G'day babes graemlins/wave.gif TGIF for some, but not me this week :( working this weekend!

bought myself a beautiful traditional Japanese teapot yesterday to add to my collection, well, the colour I'm sure isn't traditional but one never knows, it's this fantastic blue colour. Very functional collecting Japanese teapots, as I use them as well as display them, I each one for a different type of tea.

Mardee... congrats on the A graemlins/thumbup.gif I never had a doubt

Joni... I've gotten used to not using salad dressing, tried the LF and FF varieties and hated them, so only use it on rare occassions now.

Linda... I've still got one more session of acupuncture to go, but, it hasn't worked that well for me, I'm positive that my main problem now is my sinuses are addicted to all the sprays I use, each time I try to cut down on the usage, they clamp shut I can't breathe and the migraine that comes on is unbearable.

Tina... ****{hugs}}} for you and DH graemlins/kiss.gif

Mary... down 2, that's fantastic graemlins/crazy.gif

Karen (torbabe)... the rains have stopped, I'm sure you guys wouldn't of thought much of them, as there was no flooding etc, but it was still alot for our dry and arid country!

 YIKES just checked the time gotta dash on outahere have a grouse one graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Good morning buddies graemlins/wave.gif

So we are back to normal here and relieved to say the least. We haven't heard a word from the in-laws since they returned home but I'm sure all is well. DH sent a HUGE e-mail to his brother and so far he hasn't replied. Not sure if he's being pig-headed or just taking time to digest what was said.

I just found out that my sister is coming to visit from Ontario in a couple of weeks. She is attending a conference and is going to come a few days early to stay with us. I am so excited as I haven't seen her for 2 years since we moved out here. DD is particularly excited as she loves and misses her Aunt SO MUCH. DS#1 is going to be so happy to see her too. DS#3 really doesn't remember her all that well as he was only 3 when we left but he will be excited anyway as he is possibly the most sociable kid I have ever met (embarassing too sometimes odear.gif )

I have been working really hard the last couple of days to make sure I don't add on to my plateau. So far I think its working. My WI this week was up a pound but I know I can kick it by next week smile.gif

Well buddies, best wishes to all of you

Take care

Hi Ya Fabieez:

This is a preface to the strike. I have to attend a one-day training session today and fortunately it is being held right down the street from where I work now. I don't know what type of job I will be doing but I'm sure it's customer related. The poor hourly people always get the crap jobs unless they're in administration. So I'm sure it will be a job that I'll hate. Hopefully it'll keep me boiled up enough to stay awake during my 12 hour days.

Cinna, Linda and Grace, I'm not sure I'll be able to pack a lunch. For one thing, I usually only eat salads for lunch and I usually only buy my produce at my brother's place. Working 12 hour days, 7 days a week, will not allow me the time to shop there as he closes at 6:00 p.m. Working 7 days a week, I also may be too tired to do any shopping.

I'll just have to take it one day at a time and hope that they cater in salads. I'm thinking of telling them I'm a Vegan and must be allowed my salads. I don't normally eat any lunch meats or frozen dinners because of the high sodium count.
But we'll see. I'll know more after a couple, few days.

Well, I must go - its off to training.

BIZZ: Your teapots sound wonderful. What would be even more wonderful would be coming to your place for an afternoon tea! (What's your address, I'll be right over!) :D

MANDY: I've been following your story. I'm glad your household is back to normal. I hope your FIL and MIL are helped in some way. Have fun with your sister. My sister is 10 years younger than me and when we were young we fought like cats and mirrors, now we have the greatest times together - more like best friends than sisters!

Gotta run Later gators!

Good morning! I feel rested and ready to meet TGIF!!! I'm excited about work today -- they finally got Time Matters going on my computer! Time Matters is a legal database that we used extensively at my last job, and is a WONDER for organizing files and cases. They've had it here before I even started, but no one has gotten it going. So one of the partners finally talked to me about it, and I spent a few hours "training" him to show him the benefits, and now he's gung ho! smile.gif So today I get to play around with it and input some data.

BIZZ: Sounds like you have a condition known as rhinitis medicamentosa. If you do a search on the web, you'll come up with tons of information about it. Here's one site I found with a bit of information: http://www.doctorhoffman.com/xrhin.htm

MANDY: Hope you get things resolved with your in-laws. At least you have your sister's visit to look forward to -- that sounds like it will be fun!

GRAM: Hopefully the strike will be short-lived! At least you don't have to travel far from home. How far is your brother's produce place? Maybe you could arrange for him to pick you up something and you could pick it up at his home after hours?

Hope everyone has a fabuloso Friday!

I hope I get a break soon. I just found out that my dog has developed a heart mumur and needs and EEG. If it is bad then I will not be able to operate. His panic attacks and hullicnations could kill him. I guess his heart pumping from fear raised his blood pressure and caused damaged. He is doing so very well now. I will just have to wait and see. graemlins/sobbing.gif
I think I would like to check out of my life for a few days and come back next week. Any offers? Gram maybe, close to home, you and family sounds good but NOT!!! Verizon is run by idiots.
:D I am sure I will feel better in a few hours.

Biz, your tea pot sounds so pretty.
Mandy, I am sure your hard work will pay off.
Gram, I am so sorry to hear about all this. I am happy that you are close to your Dad. Maybe you can check out the food the first day and see if you can plan it in and stay within or extremely close to your point range.

Hi Buds,

I'm thrilled to have today off! I need to get to the grocery store. My fridge is looking absolutely pathetic. I had to toss the last of the salad stuff last night because it didn't look so good! That was unfortunate as that was my planned dinner. I weigh in today, if DD's senior pic appointment is done in time. If not, I'll have to go tomorow morning, which will throw next week's weigh in off. But I hate to miss a week.

Bizz - Sounds like a neat collection! Functional as well as beautiful.

Mandy - I hope all is well with your inlaws and that DH's brother gets a clue. How cool to see your sister after so long! Enjoy it, you deserve it!

Gram - Ask your brother if he'll start a "for my sister only" delivery service! ;)

Mardee - How cool to get that software up and running! They'll love you for that!

Jane - I love your DH's "happiest groom" comment! How true!!

Joni - I never feel old unless it's something that has to do with my kids! They alone have the ability, by becoming such lovely young women, to make me feel like so much time has passed!

Sal - I loved "The Count of Monte Cristo"!! Did you enjoy it?

Lindalou - My house is old and non-standard too. Boy that makes things difficult! And expensive!

Donna (Calgary) - Congrats on the loss! How cool to be in the 150's.

Tinatulips - I just missed you in the chat room this morning!

Mary - Congrats on the loss!! graemlins/thumbup.gif

Zaybe - Sounds like one heck of a schedule!! Whew!

graemlins/wave.gif Hi Ice, Becky, Nancy, Justine, Becky and everybuddie else. Have a great Friday! :D

Tinatulips - I just missed you in chat, and now I missed you here! I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. On top of everything else, that just seems like too much. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

TGIF! Yes, indeedy!

Today is WI and TOM is here...not expecting much of a loss graemlins/sobbing.gif but any loss will be a good loss. Afterwards the kids and I will be stopping at Target to shop for school supplies - they are supposed to have the lowest prices this year according to the newspaper! And then a stop at Kohl's to see what bargains I can find in the way of school clothes for the kids - fun, fun, fun!

Mardee - congrats on the A!
Bizz - the teapot sounds great...I love blue!
Mandy - glad your visit with the in-laws is over and you have a fun visit with your sis...
Kathy - listening to your work stories I almost want to chunk my Verizon phone off a mountain ;)
Tina - I'm so sorry to hear about your dog :(
Grace - **{skinny vibes}} I hate missing a week, too.

hugs, prayers & **{sv}} to all~

Mardee, thanks so much for the link, my dr. and the different specialists I've seen over the years, never believed me when I told them I was sure my sinuses were addicted to all the meds that I'd been using/prescribed. All the sypmtons are exactly what I have, no wonder the acupuncture couldn't do the trick.

Very interesting reading, now to give them up, OMG I think I'll be hard to live with, as the swelling of them once the spray has worn of gives me a headache which then turns into a migraine, and no sleep for a week. This one like giving up the ciggies I will plan ahead.

Once again thanks heaps graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Hi guys. Boy, TGIF! It's been a busy week for me, but today it has finally settled down and I'm all ready for a long weekend (Monday is a holiday). DH and I have to go see our insurance agent tomorrow, we just got a notice of increase on our rates (combined house and 2 cars) and it has jumped up about $600/year. We were expecting an increase because everyone's insurance was due to go up, but only about 5%, not this much. Our agent is going to do some searching around and see if we can find a different company with more reasonable rates, especially when you consider that I have never had a speeding ticket or a claim of any kind on my car, and DH only has 1 speeding ticket from a couple of years ago and his other claim was paid by someone else's insurance because they were at fault. It just frosts me!

Hey Mardee, you said you collected antique linens, maybe you can offer some advice. My mom gave me a bunch of handerchiefs, both men and women, and I believe most of them belonged to grandparents, great aunts, etc. I'm not really interested in displaying them or anything and I was wondering if they might be worth something to a collector. How old do they have to be to have any value? Do you think it worth my while to hunt up a collector and see what they would offer me for them?

Well, gotta go. Biz's post has given me a hankering for a cuppa tea. Need to go and plug in the kettle. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning,

Have a terrible headache today, started yesterday and it just will not let go. DH leaves for Indianapolis this morning.

Tomorrow I drive 4 hours to get DD#1 from camp, then stopping halfway home for an anniversary party for my aunt and uncle. DD#2 will be coming back with my cousin for the party. The girls and I are spending the night, so they will be able to swim. We will drive home on Sunday.

Thanks Mardee for the information, I will look into that book. I love antiques and I just always buy what I like, and never really pay attention to the details, but it is nice to learn about them.

Gram, I am glad that you are going to be closer to home, the hours sound horrible, maybe it will end sooner than they think.

Well, hugs to all my other buddies, I hope that each of you have a great day and weekend.

TGIF! Everyone!

I'm happy to report that I'm down .5 lb this week! I'm pleasantly surprised because I didn't do very much cardio this week. (just a lot of cleaning Dad's house!) Must a been all that elbow grease!!

I'm looking forward to a three day weekend! My DH and I are taking Monday off and going to our county fair! I don't think I've ever missed a year of going to the fair. I like going during the week cause it's much less crowded! I LOVE the fair!!! and YES I will stay OP! I did last year and I will again this year. No fried twinkies for me!!! (that sounds so yucky!) I was reading that the big food item this year was going to be fried oreos (which sounds even worse!). I will go for the fresh corn mmm mmm and usually can find enough OP things to make me happy!

Tomorrow, its back up to my Dad's to finish organizing and cleaning before he arrives home on Wednesday. . . still a ton of stuff to do to get it looking okay.

Bizz: I was just reading an article in the paper about the rebound effect of using nasal sprays. They reccommended using a spray with steroids in it! (that sounds scary!) I was using an over the counter nasal spray cause I ran out of my prescription one and was having the same problem. As soon as it would wear off, I would feel MUCH worse. I stopped using the spray as of a couple of days ago and while I'm still congested, it is not as bad as it was. . . I got to go back to the doc for a refill of the "good" stuff!

Mandy: How exciting to see your sister. I'm sure you are looking forward to that visit. I think you deserve an award for being so patient with you in-laws. . .

Gram: Good luck with training . . at least you will still be getting a paycheck (with OT!)

Mardee: Have fun with the new software today! YAY TGIF

Tina: I'm sorry to hear about your doggy. . . I hope he continues to be okay. How long has he been like that? Do you think he senses what is going on with DH? Animals are very intuitive.

Grace: I know what you mean. . . friends kids are getting married already and I think it was like just yesterday when they were toddlers. . . time flies!

Lisa: Just remember, even a no loss is a good thing! It's better than going the other way. Have fun at Kohl's. We just got one in our are and I'm addicted!! My sister and I went shopping and all there summer merchandise was 80% off. We got some INCREDIBLE bargains!

Have a great day to all I missed!! YAY it's friday!!

graemlins/wave.gif Good morning y'all! Having a very hectic life right now! We have a soccer tournament this weekend and if our team makes, 1st or 2nd, we will play at 9:15 am on Sunday. That means that I will have to leave the house by 7am, so I won't be able to make chat. graemlins/sobbing.gif Y'all have a great day!

Bizz-It's hard getting off the sprays, but totally worth it! Good luck!

Mardee-Congrats on the "A"! WOW! What an accomplishment!

Lindalou-Don't melt sweets!

Jane-The whole time that you were describing the retaining wall fiasco, I was singing, "And the wall, came tumblin down, The wall!" Oldie but a goodie! Like us! LOL LOL

Ice-Glad to have you back, babe!

Hoppy-I really miss you!

Gotta fly, boobs to be squished! Toodles! Prayers, love, hugs and **********{SV's}}}}}} to all! Have a great OP day.

Morning Buddies! I'm SO GLAD IT'S FRIDAY I could cry! graemlins/sobbing.gif What a week it's been. Record high temperatures and one payroll fiasco after another. Things like, "why was my student only paid half-time this month? I told him I'd pay him full-time!" WELL, did anyone tell ME? Of course not! Just call me the Amazing Kreskin -- I get vibes from the universe that tell me what to pay everyone! SHEESH! Weekend, here I come! :D

Biz - I too have the rebound problem. They tell you to just stop using the sprays, but that just won't do. Especially since I clench my teeth at night, I would die of suffocation! I have the Nasacort (steroid) and the Astelin (antihistimine) sprays, which are supposed to eventually wean me off the decongestant, but every time I almost make it, so major pollen comes up and knocks me back to square one. I'd love to live without all of them.

Mandy - I'm so glad you have your life back! After the kids being so bummed about summer vacation, it's nice that they have a visit from Aunty to look forward to! Sounds like you did okay -- only up one pound in all that stress is admirable!

Gram - any chance you could give the bro a pre-selected shopping list and he could drop things off once a week? That's what family is for. I'm with you on the lunch meats and frozen dinners. Way too much sodium, plus they just don't taste that good.

Mardee - isn't it wonderful to have software that actually makes the job easier? They usually just give us the kind that creates more work here!

Tina - my goodness. Sounds like you've got a good case for yelling, stop the world I want to get off! Give that pup a hug for me. Sending more prayers your way.

Grace - I've been keeping my salad in the food saver canisters this summer -- really helps to keep it fresh much longer. I love that food saver.

Lisa - WI may surprise you. I know that I often would notice it was TOM ( a little hard for me after hysterectomy, but I still have my ovaries) and I would end up losing! Hope you have the same luck.

Donna - wow! That's some increase in the insurance rate! I still have the safe driver discount on my insurance despite five accidents. Everyone always hits ME! I'm hoping that phase of my life is over!
Becky - I've got a doozy coming on again today too. It started yesterday, managed to stave it off and now it's coming back. I may just give it up if I need to!

Mary - congrats on the wonderful loss! The scale may be deciding to catch up with the inches! smile.gif

Joni - hey! Housework does burn a lot of calories! No wonder I don't lose much that often! tongue.gif I'm sure I could win the award as the world's worst housekeeper!

Well, I'd better get some work done. I would like to get rid of this headache, as there is a sale at the Quilt Patch this weekend and I want to go today to get the best selection. Nothing like trying to pick out colors when you can't see straight!

Love to all,
Linda graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Hi to my Fabulous Buddies graemlins/wave.gif

Well, have just arisen after my 4 h sleep, (folowing my 14h Night shift). It was a busy one, so no time to have a break last night and check out BCB.

Am currently awaiting a phone call, and once it comes......I'm up and out of the door for my walk, (that's despite the 32C Humidex [ 90F]) Looks like a rainstorm could be part of our forecast later this afternoon.

My old job, just called me to work a 12h night tonight, but I feel burned out. (Even though I really need to, and have only had 4 h sleep......I just don't feel as if I can) They always do have a way of making you feel guilty!!! (when you do refuse)

Hi to everyone, and I hope all my Buddies have a good day!!!!

Donna, I don't know how many you have, but while vintage handkerchiefs are pretty, they aren't worth a ton of money, unless there are some that are unique. For example, the white silk or linen ones with handmade lace that are in excellent condition do well on Ebay, since brides buy them to carry at weddings -- I've seen a few go for around $30 or $40 each, but they were exquisite. Or for example, there's one on Ebay now that is a vintage copy of a Texas map that's selling for around $25. Do a search on Ebay for vintage handkerchiefs (include completed auctions) and you'll get some idea of their value. The ones in near-perfect condition get the most money.

I doubt that a collector would pay much for them -- usually they sell for $1-2 apiece at antique flea markets. You might try selling them in batches on Ebay if you don't want to mess with them individually. You also might try donating them to a professional theatre near you, and get a tax write-off. The theatre I used to work for accepted donations, and handkerchiefs were always welcome, since they're used a lot in period shows. I used to send out letters that could be used for tax purposes.

graemlins/crazy.gif day. No time to post, including now.

Last night around 9pm, a friend of dd's calls, wants her to join her family at their lake cottage for the weekend. I've never met the family, so I worked from home just to meet them. They were going to show up around 11, but finally made it around 1:30pm. So it's just dh and I until Sunday morning!

But I'm working, gotta show some real results at work. It's nice sometimes at home, no phone to interrupt me.

Remember my car being in the shop since Mon. AM? Haven't heard a word... but they were going to call at work and I'm not there. And they said they might not be able to get to it this week when I took it in. I'm dealing, the rental car is a bit prone to panic attacks but I think I've figured out the secret to keeping them from happening. The remote doesn't have instructions!

I hope everyone has a great OP day!

Hello Fabs graemlins/wave.gif

I have been rode hard and put up wet kids  Just had my second Firm Cardio Sculpt workout and I feel folded, spindled AND mutilated! I made it all the way through HURRAY!, but had to switch to marching during some of the cardio stuff since I'm such a klutz I'm having trouble figuring out the steps. Remember the part in Miss Congeniality where she's trying to learn the choreography? That's me - half a beat behind and always starting on the wrong leg ;) As long as I keep on my feet and don't fall into the fireplace, I'll call it good! Wowsers that's a tough workout.

I've been fighting some bug or other for the whole last week and stayed home yesterday. Long about 3 I reached into the freezer to take out some chicken for dinner only to find everything thawing merrily away  Since my fridge is only a year old, I was upset to say the least. And of course the warranty expired 2 weeks ago. I dragged out the owner's manual and it said to vaccum the coils underneath. Well, I've never vaccumed a fridge in my entire life - so there I was - face down on the floor (thank goodness I mopped last weekend) staring into the depths of the underside of the fridge which was full of dust and cat hair. I cleaned it all out and guess what? Everything was frozen again by morning! Who knew?!

Just one personal for Donna Calgary -

Maybe it's not your thing, but if I had lots of lovely handkerchiefs I'd frame a selection of the best on the diagonal and hang them in my kitchen. I have quite a lot of needlework that my gram and great-gram made mounted and hung around the house, as well as my great-great-gram's black silk shawl that I have hanging in the living room. The latest one is a cutwork coverlet that gram was working on before she died - I'll be mounting it on strecher bars this winter and hanging it on a wall I'm painting red, so it will show through the openwork. I just love the thought of the threads that link us back through the generations - but I'm a needlework nut

I'm hitting the showers and crawling into bed, buds. See you all tomorrow!
