Hey Buddies...I am going out to a Japanese Restaurant for dinner on Wednesday night...I have never been to one, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a low point meal option...I do not have any FP's left so please keep that in mind when making recommendations...I have recently recommitted to being POP, so I don't want to fall off track with one dinner outing...
TIA!! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif

Here are some suggestions:
Miso soup - 2 points (1 cup, which is about the serving size)
Sashimi (raw fish, no rice) - 4 pieces 1 point (salmon or mackeral are 2 points for 4 pieces)
Sushi (veg and rice rolled in seaweed) - 4 pieces are 1 point
Sushi (fish over rice) - 4 pieces are 3 points
Sushi (fish and rice rolled in seaweed) - 4 pieces are 2 points
Beef teriyaki - 2 slices (4 oz) is 7 points
Chicken teriyaki - 2 slices (4 oz) is 6 points
Fish teriyaki - 4 oz is 4 points
If you've never had sushi, go for the chicken or fish teriyaki - it's really tasty. Sushi can be an acquired taste, and you want it to be a good dinner. smile.gif

Japanese food is usually pretty good when it comes to points. I would watch out for the tempura though! I love that stuff, but it's battered and fried, so you can imagine how heavy on points it is!

Try Edaname (soybeans in their pod) they are just steamed. I also like kappa maki (cucumber rolls). Make sure to ask if they use mayo in their Rolls because that raises the pt value.

Has anyone ever had Hibachi Japanese food? I heard that hibachi shrimp and vegetables was good...does anyone have any idea how many points are in this?
TIA...Boombie

Depends on how they cook it. If it's one of those places where they cook the food in front of you, be careful, because they add a TON of butter and/or oil. I'm not sure how they prepare it when it's grilled, though.

Sushi is my favorite "I am super hungry but don't have lots of points" food! I can have 12 maki rolls for about 6 points! And that's a lot of maki!
If you are new to Sushi, start with maki rolls. The amount of fish in them is very small and usually comes with rice, scallions, cucumbers, etc. You can get smoked salmon maki or shrimp so if you are worried about raw fish, go that route. California rolls have crab meat, cucumbers and avacados. Branch out as you get more adventurous. I swore that I hated sushi but my DH got me into it a couple years ago. I love it now!!

If you want some veggies with your meal, you may want to try spinach gomaee. It is steamed spinach with a miso (sesame) paste dressing which I think is very yummy. I'd get the dressing on the side.
I also like yakitori which are small skewers of teriyaki chicken without skin, just go easy on the sauce.
Drink lots of green tea. It's supposed to be good for your digestion.
