Cedar planks

I picked up a number of cedar planks at the supermarket to give as Xmas presents last year and finally used mine today with a lovely salmon fillet. I cannot say it imparted more flavor than my charcoal grill with hickory chips but it kept the salmon so moist and smokey. It was wonderful. Since the coals were still hot I also did a pound of scallops for today. I already sampled one (yes I logged it)

We've done the salmon on cedar planks, and LOVE it! I've never cooked over hickory chips, so I don't know what that would be like...but love love the salmon!!

I saw some of these at the store the other day and passed them up. Has anyone cooked anything other the fish on them? Would it benefit chicken?
