Hello every-one:

I don't know if any-one can help with this but we are going to go down South for about a week to see my parents in Keremeos and then possibly to Vancouver and then to Squamish where I did most of my growing up.

So here's my question does any-one know of any motels in these areas that won't break our bank. I figured about 70.00 to 90.00 a night,(am I dreaming?) having not done this before(we have always camped) I'm not sure what I should be looking for.

You would think being my age I would know more about hotels/motels but like I said we have always camped and when we go for karate tounies. we are usually billeted or some-one else has made reservations.

Should I look for a familiar name or ones that seem to be all over if any of you have any favorites could you let me know. I'm going to go on internet and do some reserch as well.

Thanks in advance. graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Hotel prices vary widely depending on the city and the location within the city. Here's some moderately priced chains I've had good luck with:

Comfort Inn
Days Inn
Holiday Inn
Ramada Inn

Check out their prices on the internet for the locations you're interested in - most are posted. Then call the 800 number because sometimes there's quite a difference between the online price and the phone reservation price - I don't know why. If online is lower, make your reservation that way. Also if someone you know has one of those fundraising coupon books (they're VERY big in the US. All the High Schools sell them every fall), you can find coupons in there with pretty good rates for hotels and rental cars.

Don't forget to check Hotels.com or some of the travel sites like expedia or travelocity. They can give you good info on hotels in the areas you'll be visiting and average prices for rooms too.

The chains that Bethanne listed are all good ones to try. You know what you will get, nothing fancy but clean and well looked after. Days Inn and Comfort Inn may be a little less expensive.

One of the best pieces of advice I can offer is, regardless of what price you book your room at, when you go to check in always ask if they are offering any discounts or specials on their rooms. Apparently, hotels/motels often have deep discounts if they have empty rooms, but they won't offer it unless you ask.
