Nancy you where not alone yesterday, I read each of your posts, I am so proud of your plans on redefining you goals and your motivation. You are an inspiration.

Oh, Esther I am so very proud of you. 1 lb down! Way to go girl!
You inspired me to drag out my gazelle and wt bench. Keep up the good job walking and doing the tread mill.

Jules, sounds like Santa was very good to you! I also got your card yesterday. I loved it. You are such a talented one to put that together.

Today I have my house to myself again DH is back at work so I can slowly get my routine back. I dearly love the man, but he drives me nuts sometimes.

Plans for the day.......
Clean up sewing room, pretty sure a bomb went off in it. My sewing machine is acting stupid, so I may have to run it into the shop.

Have to seriously sit down and get my food plans together, I have slipped back into eating one meal aday. I need to get back to the 3 meal thing again. Even if it is small things for breakfast and lunch.

Hope the board slowly starts to come back to life today.

Mo, are you undercontrol again or do you need us to help ya?

Miss you all

okay yall, I will just keep posting and posting and posting until you all Poof appear.

I will tell you my story from last weekend of how Mo got me in trouble......
Last Saturday at work I saw we have a new surgeon on staff....don't ask me how you spell his name, but it is pronounced "Show-Me-Mo" I practiced his name over and over before I met him. A few hours later he was in the hosp. and called me stating he had a surgical case and would I please activated the team. This is a process that usually requires the use of multiple telephones and some coordination on pulling in the staff. I professionally went to the unit and introduced myself to him and sat down to make the calls....It is rather impressive when I am juggling 3 telephones at the same time......He was sitting beside me dictating some information, when one of the OR staff on the phone asked me who the surgeon was............I blurt out........."Dr Elmo"........I wanted to crawl under the table, I have no idea where that came from..........all the nurses started laughing and left the area, I just calmly turned to the new Dr and said "boy I screwed that up didn't I?" I do not think he was impressed. Geeze Mo, thanks for getting the Elmo this year for Kohen. I have no idea how that fell out of my brain.

okay thats the chuckle for the day. From that time on when I have seen him I call him "sir".

Morning Chris,

Sounds like the holidays are sneaking up on you. Don't worry, you will get back on track when they are over. Sounds like fun getting it all together for the New Years bash? Are you having lots of people over?

Jo, what nationality was this new surgeon? sometimes, other nationalities do not enjoy the American sense of humor! Too bad for him-as for the other nurses that laughed and left you hanging with your undershorts showing, they need a lesson in what to ignore and when to ignore it!! LOL

Good Morning girlies...

We had a wonderful Christmas with my inlaws here. They are 82 and 79 and such a joy to be around. They leave to go to my SIL today as I have to get a decent nights sleep in my own bed...working days tomorrow! I've had TOM since sunday despite continuing on my birth control and trying to skip this month and next...it just may not work out for me not to have a period during my vacation next month. I've also been on my meds for cramps for tom and i've retained a lot of water with them. Hopefully yesterday was the last day for that!!!
We were blessed with the gift of CASH for Christmas from my mom and my uncle (single and never married, therefor no family) so we will be buying some US dollars for our vacation and a camcorder. And we'll have some left over, maybe to put towards a new fridge!

I've been doing well eating, but not journalling again during the holiday season, so i'll be back to that, hoping to get at least a little bit of weight off before the vacation!

Jo, how embarassing...hope Dr. Elmo took that as an appology.

Morning Chris, who are you working with?!

Jo-Your story is so funny. Poor doc! Tickle Me Elmo was a hit with CLARK! (I will post pix of him with the toy. Cute!) Kohen enjoyed some of his gifts. Fun to watch him.

Chris-Have a good day today, and enjoy the next few days off. We are having friends over for NYE also. Several couples from church, including our minister and his wife. Fun times!

Lynn-glad you had fun with mil and fil. When do you leave for vacation? Where are you going?

Jules-Your letter was very sweet. Did Karlee end up writing it?

Esther-You rock with a loss over Christmas!! This is where I began slipping last year. I will not allow it this year!

Nancy-How are things with you? Kids still home?

My eating was better yesterday, but not perfect. I did well for b and l, but we took Clark and his "friend" out for dinner last night, and had Mexican. You all know that is not a WW friendly choice. I am back on track today, but need to lose several pounds. I am not sure how I could have gained so much in a few days. Hoping some is water retention from ham at Christmas and Mexican last night.

Lynn, sounds like you had a nice holiday. Are you off this week? I thought you and Chris had the same schedule. Sounds like all of us need to get back to the basics and get back on the right track.

Did you have to drive the inlaws home yesterday?

Did the kids have a good holiday?

Nancy, are you working today?

Mo, what do you mean "several pounds"? that is more than "a couple". Your gonna be put in your hamster ball with just lettuce leaves.

Lynn, you answered my in law question.

Okay off to get dressed and straighten up the sewing room.

Jo-According to my scale, which I have believed up to this point, I gained over 6 lbs. in three days. :bcb_mad2

I am not sure how this can be, as my jeans still fit the same way, and I do not have the pot belly I get when I gain. Sooooo, I will be pushing water today, and staying away from salt. I hope that will help!! (Well, I will also be staying op, which will help also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

:bcb_march I am planning on going to yoga at a local church today and Friday. DH and DS are going to NC for a short trip. I will make only Core foods, so I should be in pretty good shape.

Mo, good girl. I was freaking out for a moment for you. (as if your not doing that to yourself!)
Yoga, ...........too close to Plaites for comfort......wanna borrow the "socks"?
I will just be around today saying......."Ummmmmmmmm" for you. and trying to center my spirt for you.......

okay back to the sewing room..............ick

Good morning all! Hope everyone had a great christmas. I haven't been around in a while, I've been super busy. I've got about 1 1/2 lbs back on, but that'll be gone this week I'm sure. Dh is gone back to sea so it's back to a schedule for me. I won't get any running in until my neice comes back from visiting the grandparents so there's someone here with my DS. So I guess it's the elliptical machine for a couple of weeks. I hate the machine! I remember loving it and thinking that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread (WW bread of course :bcb_wink3 ) but now that I've been able to run outside, I hate the elliptical, the stride just isn't long enough. And with the elliptical it's very easy to quit and jump off, whereas running outside in winter in newfoundland... you RUN! There is no stopping or slowing down until you get back to the warmth of the house! I'll haev to make sure to get on here each day, that seems to make me want to workout more. :bcb_smile I did get an mp3 player with the armband to use for running. That I'm greatful for, the discman bobbing around in the fanny pack was an annoyance. Nice to see that you're all doing great, some really impressive numbers bouncing around this place! I must go and see what needs to be done around the house. Jo...I feel your pain with the sewing room! Mine's a disaster! I had a huge set of pleated drapes due for just before christmas (22ndish) after I got them all done and ready to hang, the lady calls and asks if we could do it 6th jan. I was too disgusted to go back at the sewing since! BUt oh well, it has to be done! Talk to you all later.

Lori-Sounds like you had a successful holiday. As you have read, I did not do well. However, I am ready to get back after it today! I might have missed this in a previous post, but what does your dh do?

Jo-I changed my mind and will do yoga at home after dh and ds leave. Don't feel like getting out today.

Hi Everyone – sounds like everyone had a good holiday. My dd discovered our wedding video and I have been forced to watch it 6 times over the weekend! I weigh less now than I did then but other than a double chin shot here and there, I really love having the video. It’s not professional, my brother just set up a camera but it came out pretty good.

I have been doing well op this week so far. I am at work right now and came with a plan so that should go ok too.

Jules – Karlee is too funny! Well, at least you can share. I don’t think dd and I will be doing that for a while. I was thinking about getting a matching pair of high top rainbow sneakers but then came to my senses.

Nancy – what a great plan. Sounds like you have really become reenergized and remotivated. Good for you!

Mo – “puke green luggage?” well, at least it will be easy to spot when it comes off the plane lol. As far as the weight gain, that sounds like a lot of water retention to me. Try to drink at least 64 oz of plain water for the next few days and that should help.

Tonia – hope you are doing well.

Esther – good for you being down a pound over the holiday!!!

Jo – that elmo story is too funny! When I was interviewing for my current job I had a phone interview with a Dr. Castro. I put a big note in front of me that had his first name and prayed that I did not refer to him as Fidel! Can you imagine?

Lynn – a camcorder sounds like a great idea. I think there is nothing better than family videos.

Lori – hope you are doing well on your new schedule. Must be so hard to have dh away like that. Have you tried books on tape (or mp3) when on your elliptical. Then you can be motivated to keep going until the end of the chapter – works for me.

Alissa and Lori it's wonderful to see you both again.

Lori, I am with you running outside is so much nicer than inside stuff. I am so glad deer hunting season is almost over. DH gave me a new pair of running shoes. I am so happy that the time is close that I can be outside again to run. Sadly I am sure I will have to start over from the begining, but with 50 lbs gone maybe it will not be as hard to get back into the swing of things.

okay almost done the sewing room........I can almost find my cutting table.

Mo, do I have to continue walking around the house saying ummmmmm? My dog is looking at me weird.
oh, yeah your lugguge..........did you ask for that color?

Hi again buddies,

I am alone in the office again for a few moments. I just had a big problem to fix for a Spanish speaking customer-Mo, I could have used your help! It's all fixed now, I hope. I am seriously thinking about taking Spanish classes in the spring.

Jo, yes, I am at work. I was supposed to be at home, painting away, but my boss called me last night, and asked if I could work. His MIL is in the hospital, and having tests, so my other co-worker, her daughter, is at her side! No problemo-I am Ms. Flexible! LOL At least in attitude-I'm working on the physical.

Lynn, so glad you had a good Christmas. You sound very relaxed and ready for vacation!

Mo, 6 pounds is harsh! I know how that feels! I am still wondering where my extra wt came from-and my pants are all tight. Not for long though. On the 1st, I will WI and continue to do so until I see the results I have been waiting for 20 years for.

My kids are all over the place. Erika, the oldest is in Florida with her BF sunning herself on Daytona Beach. Brad is in Vegas with my dh, and Christa is up in MD working today. I am blessedly alone with my 2 doggies. Mack is doing quite well, and Spanky, who is now a permanent visitor, was sick last night in his kennel. I was concerned this morning because he was so quiet-his toenail is knicked and he is a HUGE wimp, so I figured he was babying himself. Well, I went to put him in his kennel before I left for work, and he had vomited all over it. :bcb_yuck: I had to clean it out, and then he got clean blankies, and I came to work. I am going to zip home to check on him and let them out over my lunch break. I worry about my doggies. I love them like children. Last night, they were both on my lap-Spank weighs about 45-50 lbs, and Mack is 30. I know know what it would be like to weigh 300 lbs, and ladies,

It ain't for me!!!!!

Good morning ladies!

Well, surgery went well yesterday. But let me tell you, it was a painful day. If you have ever had a bladder infection, multiply that pain by about 50 and you have my day yesterday. The pain pills didn't even help much. But today I am MUCH better and haven't even taken a pain pill so far. I was really out of it, but from what I can remember my DH telling me, the doc didn't find a specific reason for the blood in my urine or back pain. I'll see him in two weeks and talk further about what happens next. He had told me before he thought it might by "IC" (Intersticial Cystitis) and told my husband yesterday that after the surgery he felt that was going to be the diagnosis but wanted to get all the lab results back and review them before making that diagnosis. I think that means a pill daily to try to control the symptoms, but we'll see. In the meantime he said I should do a little research on the disease.

ANYWAY, enough of that and on to personals . . .

Jo - my DH went back to work today too. I hated to see him go since we both are so busy the majority of the time. He was a lifesaver yesterday and took such good care of me. Even when all I could do was cry because it hurt so much he just sat and held my hand. He is the perfect man for me!! BTW, Dr. Elmo cracked me up! That's hilarious!!

Chris - the holidays are so tough. Those 2 pounds will be gone in no time. I haven't weighed in yet this week. Thought I might do it today since it's been crackers and jello since the surgery. HA!

Lynn - sounds like you had a good Christmas. Money is always a nice gift. My in-laws gave me cash this year and I bought more sessions with my trainer. I was very grateful for that! When are you going on your vacation?

Mo - I bet most of those several pounds are just water retention. There's no way you could have gained that much in such a short time!

Nancy - good morning lady! I hope you are having a great day so far.

Lori - like I told everyone else, those pounds will be off in no time. I'm sure I have a couple to lose myself I'm just too big a chicken to get on the scale! HA!

OK, I need to go to the potty AGAIN! One drawback from the surgery yesterday, I still have to go every 5 minutes. I'll be glad when that gets back to normal!!

WOW! I missed a lot. Must have taken me longer to post that than I thought.

Alissa - I love watching our wedding video. We watch it every once in a while. It's nice to see it, takes you back a bit!

Nancy - my pets are my babies! They get treated just like children do . . . Chrismas presents, snacks you name it. Yeah, I'm gonna be a crazy old pet lady when I get old! HA!

I need lots of encouragement because I have no willpower.. I wake up thinking how good I'm going to be today and going to eat this and that only and blow it by midmorning! I know all the right things to do, but I just flat don't do them. So I need to be with all of you that are trying to. I use to be so good..haha... I am about 80 pounds overweight and fighting middle age too so it sure can be tough. I will go around and read some posts because that is always so helpful and is so encouraging! So glad I found all of you. I look forward to chatting with you.

Tonia!! Welcome back, and so glad you are better today. I hope they are able to find some relief for you. All of those kinds of problems are not nice ones to have.

Alissa, howdy again! Too bad you're at work, but you're in good company! I took my wedding movies to be transferred to video-YES, I am that old! We had the old, old film that had to be transferred to a VHS, and now, I don't even have a VCR! I just gave it to my dd so she could watch her hair styling videos. I will have to either get them made to a DVD or get the VCR back. There are so many people on the video who are not with us anymore, the most important being my dad who died 10 months after we were married. So, it is very important to me, and very special. I am so thankful to have the memory!

Karen-We are so glad to have you join us. We are a very close group of ladies (with one gentleman), of assorted ages and weights. Tell us more about you.

I am Mo. I am 46, married to dh Dave, and have two ds's, Drew (20) and Clark (14). I have a dgs, Kohen, who is 5 1/2 months. (You will see many pix of him!) Iam a hs Spanish teacher, so I am off for two weeks.

I have been on this journey for some time. This is my last time, though! I have been at goal for several weeks, not gaining in Japan nor over Thanksgiving. However, Christmas was too much for my willpower. I am back on track today, and it will all be good!

Again, Karen, welcome to the family!

Hello Karen,

First of all, you are not a dummie. You are a newbie, and it takes time to get aquainted with the system. We all have our flaws here, so don't worry about it! You are welcome to join us-we are a great bunch of women and one occasional man, who show lots of support and understanding to each other. I am next in line to really get my act together and lose 50 pounds. I was up to losing 28 lbs, and then life happened, my attitude went into the toilet, and I gained some of it back, but I have new attitude now!! I am 47, married for 26 years, have 3 children and I have been dealing with empty nest, a horrible job, a major move to a new state, and various other little things. Mid life? Come and join the fun. I am right there with you! I am one of the older buddies here, so I would love another middle ager! Post often so we can get to know you.

Alissa-It is so nice to see you with us. How was Christmas with DD?

Jo-I picked out the puke green, knowing I would see it easily at the airport. (I thought it was going to be lime green.) I have not started yoga yet today. Give me another hour or so. I need to wait until DH and DS leave for NC. Right now I am purging the house of junk food. It has been too easy to grab something unhealthy.

Mo, a few friends of our parents took home movies for us, and then we had them transferred years later to video. We didn't even have a professional photographer-my uncle took as many pictures as he could, and then gave us the photos and negatives. We did go to a studio to have a formal wedding picture done of us. Regrets? Yes, I wish I would have taken the pictures. I would have not missed one person at the reception-my uncle did a good job, and he is not a professional, but I want more NOW, 26 years later, when lots of the people at my wedding are now deceased. I wish I had a picture with my grandparents, and my grandmother. I wish I had more pics of my dad.

Karen - welcome to the thread. This is the best group of women you will ever find. Not only will you find the support you need you will make a lot of wonderful friends too. I love these women so much and I don't know what I would do without them! I love that you have a garden and animals!!!! I would LOVE that . . . I grew up with big gardens and farm animals. I miss it sometimes. About me . . . not much to tell . . . I'm 33, married again, now for 2 years. No children and none planned; we have a dog named Willie and a cat named Friday that are our beloved children. I am a Marketing Director by day and wanna be best-selling author by night! :) I work out a lot and am a semi-vegetarian (I eat seafood) and I have 30 more pounds to lose. OK, so I wrote a novel, sorry.

Mo - my surgery was out-patient. I got home yesterday afternoon . . . I think! HA!

Jo - thanks, yes I do need some soup! Wanna come take care of me in Texas? hee hee! I'm about to make myself some couscous. They told me to stick to jello, soup, crackers, etc until at least tomorrow. :(

OK, on to make my couscous. DH made me some jello last night so I guess I'll have couscous and jello. MMMMMMMM. :bcb_huh: BBL!

I'm in Florida...yes, I have the goats and they are wonderful! Just had nine new babies starting Thanksgiving day and the week after! So much fun. I will get some pics for you. Okay,...this is where I need help. We don't have a WW around here for me to attend. I really don't know much about it...so I don't know if I'm doing flex or core??:bcb_confu I will have to go research. Any suggestions.

Meal plan... tonight, I am having salad with turkey. That's it. well, since I collect about 18 eggs a day, I may eat a boiled egg...haha

I heard someone here mention water.... I have not been doing that either, but I'm off to the water fountain...:bcb_march

:) hugs, karen

Okay, I just read a little and I think probably the core plan is for me. I can't keep up with points.:bcb_grin

Karen-Some of us belong on-line, some of us go to meetings, others of us follow the program with only our buddies for support. (I go to monthly meetings to wi as a lifetime member, and I belong on-line where I journal to log my daily intake.)

Tonia-You sound like you are feeling better. We should have a buddies field trip to visit you. What is your weather like? BTW: I did not know that only whole wheat couscous was Core. Remember how I feel about the whole wheat kind. BLECH! :bcb_sick: (hey, his face is the same color as my luggage!)

Mo, usually I use one of the seasoning packets from Whole Foods to mix in with the bulgar and a little olive oil and then I add to it with what looks good. Last night we had a spicy chicken that I make so I added that and grape tomatos. I love adding tofu and spinach as well.

One of my most favorite foods that I've discovered, thanks to Tonia, edamame w/salt, pepper and some cumin... yum!! I saw that Tonia had posted that she likes it with just a little salt and pepper, so I tried it, but i can never leave well enough alone, I have to mess with everything... so I added Cumin and I'm in love. The kids bought me a fridge for my office for Christmas so I may bring some in a container to have here. The recepie for the meetballs looks good! For New Years eve we are having my sil and her hubby over and I'm going to do appitizers, I think those and the white bean dip with veggies is going to be on the menu... not sure what else.

Phew survived the trip with my sweetie, beltway granny. Never take a 76 year old woman shopping with you for sexy underware........I need some new under duds, so we go into the only fairly decent store in the town, she begins to tell me the dangers of "thong" underware......okay between laughing so hard and her holding up "push-up bras, I almost wet myself lauging. If your a size 38-40 if you push it all up you might put your eye out. So no new undies. So here I am pulling up my droopy cotton underware...................what? too much information for you all?

Lara, yippee your back, Missed you these past few days. Is DH still home? or is he back at work? What did Santa give you? Ugly luggage?

Mo, as for the edamame, I tried it, Got a bag that was the kind you cook in the Microwave, As DH and I sat down for dinner, we couldn't chew through the pods, So being the brilliant person I am I begin to start shelling them.......Poor Cauzie( that's the dog for those who don't know) was being shot in the head by flying beans, The few we did have was rather tasty, kinda a fancy Lima bean. Next time I will look for the shelled kind. Lara is this normal on the pods?
Love your pics Mo, Your project is on the sewing table...........didn't say I had done anything to it, but it is on the table at least...............chuckle. If you hadn't had me yoga chanting all day I might have accomplished more.

Jennifer, You will be back on track when you are ready to. Only you can make it happen. You know you have all the support you need here. We will pull you back up on the wagon when you are ready. (now that rollin rollin rollin, keep them wagons rollin.....Rawhide tune is in my head.........) Have a nice birthday celebration with your DH.

Karen, this is my 3rd time having to get to goal on WW, this time I just did the at home version, I do have a meeting place but a rather non inspiring leader, so with the boards help it has been good. Look at it on line, It is worth the investment.

Lori, Have a great evening with your baby boy!

Jo, You have just had me rolling all day, between your Dr. Elmo story and the Thongs and push up bras... too funny! My theory on Thongs, I've spent all of my life fighting to keep my undies outta there, why would I want something that purposly puts it there????? The kids bought me a new fridge for my office, a little one, not one of the tiny square ones, dorm size, jesse got me a beautiful new leather purse that is just the cat's meow and Troy bought me a new Jim Shore Santa, when I unwrapped him I found it dawned with a diamond necklace... I was shocked. Troy has bought so little jewelry since we've been together so diamond necklace was a shocker. There was a bunch of little stuff, a Frank Sinatra CD, pretty undy things from Victoria Secrets (from Troy of course), a beautiful outfit from Ann Taylor Loft... everything was wonderful, thanks for asking.

Recipe ingredients

250 g tempeh, crumbled
1/2 cup water
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 tsp taco seasoning
1 Tbs olive oil
1 cup cooked black beans, drained
1 tomato, chopped
1 onion, chopped
handful chopped lettuce
100 g grated hard (soy) cheese
8 whole wheat tortillas

Recipe directions

Saute the tempeh in the olive oil for about 4 minutes. Add red pepper and onion and continue to saute for about 7 minutes more. Add the taco seasoning, 1/2 cup water and the beans and cook for about 5 minutes or until most of the water has evaporated.

Serve in the tortillas with the chopped lettuce, tomato and cheese.

Spaghetti Bolognese
Total servings: 4

Recipe ingredients

500 g spaghetti, boiled according to instructions
250 g fresh tempeh, crumbled in fine pieces
5 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 teaspoon red pepper paste (or more)
250 g mushrooms, chopped
100 ml red wine
2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
2 medium tomatoes, cubed
1 tablespoon soy sauce
150 g double concentrated tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste
vegan soy cheese, grated (optional)

Recipe directions

Crumble the tempeh in a food processor so you get small crumbles making sure you don’t get a mash. In a skillet, bake the tempeh in the olive oil until slightly crisp while stirring continiously. Add the garlic, onion, red pepper paste and sauté for about 5 minutes on medium heat. Add the soy sauce, red wine, oregano, mushrooms, thyme and tomatoes. Simmer sauce for 15 minutes. Add the tomato paste. Bring to the spaghetti Bolognese sauce to taste with salt and pepper. If the sauce is too acid, you can add a bit of sugar.

Put the boiled and hot spaghetti on individual plates and cover with the spaghetti Bolognese sauce. Serve the spaghetti Bolognese immediately. Sprinkle with some grated vegan soy cheese.

Too much cold medication maybe! As for the thongs... gotta say once you get use to it, there's no going back. My grandmother and Aunt live with my father now, while out there visiting my aunt done all the laundry (god luv 'er) and she holds up my thong "what kind of bra is that?" I nearly died. ok, so there's tempeh and edamame ... wikipedia here I come.... Didn't have the salad, I forgot that there were leftovers... casserole! Hi buddies,

Sorry I had to leave today. I guess I missed the party with 4 pages!

I will make this short as I don't want to tie up my phone line.

My mom has a significant other who lives with her 5 days a week, and they are very close, but she has had too much tragedy in her life, and will not marry again. Bob went home to his daughter's homes in Michigan for Christmas, and was traveling home yesterday to my mom's house in Ohio. He had a flat tire in Toledo, and called my mom to say he was staying in a hotel because by the time AAA came to fix his flat, it would be dark, and as he is 89 years old, he doesn't drive at night anymore. (he shouldn't be driving at all, but that is none of my business) Anyway, that is the last that anyone has heard from him. His daughter's are frantic, and my mom is shaky to say the best. My brother is over with her. Please, please, buddies give this a priority in your prayers. I am so dang worried about my mom-I do not know how she will survive another tragedy, to say nothing about poor Bob.

I'll keep you guys posted, and thanks for the prayers I know I can count on.

Thank you so much buddies. I can always count on those prayers!!! I am so relieved for Bob, his family, and my mom and my family. Thank you God. I feel like crying I am so relieved. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and prayers. I have asked for them before, and I always get good results. Prayers work ladies!! Love to all my buddies,
