I am 15 points over my maximum!!! I had no points banked and ate very small portions and choose the foods with the lowest points. When leaving I could see the chef working and I saw how much real butter was put into everything. Oh, goodness. I looked it up and if I am right it would be about 15 points. I might be exagerating and I truely had a wonderful time. Our friends go back to Zwitserland tomorrow, so it is back OP for me. I might try to save 15 points the rest of the week, but I am afraid I am setting msyelf up for failure. It means that my maximum will be lowed with only 3 points a day. That sounds doable, but I would only be fooling myself, because off program is off program.
I will get up tomorrow and be OP!!!! I had already decided to exercise early in the morning. I have set my alarm for 8 am to exercise.

Tina: Youre request to graemlins/bcbkick.gif is approved. Now having given yourself that it sounds like you have a plan. I'm not to sure about this negative banking tho I agree with you that you are setting yourself up for failure.

If it were me I would start with a clean slate and go from there. I have tried to do the catch up thing and it was a disaster for me.

Maybe someone else has some other ideas for you but IMHO thats what I would do. graemlins/thumbup.gif for coming here and being so honest. At least you journaled the PTS. Hope the rest of youre day is great and OP!!!

Oh Tina! graemlins/bcbkick.gif Sounds like you tried the best you could. I don't know if it was good that you watched the chef before you left or if you should have remained blissfully ignorant!? Anyway, when you go out to eat, and you're ordering things that you think will be okay, make sure you're not afraid to ask how something is prepared. Tell them that you would prefer no butter, no cream sauce, etc. At least over here in the States, you can be pushy and get what you want! I think you're wise to attempt some damage control.

You have my permission to graemlins/bcbkick.gif yourself, but also give yourself a graemlins/thumbup.gif for having a plan. If you wanted to try to get rid of some of those extra points, try an extra walk around the block instead of kicking yourself :D Walking helps get rid of your behind instead of bruising it (and you earn APs).

Request to be graemlins/bcbkick.gif , granted! You tried and you had a setback. You are off program, but not intentionally. You didn't go out, planning to go off program. So, like Linda said, NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT! If they want your money, they'll do what you request. I would do an extra 30 min of exercise for the next couple of days and reverse bank about 2-3 pts per day. You Can Do It!

Culture difference here, you can when reservering ask for special adjustments, because of medical problems, but it is extremely rude to tell the chef how you want your food cooked. They believe that is why you go to the restaurant to have someone show you his skills. After saying that I know that my Daddy's chef in Florida, doesn't like it either. He tries to make things low fat when asked, but hates it when it changes the wonderful taste of the food. Another thing you cannot not ask for is a doogy bag in Europe, they think you have lost it. That is why I always share entries or desserts. smile.gif Portion are at smaller here, nothing like what is servered in some of the regular restaurants in the states. They are trying to super size McD's, but it is not really selling very well! Even the McD's, Pizza's, Burger King the portion size are normal here. People are still gaining weight and becoming overweight.

I am not making excuses here, just sharing a few of the cultural differences.

I OP today and have lowered my maximum with 3 points. I will bike at least 15 minutes and do my core exercises.

Tina, good for you for having a plan. Here's a graemlins/bcbkick.gif although I think you may have had enough of those! And a graemlins/bcbsalute.gif graemlins/thumbup.gif for getting back at it. As Sal said, you didn't intentionally go OffP!! Around here, we ask for things the way we want them. Most of the restaurants I go to don't have chefs showing off their skills, it's just the same ol' stuff prepared the way the instructions say, so it's exactly like every other store in the chain. So to ask for no butter or cream, or to have stuff on the side, is no big deal. That makes it easier for people like me who feel self-conscious asking for things "our" way. (But I'm learning!)

Tina, is there really any way you actually ate that much extra? 15 points is 5 tablespoons of butter (by U. S. reckoning). And a lot of the fat that goes into a pan stays there.

I'm not the typical WW, I do not like to make special requests of chefs. I don't go out to eat so I can have naked grilled chicken on lettuce. I want to allow the chef to show off. I want to taste their work. Leaving off the sauce can ruin their presentation - they consider the plate to be a work of art!! So if I go to a good restaurant, I don't make any special requests except perhaps to have my salad dressing on the side, and to share food if possible. I know that I don't have to eat it all. Perhaps the greatest thing I've learned since joining WW is how to allow a restaurant to throw some of my food away. And the best places serve more reasonable portions.

Now at a chain, it's different, I can make some requests because I know the chefs don't have as big a stake in what's being prepared. Some of it comes pre-packaged from Corporate and they just heat it up and serve it. But the main thing, again, is to figure out how much of what's served I'm going to eat, and deal with the rest.

When figuring points, remember that the WW tables are for traditional preparations - not diet-ed down ones. That means the mashed potatoes are made with butter and cream (not skim milk and a touch of butter the way I make them).

Your plan for damage control will work, remember not to go below your minimum on any day. Do the best you can!
