...etc. etc. until the rain eases. Hoping all my buddies have a fabulous weekend. Hope to speak to you on chat tomorrow morning !!!!

Hi Buddies, I'm back from vacation. We had a great time. The weather was good. Only one day of rain and it was just for a couple of hours. We got to visit with DHs cousin and her family, we checked out Put-in-Bay and Kellys Island and Johnstown Island. (Kellys has inscription rock with early american Indians carvings and Johnstown Island has a Civil War cemetary). It was great spending the week with the In laws too and the nine of us survived in one house. Had one thing happen that wasn't too good, and really I'm not sure exactly if it will turn out to be anything or not. My SIL and FIL both have Type II Diabetes, well they were checking all of us to see what our sugar levels are and when they checked my youngest, hers was very high. Scared me silly. I called the Dr. yesterday as soon as we got back and they had me bring her right in. Her blood test in the office was fine, but they sent her for a fasting blood test this morning. We have to wait 2 weeks to see the results. I have had some concerns about her lately because in the past 6 months I have noticed some changes and was planning on getting her checked out before school started anyway. Prayers would be appreciated as I'm not sure what will be found if anything. Well, it's back to normal here. DH and the two older kids are at a car wash fundraiser for the HS soccer team. Tomorrow DH is traveling to Philly for a soccer game. He is really excited because he gets to see two international teams that he would otherwise not get to see and he gets to go for free. His buddy is dating the SIL of a Congressman who got him the tickets for free. Not too bad. Well, better get going. The three car washers will be home soon.

Bizz - Love the tea pot. Do you have a large collection of Tea pots?

Sal - Enjoy the day and the soccer tournament. Glad to hear Mike is looking forward to school. I bet that made you so happy.

Becky - Your solo shopping trip sounded great. I don't get to do that very ofter, sure miss it at times.

Lisa - Congratulations on the loss, WTG. I need to get shopping soon. Just got the supply list for the kids so we need to do that soon while the sales are good.

Debbie - Enjoy your day getting pampered. Sounds like fun.

Mary - Hi buddy, have a nice day.

Bethanne - Sounds like you got some good things for SIL. She's lucky to have you.

Mardee - Congratulations on the "A", What a super accomplishment. You must be so proud.

Grace - Glad you had a loss, I bet if you work at it, you'll be fine next week as well.

Jan - Hope you had a good time on the canoe trip. DH and I rented a canoe while in FL at Christmas, we had a great time. (just needed to keep the canoe from heading for the banks, not sure if we would see any gators and I sure didn't want to find out for sure, LOL)

Kate - Congratulations on the loss, and on vacation too. You did great.

Linda - Since I've been gone and havn't had a chance to read all the dailys yet, how is your brother doing?

Tina - Glad DH is home, how is he feeling?

Karen - Enjoy the day and the trip to Panera. Sounds yummy.

TorBabe - Hi buddy, nice to see you checking in. Have a great day.

Till later, Linda

Hello Every-one:

Have not had the time to post in the last few days. We've had a ton of company and it has been great. I don't have much time today but just wanted to check in and see what every-one has been up to.

I have been trying to get a hold of some friends that live in Mclure lake right around Barrier where we go camping every year but they were evacuated yesterday and there is no power so of course no phones either. I guess we will have to wait to see if they lost their home or not the news has not been able to tell us much. So far DM and DF are still safe from their fire but from what they were saying it is also getting closer to the boarder as well. Man do they need rain graemlins/ugh.gif

We are suppose to go down that way in a week or so. So I hope the highways will be open again by then.

Went shopping for school supplies yesterday and did'nt have to spend as much as a I thought I would so that was a bonus. Got DD a pair of jeans for 29.99 and a shirt for 16.00 at Jeans Wearhouse 1,and she likes them YAHOO. graemlins/crazy.gif

Not a lot of time for personells today:

Bizz: The tea pot looks great.

Sal: I got my walk in today but it definatley wasnt that early. I'm so impressed with youre dedication. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Lisa: graemlins/thumbup.gif on the great loss.

Linda: Glad to hear the temp. has gone down for you guys our temp has really dropped here to.

Well I have to go hope every-one has a terrific weekend. Hello graemlins/wave.gif to every else that I may have missed.

Linda,
It was a good thing you took your daughter to the Dr, but most kids (95%) are diagnosed with diabetes after a viral illness. For some reason they think that it sets up an immune response that affects the pancreas. Large amounts of juice will also cause the positive test that you got, that is why the blood test was done. You can pretty much bet that she will be OK. I will bet you that SIL and FIL were diagnosed as adults and that is a whole different thing from juvenile diabetes.
The kids that I used to see in the ER were VERY thin, drank gallons per day, peed all day and ate anything they could get their hands on and ALL of them had had a virus or "cold" symptoms about 2-3 weeks before. The blood sugar average on these kids was 300-400.
Hope this helps to sort things out! I will keep my fingers crossed for good test results.

:D What a FABULOUS day!!! :D

I am a new me! The manicure/pedicure were wonderful... but the haircut is fantastic! It's in long layers, but it's a big change for me. I swear it took a few years (and a few pounds) off! DS took one look and said, "MOM! You look great! Dad's gonna love it!" I can't wait to show him tomorrow. I went in with the attitude of letting the hairstylist decide what to do--completely. (LOL, I did mention no green spikes or anything...) She did a great job.

The funny part is, one of the other hairstylists saw DS's hair when he took his hat off and said, "I would LOVE to cut your hair! I have the perfect look for you!" DS went along with it and he was right! It IS perfect for him! (He has really thick, naturally golden blonde hair... the color people pay big bucks for... LOL)

I also took him to buy school clothes, so he's ready to go!

I think I need to plan a day like this about every 10-15 pounds.... hmmm sounds like a plan to me! :D

Hello again:

Just a quick update on the fires burning here and around. We are now under a Province Wide State of Emergency. The friends I mentioned this morning got out ok but they still dont know about their home graemlins/ugh.gif as no one is allowed back in and planes can't fly over the town because of the heavy winds that are created by the fire its self. My friend said her mother was taking pictures of the trees candling up and hosing down the house because of the cinders falling on their roof and then about two hours later they were told to get out. They and some neibours parked their motorhome and any veihicles that they couldnt get out in a bare field with any sprinklers that they could string out there left them running on them, took what they could and left. The fire in Williams Lake is creating alot of smoke and people we know who were traveling yesterday said it was really hard to breath. DD has had asthma in the past but has been really good latley but I am still going to go to the clinic with her and get a Ventaline for her to take just in case. The fire by my parents place seems to be stable right now. This is the driest I have ever seen Prince George since we moved here in 1986. The gound is just like walking on dried up straw.

Linda: I hope everything turns out ok with DD. Its a good thing you took her to the Dr.

Debbie: The new do sounds fantastic. Your DS hair cut sounds great to it's wonderful that he is happy with as well.

Well I must go DD wants to go and put signs up to sell her old bike. We told her she could have half the money so now she is anxious to get it sold. Have a great evening every-one. graemlins/wave.gif

Good evening buddies,

I have a half hour before I can post on the Sunday thread. So I'm here.

I went down to the summer season championship swim meet this morning, and they were short handed, so I stayed all day. Mostly I worked as a timer.

This evening we went to a new restaurant in town, one that was built in the old jail and has a "jail house" theme. They left a lot of the cell bars in - and some of the doors. They remodeled the cells and put tables in them - except for one, which has the original furniture and fixtures  . The food is moderate in quality and price - but somewhat nicer than the chains, more interesting and different stuff, and not horribly over-sized portions. The lunch stuff looked good too. It's good to have another good place in town.

I hope everyone had a great OP day!
