G'day mates graemlins/wave.gif
I can't beleive the weather, it's grey, wet, windy and friggin' freezing, at the moment it's only 7C (45F) and if it's lucky it's meant to get to 13C (55F). I shouldn't complain because we so desperately need rain, like about 6 months non stop!!!!! Biggest problem is the roads, as so many drivers get used to driving in the dry and forget to change their driving style for wet weather conditions.
Yesterday I bought myself a lovely Japanese teapot and cup to have my nightly chinese tea in, taste so much better in the right stuff. I did have some chinese tea cups but this one is much better quality, well I paid triple the price anyway and matches the teapot.
One of my nieces would like to join Harley and myself in the marathon, could turn out to be a real family affair....lol I think it's great that she is happy to join her aunt!
Tina... DH should be home today graemlins/thumbup.gif
Stamps... graemlins/bcbsalute.gif what a terrific friend you are supporting your friend and their parents, good to see you back again
Cinna... I just love my short hair, especially my new style, short and messy, so easy to look after, and who cares if it's windy.....lol
Charlie... enjoy working out on your gazelle
Jane... how was the new job???? Hopefully the therapist can help fix your knee troubles!
Mardee... I can imagine all the questions you have to fill in to registar, I used to think the forms that the bank had had lots of questions on them, but for your bar, I'm sure they're going to know everything there is to know about you. That organisation you mentioned Dress for Success, sounds great, not sure if we have anything like that down here, but it's a fantastic way of helping out low income women graemlins/thumbup.gif
Grace (promise)... 'fanny' is another word for vagina...........lol It's interesting the differences that we often have, like down here 'spunk' is what Mel Gibson is, a real hunk!!!!!
Grace (duchess)... enjoy your baking!!! Enjoy the visit with your parents.
Nancy... I'm sure your weekend with your parents, will be special, and lots of reminising on your childhood years growing up!!!
Becky... have an ace day!!!
Linda... I think you're on the right track with me building muscle, that's exactly what DH reckons too. All this longer distance power walking works the ol' butt muscles.....lol what a shame that the inside of the butt may be getting firm but the exterior sure has seen better days........lol
Janice... woohooo on breaking your plateau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bethanne... hope you had an absolutely fab day yesterday, filled with friends, family and maybe a pressie or two :D
Joni... I didn't realise that Universal was like Disneyland, thought you just had a tour of movie sets????? Sounds like a great day to me!!
Donna... WTG on the loss!!!!
well that's it folks, time for this little vegemite to get her butt into gear and out the door :D have a grouse one graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Good morning y'all- My supervisor is back and now I can get back to my real job...paperwork(yuk). I walked on the new Gazelle last night and love it! I did about 20 minutes and it wasn't that hard at all. I have to keep a towel handy because I sweat profusely. DW used it for a little while and I brought her a towel to use-she informed me that real women don't sweat they "Glisten". Go figure? Well, the "Glisten" was dripping off of her face....Good work out!
Have a great day!

Hi Buds,
I'm glad I finally remembered a Wednesday night chat. I needed it! I've really been struggling and it helped.
Bizz - Don't you love being at the mercy of drivers who don't have a clue!!! Oh, and I can see why you'd wonder what a "fanny lifter" is!! :D
Charlie - Like your DW, I don't sweat, I "glisten". But I glisten by the bucket-full!! ;)
As always, time to get ready for work. I don't guess I'll be around tomorrow morning, as I have to start extra early to prepare for a meeting. And I have trouble getting in early enough as it is!! Have a great day everybuddie.

Good Morning Buddies. I didn't post yesterday I had my DS's stump on my mind. Tuesday I took him to a bone specialist to make sure the amputation was still healing well and it was the first time that DS has let me see it and I graemlins/sobbing.gif . I couldn't help it. The doctor said that it is healing fine and that DS doesn't need to come back unless something happens. Then he told us that DS can have another surgery to close the gap in his grip. I won't go into any details. graemlins/ugh.gif I thought about it yesterday but I thought with my brain and not with my mouth and food smile.gif . I hope everyone has a great day. smile.gif Cynthia
Bizz:What is the time difference from Australia and here? I know when DS was in Germany that Germany was seven hours ahead of us.
Charlie C.:I like DW's answer to sweat! :D I am going to start saying that I glisten(I need spell check :D )when I sweat.
I know that there was one more but can't for the life of me remember who it was. So I hope that you have a GREAT day ;)

Good Morning All graemlins/wave.gif ,
Was so busy yesterday I didn't even get back to post. Started out with a run to Einstein's Bagels at 0600 for the PT crew (I had promised them) and then the exterminator came for the monthly spray. I was then off to PT and came home to nap and then WI last night. At least I stayed the same, which is better than the usual gain. My leader wants me to cut some carbs, which I had already done, but will shave some more and see. SOMETHING has got to work. I had 17 leftover points this week, most of them APs, so I may try to eat some of them.
Well, time for breakfast so I can go to PT again. May see if they have a H20 aerobics class today too.
Have a great day everybuddy!

Good morning all,
I am earlier than usual. I got up at 6:45 this am, dh thought I was sick. I just couldn't sleep anymore, and for me that is so strange. I have been having such a hard time getting up, but not this am. Wonder what is up!
Just another day here at work, although I was about an hour earlier than normal.
Tonight I think I am going to go to another auction, I really want an older big dining room table. They have been going to high, that I haven't gotten one yet. But there is another one tonight. Our kitchen table chairs are just falling apart, so I want to move my dining room table, a oak pedestal table, into the kitchen and get a table that seats about 10 in the dining room.
This weekend looks to be a very busy one too. If it doesn't rain I am gonig to my mom's there is an auction just a block away from her house. (my parents live about an hour away) Can you tell I love to auction! Then Sunday, we take DD#1 to church camp, about 4 hours away. We are then driving two hours to meet my cousin that is taking DD#2, back home with her for the week, to Minneapolis/St. Paul. DH and I are going to spend the night in a hotel, and find a golf course and play on Monday. maybe spend another night or drive home Monday night. I am off work til Thursday. It will be nice to have some alone time with DH, and have both girls gone for a week. Yippeeeee Plus they will both have a really good time.
Well, I better get to these piles of paper.
Have a great day.

Good morning buddies,
I got confused and thought yesterday was Thursday, so we did all the laundry for the weekend (tonight's chore) last night. I guess I really want Friday to get here this week! I miss my dd.
Bizz, my parents moved out of my childhood home in 1980, after I was out of grad. school and gone and all my sibs were out of HS. They've been in this house a long time, it's the only one the grandkids know, but it's never been my home. I will miss having them a 3 hr. drive away - now it will be a very long day unless we fly.
And I can imagine what you must of thought of our "fanny lifter." Ooh la la!!
Charlie, I learned a saying a long time ago. Horses sweat, men perspire, and women glisten. tongue.gif
I hope everyone has a great OP day!

Good morning! Notice the GOOD! Well, weather-wise anyway. The temp dropped to 53 last night, so I got almost a full night of heavenly sleep. The other part of the night I was awake thinking about the meeting of the Liturgy committee at church that I had just been to that evening. As you know, our priest retired and we got a new guy a few weeks ago. I have tried hard to like him, but I finally decided this morning to resign from the liturgy committee (I was responsible for the readers) and move to the parish closer to my home. I am so upset about this, but I think it is God's will. We have been working on an installation service for the new priest -- an occasion that happens when you get a new guy. Well, it turns out that all the things we have in the church are wrong (according to Father Rick). We need new vestments, new bowls for the hosts, we need crystal stemware for the wine instead of the gold chalices that the youth group bought for the church when we were last in Rome. Our candles are the wrong size -- never mind that they fit the candle holders that the kids bought for the church while in Rome on a previous occasion and that we have six boxes of candles that fit those candle holders! We even got down to leaving the meeting hall last night and going over to the church to rearrange the sanctuary because our previous priest had it set up "all wrong." Well, change is good, and change is inevitable, but I don't feel it's good to do it while deriding the person who came before you, especially when that person was so dear to my heart. I mailed my letter of resignation and my transfer to St. Mary's this morning. :( I pledge to sit in the back row and not become involved in the politics of the church. I guess this is what many people don't like about organized religion. My heart is broken. graemlins/sobbing.gif
Well, enough ranting - I will survive this I'm sure.
Biz - honey, we need to buy you a calendar! You've had me mixed up all week! Today is the 24th! I'm sorry it's so chilly there, but glad you are getting the badly needed rain. Be careful of the idiots on the roads!
Charlie - glad you like the Gazelle. Your DW is soooo right! We don't sweat, that would be too unladylike!
Grace - it was good to chat with you last night too! I think we're all experiencing a Dog Days of Summer wilt!
LuvnLoozn - oh I'm so sorry about your son's hand. Sounds like it was more involved than just losing part of a finger. God bless you both.
Mary - glad you were keeping busy yesterday! Sounds like you like your PT crew. I had a great physical therapist after my first accident. After the second one, I either had the torture specialist or the wimp. No happy medium.
Becky - I hate to say it, but it might be that getting older thing. I always used to have trouble getting out of bed. Now I'm awake about an hour before the alarm goes off. Depending on whether it's a work day or not is whether I want to get up or not! I'll bet you can guess what goes with what! tongue.gif I love to go to auctions too. I never end up buying anything, but I love to look. I love antiques especially.
Nancy - I'm more than ready for Friday too. I'll bet it will be nice to have your DD back home again!
Well all. Best dive into my work and get my mind off my woes. It helped to get it out of my system here. Thanks for listening!

Good Morning all!
I woke up this morning to OH NO the achy knee syndrome  . I did my Firm Super Cardio last nite and I could feel my knees complaining so I toned down some of the higher impact stuff. The jogging and running in place really bothered me. This morning its really feeling yukky. It probably is from the 20 some flights of stairs that I walked up at Universal Hollywood on Tuesday. I'm just hoping its not the start of something . . .erghghg. For now Motrin here I come!!!
I'm off tomorrow to go help my sister organize my Dad's house. He's away on vacation and it was our Father's day present to him! He is a pack rat and not very good at organizing. Hopefully, we can make a dent and surprise him with a nice organized house upon his return!!
Bizz: You had me ROFL!!! excuse me I'm going to lift my er uh "fanny"!!! I guess if the Firm markets their product in Australia they have to call it a different name!!!!
Grace: Keep hanging on!!!
Mary: Keep experimenting. . . something will work eventually! A maintain is much better than a gain!!
Nancy: Wow you are so organized! You are already for the weekend. Maybe thats a good trend! Get the laundry out of the way so you don't have to deal with it on the weekends!
Charlie: I've always wondered how well the gazelle works. Have you tried the leaning forward one? That looks really hard to sustain for very long. . .
Hi! Everyone else!!! Have a great day!

Joni -
For the type of problem you're having, you need to remember RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation! I injured my knee during the Avon walk, but kept it wrapped for a few days (actually got one of those Ace wraps you pull on), iced it frequently, kept it elevated when I could and didn't go gung-ho on the walking for several days. I'm as good as new. Just got to take care of it a bit. The motrin is a great idea too!

Hey Linda - missed you in midcyber space!!!
Sorry to hear about your struggles with Parish. I suppose maybe the new Father feels a little out of place and is trying to make the church "his". Really though it might be less offensive to the long timers if he waited a while. . . Hopefully the closer church will feel better to you. . .
Wasn't it suppose to be in the hundreds in oregon? 53 is a big relief!!
Hang in there and have a good day!

Good afternoon -- I finally got around to posting today. I was rushing around this morning cleaning my house. I'm meeting a friend after work for dinner, and she's going to drop me off afterwards since I took the bus. This will be the first time she's seen my house, so I wanted it to look halfway decent. smile.gif
I'm trying to decide if I want to spring for a laser printer. I have an inkjet, but the darned cartridges are so expenses that I've already invested more in the ink than I did in the original printer. I'd get the refillable ones, but I don't have any time to do it. I found an HP Laserjet 1000 on the net for $150, which seems a pretty good price -- now I just have to decide if I want to pay the bucks. <sigh>
Better get back to work -- hope y'all are having a great day!

Hello every-one:
Well our weather sure took a turn, and I don't mean for the better. The clouds are almost black and it's only 11* this morning. After the high temps we were having I'm sitting here freezing. Well I just looked out and it is raining  DH and I were going to go for a day trip on the mororcycle I guess we will see if it clears up. I really hope so.
Not much else going on here today except I'm kinda worried about the forest fire burning in Washington as they are saying this morning that they are pretty sure it is going to jump the Canadian border which is right by Keremeos and that is where my DP's live. I'm going to try and phone them in a little while to see if they know any more. DF is still having a heck of a time with the infection in his foot the antibiotics don't seem to be even touching it, not sure what the next step will be, but I do know that he is sure getting very frustrated. He's on morphine for the pain and can't walk without help so he is pretty much in bed most of the time. Youre prayers for him would be greatly appreciated, I just hate being so far away. :(
Bizz: I never even noticed the wrong date I have lost track of time this week anyways.
Charlie C: Youre DW is right women dont sweat we glisten. DH says YA RIGHT we just hide it better.
Mary: What does the sprayer come to exterminate every month?
Becky: I dont seem to be able to sleep as long as I think I should any more graemlins/sleep.gif
Nancy: Glad to hear I'm not the only one who is confused with the days of the week. :confused:LOL
Linda: I'm sorry to hear about all youre problems with church. Maybe it would have been better if he had tried to make small changes slowly instead of going in like gangbusters. I hope this change is just what you need.
Joni: Enjoy youre time with youre sister even if it is to work at youre dad's house.
Mardee: Sounds like not a bad price on the printer here they are around $300.00.
Well it is pouring rain now so I think the ride is out for the day DARN IT!!!! graemlins/sobbing.gif
Hope every-one had a great OP day.

Good morning Fab's!

Needless to say it's been a hectic week around here, but I am so excited as I will be meeting FirstCavwife (Dawn) and IceSkatefanrn (Karen) on this trip!!!!! We will have a blast I am sure!!! I am bringing my laptop, so I will check in Monday or Tues...(I'll miss chat Weds as we will be on the road heading up to OKC)..and then again Thurs or Friday.....I am hoping once we are back from vacation that things calm down around here, and I will have more time here instead of only being able to pop in every few days...I feel lost...and don't stand a chance to get caught up with everyone at this point....
Until next week, adios....skinny vibes all around the house !!!!

Hello Fabs!
It was really fun catching so many of you on chat last night. I feel so “connected!”
I’m feeling much better – no longer shaking at the sight of the damage to my car.
Today was weigh in day. Oops. Up .2…. I’ve been totally OP—probably retaining water…. I hope.
Kids are driving me nuts. They’ve been fighting like cat and dog since coming home from camp 2 hours ago. If they keep it up, I’m going to have to cut some carrots…..
Oh, I finally made that Deli Chicken in my crock pot. It was very good. However, I can’t believe that foil is the only way to go! Being very leary of eating anything that sits in aluminum foil for any length of time, and being a habitual “tweaker” of recipes, I’ve decided to play around with this one. I’ll keep anyone who’s interested posted on my experiments! First I’m going to find a substitute for the foil, and then, I’m going to use my own seasonings!.....
Well ladies and Charlie, I need to attend to my two mini Amazon warriors in training….the shrieking is getting pretty intense.
I really loved chatting last night. I’m going to make a real effort to get the kids to bed early on Weds. Eve’s from now on!
Everyone have an OP rest of the day.
Best,
Zaybe

Afternoon buds!
I've finally got the house in ship shape, got myself showered and dressed, the lasagna made and ready to go into the oven and just waiting for my folks to call and say they're here. They're definitely going to be in for a surprise as last time they were here it was 70F and they complained about the cold. I was running my heater and fireplace at full throttle for them. Today it's a sweltering 98F and the A/C is having a hard time keeping up.
I enjoyed chat last night...gives me the opportunity to get to know everyone a little better. I'll be looking forward to next Wednesday's!
Zaybe I would love to know how your deli chicken tweaking goes ;) I want to try this also, but need to get an oval crock as both the crocks I have are round. I read that someone used halved potatoes in the bottom instead of the foil. Halved onions would work well too, I imagine.
WI tomorrow...any spare SV's lying around?
hugs, prayers & **{sv}} to all~

Hi guys. I'm very stressed today. I'm coordinating some information for my boss's boss, but there are so many people on vacation that I'm not getting anywhere. I hate doing anything that I don't feel is up to standards, and this definitely isn't even if it's not my fault. Oh well, we have a conference call about it tomorrow morning and I'll just have to do the best I can in the meantime. I'll tell you, this has been one very lonnnnnnggggg week.
Hope you all have a better day than I'm currently having. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hi gals (and Charlie)! It's been a day of doing the stuff I love to do -- shopping for computers! :D We have a new faculty member who is into a lot of heavy research and I just ordered her 3, count 'em, 3 computers! What fun I was having. This woman is going to be cooking with some major gas! The one with the most bang for the buck is a Dell Precision Workstation with two Xeon processors and two 80GB hard drives. That pup will handle some serious data. Now I have to go order her some software. I love getting paid to shop, even if it's not for me!
Mardee - one of our faculty has an HP 1000. He likes it, but the toner for those is spendy too. Kind of six of one and half a dozen of the other so to speak. At least you change the laser cartridges less often.
Janice - sending some prayers for your dad! Having had three surgeries on my right ankle, I know how awful it is not to be able to stand up and walk. I hope they find the right antibiotic for him soon!
Trish - have a great time and tell Ice to get her butt back in the wagon! I'm missing her!
Zaybe - I do love chat too. We've made some really good friends in that chat room. I have a little rack that came in my pressure cooker that would probably fit very well in my crockpot. Maybe that would be the way to avoid the aluminum!
Lisa - enjoy your visit with the folks and try to stay cool. It's mid-80s here today, but supposed to get hot(ter) again tomorrow! Sheesh!

Hi again All graemlins/wave.gif ,
Time for a couple of personals. Just got home from lunch with Mike (DS#1), it is good just to spend some time alone with him.
Lindalou Oh my goodness  , didn't anyone teach that priest that when you go to a new place to tread lightly and get the "lay of the land" before you make changes and THEN you make changes slowly and only small ones to start??? Sounds like he could use some major education in manners and management. Maybe someone could leave a copy of "Who Moved my Cheese" annoymously. I am sure you are right and God has more plans for you at the new parish. :D
Janice (Chrysilis) the exterminator come once a month to spray mainly for crickets. If you don't have crickets (scorpion food) then you don't have scorpions-but he sprays for these too. It has been so dry here that the neighbors saw a 4 ft rattle snake coming from my area (OUTSIDE the 5' block wall) and going into the desert behind us. They won't hurt you unless you corner them, so I have to keep an eye on the dog this time of year.

Lisa! I've been giving this chicken some serious thought!--- But first have to tell you that I made mine in my round crock pot and the chicken fit into it perfectly and it came out fine.
I don't think onions would work because they get too soft when cooked. I think the idea of the foil is to keep the chicken elevated out of the gravy (grease). Potatoes are a good idea.-- I would probably use whole ones though to make sure they stayed firm enough to support the chicken....
Thanks for the idea. I'll let you know sometime next week how the potatoes worked!
Lindalou-- Ok, so if the potatoes don't work, I'm going to have to try something else. I don't have a small enough rack to fit into my crocker-- Dawn suggested I use metal whisks, but the ones I own are too big for my round crock pot. What do you think of using an inverted (small) bowl?
I can't believe how much time I've spent thinking about this chicken recipe! I need to get a life!
Best,
Zaybe
