I'm a 35 year old male. I graduated highschool in 1989 and I was 230 lbs. I am 6'2" and I thought I was fat then. WOW, I wish I was there again. My 1st goal is to make it back under 300. In 2003 I was 290. I gained 64 lbs in 3 years. It's pretty scary. My wife and I joined WW and did it for 2 months. I lost 16 lbs. 10 OF which was in one week which was kinda weird. We went on vacation and that was that. We got back into old habits. She doesn't want to work at it anymore. I want to join a gym and get exercising. Possibly with a personal trainer to help me do the right exercises etc....Then comes eating. I can eat at Wendy's and get tons of food and feel hungry still. I saw one guy one night eating what I eat and I was saying to my wife, WOW, Look at all he's eating. And then I said to myself, that's what I look like. It's easy to say you can go on a diet once you're full, but the next day or even 3 hours later I'm hungry again and ready to stuff my face. HELP!! I really wish I had a friend around here who could go to the gym with me etc....but there is not because they are all busy and thin...LOL Anyway, anyone here want to talk and help eachother out? I want to be around for my kids who are 10 and 8.

Welcome to BCB, you've come to the right spot. As far as hunger goes, drink 16 oz of water b4 every meal. And some during. Fills you up, and you may often mistake your hunger for thirst, so drink your water! THere's nothing better for your body. Also, remember whole grains (oatmeal, bread you can see the grains in) take longer to digest, as well as lean protein (turkey, chicken, fish) and complex carbs (most fruits and veggies, which are also a great source of fiber that helps keep you full). STAY AWAY from fast-food if you can. Or try places you know you can control better, like Subway or Quiznos. Also try walking or some other exercise a few times a week.

Welcome to BCB! You have come to the right place. Some things I recommend to help ensure your success:
1. Take some time to search around . Find the BCB Philosophy. Print, and post it where you can read it often. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
2. Find a board where you can call "home". There is a MEN board, there is a 100+ to loose board, there are different buddy threads here....and more. Start by snooping! :bcb_grin Read the threads and see if you feel like the people who are posting are going through similar stuff and are people you want to make "friends" with. THEN POST. Introduce yourself there again, tell them you would like to be a part of their group and request their support. If after a few days it doesn't feel like a good fit, post somewhere else, don't give up!
3. Go to the board where people post pictures of their befores and afters! OMG it's amazing and sooo inspiring.
Most importantly.................DON'T GIVE UP. YOU ARE WORTH IT. YOU DESERVE TO BE HEALTHY!!! And remember, take it 1day, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 second at a time!
Take care, and GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN AND YOU WILL! Keep telling yourself this!

Yankeefan, I think we have all been at the same place in our lives where we seem hopeless. But the good news is you finally want to commit. I was one of those people that would start diets and then as soon as a vacation would come, i'd just forget about it the diet once i came home. This year i finally committed to losing the weight. It's no longer a diet for me, but rather a new lifestyle of eating. Since going on WW, i've went on vacation twice and have lost both times while being on vacation. So this program really works!!! We all know you can do this. I know going to the gym with a friend can be easier. My suggestion is....maybe take a group class once a week in exercise. For example, I take Yoga..and have made friends there. Now i look forward to seeing them every week. I'm in a buddy group called SDS (sizing down sisters)...however everyone is invited. You are more than welcome to join our group. We're all in this together!!

Hi there YankeefanI am new here and in the same boat. I am around the same weight and i need to lose lots of weight. If you need some support online I am here if you like. I know i need support as well. Its a hard journey but a well worth it one. And i am excited to be on it. I just started doing WW at home today. So if you like we can be email support buddies or even support buddies on here. That goes for anyone. All the support we can get would be awsome..
