this prob isnt the best place to post but I was afraid if i put it in food and pt issues it wouldn't get noticed. I had about 1/5th of a C of chicken salad today I think (based on # of teaspoons i scooped out of container) and the container did not have a label. I've been to sites like dotties, www.nutritiondata.com, (http://www.nutritiondata.com,) and www.calorieking.com, (http://www.calorieking.com,) and for the life of me I cannot figure out the aprox # of pts. HELP
TIA

That's less than 2 ounces of chicken which averages 1 point per ounce. MasterCook says 1/4 cup chicken is 74 calories, 0 fiber, 5 grams fat for 1.89 pounds rounded up to 2 points. The killer would be the mayo or whatever they used to make it a salad. If I was guessing points, I'd err on the high side and call it 4 points minimum then add for the bread or crackers if you consumed any.

I am very bad at guessing portion sizes and i am very weary of this so let me give you more info. Today is the start of my week. Having all my FP I thought I'd have a little splurge for dinner. 5 mini bagels w/tuna salad and a bag of baked lays. Tuna salad is listed on www.nutritiondata.com (http://www.nutritiondata.com) , but for some reason chicken salad isn't. How do they compare? I ended up getting chicken salad instead. For 1C tuna salad it says 383cal & 19g fat. I ended up only being able to eat 3 mini bagels. The website says a mini bagel is 72cal and 1g fiber each, which puts them @ 4pts. I am so horrible at guessing portion sizes, I was just assuming I would end up eating a full cup but after I finished dinner I wasn't sure, so I tried to remember how many spoonfuls I put on there. I think it was like 6 to 8 teaspoons. Does that sound right? I was using a plastic spoon. I hate being in college, nothing in this school has a label on it, and I hate guessing all of the time. To me this sounds like an awfully low amount of pts. I still have chicken salad left, but I am going to throw it out. I will eat it just because it is there, and I don't need it.

Ok, so I did end up eating the rest of it @ like around 4:30 in the morning cause I was hungry. I couldn't sleep last night... my schedule is so off I went to bed @ like 6:30 am. I think i had half a cup. Half a cup of tuna salad is 4pts but that seems low to me.

Really it depends on the mayo and the amount used. When I make Tuna Salad it is roughy 4 points. I use an entire can of tuna (3 points) and 1 TBSP of lite Mayo for 1 point. Pickle relish celery and pepper have no points. It makes a little more than a half cup, but if you used full fat mayo there is no way you'd keep it at 4 points unless its super dry. 1 TBSP isn't very much mayo, but it is moist. Not oozing and no clumps of just mayo. The salad is pretty flaky not pasty.

That's why it seems low to me. I have 7pts that I could spend on the chicken salad without dipping into my flexies. I need to save a lot for Wens so I hope I didn't go over. I didn't make it and that is the prob. There were no clumps of just mayo, but it was mayonaisy.
