Good afternoon/evening ladies,

Is everyone ready to start a new week? Well I started my week by waking my lazy butt up at 5:20am and heading over to the gym. I did 45 minutes of cardio and got back home around 6:30ish. I'm feeling good but a bit tired because DBF and I stayed up until about 1am "discussing" Torre again. Jeesh...can we discussion YOUR kids for awhile. WTF? Anyway, i'm feeling good today and ready to have another GREAT OP day! NO major plans today. Just work, dinner and then taking DS to soccer. I will be meeting a friend of mine at the gym to do weights. MOst likely chest, triceps and abs.

Anybody have any big plans this week? I don't have any SERIOUS plans, but I have a very long day tomorrow so I MUST plan for it. I have the gym at 5:30am, then work from 8am - 3:30, then extended day at work until 4:45 and then Math Night from 6:30 - 7:30. YIKES!! I better get to bed early tonight! Wednesday I will be in class all day by myself because my para has a restraint training like I attended last week. Then Thursday I have a parent/teachers conference with Torre's teacher after school and will get his report card. Saturday I'm having Thanksgiving dinner at DBF's sisters house because his sisters were away for the holiday and DS has a basketball game on Saturday AND Sunday. UGH!!! What a week!

Hope you all have a great night!

Talk to you tomorrow!
XOXOXO

Good Morning Ladies:

Helen: Thanks for starting the thread. Hope you have a great week!!

Melissa: Wow you are super busy!!! thats great that you motivated yourself to head over to the gym before all that madness. I have to work all week and next week is insane. Gotta love the holidays. Im thinking you should tell your BF that you need to discuss his kids and see how he responds! =x hahahaha Well I mentioned to my best friend the 5k ( Did I mention shes a fitness instructor..go figure) she is psyched wich means uh we so are doing this -gulp-

Don't forget Biggest Loser is on Wednesday I believe at 8pm. I find myself rounding my points, not journaling and not drinking my water. I am exercising I dont know I think maybe this stupid one pound thing is doing a number on my confidence and Im trying to suck it up and get back to basics especially before the holidays hit. The itallian Christmas eve thing can be brutal for sure LOL

Have a great day ladies!!

Good morning ladies,

Well I did it again. I went to the gym at 5:30 and did 45 minutes of cardio (30 minutes treadmill and 15 minutes elliptical) My friend was supposed to meet me, but of course she didn't show. But at least I did what I planned to do.

Diane: It's weird some days I can jog for a mile straight, other days, I have to break it up. this morning I was just not with it and just kept walking .25 and then jogging .25. But I guess, when I haven't been to the gym for 2 weeks it can get you out of the swing. I am in for the 5k....so I'll be doing this jogging thing and trying to build up my stamina every morning.

Hey HElen: Hope you have a great day!

Gotta go do my hair and get off to work. It's a long day today. Got up at 5:15 and I won't be home until 7:30. I have extended day at work today and then Math Night from 6:30 - 7:30. UGH!!! FUN FUN!!

XOXO

Good morning ladies!! (it's 12:38am!)

Got home from work a few minutes ago and I'm trying to unwind a bit before I go upstairs.....

Melissa: No special plans this week.......it's all survival until Christmas ;) Glad you are doing well being OP. Gawd, I give you credit for getting up that early to go to the gym. You must be exhausted at the end of the day. You are a trooper! You go girl--two days in a row and going strong :exercise:

Diane: Ahhhhh I'm going to have to get someone to tape the biggest loser for me as I am working tomorrow night too. Booooooooooo! I don't ever think I will stop writing down what I eat and counting points..... sometimes it's on a slip of paper and sometimes it's on a spreadsheet on my computer. It's just habit at this point. Wish I could say drinking water was a habit :D cuz it's NOT! Maybe that should be my new year's resolution!

That 5k sounds fun. You two will enjoy doing it and training for that is a great way to keep you on your toes! I wish I was a runner/jogger, I'd join you two.

*sigh* I best get to bed or I will find myself in the same situation that I found myself in this morning. I stayed up way too late last night and slept until noon! I raced through my cycling, showered, and blew out the door by 2:30pm. No time to do anything else. What a waste of a day! Sooooooo....

NITE NITE!

Its TOM and the whole a bite here a bite there frosty ice cream fiasco will show Im sure of it. I am making myself stay for the meeting even tho I would rather just run in and out I have got to remember to make this a priority especially with the holidays.

Melissa: You sound so motivated! Welcome back you!!

Helen: You could always join us in the run Ive never jogged before and Im just attemtpting it now it would be wonderful if we all met up!! Think about it alright?

Good morning ladies,

I just got out of the shower after another GREAT morning at the gym. 45 minutes of cardio (30 minutes elliptical and 15 minutes bike) and then abductor and adductor thigh machines and rear deltoid and chest fly machines and then 25 full situps with my buddy and a 10lb ball. OUCH!!!

No plans for tonight. Coming home after work, getting into my PJ's and watching some TV. DBF is coming over tonight and I'll be glued to the TV for the 2 hour Biggest Loser Special.

HElen: Diane beat me to it but I was going to say you should join us too. I'm NOT a jogger by any means, but i'm trying to change that slowly but surely. Some days I can run .25 at a time, other days .50 and other days .75......and every time I'm like...what the hell am I doing. LMAO!!!

Diane: Okay. I"m pumped for the 5k. I'm sure if we do this, we will feel like we have conquered mountains. It will be GREAT! I didn't run today because I did the last 2 mornings and I wanted to do something different. But I'll get back to a jog tomorrow. :D

Gotta run ladies. DS is NOT getting out of bed, so I"m going to have to drag him. It could get ugly. lol

XOXO

good morning everyone,

Just got the kids off done working out and out of the shower and ready to start work at 645am! I cant believe I hit 50. It was such a huge step for me and took a whole month to play with that one stupid pound! I walked in not expecting anything but a gain so when I saw what had happened I bout died!! My leader was wonderful and I spoke for a bit at the meeting. It is a far cry from where I started. I cant believe it will be a year that Ive been there in February. This is exactly what I needed to keep going. Im halfway to my personal goal to be under 200 lbs. My next attainable goal is to reach my next 10% wich is 6lbs. Im giving myself til January 6th.

Melissa: I finally put a battery in my treadmill and I ran exactly 1.20 miles. I about died but that is where I am right now. This has totally focused me and I cant wait to find one near us in the spring! Thanks for the cookies recipes definitly will use them!

Beanie: Thank you for the congrats!! I could not have come this far with out BCB and all of you for sure!

Helen: Did you happen to see biggest loser? I taped the whole thing so dont tell if you did!! If not let me know Ill recap you

Well time to get to work...
take care ladies have a great day!!

Good morning, ladies :)

Diane: CONGRATS to you, Ms Fifty Pounds Lost :bcbsalute A job well done. And you were SO surprised too... definitely unexpected which makes it all the more exciting!!!! I'm so proud of you for sticking with it. Here's to your next 10% and your next 50 pound loss. The spousal unit taped last night's episode of the Biggest Loser. He experienced some 'technical difficulties' (gotta love that excuse = 'i forgot to rewind the tape and ran out of space then needed to find another tape and rewind that so you will have a part of the show missing..... *growl*). Anyhow, if I can't piece the show together, I will let you know so you can fill me in.

Melissa: Hope you had a nice relaxing evening. I wish I could get on those weight machines to do some strength training like you do. I'm working up to it. I think in the new year, I'm going to employ a personal trainer for one or two sessions to get me started on an full body routine. I will cut back on the cardio time to fit this in. I don't know my way around weights or what to do with them and I would feel so self conscious in that area of the gym to try and figure it out on my own :D . Here's to new changes in 2007!

Thank you both for inviting me to join you. Let me see how I do at the gym with jogging for a few weeks before I commit!

I sooooooooooooooo want to go back to bed for a couple of hours. I thought I was done shopping for my nephew for christmas. My sister emailed me to let me know that my cousin bought him the same gift  . I bought the gift first *whine whine* and now she wants me to duke it out with my cousin. I want to smack my sister upside the head. If my arm only extended down to NY I would. It's not like I went to the store to buy it...bought it online. CRIPES! Oh well, now he will have to settle for a gift certificate because I'm not going out there shopping *whine whine*.

I've decided greeting cards will only go out to family and extremely close friends this year. I'd like to phase them out all together :ugh: . Yes, I'm in a bah humbug mood. As the holidays get closer, my anxiety increases and that overwhelmed feeling prevails :help:

So much for going back to bed. I guess I could decorate the tree etc while I watch the taped show...........

Catch yas later! TTFN

Hello Ladies!

You girls are so good with your walking/running. I wish I had a treadmill to do it. Hopefully I'll get one once income tax comes (a few months away). Today my DS had physical therapy at 10am. Other than that, I have NOTHING else going on for a change. I plan on exercising when he takes a nap.

Helen- I would do the same thing...get a gift certificate for your nephew. Shopping now is soooo crazy. I haven't even started shopping:crazy: YIKES! (I'm one of those last minute people). I say every year that I'll start early and I never do. Oh well! I only send cards to immediate family too. It gets to be too much to send them to friends. Have fun decorating and watching the Biggest Loser! :D Have a good day!

Hope you have a great day Melissa and Diane  !

Hello ladies,

Sorry I didn't post this morning but with the gym, shower, getting DS ready and talking to DBF before we left I had no time to get on the computer. I did my 4th gym AM in a row and it still feels great. BUT, DBF and I were up until 1am "discussing" yet again KIDS!!! Sick of it!! I felt bad though because he saw an old FEM post that I kept losing and put into word so I wouldn't lose it again a few months back. It was after I had gotten off the phone with him and was venting...talking about him being jealous because his son is overweight, lazy and sits in front of the TV all day and my son is slender, athletic and has tons of friends. He was pissed. I can understand that, and I felt bad, but after our long discussion he realized that it was out of anger and hurt from what he had been saying about Torre and that he has to realize that what he says about my son hurts too just like what he read I said about his son hurt him. He said it didn't hurt him and it was my opinion and I was entitled to it, but I don't believe that. I also said that whether those things are true or not, they are things that have come out of his own mouth about his son and it hurts to hear it come out of someone else's mouth. But regardless I NEVER treat his kids differently than my own when they are here and he DOESN"T do that with Torre. We are both so sick of arguing about the kids but he has soooo much going on emotionally that I can only hope that when he deals with his finances, finding a new job and selling his house that is going into foreclosure...he will be less stressed and less impatient. We'll see!!!

So, before I was sidetracked, DBF kept me up until 1am last night so I only had 4 hours of sleep and still got up to go to the gym. I did 35 minutes cardio (20 min treadmill, 15 on bike) I was just too pooped to do 45. I also did 25 minutes of strength - bicep curls, preacher curls, military presses, lateral presses and 30 full sit ups with the 10lb ball. OUCH! My legs (inner thighs especially) were sooo sore this morning from strength yesterday! :strong:

I stepped on the scale this morning when I got in the shower I was down to 221. I was at 226.8 on Saturday. WOW!!! I was naked this morning on the scale so we'll see how much of my weight is actually clothes. But that was an awesome thing to see. I wear a very light t-shirt and very light sweats to weigh in so maybe it will only be a 1 lb difference. *fingers crossed*

Adele: Sorry, I know you saw this post in the other thread but I had to cut and paste it because it was long and I had the same info to share with out New England Buddies. I'll do an an exercise challenge with you. Sounds good! There is one other group I post with besides New England and Fab Fems and they are the Warm Welcome Group. We have an accountability thread where we post our menus AND exercise. You could always join us there. Or we can do a new exercise thread for the fems. Your call! :buddysmoo

Diane: I am so proud of you. Woo hoo on the 50 lbs. That is sooo awesome! Wow, you are doing better than me on the running, I think the most i've run all together without walking in between is .75 or 1 mile...that's it. I'll have to try to catch up to you...maybe tomorrow I'll try for jogging 1.20 too! I'm excited for the race too. My friend said she did her first 5k last weekend. She finished last, but at least she finished. That was huge for her, she was a non runner too!

Helen: I used to be clueless with the weights. But I started working out with my friend Cindy who has always had weight lifters for boyfriends. So she used to work out with them, get the deal on all the weights, learned the proper form and then she passed the info on to me. I love doing weights...but I do small weights adn 15 reps 3 sets....don't want to bulk up, just want to get toned and sexy! :D You'll love it when you start! Definitely changes for 2007. I AM going to meet my goal in 2007.

Good morning, ladies (morning because it's 12:12 am)

DD#2 went to the orthodontist today......it's time for the full set of braces *sigh* We've been through the expander phase and the retainer phase. Now the full mouth hardware phase *cringe* She's rather excited to get them on. Go figure!

Oh! And I drove myself over to Dick's Sporting Goods after DD#2's swim team practice and bought a new pair of sneakers today. I was using my work sneakers at the gym and they weren't cutting it. My feet were throbbing after my time on the treadmill. Tomorrow morning I will try them out at the gym ;) Hopefully, my feet will be happy happy!

Melissa: don't be apologizing, missy. We know you post when you can squeeze it in ;) We still love ya and enjoy your input here when you can find the time. 1am is a bit late to be discussing kids or much else for that matter when you have to wake up early. Does DBF get up as early as you do? Sounds like your doing great at the gym this week. You go, girlie! Wear the least amount/lightest weight clothing you can to weigh in. I used to wear the same set of scrubs every week for my weigh in....the lightest set I owned! That's a nice drop in weight since Saturday. Crossing my fingers for you that it stays that way or drops a little more for your next weigh in.

Diane: Hope you aren't working too hard and having a good day. How's that Christmas shopping coming along?

Adele: I fell asleep after watching the tape  . Good thing I didn't have to go to work today...heehee. I didn't enjoy this week's Biggest Loser show as much as previous shows. Too much reflection. It felt so drawn out. I loved the triathlon though. Now *that* I'd love to try one day...preferably before I get much older :D

Alas, it's 1am on Friday morning and time for bed. Enjoy the day, ladies---it's FRIDAY!!!!!!

Good morning ladies,

This is sooo unusual for me. DS has no school today and I took the day off to stay home with him and it's 7:40am and I've been up for more than 2 hours. LOL. Whoddathunk? I still got up and met my friend at the gym and I got in an extra 30 min work out because I didn't have to rush home and get ready for work. It felt awesome! I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, 15 on bike and 15 on elliptical. I like to switch it up because I get bored. Then I did 30 minutes of strength concentrating on back and triceps....lateral pull down, seated row, rear deltoid maching, seated tricep press and the tricep cable press. then Last but now least I did my 100 crunches. :strong: I felt I needed an extra 30 minutes today because I went over my points by 5.5 yesterday. I don't feel too guilty about it because it was only 2.5 because I ate dinner early...then at like 10pm I was STARVING and just ate some townhouse crackers and used 3 points I didnt' have. But it could have been much worse. Last week I would have opened up the bag of doritoes in the kitchen and ate half the bag. So i'm happy...and I did an extra 30 minutes today. :D

Helen: a triatholon would be AWESOME! But i'm going to stick with Diane and try to get through a 5k first. Then go from there! But you are totally at a point where you could do one. Go for it!!!

Diane: So I pushed myself and did it! I jogged 1.25 straight this morning. I warmed up for .30, then I went straight on to 1.55 and then I did a good paced walk for the rest of the .45. So I did 2 miles in 32 minutes. How was that? What speed do you jog? How long does a mile usually take you? I'ave been jogging slow, I was told that it's better to start off running slower rather than a faster speed because it helps to build up your stamina. I jog at 4.2 and for right now it's a very comfortable pace for me. Occassionaly I will do 4.5 and a few times I've boosted up to 5.0 but not for a long time! I have always had issues with my breathing when running and jogging slower has really helped me conquer that problem.

Adele: Cool! Join me in warm Welcome to post accountabiltiy. It's a great group of girls! Only a handful but VERY supportive, inquisitive, active and helpful. Like our buddies here! :D

Ladies:

Went to the gym later than usual today .......no one woke me up this morning, arghhhhh. I hate that! But all is good. Did the usual stuff and feel mwaaaaaavelous ;) . DD#2 has decided not to go to swim tonight (YES!!!!!!) so I can catch up on some cleaning at a reasonable hour and get to bed early. I have to work tomorrow early (I'm so not a morning person). I'll cycle at home when I return from work if I have the energy.

Melissa: Girl, you are going strong! It's been a hell of a week for you too. I'm thinking weigh in should be good for you tomorrow. A triathlon in the next 2-3 years I was thinking. I ran on the treadmill today with my new sneaks. Boy it was pain free and pretty good. I ran for one song at a time a few times at 5 mph and I walked at 4 mph when I wasn't running :) not sure how far that translates into. I'll have to watch the monitor next time I go.

Adele: cleaning the whole house in one day surely allows for some AP's no? :D

Okieee dokie, I'm off to do some cleaning......TTFN!

Remember this past summer when we were talking about meeting somewhere and spending the day together? Well now that it is only a few of us we should totally try to get together sometime during the New year. Even if it in the warmer months which would be better than the cold. EVen if it is in the summer some time. We should defnitely try to do that because we are only a few hours away from eachother. Keep it in mind girls!

Hi Buddies,

Melissa: I have never checked my speed and just put a battery in the thing the other day thats how I knew I ran that long LOL. I run really slow..I will check this morning and tell you. What I do is this: I base it to music. Its the ONLY way I can jog (odd but true) so I warm up through one song then I downloaded this remix by prince wich is 18.5 mins long I think I run thru the very end of that song and then the last song I load is when I bring it down to a walk. Then I do 50 situps and about 50 leg lifts hop back on the treadmill cool down for about 5 mins. Stretch then Im done. So you are working out alot harder than me I better fix a routine or something? If you want the remix let me know and Ill be glad to mail it to you. I think its great we are doing this!!

Helen: I started with one song. I couldnt even make it through the whole thing and I wanted to die. Eventually I did two with a run then walk then run a song..thats how I built up. You are doing great!!

Beanie: Are you also joining us for this run? I looked up on the 5k website and there are lots of locations and dates when I get a min I will come back and post the link maybe we can figure out something in the middle of us?

Id LOVE to meet you girls..maybe when the weather gets warmer to get us prepared? I have to tell you honestly now that Ive thought of this 5k theres no going back and Im sorta freaking out that I wont be able to do it!!!

Well time to get to work Ill post the link in a sec you all have a great day!

Good morning ladies,

I have to admit it is VERY good morning for me. I weighed in at 220.8 which means I lost 6lbs this week. :exercise2 This morning workout has REALLY made a difference for me and i'm going to definitely keep going with it. YIPEE!!

Diane: Thanks for the link. I put 5K in for CT, MA and RI and found a ton of them in the April, May and June Months. WE'll be sure to find something that we can get to. I'm excited. I would love to get a copy of your music. I'll PM you my address. Thanks. I know what you mean about freaking out now that we have committed ourselves to it. But we can do it. I made myself run 1.25 and the truth is, I could have probably kept going. I am going to up it every week. I am going to jog 1.25 3X this week and then next week i'm going to up it to 1.50 and then the following week 1.75 and so on until I get to 3.20. I think that is the distance of a 5K....am I right? Not sure. I'll have to ask my friend Cindy to confirm that. Definitely keep track of your speed and your distance. Then we can compare to make sure we can stick together in the 5K. Thanks for the idea and the motivation.

Adele: Yes it would be awesome. Like Diane asked, do you want to join us in preparing for a 5k in the spring? It's really giving me some motivation to train.

Helen: How about you? YOu in for a 5k in the spring with your new England buddies. Your probably the most fit of us all and would do it no problem. YOu could probably do one tomorrow. :buddysmoo

Okay well I have to update my other groups on my great weigh in. TTYL.

Hello ladies!

Well, I'd love to join you for the 5 k ....but I'm not ready for the commitment. I'm being honest. I've never run before. Maybe next year...I dunno...I have to really make sure that I am committed to it. (I would still love to meet you all!! )

Melissa73

Adele: That is totally fine! So start slowly working towards a jog and increase your distance when you can. You can do a 5K by the following Spring and we'll be there to do it with you! As long as we can get through the one we do in May. But we are still game to meet you of course! Where in CT do you live?

Good afternoon, ladies!

Work was busy yesterday. First off, my spousal unit, Mr. Alarm Clock, overslept and woke me up at the time I usually leave. Argh!!! then when I got to the hospital, I realized I didn't have my glasses. I called home and had spousal unit drive up my glasses AND an Extra Large dunkin donuts cawfee. Was the least he could do ;) Rough start to the day!

I plan to get on the bike today and do my 90 minutes and hit the gym Mon/Wed/Fri this week.

I'd love to get together .... with or without exercise involved. I'd rather cycle the 5k ;) but I dont' think that it's permitted. Years ago I used to run but knee pain drove me to the bike. I embraced the bike and never missed running. When I run on the treadmill at the gym now, I don't feel knee pain when I run or walk. Only time will tell if the pain returns.

Melissa: WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO Congrats to you on the 6lb loss. I knew you could do it. That was great for the first week out. Those power morning workouts surely had a fantastic impact. Here's to you and the coming week! Keep it up!

I have to laugh. I feel fit however, fit to run is sooooo not true unless something huge, furry, 4-legged, with huge teeth was chasing me, I can't say I'd be running. Race walking! now that's just short of running and I can do that!

Diane: I'm going to try running/jogging for two songs at a time at the gym. I walk at 4mph and run at 5mph. Maybe if I drop the running speed down to 4.5 I can last a little longer. I will report back on my progress as it occurs. I'm shooting for 1 song per run alternating with 1 song per walk and be consistent. Let's see how that works for me.

Adele: There's plenty of time to train before this event. Give it a whirl -- it's months away yet :walking:If joint pain keeps you from running/jogging, that's understandable. We'd love for you to join us though ;)
