View Full Version : Hump Day ~ 22nd July
G'morning babes graemlins/wave.gif
was a bit disppointed with WI last night, although I did loss 1#, after all the effort I put in I was really hoping for a 2-3# loss, oh well there's always next week :D
Got myself a few 'Alessi' things last week, just love that stuff, definately 'I want' and not 'I need' things :D Am going to buy the Japanese squat cast iron teapot I've been eyeing off for sometime today! Talk about disappointed, we have a Canadian girl at work, and I was talking to her about the supposed gigantic shopping centre there, and how I've always wanted to visit, her response, 'why, you've got more and better shops here where we work, only thing that makes Edmonten large is the roller coaster etc..' devasted I am......lol
It's actually drizzling this morning, and today is the start of stage 2 water restrictions, yep, typical Melbourne, drought during winter, usually a drought all year long, very dry country down here, amazing really when we're not that far from the Antartica!!!!!!
Jane... how exciting!!!!!!!
Mardee... I'm really enjoying reading the 'Okinawa Way' have learnt a few small things that I can incorporate into my diet, and you girl are way on the right track, keep eating all that soy, they reckon that's one of the reasons that these women rarely suffer with hormonal cancers and menopause isn't as bad for them as westerners! Eat lots of soy!!!!! I bought my first soy thing last week, dehydrated stuff, made a chilli dish with it, it tasted ok, but I didn't like the texture of it, like mincemeat. Bought some tofu yesterday, just gotta go through the recipes books to see a way I may like it cooked. Any suggestions????
Grace... what is a 'fanny lifter'???? made me laugh, as what you call a fanny ans what we call one is two different things!
Sal... both you and I got our babies exercising with us! BTW how's Mike getting on, and Mikey, he's had a real traumatic past few months graemlins/kiss.gif
June... WTG on the loss, and yes, any loss is a good loss!!!!!
Linda... you make me laugh, you really don't like the heat do you??? Me I crave it, I can't stand winter! Your summer overnight temps are what our day temps are during winter!!! I think that the acupuncture maybe just starting to make the slightest of differences, I figure though I've suffered with chronic sinusitis for 20 years it sure ain't gonna clear up in a matter of weeks!
Janice... my DH worked the graveyard for years, took awhile for both me and the kids getting used to having him around all the time when he changed over to more 'normal' hours! But now I'd hate for him to go back to those hours again!
Debbie... WTG on the loss graemlins/thumbup.gif

Hi Fab 40s I just got back in town. I was in California visiting my family I had a great time considering the circumstances of my visit. Two of my good friend's parents were diagnosed are gravely ill so I went to spend some time with them. Got a little off track eating but I am back in the saddle. I will probably have a 1-2lb gain. I am off for a jog before work.
Bizz: Congrats on your WI. Thats great anything with a minus sign is good.
Tina: Thats great about your husband coming hoome.
Gram: Please send me some vibes for WI Saturday.

Good morning ya'll,
Today is another day of same old, same old, except we will have highs in the 80's and low humidity. It seems there is a rare cold front here from Canada, and will stay for a few days.
I ended up getting my haircut a little shorter. It's just so much easier in the summer to have short hair. This new style is a wash n go.
I'm going in early again today, so I need to get moving.
Everyone have a great day.

Hello Everyone! Nothing much going on here-except working(again). We bought a "Gazelle" (Tony Little)- it arrived yesterday. Hope to get it put together today and start using it. Maybe I'll look like him one day? Have a great day!

Good morning, buddies! Today will be very busy at work, then I leave and start a new counseling job--one I'm looking forward to doing and will take up a minimum of time (I hope)--just one afternoon a week for now, but it will give me some experience other than what I have now.
I ate all my points available yesterday and think it's because I let myself have sugar/empty carbs and that's just hard to stop. So today I'm back to no sugar.
I started PT yesterday. The therapist says the knee pain is probably from my hips being rotated wrong and we we'll be working on ab strengthening. The dr. said it could be the same thing and it's irritating my miniscus (still can't spell it). Anyway, I'm optimistic!
I'm going to try to get some housework done before I run this a.m.
Biz, I'm sorry about your disappointment, but 1 pound sounds great to me right now!
Tina, be sure to take care of yourself while you take care of your DH!
Stamps, glad you're back on track!
Cinna, I'll bet your haircut is adorable! You've got the facial features to pull it off, too!
Well, off to the races!

Good morning! Last night I started the tedious process of filling out my bar application. It's slow going, and they want an incredible amount of detail. And this is just the Application to REGISTER! There is still an actual application that I will have to send in once the bar exam gets closer.
Yesterday at lunch I ran into a resale shop downtown run by the organization, Dress for Success. This group, which some of you may have heard of, helps low-income women by getting them the clothes they need to interview when they're ready to enter the job market -- and they get the clothes through donations. So now they're selling the surplus at resale shops. I found some incredible bargains yesterday! I got 2 wool blazers, an Eddie Bauer dress, a J. Jill sweeater, a Smith & Hawken linen shirt, a Chicos jumper, a cotton tunic-top and a pair of dress slacks for around $35! I was very happy!
BIZZ: Congrats on the loss! The Okinawa Program does sound very interesting -- I've reserved it online at the library, so I'm hoping I can pick it up in the next couple of days.
TINA: I'm glad your DH is coming home, but I'm sorry the news wasn't good. Keep your chin up -- I'm sure the waiting is the worst part.
STAMPS: I'm sorry about your friend's parents, but I'm glad you had a nice visit with them and your family.
CINNA: I'm sure your haircut is adorable! It's weird for me having long hair now -- mine was short for so long.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Charlie and Jane, just missed you!
Charlie, I hope you never look like Tony Little! I think he's very strange looking. smile.gif
Jane, I've found the same thing happens to me with the sugar, so I've pretty much gotten rid of it. Good luck with the PT counseling job -- it sounds like just the thing for you!

Hi Buds,
Those stupid doughnuts got the best of me yesterday, but I came home and gave myself some much-needed graemlins/bcbkick.gif graemlins/bcbkick.gif by doing a Cathe Friedrich 1 hour step video. For a while, I actually found myself considering chucking it all and going back to the old ways. I wanted to dive into a vat of food in the worst way. I don't know where that came from, but it scared the crap out of me. I had a terrible attitude that needed some serious adjusting. Thus, the step video, which helped. I think my head is on straight now, but just to be sure, I'm signing on to BCB when I get to work in case I need another attitude adjustment (read: graemlins/bcbkick.gif graemlins/bcbkick.gif !!) On the up-side, this is exactly where I would have given up and quit, gaining back the weight and ending up heavier than when I started, but I'm not. I'm back at it.
Bizz - The fanny lifter is the 2 part step used in the Firm videos off the infomercial. What does "fanny" mean where you are?
Tinatulips - Continued prayers for you and DH.
Stamps - Welcome home!!
Cinna - I love short hair! I have wash & go hair too, and it's so much easier. I try to grow it out sometimes, but never make it.
Charlie - Let us know how you like the Gazelle!
Jane - After the doughnut episode yesterday, I am thinking seriously about the no-sugar thing. I may have to get back on that wagon too.
Mardee - Cool about the clothes!! What a great deal.
Now off to get ready for work. Have a great day!

Good morning everybuddy,
It's been a busy one and no signs of slowing down yet. Monday I made my dinner menu and shopping list for the week. I wanted to come up with some "nice" dinners that were point friendly as I have MY parents coming for a visit this week! Looks like everyone's going to visit during the same month rather than spread it out through the year. Did my shopping on Monday too and made a great find...Alternative Bagels! Right next to my low carb La Tortilla tortillas! I guess I've been overlooking them all this time graemlins/crazy.gif
Yesterday I started the cleaning process - once again from the top and working my way downstairs,
wishing now that I had a "ranch" style home!
Today it's off to the counselors with DS, finish up around here and if there's time I need a haircut. My parents fly in tomorrow afternoon so I will be getting my turkey lasagna florentine ready for the oven in the morning.
Bizz - after being up last week, a 1 lb. loss looks really good to me!
Tina - ((hugs)) & prayers to you and DH.
Stamps - sorry to hear about your friends parents.
Cinna - could you send some of that Canadian air this way, please?
Charlie - I'd love to have a gazelle, but with my history of exercise equipment I think DH would be afraid of it becoming a clothes hanger graemlins/crazy.gif
Jane - I think it's meniscus...my DH tore one in his knee years ago. Ouch!
Mardee - now that's my kind of bargains!
Grace - graemlins/bcbkick.gif graemlins/bcbsalute.gif
hugs, prayers & **{SV}} to all!

Good morning buddies,
We made plans to go visit my parents this weekend, it will be their last in their NJ home. We expect the place to be in "moving chaos" but from what my parents said they seem really organized. They will have the trash people out to pick up big stuff (much of the furniture I grew up with) this week, and also the charity people will come get the stuff they want, and it's already all sorted. At 77 they are planning to buy new living room and bedroom furniture! We will head down there Saturday morning. We pick up dd at camp Friday afternoon.
Tina, you and your dh are still in my prayers.
Bizz, a "fanny lifter" is a 2-part square aerobics step, one piece is 8" (20cm), one is 6" (15cm), and you can stack them to get 14" (35cm). The main uses for the 14" step are leg press (slow stepping up and down, with or without weights), and to sit on for upper body work. They use the shorter steps for step aerobics sequences and some other stuff, and the 8" step can substitute for the tall step for beginners.
Stamps, I'm also sorry to hear about your friends' parents, good for you supporting them.
Charlie, I agree with Mardee, you don't need to look like Tony Little. A fit and trim Charlie is what you're going for, I think.
Jane, good luck with the sugar.
Mardee, why is a part of me not surprised that the pile of paperwork involved in getting to be a lawyer is so high? I had to sign a release at the golf course because I didn't get transported to the ER (for my bruise). You'll get through it. It sounds worse than my application for a Top Secret clearance, though. That pile was about 1/2 inch thick. They have a Dress for Success here too, I've been meaning to give them some of my clothes. Not that they don't fit (I can wear some again), but if I dressed like that for work people would look at me funny.
Grace, good work getting back up on the wagon! Now direct some of that anger to planning and remember it is important to include foods that you love.
I hope everyone has a great OP day!

Good morning.
It is cool here this morning, I think it was about 57 when I got up. supposed to warm up nicely into the low 80's, sunshine and beautiful blue sky. Too bad I am at work!
I took the girls to see Pirates of the Carribean last night. DD#2 didn't want to go, but was glad that she did. She thought it was going to be too scary. We all enjoyed it.
Well, I am in a rush, better get a move on. Have a wonderful day.

Morning Buddies! A little late checking in today. It is, apparently, Windows XP update day. There were two critical updates that downloaded in about 3 seconds, but then took about 10 minutes each to install. I went off to find other things to do while they were installing as I HATE WAITING! We've had a cold front move in -- it's only supposed to be 90 today instead of 97! tongue.gif I am not happy with this at all! Only got down to 64 last night, but with some fans, I did manage to cool the house down to 71 degrees. Hopefully, it will be tolerable when I get home today. Yesterday was not fun.
Biz - you're probably going through the thing where you're building muscle, which is more dense than fat. In a few weeks, you'll most likely see a big difference. It just takes a little longer. I'd swap weather with you any day. I can't bear the heat.
Tina - glad to hear your DH will be coming home. Sorry the news was not good, but I hope that it could have been worse means that he has some treatment options available. You hang in there darlin'! We're here for you!
Sue - welcome back. Time to climb right back up on that wagon.
Cinna - I think I'm gonna have my stylist take off about an inch all around next time I go in. My hair seems to be growing like a house-afire since I cut it!
Charlie - I'm with Mardee on this one! Tony Little is one weird looking little dude! His products are great, but he is a strange man. I just hope using his gazelle doesn't mean that you start yelling all the time! He and that Billy Mays guy who does the Oxyclean commercials drive me nuts with their yelling!
Jane - I tried eating oatmeal one morning (I mix one packet of the flavored with one packet of the plain) -- I could have eaten the paint off the walls all day long. I just can't have any refined carbs. I think the oatmeal was okay, but the flavored stuff does have some sugar in it. So, will you be starting to plan the wedding on Sunday? ;)
Mardee - way to go on the sale items! I'm in the market for something to wear to my niece's wedding next month, but really don't know what to get. It will be terribly hot and humid on Cape Cod in August, and the bat wings are in no shape for sleevelss. Just don't know what to get!
Grace - graemlins/bcbkick.gif well, at least you did no whining and took steps to get right back up on the horse that threw you! You know how doughnuts taste! They weren't worth it, were they? Glad you got back into the wagon!
Lisa - ooo! Turkey Lasagna Florentine sounds yummy! I always find grilled salmon or other fish a nice up-scale, point-friendly thing to have. With some salad and grilled veggies, you can have a real feast!
Nancy - how cool that your parents are gonna spring for some new stuff. At their age, they deserve something new and nice. Plus, it will make the move so much easier!
Becky - glad to hear you liked the Pirates movie. I think I will take my niece to see it. She fell in love with Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Lord of the Rings, and she also thinks Johnnie Depp is pretty hot (actually, I do too, but he is WEIRD! -- probably why my niece likes him!).
Well kids, off to get more work done. I brought the notebook in today to see if one of the faculty can help me with the wireless -- he's got wireless everything, so hopefully, he can work some magic!
Love to all!

Hi every-one:
I did it graemlins/crazy.gif I did it graemlins/crazy.gif I finally got past that 131 plateau. I'm at 130 now. Well its only 1 lb but I have been fighting this 1 lb for about 5weeks. I guess all that scrubbing has paid off some.
Well yesterday I was going to delay the scrubbing but I actually felt guilty about doing nothing so I got out the bucket and brushes and did about 2 hours. At least the kitchen is done. DH was not impressed  when he came in and saw me balancing between the ladder and the counter but hey there was no other way to reach the wall.
Well so far we havent heard to much else about DH job and who is going to buy the railway I just wish it was done this waiting is getting pretty stressful for DH.
We have had a couple of real hot days here and I am just loving it. Suppose to be around 30*today YA HOO.
Bizz: I dont know what a normal shift would be like any-more its been so many years with this one. As for West Edmonton Mall I guess my sense of direction is not that great because I got lost in it and wasnt sure how to find the right exit to find our car???? WTG on the loss way better than a plus.
Tina: I'm glad youre DH is coming home it will make it easier for you in that you wont have to travel back and forth to hospital anymore. Sorry to here the news was not great tho, keep us informed how things are going.
Cinna: Is'nt short hair great for the summer.
Charlie C: Enjoy your new machine.
Mardee: Sounds like you got some great bargins. We also have a Dress for success here what a great idea that is.
Grace: graemlins/bcbkick.gif letting the donut get the better of you and graemlins/bcbsalute.gif for doing the One Step video and WTG for not jumping into that Vat of food.
Lisa: I have been wishing we had a rancher for about the last TWO WEEKS!!! To many walls. Good for you planning all those meals thats some thing I have to start doing more often.
Nancy: Have a great visit with youre parents.
Gram: Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Zaybee: I'm so glad to hear you were not physically hurt and that the kids were not with you. Are you very sore today? Take care.
Well better go I've some dusting and dishes waiting for me but NO WALLS today I"M POOPED graemlins/sleep.gif today.

Morning Fabs! graemlins/wave.gif
And a fine birthday morning it is too! As I said in the other thread, I just love my birthday :D So I'm sitting here at my desk listening to The Who: Getting In Tune - one of my all time favorite songs and chatting with my friends.
It doesn't get better than that Fabs! Every day is a gift graemlins/kiss.gif
WI wasn't super last night up .2, but it wasn't terrible either and let's face it: this time last year I was nearly 60lbs fatter and 60 lbs sadder, right?
Charlie - Tony Little is totally bizzare  Hope you can make chat tonight!
Mardee - SCORE! on the clothes graemlins/thumbup.gif We have that program here too - I think it's absolutely super!
Tina - you and DH are always in my prayers
love you all buds

Hey all!
Its almost noon here and I'm still trying to wake up! Had a late night and did not want to wake up! My sister and I took my nephew to Universal Studios Hollywood yesterday. The weather was perfect (just a tad hot). The forecast was for mid 90's, but we got a cloud cover and it was mid 80's smile.gif It was very crowded for a Tuesday and boy is that place NOISY! Every where you go . . . it's loud! I'm a disney-aholic! Don't get me wrong we had fun, but it's no disneyland! We got to see the new Shrek 4-D and got soaked on Jurassic park ride! and went to a lot of other shows. I did (almost) great food wise! My sis and I split a chicken plate at the El Pollo restaurant there. I ate only chicken (removed the skin) and beans. I passed up the fudge store, the cinnabons, the candy store, the ice cream store, the churros, the "you name it!" store and decided on a treat in the afternoon - a soft frozen lemonade ( I thought that can't be too bad?). I figure maybe 4 points . . . well    from the info I can find I think it is more like 8 points. 8 points for a slush???? Can that be right? YIKES I won't do that again?
If any of you have been to Universal, you know about the upper and lower lot. Well, they have the biggest escalator I have ever seen along with stairs. I don't know the elevation drop but it is pretty dramatic. We decided to climb the stairs all the way to the top. I swear it must be 20 - 25 (a guess??) flights of stairs split by three landings. I figured I worked out a few calories from that stupid frozen lemonade.
My briefing went well on Monday! I'm just happy it's over! Done for another month! YAY!
Now I just have to stay awake for the rest of the day!
Have a great day!

Hi, guys. WI today, and I was down 1.2 lbs. This is great because I wasn't sure if I would be down and because it finally drops me into the 150's. I love dropping into a new set of '10s'. I guess the extra exercise paid off.
On the bad side, I've got a bit of a stomach ache. I know it's from the cherries in the homemade fruit salad I had at lunch. What is it about cherries that gives me a gut ache, when no other fruit does it? Too bad because I love fresh cherries so I'll probably keep eating them and put up with the stomach.
My boss is having a BBQ at her house tonight for a bunch of employees so DH and I are going there after I get home from work. She's having hamburgers and chicken burgers, so I'll opt for a chicken burger and it sounds like there will be salad and veggie trays. Shouldn't be hard to stay OP.
Well, gotta go, work is still keeping me busy. Hope you all have a great day.

Hi, just checking in. Was on vacation all last week and have been running on the ratrace treadmill since I've been back. Vacation was wonderful. Drove down to Cape May, NJ. I ate as well as I could, for what's available. Jogged or walked every morning and walked all over the place during the day. Went to the lighthouse and walked up 199 steps. Legs feel really great. Got a little crispy in a few areas that I missed with the sunscreen but I've got real good color wearing my bikini (I wore a wrap for the bottom--just not ready to totally expose that, but the top looked great). Came home and for the next 2 days was doing laundry and vacuuming graemlins/ugh.gif .
I've been back to work, running DD to and from summer recreation, and had the kids stuck in the house in the afternoon because of the scattered T-storms we've been having. :( I'm pooped graemlins/ugh.gif . But I go to bed and wake up the next day to a fresh start. Haven't had a chance to check the past posts so I do hope everyone is well. Will pop back soon.
