I was thinking about heading to the Gap tomorrow, but was wondering if thier clohtes fit true to size or do they run a little small? Im not sure what size Im in yet. Anyone know what size they go up to in thier stores? Ive been browsing online. Its just so hard, because of my waist and jeans, I have much smaller thighs and hips than my waist.

Stores go up to 16, Online goes up to 20. They fit true to size for misses - if you are used to women's "plus sizing", that is usually shaped a bit differently.

I have a hard time finding clothes in their stores that fit me right and I am in a 16

Stuff there fits very differently for me. Their jeans run true to size, for me, but some of their pants (khakis, dress pants) run small-- I usually get the next size up. Their skirts never fit me-- but I have ginormous hips.
Hope that helps! I would just suggest bringing 2 pairs into the dressing room-- the size you think you would be and the next size up. I have been both pleasantly surprised and really pissed at the Gap. ;)

WHen i was a size 14/15, i woudl go into the gap and buy size 12s...At my lowest weight (127), i was able to buy size 4s...so i think their clothes tend to be a little bigger than their stated size. I'm also petite, so i always went to the gap cause their "ankle" height was perfect for me...

Thanks girls. I was thinking of getting some trouser jeans for next weekend, but I guess Ill have to see how they look on me. I guess ill do the 14's and 16's and see how they fit, but all my 16's are too big, just depends on the brand.

I swear my lower body is dispoportioned...lol. I need to just get my jeans altered, if you can even do that, because no jeans ever fit well. I will get a pair of jeans that fit great in the waste and ill have huge baggy thighs...lol. Its so frustrating.

I don't know about the Gap, but I have noticed that jeans sizes and regular pant sizes run different. For instance, a 12 in jeans could be a 10 in regular pants.

Gap makes "Curvy" style now, and I've found those work well for me. I have a few pairs of their curvy jeans and one pair of pants, and I like them. Do you have an outlet? They carry up to size 20 in the outlet store.

Don't worry...I have the weirdest body shape...my waist is like a size 14 and my thighs are like a size 18 and my butt is bigger than a mac truck so any pants I buy I have to wear a belt and then I have the whole bunched up look at the top..

UGH

Yeah Gap was always true to size but until they switched to their curvy-regular-straight cuts, their jeans were always huge in the hips for me. Now they fit me great, but I need longs. I would just give it a try, every body is different!

Lol, tell it like it is!!!

I completely know how that feeling goes though... I find the Gap usually runs small in their tops.

My experience with Gaps sizes seem to be the same as amanda's: The jeans fit a bit smaller than the regular pants. While I would wear a size 8 in Gap pants, I would have to wear a size 10 in their jeans. although its been a few years since I've shopped at the Gap, so they might have changed their sizes since then.

I love the Gaps long and lean brand...and I'm not long and lean at all, but I wear a size 12 in everything else and I can get these in size 10. I have the cords and the jeans and they both fit the same....love it when I can buy a size smaller then my normal size

I JUST went on a little mini-spree at the Gap and tried on a bunch of their jeans. My best recommendation is to TRY ON EVERYTHING. Different cuts will fit your body differently. I'm a 16, and some of the jeans fit me like a glove, others were a bit big, and some still too small, all in the 16. I'm currently wearing a pair of the Curvy Flare jeans in a really dark wash :) They're really cute and fit me really well. I'm also addicted to their straight leg boyfriend cut. Also, based on the jean, I need different lengths. I have a regular in the straight leg jeans, but a long in the flares! So yeah, moral of the story is try try try! :) Have fun shopping!

I've had much better luck there now as a 10, I couldn't ever get their stuff to fit when I was a 14 or 16. I feel as a 10 it's true to size, but before it wasn't...does that even make sense? Maybe their sizing has just changed in the last couple of years.

THeir tops tend to be true to size IMO.

Hmm I'm not too big on Gap... their sizing runs small on me -- even after I lost the bulk of my weight. I think probably because I am curvy (with lots of wobbly bits hanging out here and there!). I always have to go up a size for jeans and tops.
