My aunt is the only one remaining from my mother and her six siblings. I received word last night that Gerry is now accepting Hospice care and wants to leave the hospital to go home for her last days.
She was diagnosed almost ten years ago with Polycystic Kidneys. She went on dialysis shortly after. She is diabetic and now has Congestive Heart Failure. Depending on the primary diagnosis, she may or may not continue the dialysis when she goes home.
I will be the first to attest that she has not done anything over these many years to help herself or prolong her own life. My mother, her closest sister, passed away last year. Within ten days, Gerry's youngest daughter passed away from complications of lifelong kidney disease and other illnesses. I am sure at this point Gerry has had enough of hospitals, Drs. etc.
This is my first 'crisis' since my cousin passed away. It took me this long to feel like I was getting back to 'normal', whatever that may be for me. I could use some extra support and prayers to help me stay calm and OP.
Thanks for letting me get this all out.
