Yesterday, My 6 1/2 yr old beagle went to the vet. I was not expecting the outcome. They did a blood test on her... she is severely anemic. The vet said that her red blood cell count is so low.. she technically shouldn't be alive. She has cancer deep in her bone marrow. and to top it off she has a huge tumor in her chest. I dont want to have to be faced with putting my baby down!! But, it can't be put off any longer.. tomorrow, we are putting her to sleep.. I so need GOD's Strength to get through this! I dont know how many of you out there actually consider your dogs.. more than just a dog. She IS my baby!! My precious little girl!!!! I ask that you keep me in your thoughts and prayers through this extremely sad time!!! :sobbing:

I will keep you and your puppy in my prayers. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I have a Westie, and she is my baby too...not just a dog.
She will be loved and cared for in Heaven...just as she was with you.
-hugs and love-

Angelz,
I'm so sorry. I do consider our dogs, our kids. We don't have kids. That is devastating news to find out. If it's any consolation, you know that she's going to go to Dog Heaven and will be able to run and play with all the other dogs. She'll be waiting for you when you get there. Just remember that!!!

I am so sorry that you have to do what you must do. It is so hard to be put into a position to have to make that decision on someone that has more than a pet, but as close as a child would be to us. I shall keep you prayer all day.
I know that it will be best for your 'baby' to be put to rest. She needs you to love her enough to give her back to God. He shall watch over her.
I kept by beloved 'Baby' kitty alive so much longer than I should have. She was so weak and probably in pain. We couldn't part with her. We spent hundreds of dollars to keep her alive. Finally, we realized that we were being selfish in keeping her in her condition. So, with broken hearts, we put her to sleep. We know she is with God.
After that, we knew that no matter, how much we love our kitties and we have had dogs, too, we must love them enough to let them go when the time comes.
Again, I am so sorry for you. If you need to talk about Furbaby, please write to me. We can grieve together.
Love,
Georgeann

Thank you so much everyone for your responses regards to my baby. Her name is Shiloh. (named after the movie, if any of you might have seen it) She is scheduled to be put to sleep at 4:30 MST. My family is extremely worried about me due to the high emotions I am going through.. and being pregnant. This is truely like saying good-bye to your child. This is a big day.. all around. We have 2 other doggies. One we are giving away today. He turned 1 year on Christmas.. (skyler) although we dearly love him.. he has destroyed our house.. and we cant get him to stop jumping on people. He has jumped on my stomach twice.. since I found out I was pregnant. We have found a good home for him. Then Sadie.. the baby, is in getting spayed.. due to come home sometime after Shiloh is put to sleep. My youngest nephews 6th birthday is today as well. He doesn't quite understand what all is going on and it would hurt him if I dont come to his lil party tonight. (just family)
I have been counting down hours and minutes.. which is driving me crazy. It will be just over 4 hours now. I keep going in and checking on her.. laying and cuddling with her... talking to her and just loving her.
Again.. I thank all of you for the continued much needed prayers!!! God Bless...

I think parting with a pet is almost worse than humans.......I know it's hard but she will be happier and not in pain. Feel comfort in knowing that you will be reunited with her one day.... that's what I belive anyway! I am so sorry you have to go through this. I have been through it several times. The pain is great in the beginning but things will get better...She will live in your heart.....

I hope you can take comfort in knowing you're doing the best thing for her, and she's had a happy life with you. My beagles are my babies too, and I dread the day I have to do something like this.
